Try the LDSFF 2018 Beta.. (new design, more mobile-friendly)
I've been working on an updated design for the LDS Freedom Forum. It's available to anyone that would like to use it (please provide feedback). Eventually it will probably become the default style/look of the forum.
To enable it:
Click your username at the top right corner and click "User Control Panel".
On the User Control Panel click the "Board preferences" tab.
Select "ldsff2018" as "My board style" and then click "Submit".
Please provide any feedback/suggestions/comments about the new design in this thread. It might take some getting used to (try it on desktop and mobile devices). Your feedback will be helpful in identifying anything about the design, layout and user interface that need to be improved. When providing feedback please specify if your feedback applies to desktop or mobile.
Even if you hate it let me know (and why).

The text boxes need some definition in my opinion.

Hang with it, Brian. Change is hard but this has terrific potential and I think as you work it the benefit will be greater for everyone because it will be more user friendly across more screen types. I think it is a big improvement.

Did you take my suggestion from earlier? Yay!BrianM wrote: ↑September 11th, 2017, 3:35 pm I've been working on an updated design for the LDS Freedom Forum. I liked that the old version let us know if someone liked or quoted us. Where would you find that info?

On the navigation on the left side, a little red/pink circle shows up if you have any notifications.. click your name/avatar and you'll see the menu with the option to view those notifications which give you that info.setyourselffree wrote: ↑September 11th, 2017, 7:19 pm I liked that the old version let us know if someone liked or quoted us. A couple of things I like with the older design is the your posts link was by the latest posts link and also by every post there was an arrow you could click that took you to the top of the page. Also on longer quotes I am not a fan of the extra scroll bar.

Mostly liking it. Change is hard. But I like that on latest posts it shows who posted last and when instead of when the thread was started.
But I frequently use the "first unread post" button and don't see that. I would really miss that on the threads that get really long when I'm gone a few days.

How can I see the first unread thread in a topic? Can't see how to do that.

Didn't like it, changed it back. I'll adapt if it becomes the standard I guess though.

I would like to add that arrow that links to the top of the page.

Re: Try the LDSFF 2018 Beta.. (new design, more mobile-friendly)
I would recommend giving it a try for a while to get used to it. I'll probably leave the current theme as an available option but eventually it will become outdated as the forum software gets new updates.

No. Too hard to read. I'll get used to it when I have to.

I'm not seeing anything like that on my phone. I'll keep playing with it tomorrow, maybe get some screen shots.

Automatically Parse URLs
Title of The Thread // Title of The Post
Do we stone the prophets? // Rightly dividing the word of truth
Do some thing like that, to cite another post on LDSFF.
Auto-parse from the URL for the post, which can be obtained by clicking the title of the post.
Cut the postURL and paste it into another thread and it automatically parses the URL.
There's a check box labeled "Do not automatically parse URLs" unchecked by default, showing in the options panel.

Re: Try the LDSFF 2018 Beta.. (new design, more mobile-friendly)
General:
* Make more compact: Reduce the padding of virtually every div, sidebar lists, and line spacing in posts (to make more text visible per page and faster to scroll through, thus more friendly for not just mobile but all displays).
* On the index, don't truncate the width of the Last Post column: increase its width and/or wrap its text.
* Quote scrollbars: Annoying but sometimes desired. Add a toggle?
Sidebar:
* Don't crop the sides of the LDSFF logo.
* Make the sidebar bg the blue of the LDSFF logo.
Full editor:
* In "Post a reply," the subject text is currently centered and truncated but scrollable. Instead, align it next to "Subject: " and don't truncate it.
* "youtube": 1. currently overflows from the button, so replace it with a YouTube icon, and 2. edit the tooltip to something like "Embed a YouTube video: ...".
* s: 1. could (still) use a tooltip, 2. should be s, and 3. would better be placed after U.
* "Font colour": Are you Bri'ish?
