“Last week there was a terrible incident that took place in Melbourne. Sadly it’s not the first terrorist-related incident to take place in Melbourne. We need to recognise this scourge is with us, and with us for a long period of time.”
But why, Mr. Dutton? Why is this scourge with us for a long period of time? One reason is because you and your colleagues refuse to name it for what it is, or to deal with its ideological roots."

'The French government on Friday unveiled new policies aimed to reduce the spread of radical Islam in schools and prisons.
Schoolteachers will be taught how to identify radicalized students, and private schools at risk of widespread radicalism will be closed.
The government will immediately open 450 high-security areas within the nation's prisons in which to hold radicalized inmates, says French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe.

France, which has suffered an unprecedented number of terror attacks during the past three years, is now facing the prospect of hundreds of thousands of nationals returning from defeated ISIS strongholds in Syria and Iraq.
"Islamic State is losing ground every day in Syria and Iraq thanks to the international coalition and our army," says Philippe. "But the internal threat on our territory and our border remains."
Some areas of France have already been taken over by Sharia Law.
Take the Paris suburb of Trappes, for example, which has more than 1,500 prayer rooms and five mosques. "You couldn't really consider Trappes as a traditional French town anymore. It's a little bit like a state within a state," says Dr. Leslie Shaw, President of the Forum on Islamic Radicalization and Management.

According to surveys of French Muslim high school students conducted by the National Center for Scientific Research in 2016,

R72% reject science when it is in conflict with Islamic doctrine

68% believe Islamic law is superior to secular law

R36% are opposed to gender equality

33% support violence and social deviance

23% believe their teachers say things that are false

"It's only a matter of time before we have another attack," adds Shaw. "The basic problem is the ideology that's driving this. And this goes much deeper than terrorist cells, or planning and executing attacks."

Utah: Muslim student leaves explosive backpack at high school, posts Islamic State propaganda

“Student who left explosives had posted ISIS propaganda, police say,” by Pat Reavy, KSL, March 6, 2018 (thanks to Reed):
ST. GEORGE — St. George police continued Tuesday to investigate why a student allegedly left a backpack with explosive materials in a high school and has been posting ISIS propaganda.
The student, whose name and age were not released Tuesday, was arrested Monday after a backpack with explosives was found in the commons area of Pine View High School, the area where students eat lunch.
Alert students spotted the backpack was “smoking” and immediately contacted school administrators and the school resource officer, according to police.
“From that initial investigation, it was determined that a homemade explosive device was inside the backpack,” according to a prepared statement Tuesday from police. “After examining the device, bomb squad members indicted that if it had detonated, the device had the potential to cause significant injury or death.”
The school was evacuated while local and federal officials investigated. A male student who attends a class at Pine View was identified as the suspect.
“A warrant was served on the residence of that juvenile and items were located that were consistent with the materials used to build the device placed at Pine View. Based on our investigation we can confirm this was a failed attempt to detonate a homemade explosive at the school,” police wrote.
“It was also determined that the male had been researching information and expressing interest in ISIS and promoting the organization.”
Police believe the same teen is responsible for graffiti spray-painted on a wall at Hurricane High School that stated, “ISIS is comi–” and for replacing the high school’s flag with an ISIS flag in February….
According to the Washington County School District, the student was only taking one class at the high school because he was part of the Success Academy, a partnership with Dixie State University that allows students to enroll concurrently for high school and college classes. The program is typically for accelerated learning students, according to the district….
St. George police on Tuesday praised the students who immediately reported the backpack that had smoke coming from it, as well as the Washington County School District for previously practicing evacuations, leading to “a quick and seamless evacuation” of Pine View High on Monday."

