Excellent analysis on Dylann Roof and the Confederate flag as PC BS distraction.

None of it fits "the agenda".

nice find Sep.
I hope you post more.
there's only one way to break the cycle of violent control - with persuasion, based in gentleness, meekness and love unfeigned. note that to have an eternal dominion, it must flow to you without compulsory means.

It wasn't even their flag, I am a stickler for historical accuracy.
For most of the confederacy's existance it was this;

and then this

Cherokee Confederate soldier reunion.

Many American Indians and Hispanics were loyal soldiers in the Confederacy.

Re: What Pisses Me Off About The Confederate Flag
I'm still confused how the media was able to sell the claim that the Confederate flag symbolized racism/slavery. Yes, the southern states wanted to keep slavery, but the flag was and has always been a symbol of rebellion.
I think that is why they've worked to remove it--The Progressive/socialist movement wants no rebellion from us while they take over our country.

Re: What Pisses Me Off About The Confederate Flag
I studied the history of slavery as my senior thesis in college. What many fail to admit is that no matter how you look at it, the rebellion was for the continued ability to own another human and have complete control over them. To be able to rape women at will; to be able to sell one's own children by that rape; to destroy any possibility of family life for an entire group of people -- that's what the south was rebelling for. There was anger and fear that the north would take away that power. I read original journals, interviews with former slaves, and what I don't get is why anyone would want to display the flag of that cause. No one thinks it's alright if someone of German heritage displays a Nazi flag -- why is the flag rebelling against freedom for slaves a proud piece of heritage?AI2.0 wrote:I'm still confused how the media was able to sell the claim that the Confederate flag symbolized racism/slavery. The Confederate battle flag was pretty much dormant after the Civil War until the Dixiecrat campaign of 1948 and until white supremacist groups used it as a symbol of resistance against civil rights in the 1960sAI2.0 wrote:I'm still confused how the media was able to sell the claim that the Confederate flag symbolized racism/slavery. Recently a chapter of the KKK rallied in support of the Confederate Flag http://time.com/3963672/kkk-rally-south-carolina/
The Confederate Flag is seen as a symbol of racism because racist groups used it as a symbol of racism and still do.

Re: What Pisses Me Off About The Confederate Flag
You are right wargames, the flag has been cooped by rascists and bigots, for which I am neither. Interestingly, if you look at photos of kkk rallies in the early twentieth century, the are carrying the Stars and Stripes.
The confederate flag was a battle flag of confederate armies seeking to repel invasion and forced union. Robert E Lee was offered to lead the Northern armies against his home, but instead chose to defend his home against Northern invaders.
DR- the north didn't fight to end slavery, but to force political union. Lincoln was all for the south keeping their slaves. Lincoln pursued war for economic and political interest, not moral crusade.
How should we view the Stars and Stripes? Not only was it a banner for slavery for many many decades, but has now become a banner for imperialism, empire, fascism, political and economic cronyism etc., but we wave it proudly, and sew it on our sons scout shirts.

Re: What Pisses Me Off About The Confederate Flag
I am currently indexing the Freedman's Bureau Labor documents for the church's genealogical data base. It is horrifying--and indication of what actually was going on in the South, trying to justify what they had done, and continued to do even after the war ended and slavery was abolished. Do some real historical research, Read the letters, the contracts, the essays, the oral stories that have been recorded of those living in that time and what actually happened and what they really thought. The confederate flag IS a symbol of family destruction, a symbol of human hatred, and a symbol of Satan's promise to "reign with blood and horror on this earth."Separatist wrote:You are right wargames, the flag has been cooped by rascists and bigots, for which I am neither. DR- the north didn't fight to end slavery, but to force political union. Why did the South want to secede? Because they feared Linclon (as a Republican) would limit the growth of slavery into the new western territories, and eventually push the south to accept abolition of slavery as a whole nation! Lincoln was all for the south keeping their slaves.Lincoln chose to not push that battle when there was the issue of the western territories and other problems with the south. It was a southern senator who bludgeoned one of his colleagues into unconsciousness on the Senat floor when he suggested that slavery might have to end one day or the country would not survive! Lincoln pursued war for economic and political interest, not moral crusade.

Re: What Pisses Me Off About The Confederate Flag
The history is really quite simple: the South wanted to leave, the North invaded to make them stay. The South had no desire to take over the reigns of the existing gov't, but go out on their own. Even the arch abolitionists supported the secession of the South as means to peacefully end slavery, as the Fugitive Slave Act would become null. Slavery was on it's way out and would have ended here as well.
I don't agree with forced political union, no matter how bad you think the other side is. The South consisted of roughly 20% of the population, was paying a majority of the federal revenue which was being used mostly in the North.

US empire imperialism much? What does the US flag represent? Destruction of families (welfare and warfare state), killing babies (abortion), killing foreigners (empire) and the list goes on and on. But wave it proudly on the 4th.Desert Roses wrote:The confederate flag IS a symbol of family destruction, a symbol of human hatred, and a symbol of Satan's promise to "reign with blood and horror on this earth."

Re: What Pisses Me Off About The Confederate Flag
Well, a lot of people will argue that it disincentivizes persons to take care of what should be their responsibility, and throws it on the gov't/taxpayer.
