No, you’re not being paranoid. Sites really are watching your every move | Ars Technica

If you have the uncomfortable sense someone is looking over your shoulder as you surf the Web, you're not being paranoid. A new study finds hundreds of sites—including microsoft.com, adobe.com, and godaddy.com—employ scripts that record visitors' keystrokes, mouse movements, and scrolling behavior in real time, even before the input is submitted or is later deleted.

Session replay scripts are provided by third-party analytics services that are designed to help site operators better understand how visitors interact with their Web properties and identify specific pages that are confusing or broken. As their name implies, the scripts allow the operators to re-enact individual browsing sessions. Each click, input, and scroll can be recorded and later played back.

A study published last week reported that 482 of the 50,000 most trafficked websites employ such scripts, usually with no clear disclosure. It's not always easy to detect sites that employ such scripts. The actual number is almost certainly much higher, particularly among sites outside the top 50,000 that were studied.

After 911 'butt' call, York police raid underage party, return to arrest man in attic - Portland Press Herald

A minor who police said accidentally pocket-dialed 911 led authorities to an underage drinking party in York early Sunday morning that prompted a standoff and the arrest of a man allegedly involved in the illegal celebration.

York police said in a statement that they responded to a 911 hangup call at 63 Cider Hill Road around 12:46 a.m.

Sgt. Luke Ernenwein said the dispatcher could hear yelling and people arguing at the other end of the phone line, but there was no one on the line to talk to.

Police, using cellphone towers, identified the approximate location of the 911 call, and when they pulled into the driveway, the homeowner – Leighlon Anderson, 45 – came running out to apologize about the errant call for help.

She was then charged with furnishing/allowing minors to consume alcohol.

Police Lockdown To End, ACLU Questions Constitutionality | Baltimore, MD Patch

The American Civil Liberties Union for Maryland issued a statement on Sunday indicating that it was "troubled" by the lengthy lockdown of the neighborhood, which it said raised concerns about constitutionality.

"While the search for a killer is, of course, a high priority for the police, the limits on lawful police behavior do not disappear even when engaged in that pursuit. And at least one federal appellate court has said that a similar police cordon and checkpoint system was unconstitutional...We are also troubled by reports that some persons entering or leaving the area have been subject to pat down searches, and that non-residents have been barred from entering the area," said David Rocah, senior staff attorney for the ACLU of Maryland, in a statement. "The need to secure a crime scene from contamination to preserve evidence does not, on its face, explain the wide area to which access has been restricted for days after the incident."

Russia confirms 'extremely high' readings of radioactive pollution

Moscow (AFP) - Russia's meteorological service confirmed on Monday "extremely high" concentrations of the radioactive isotope ruthenium-106 in several parts of the country in late September, confirming European reports about the contamination this month.

"Probes of radioactive aerosols from monitoring stations Argayash and Novogorny were found to contain radioisotope Ru-106" between September 25 and October 1, the Rosgidromet service said.

Group sues LDS Church, bishop and other members for allowing alleged sexual abuse

BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. – Several John Doe and Jane Doe complainants filed a lawsuit against the LDS Church, and several stake leaders Monday, saying they knowingly allowed an individual who had a history of sexual abuse near underage children.

According to a complaint filed with the Circuit Court of Berkeley County, twelve plaintiffs were suing for damages caused to them from sexual abuse while they were minors by Michael Jensen.

Jensen was sentenced to 35-75 years in prison in 2013 for first-degree sexual assault, after he allegedly abused several minors, while in a position of leadership and counsel to young church members.

The complaint logged numerous situations in which Jensen was put in a position of trust, and then allegedly sexually abused children. One victim was said to be four-years-old, when Jensen locked her in a room, and forced her to touch him inappropriately. Another victim was allegedly a two-year-old boy, who had “abrasions or burns” on his upper thighs and genitals after being babysat by Jensen.

According to those suing the church, Jensen’s parents, who were leaders at the stake, and other members knowingly put Jensen in a position of trust, despite having knowledge of past abuse.