"In a courtroom nearly 3,000 miles from Seattle, Ali Muhammad Brown pleaded guilty on Tuesday to killing a college student in New Jersey and admitted he fatally shot three men in the Seattle area in spring 2014 as part of an overarching plan to retaliate against the U.S. for military actions in the Middle East.
His admission of guilt in connection with the deaths of Leroy Henderson in Skyway and Dwone Anderson-Young and Ahmed Said in Seattle’s Leschi neighborhood won’t impact the three aggravated first-degree murder charges filed against him in King County Superior Court, said Mark Larson, the county’s chief criminal deputy prosecutor.
Brown, who pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including murder, robbery and terrorism in New Jersey’s Essex County, is currently serving a 35-year sentence for a New Jersey armed robbery committed before Brown killed 19-year-old Brandon Tevlin outside Newark.
He also still faces another robbery charge in Monmouth County, N.J.
The robbery charge will need to be resolved before Brown, now 33, is returned to Washington state, where he has yet to be arraigned on the three aggravated murder charges, Larson said.
“It kind of took us by surprise,” he said of Brown’s guilty plea in Essex County, which came on the fifth day of jury selection in anticipation of Brown’s trial, which that had been expected to begin next week.
“He will be returned to Washington. That is our intent. We have three homicides here that have not been resolved,” said Larson.
The four killings “were part of an overarching plan to kill Americans” in retaliation for what Brown contended were “millions of lives” the U.S. had taken in the Middle East, said Assistant Essex County Prosecutor Jamel Sempur.
King County prosecutors have said Brown characterized himself as a strict Muslim who became angry with the deaths of civilians and children during U.S. involvement in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.
“The defendant was on a bloody crusade, executing four innocent men … with the same murder weapon, over the course of approximately two months, and all under the common and single scheme of exacting ‘vengeance’ against the United States government for its foreign policies,” prosecutors wrote in court filings.
During Tuesday’s hearing in Newark, Brown said he had been “stupid” and had been operating under a mistaken ideology, the news website nj.com reported.
“The mistake that I made is I thought I was fighting jihad,” he said, according to the website.
On April 27, 2014, Henderson, 30, was walking home from a Skyway store when he was shot at least six times in the back by Brown, who was driving his former girlfriend’s SUV and had stolen her 9 mm handgun from her Tacoma apartment, charging papers say.
But Brown wasn’t identified as a suspect in Henderson’s homicide until weeks later, after he had killed Anderson-Young, 23, and Said, 27, according to the charges.
Said offered to drive Anderson-Young home and he and Brown got into Said’s car, charging papers say.
At the end of the 17-minute drive to Anderson-Young’s house in Leschi, Brown shot both men multiple times inside the vehicle, the charges say.
He got on a Greyhound bus and fled to New Jersey two days later, police said.
Then on June 25, 2014, Brown shot Tevlin as his car was stopped at a traffic light in West Orange, a few miles from Newark.
Brown, who has prior criminal convictions, was identified from a palm print left on a window of Said’s car, according to the charges. Police in Seattle and in New Jersey matched bullets and shell casings from the three homicide scenes to the 9 mm handgun that was in Brown’s possession when he was arrested in New Jersey on July 18, 2014.
Brown, who was the first person charged with terrorism connected to a homicide under a New Jersey law, faces a life sentence for the crimes he pleaded guilty to on Tuesday.
In 2016, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg announced he would not seek the death penalty against Brown, which means Brown will face a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of release should he be convicted of aggravated murder for the deaths of Henderson, Anderson-Young and Said.
Knowing the man accused of killing her son will never again walk free gives Falana Young-Wyatt a degree of peace.
“It’s a bit of a relief, that something is actually happening. I’ve been waiting four years to get justice for my son,” Young-Wyatt, the mother of Anderson-Young, said Tuesday.
She hopes Brown will also plead guilty in King County, thereby sparing her family and the other victims’ families the trauma of a trial. But she still wants to face Brown and tell him how his actions have forever changed her life.
“I need to have my closure, I need to have my day in court and face him and say what I need to say,” Young-Wyatt said. “I still have so many questions that may never be answered. Did my son know his life was in danger? Was he afraid?
“All I have is those last moments. ‘Have a good time. See you later.’ Those were my last words to him. That’s it,” she said. ” … He had such a bright future ahead of him and it’s just so disturbing this man could take his life in the blink of an eye.”

