US nuclear sub returns flying pirate flag, sparking speculation

Post by BeNotDeceived »

Ironic ,, that the Jimmy Carter is up to who knows what :?: When Jimmy Carter was one, that propelled technology forward, that is capable of neutralizing hurricanes, and OPEC too.

He was a Nuclear Engineer for the US Navy, that will recoup much of his legacy, in retrospect.

The black flag emblazoned with a skull and crossbones is of significance, says Scottish journalist Ian Keddie, who posted one of the photos on Twitter. The tradition of flying it dates to 1914, during World War I, when a British submarine sank the German battle cruiser Hela, according to the historical book “https://www.amazon.com/Submarines-War-1 ... ar 1939-45,” the paper reported.

Sounds like they were celebrating a success of some type. Given the brief history of the submarine / jolly roger history in the article, I think they were given a difficult mission and were successful. We may never know what they accomplished but I would be interested if anyone dug up more information. Nice catch!

... On September 11 — 8 days after North Korea’s sixth nuclear test — the UN Security Council (UNSC) did unanimously approve a U.S.-revised resolution that imposes new sanctions on North Korea. The resolution tightened the economic noose around North Korea’s neck. For the first time the UNSC targeted oil — capping North Korea’s crude and refined oil imports and banning the sale of natural gas or its derivatives to Pyongyang. It also banned North Korea’s exports of textiles, froze hiring of overseas laborers, prohibited for-profit joint ventures with other countries, and sanctioned some specific North Korean government entities. But this came after intense negotiations on its wording and was considerably less than what the U.S. wanted — which included a ban on all oil and oil product imports and coal export and sanctions on particular people such as Kim Jong-un himself. But it does add substantially to the already long list of banned imports and exports to and from North Korea.

However, the loophole is that banned items can still be “smuggled” ...
Subs will surely be at the ready, should they be called upon, as ships are boarded.