The complaint stated:
“The Church was repeatedly put on notice and/or had knowledge of Michael Jensen’s predatory acts. In 2007, before the abuses of the minor children suing herein, the Stake High Council held a meeting where Michael Jensen’s sexual abuses of his younger sibling and another minor child were discussed. Also in 2007, the mother of a victim (party in this case), who was four years old when abused, told Michael Jensen’s mother, the Church’s local Relief Society President, and Michael Jensen’s father, a Stake High Council member, that she was concerned that Michael had done something to harm their daughter while he babysat her.”
The complaint said that instead of reporting alleged sexual assault to authorities, the Hedgesville Ward of the Martinsburg Stake “did the opposite.”

It called church leaders “negligent,” in allowing Jensen to provide babysitting services, and live with members who had underage children.

Complainants are seeking for compensation to be paid.

The report stated:
“Punitive damages, in addition to compensatory damages, are not only warranted in these circumstances, but also are necessary to send a message to this institution and its agents that abusing young children is not acceptable, that compliance with secular laws requiring that sex abuse be reported to the authorities is mandatory, and that the Church’s self-interest cannot be elevated over the needs of young children and this State’s compelling interest that its laws prohibiting and protecting against sex abuse be followed.”
Jensen is currently serving his sentence in the West Virginia penitentiary, followed by 50 years of probation.

Google collects Android users' locations even when location services are disabled — Quartz

Many people realize that smartphones track their locations. But what if you actively turn off location services, haven’t used any apps, and haven’t even inserted a carrier SIM card?

Even if you take all of those precautions, phones running Android software gather data about your location and send it back to Google when they’re connected to the internet, a Quartz investigation has revealed.

Since the beginning of 2017, Android phones have been collecting the addresses of nearby cellular towers—even when location services are disabled—and sending that data back to Google. The result is that Google, the unit of Alphabet behind Android, has access to data about individuals’ locations and their movements that go far beyond a reasonable consumer expectation of privacy.

Federal judge says Trump administration can’t stop funding sex-reassignment surgery for military members - The Washington Post

A second federal judge has halted the Trump administration’s proposed transgender military ban finding that active-duty service members are “already suffering harmful consequences” because of the president’s policy.

The ruling Tuesday from U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis in the Maryland case comes just weeks after another judge in Washington blocked the administration’s proposal that would have stopped military recruitment of transgender men and women and possibly forced the dismissal of current service members starting in March.

Re: NASA Unveils Risky Plan to Try and Stop Yellowstone Supervolcano Eruption

Post by Love »

Joel wrote: August 21st, 2017, 5:40 pm
A NASA plan to stop theYellowstone supervolcano from erupting, could actually cause it to blow... triggering a nuclear winter that would wipe out humanity.

Yellowstone currently leaks about 60 to 70 percent of its heat into the atmosphere through stream water which seeps into the magma chamber through cracks, while the rest of the heat builds up as magma and dissolves into volatile gasses. The heat and pressure will reach the threshold, meaning an explosion is inevitable. When NASA scientists considered the fact that a super volcano’s eruption would plunge the earth into a volcanic winter, destroying most sources of food, starvation would then become a real possibility. Food reserves would only last about 74 days, according to the UN, after an eruption of a super volcano, like that under Yellowstone. And they have devised a risky plan that could end up blowing up in their faces. Literally.

Wilcox hypothesized that if enough heat was removed, and the temperature of the super volcano dropped, it would never erupt. But he wants to see a 35% decrease in temperature, and how to achieve that, is incredibly risky. One possibility is to simply increase the amount of water in the supervolcano. As it turns to steam. the water would release the heat into the atmosphere, making global warming alarmists tremble.

Prophecy of the Seven Thunders
Image Article posted by Kirsten Cowart via http://www.ewao.com/
"Native Americans still hold the oldest existing ongoing knowledge. Knowledge passed on for thousands of years. Truth. A message from the heart. The prophecies of the seven thunders are about these times. The first three have already occurred; the fourth is nearly fulfilled. This is just a summary of the prophecies."

Prophecies are sometimes literal and other times symbolic. They don't always take place in a literal third dimension way. Sometimes they are referring to higher events that take place in other ways, or happen on higher dimensional levels. Read these prophecies and see what you think is happening or will happen based on that that has been shared.