PALM BEACH GARDENS — A Jupiter teenager said his Muslim faith led him to fatally stab a boy on his 13th birthday and injure two others at a sleepover Sunday night in BallenIsles Country Club, Palm Beach Gardens police said during a 2 p.m. news conference.
Corey Johnson, 17, was arrested Monday after he reportedly confessed to stabbing the three people while he spent the night at a friend’s home in the gated community off PGA Boulevard.
He faces one murder and two attempted-murder charges in the stabbings. The FBI also is investigating the attacks.
Also Tuesday, Judge Daliah H. Weiss ordered Johnson be held in a juvenile detention center while a grand jury decides whether to charge him as an adult in the killing. Friends and family of the victims packed the juvenile courtroom Tuesday afternoon for the brief hearing.
Johnson, who police said recently withdrew from William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, told authorities he woke up at about 4 a.m. Monday at his friend Kyle Bancroft’s home. He decided to kill Kyle’s mother, Elaine Simon; Kyle’s brother, Dane, 13; and Dane’s friend, Jovanni Sierra, 13, while they slept, he said.
Dane reportedly had “made fun of” Johnson’s Islamic faith, the teen said, according to the police report. Jovanni Sierra, who turned 13 on Monday, referred to celebrities as “gods,” Johnson said. That upset him because it is contrary to the Islamic faith to idolize others as a god, he said.
Johnson and Kyle watched violent jihadist videos Sunday night, they said. Johnson stabbed Jovanni Sierra and slit his throat with a knife he had brought with him to the house.
Johnson said he read the Quran before going to the house. He turned to the Muslim holy book “to give him courage to carry out his intentions,” according to an arrest report. American Islamic leaders have repeatedly condemned expressions of their faith, the second largest in the world after Christianity, that involve violence and terrorism, especially since the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
Shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, Simon — a family-law attorney based in Palm Beach Gardens — heard what sounded like Jovanni Sierra moaning. She went upstairs to investigate.
As Simon walked to the top of the stairs, Johnson lunged at her with a knife and stabbed her. She told city police she’d known the teen for a decade. Authorities said she was stabbed at least a dozen times and fell down the stairs.
Dane ran to protect his mother. He was stabbed more than two dozen times, police said.
Someone ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911. Simon and Dane were rushed to a trauma hospital for their injuries. Kyle was not hurt.
A spokesman for St. Mary’s Medical Center said Tuesday that Simon was in good condition. He said he could not comment on Dane’s condition because he is a minor.
Johnson barricaded himself in a room when police arrived. He was taken into custody at about 8 a.m. by the city’s SWAT team. Jovanni Sierra was found dead in the home.
Interim Chief Clint Shannon said Jupiter police, Palm Beach County School District police and the FBI previously investigated Johnson for “alleged violent tendencies” that they received through “intelligence gathering” in the northern part of the county.
Shannon said Palm Beach Gardens’ only previous encounter with Johnson occurred at 3 a.m. Feb. 28 when he and four other juveniles were stopped on Holly Drive, just east of Military Trail.
The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents. Johnson was in company of Kyle and Dane Bancroft, Shannon said.
Dane and Jovanni Sierra were seventh-graders at Watson B. Duncan Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens, according to officials. Principal Philip D’Amico notified parents of the deaths with a recorded call Tuesday morning.
“Your students may have heard some tragic news via social media regarding one of their fellow students, who was fatally wounded in an incident at a private residence. Another student was injured. Police are still investigating the incident, and we have no information about the case; however, we have no reason to believe it was related to anything involving the school,” D’Amico said in the call.
This is second reported homicide in Palm Beach Gardens in 2018 and the second to touch BallenIsles. Alan J. Abrahamson, a 71-year-old BallenIsles homeowner, was found dead early Jan. 25 near a sidewalk by the intersection of PGA and Central boulevards, northeast of the community. Police have not made an arrest in his death."

"The city of London actually surpassed the murder rate of New York City, despite London’s gun ban and strict gun-control laws, the high number of murders in the capital of the United Kingdom has largely been attributed to a surge in knife crime — they still suffer from some gun violence in spite of the gun ban, by the way — which has led to law enforcement’s crackdown on bladed weapons and other items that could be utilised as dangerous weapons. London Mayor Sadiq Khan, ludicrously stated, “No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.”

One can only wonder exactly where the mayor of London sees the greatest danger posed from knives as coming from — the actual knives themselves, criminals misusing knives in a violent manner, or in the government’s response to the mere act of carrying a knife. Considering this is a country that has effectively banned the possession of firearms and acts of self-defence, and is now jailing people for saying the wrong “unapproved” or “offensive” things, that third possibility is actually the most worrisome of them all in terms of individual freedom and liberty."

"In Islam, a martyr is one who “kills and is killed” for Allah (Qur’an 9:111). Mahmoud al-Khila is trying to make more people think that killing and being killed for Allah, and encouraging others to do so, is a great virtue.

The early conquests that created the Islamic world gained their impetus from an ideology of jihad that created a fearless warrior class: the jihadi was promised the earthly goods and women of the people he defeated, and if he himself was defeated, then the eternal pleasures of the virgins of Paradise.

