Re: CHURCH NEWS: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Statement
Adam and Eve were on "this land" first, before anyone else, if you want to get particular about it - they lived about 100 miles from my house. Besides, this thread is not about Indians living in what is now the United States (AKA: Lamanites) - although the Book of Mormon also describes what would happen to them should they not worship Christ - and that was fulfilled every whit - as will the prophesies about the Gentiles - as will all true prophecies. That's what I love about the Savior - he's entirely just. People from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, etc. never lived in Iowa, as far as I'm aware, nor on most of what is now the United States. Two different groups of people, and this thread is about the latter.
And for the 100th time - THEFT IS NOT CHARITY. Why is that so hard for some people to understand? The Good Samaritan didn't STEAL from someone else and give to the poor guy laying beaten in the road - he gave HIS OWN money and took care of him HIMSELF - he didn't FORCE someone else to take care of him. Satan's plan has been so cleverly disguised these days, and self-righteous Mormons are falling for it faster than oiled boots on a block of ice.

The idea that Jesus Christ was a socialist and that the Church is a socialist institution is not the philosophy of man mingled with scripture.
It's not scripture at all.
It's just purely the philosophy of man, put forth with blind impunity and a haughty and self righteous attitude by certain misguided people.
But there will always be confused people in this world, some of whom will be very humble, others of them grandly egotistical.

Columbus was brought here by God. The pilgrims were brought here by God. The land was taken from the unrighteous and given to the righteous.marc wrote: ↑January 27th, 2018, 2:16 pm Well, Jesus Christ also rightly prophesied and warned of the manner in which this gentile nation will end. If the Lord's "covenant people" who are members of His "true church" do not believe Christ's own words, then what hope is there for them to facilitate the redemption of Zion without exercising charity, brotherly kindness, longsuffering, godliness, etc? None. And speaking of stolen goods, this nation, which was promised to Lehi's seed (Lamanites), was stolen from them in a farce of a treaty. Lehi's posterity will not be ignored forever. He will give it back to them whose "right it is to give."
It will happen again when we as a people are fully ripe for destruction.
The destruction will come upon all wicked, both American and Lamanite. The land will be given to the righteous, both American and Lamanite.
Just because someone is a descendent of Lehi, does not guarantee their inheriting this land, righteousness does.

I believe that the Lord has purposefully given every people who possess this land the opportunity to be redeemed and why it was consecrated to be a land of liberty in order to worship Him. And when they are not, they become swept off.Michelle wrote: ↑January 27th, 2018, 8:59 pmColumbus was brought here by God. The pilgrims were brought here by God. As for the Lamanites, well, Lehi had something to say about that. Before Lehi died, he blessed his children according to promises given to him by the Lord:Ether 2:8 And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them.
9 And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity.
10 For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.
11 And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God—that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.
12 Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written.
This promise was reiterated to Enos:2 Nephi 1:5 But, said he, notwithstanding our afflictions, we have obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed. Yea, the Lord hath covenanted this land unto me, and to my children forever, and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord.
Lehi made sure to bless the posterity of Laman and Lemuel:18 And the Lord said unto me: Thy fathers have also required of me this thing; and it shall be done unto them according to their faith; for their faith was like unto thine.
2 Nephi 4:3 Wherefore, after my father had made an end of speaking concerning the prophecies of Joseph, he called the children of Laman, his sons, and his daughters, and said unto them: Behold, my sons, and my daughters, who are the sons and the daughters of my firstborn, I would that ye should give ear unto my words.
4 For the Lord God hath said that: Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence.
5 But behold, my sons and my daughters, I cannot go down to my grave save I should leave a blessing upon you; for behold, I know that if ye are brought up in the way ye should go ye will not depart from it.
6 Wherefore, if ye are cursed, behold, I leave my blessing upon you, that the cursing may be taken from you and be answered upon the heads of your parents.
7 Wherefore, because of my blessing the Lord God will not suffer that ye shall perish; wherefore, he will be merciful unto you and unto your seed forever.
8 And it came to pass that after my father had made an end of speaking to the sons and daughters of Laman, he caused the sons and daughters of Lemuel to be brought before him.
9 And he spake unto them, saying: Behold, my sons and my daughters, who are the sons and the daughters of my second son; behold I leave unto you the same blessing which I left unto the sons and daughters of Laman; wherefore, thou shalt not utterly be destroyed; but in the end thy seed shall be blessed.

Tons of people mistake all the "Dreamers" as Mexicans but they are not. Many come up from Mexico but the Mexicans do not want them to stay there. These people are from places like Central America and are dirt poor and uneducated. But many others from non-Latin nations see Mexico as a conduit point. They are from places like Somalia and other African nations and Afghanistan. It is easy to get into Mexico and as long as they don't stay the Mexican authorities don't care.

One other thing. If a stray animal follows me home because I give it treats or encouragement, and then I open my neighbor's fence and let him in, and then, when the neighbor comes out and asks what the heck I am doing and I respond that it is his duty to now give that animal shelter and food from now on, can I say I have done a good deed?

If you think salvation is free, you're not working hard enough for it...
Not even Jesus had free salvation.

Lehi disagrees with you.
Salvation is free. All you have to do is come unto Jesus who ransomed you.2 Nephi 2:4 And thou hast beheld in thy youth his glory; wherefore, thou art blessed even as they unto whom he shall minister in the flesh; for the Spirit is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. And the way is prepared from the fall of man, and salvation is free.

Did the Nephites take their goods over to the Lamanite poor? No.
Did they allow the Lamanites to steal their flocks, lands, etc.? No.
Did they take them the gospel? YES.
How many millions of dollars has the church, and its members, spent taking the gospel to Lamanites? Millions? Tens of millions? Is that charity? I would count it as such.
The Lord gave the land to Lehi and his righteous posterity. The Lamanites came along for the relative ride, and wanted one--off the Nephites--for the rest of the time they existed...

If Mexico on down IS (also?) the promised land, what are the scriptures talking about?
Do illegal immigrants "serve God"? Rarely.
Do they "keep [His] commandments"? Rarely.
Have the American Indians been utterly destroyed? No.
Was that the same promise to Enos? I don't remember it that way.
Does the Lord covenant with the unrighteous? No.
Who are the seed of Lehi? :https://bookofmormonnotes.wordpress.com ... -by-grego/

2 Nephi 1:8
8 And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance.
9 ...And if it so be that they shall keep his commandments they shall be blessed upon the face of this land, and there shall be none to molest them, nor to take away the land of their inheritance; and they shall dwell safely forever. (Why would there be a need to teach this line?)
Ether 1:38
38 And it came to pass that Jared spake again unto his brother, saying: Go and inquire of the Lord whether he will drive us out of the land, and if he will drive us out of the land, cry unto him whither we shall go. And who knoweth but the Lord will carry us forth into a land which is choice above all the earth? And if it so be, let us be faithful unto the Lord, that we may receive it for our inheritance. (Will we be driven out of the land? The people of Ammon were driven out of the land by the wicked trying to destroy the early church among the Lamanites. Nobody is pointing out that its possible for the wicked to drive the good out of the land. And they would do so because people that are good need stability and because we dont' kill, or steal to live its not as easy for us. Someone who doesn't care about thinking of killing or stealing from their neighbor will easily not worry about how to provide a living.)