1. The people of the world will experience mass starvation, sickness and homelessness.

If you look at our world today you see this happening all over the world. What I have found, traveling to other counties, is that this sort of thing is less hidden in other countries outside of the US. Those who suffer are out on the street and you see it in both the old and the young. In Western culture, and inside most cities of the United States these issues are hidden from view. Out of sight, out of mind.

2. The sky will become sick with holes like sores. From these holes bacteria will come into the waters. This will affect our physical and dimensional realities.

What do you think this one means? The first thing that comes to my mind is the holes in the ozone layer as a literal translation. As more of a spiritual or higher translation I see this being about our link with divinity. We have forgotten our higher connections and wisdom. In our disconnected ignorance we are poisoning the earth and causing illness for plants, animals and people alike.

3. New species and mutations will occur. Mutations in humans will start to happen.

Though this could mean many different things on many levels I can't help but think about GMO's. Not only are we modifying our food and breeding animals to fit our consumption wants, we are also causing damage to ourselves. Another level to look at this one is on our minds. Our minds are mutating as society falls further and further into the illusion of consumerism. Good thing more people are waking up each day.

4. Two comets - the twins in the heavens, one guards the north pole, one the south. They will cause the poles to shift and our realities will shift too. New information will be unearthed, lost cities will be found. The Devil winds will blow and the Earth will rid her toxins. Four great women will perish which will signal the beginning of seven circles which are the answers to the seven thunders.

This part contains a lot of interesting and intense ideas. Are they physical or symbolic? We know the realities are shifting, more and more people are shifting from a 4th dimensional mind into a 5th dimensional mind. Lost cities in history are being found. The poles are predicted to make a big shift, however the magnetics of the earth have been shifting more each year for a while now regardless of a big shift.

The winds and the women could be metaphorical or literal. There could be 4 women on earth or this could have some symbolic reference to the 4 elements and mother earth. What do you think?

5. The atmosphere can no longer repair itself. Time and reality as we perceive it will shift. Good and evil will emerge. Man will experiment with the Earth and cause a volcanic eruption in Mexico and a chain reaction of earthquakes will go up the Cascade Mountain Range.

Haarp has long been suspected of being able to control the weather. What other experiments has the government been conducting that may have lead up to the recent increase in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions? For the Mexico volcanic eruption, all I can say is that I hope it is metaphorical and is referring to a moment of thought rather than actual destruction.

6. The people from the stars will return to help us. The Earth has picked up the consciousness of the people and it is on self destruct.

It sounds like aliens or higher dimensional beings will lend their assistance to the human race. I am so grateful for this.

7. The Purifier comes-The twelfth planet will pass the Earth, causing three and a half days of darkness in the eclipse. The pyramids clock, keeper of the Earth, runs on sun light. After the darkness we will emerge into the fifth world.

Whether or not there is going to be a literal 3.5 days of darkness is yet to be known. Perhaps it will be 3 days of spiritual darkness followed by a shift in consciousness. Either way it sounds like the whole earth will shift into the 5th dimension.

What do you think about these prophecies? Do you think they will comes to pass? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Thank you for reading.

This is because the truth isn't determined by popularity.

Alphabet's Eric Schmidt: Why Google can have trouble ranking 'truth'

"Let's say that this group believes Fact A and this group believes Fact B and you passionately disagree with each other and you are all publishing and writing about it and so forth and so on. It is very difficult for us to understand truth," says Schmidt, referring to the search engine's algorithmic capabilities.

"So when it gets to a contest of Group A versus Group B — you can imagine what I am talking about — it is difficult for us to sort out which rank, A or B, is higher," Schmidt says.

I say cut the jobs. I am a city employee, and I say all levels of government are taxing and involved it things they have no business being in. If I loose my job tomorrow because the government stopped tax (robbing people) so be it.

Watch the video. One former employee said they would support legalizing marijuana to keep their job! She said she would take up smoking it to pay the tax, to keep her job. These people don't care about others. They are willing to sacrifice the lives of others just to preserve their own comforts and lifestyles. They are willing to see you addicted to weed so they can keep a job! Gadianton robbers!