It was a win/win situation. And as I show in my forthcoming book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS, which you can preorder here now, this ideology created a war machine the likes of which the world had never seen before. This is the first book to give you a comprehensive history of jihad activity. Relying primarily on eyewitness accounts and those of contemporary chroniclers, I detail the shocking history of how this war machine easily defeated two superpowers and captured and subjugated a massive expanse of territory stretching to Spain and India. Even then the jihadis didn’t stop, menacing Europe for hundreds of years from both east and west, and moving into Central Asia, obliterating historical strongholds of Hinduism and Buddhism. The renowned jihad warrior Tamerlane not only menaced the Christian Byzantine Empire, but even marched toward China to bring jihad to the Middle Kingdom.

It’s an extraordinary story, rendered all the more remarkable for how completely the Western world has forgotten that it ever happened. There is today a prevailing fog of misinformation and disinformation that claims that jihad terror is a relatively recent phenomenon and that the Islamic empires of the past were beacons of tolerance. These historical myths are cooked up not primarily to inform us about history, but to influence our political perspectives today regarding jihad terror, mass Muslim migration, and more. "

"Roger Singaravelu wasn’t a novice when it came to hosting foreign-exchange students.
So when Momena Shoma, 24, a female Bangladeshi student from a well-to-do family, needed to switch host homes a week after arriving in Australia in early February, Singaravelu opened his once again.
Nothing stood out that could have warned the 56-year-old Melbourne Hospital worker of any potential problem. The father of a five-year-old daughter felt comfortable enough to take an afternoon nap on the couch the day after Shoma settled in.
Then everything changed.
Only now is Singaravelu, still traumatized, speaking out.
He awakened to “a sharp pain” in his neck, with Shoma leaning over him with a kitchen knife and shouting, “Allahu akbar” as she stabbed him, his daughter screaming as she witnessed the attack.
“I reactively grabbed on to the knife and fought her off, my daughter was screaming nearby, and I told her to run and hide,” he told the Melbourne Herald-Sun.
“There was blood everywhere. I ran outside with my daughter and got the attention of neighbors, who assisted me.”
Whatever screening the Australian Homestay Network had done on Shoma and other exchange students, it had not picked up on Shoma’s ISIS sympathies.
Four years before the attack, Shoma had been romantically involved with Najibullah Ansari, a now-missing ISIS extremist sought by authorities in Bangladesh. The pair, both from upper middle-class professional families, broke off their relationship because of parental disapproval.
Shoma’s suitor allegedly belonged to New Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, or Neo-JMB, an ISIS-inspired radical group made up of youth from wealthy families. Neo-JMB was responsible for a July 2016 attack at a Dhaka cafe favored by Westerners that left 29 dead. Following the massacre, authorities named Ansari, son of a naval officer, as a Neo-JMB militant wanted for questioning.
While Shoma has not been implicated in the cafe attack, she attended the same school at the same time as some of the terrorists involved and became more religious during that period. Ansari disappeared in 2015 after announcing he was “going to Iraq to join ISIS.”
Only days after Shoma’s arrest in the Melbourne attack, her sister, Asmaul Husna, 22, attacked and stabbed a policeman at her Dhaka home while shouting “Allahu akbar” when questioned about Shoma. Authorities say Husna admitted to be involved with the radical Neo-JMB.
Australian authorities have charged Shoma with one count of engaging in a terrorist attack. Her next court appearance is set for May 2.
Singaravelu says he is still “traumatized” by the incident and so is his daughter.
“She still sees blood on the wall and asks me to clean it off, although there is nothing there.”

"Abderrahmane Bettahar was raised in a culture of violence that calls for the beating of disobedient women.

The Qur’an says: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” (Qur’an 4:34)
And in a hadith, Aisha, Muhammad’s child bride, says that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?” (Sahih Muslim 2127)

A 22-year-old woman who died last month at the hands of her ex-boyfriend was stabbed 40 times and had her throat slit before being shot twice as she tried to escape her attacker, police say.
Nadia El-Dib’s body was found behind a home in northeast Calgary on March 25. Her killer, Abderrahmane Bettahar, 21, died four days later in a shootout with RCMP officers near Edmonton.
Police say they believe Bettahar and El-Dib left a downtown shisha bar together at around 3 a.m. on March 25. Despite having dated in late 2017, the two weren’t in a relationship at the time, police say."