More Than 300 Cook County Workers Laid Off « CBS Chicago

CBS 2’s Roseanne Tellez introduces us to some of the people who got the most unwelcome news, days before Thanksgiving.

Some county employees begged for their jobs.

Cook County commissioners who supported a penny-an-ounce sweetened beverage tax say they warned of the cost of repealing it: a budget amendment filled with pain.

“It has actual layoffs of human beings who have jobs and who have families,” Commissioner Larry Suffredin (13th District) said.

Officials cut 321 jobs to fill a $200 million budget gap.

These include:
-156 positions from the court system
-100 from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department
-34 from the hospital system
-15 from the board president’s office.

Mom puts recorder in child’s backpack to catch bullying, now faces felony charge | WISH-TV

In late September, Sims says she had enough. She told WISH-TV’s sister station WAVY her 9-year-old daughter was getting bullied at Ocean View Elementary. She says repeated calls and emails to the school were not returned.

“The thing that bothers me the most is that I am yet to get a response from anyone in the administration,” Sims added.

Sims says she took actions into her own hands. She wanted to prove that nothing was being done to help her 4th-grade daughter. She put a digital recorder into her daughter’s backpack in hopes of catching audio from inside the classroom.

“If I’m not getting an answer from you, what am I left to do?” she asked.

The recorder was found. The 9-year-old was moved to a new classroom and about a month later Sims was charged by police.

The FCC Hopes You're Too Busy With Thanksgiving to Read This
The FCC today finally released the full details of its attack on net neutrality, in the hopes you're too busy preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday to actually read it. We'll save you a little time as you brine your turkey or drive to distant relatives: it's every bit as bad as everyone expected -- and in some ways, quite a bit worse.

The full, Orwellian-named "Restoring Internet Freedom" fact sheet (pdf) makes it clear that the FCC is pushing for a full repeal of not only net neutrality rules and protections, but the Title II classification of ISPs as common carriers that underpins the FCC's authority over broadband providers. It is, by any measure, a grotesque example of crony capitalism run amok, and a blatant hand out to the nation's uncompetitive broadband duopolies.

When the FCC passed net neutrality rules in 2015 taking aim at this kind of anti-competitive behavior, this behavior mysteriously and abruptly ceased. Yet the FCC's order states they're gutting this portion of net neutrality protections as well, because, they claim, there is no evidence that any of this actually happened.

"We believe that applying Title II to Internet traffic exchange arrangements was unnecessary and is likely to inhibit competition and innovation," claims the FCC. "We find that freeing Internet traffic exchange arrangements from burdensome government regulation, and allowing market forces to discipline this emerging market is the better course."

ISP lobbyists have convinced the government to try and gut all FCC authority over one of the least-liked, least competitive industries in America, then shovel that authority over to an FTC that's too over-extended and under-funded to police anti-competitive abuses by the likes of Comcast and AT&T.
A better course for giant ISPs, perhaps, but not for the end user, streaming competition or a healthy internet.

Baltimore Detective Sean Suiter killed day before testimony in police corruption case - NBC News

A Baltimore detective was fatally shot with his own gun just one day before he was set to testify before a federal grand jury in a case involving other officers, the city’s police commissioner said Wednesday.

“Detective Suiter was going to offer federal grand jury testimony about an incident that occurred several years ago that included officers who are now federally indicted back in March,” Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said of Sean Suiter.

“He was scheduled to offer grand jury testimony the day after he was murdered,” he added.

But Davis stressed that as the search for Suiter’s killer continues, there was currently no evidence that the slaying was linked to his upcoming testimony or any conspiracy.

Police commissioner: Slain Baltimore detective was to testify in case of indicted officers - Baltimore Sun

Slain Baltimore homicide Detective Sean Suiter was scheduled to testify before a federal grand jury in the case against a squad of indicted officers on the day after he was shot, Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said Wednesday evening.

The revelation brings together two cases that have sent shock waves through the Police Department and the city as a whole: the federal prosecutions of eight members of the department’s elite gun task force, who are accused of shaking down citizens and conspiring with drug dealers, and the killing of Suiter last week in West Baltimore, the first of an on-duty officer by a suspect in 10 years.
