Artificial intelligence to leave 'third of population' unemployed with self-driving cars | Daily Star

A THIRD of the population faces sickening unemployment because of self-driving cars, a damning prediction reveals.

Vehicles that transport people using artificial intelligence are on course to become a frequent sight on our roads.

But if they are thrust into the mass market and prove popular, an expert has warned they will wreak havoc on the global economy.

Professor in Computer Engineering, Dr Subhash Kak, believes a third of jobs will be lost soon after their introduction.

It comes after his bombshell prediction, given to this website, that AI will "sink the world into unemployed despair" in a hellish "dystopia", because humans will be put out of work.

Geoengineering: Creating clouds to stop global warming could wreak havoc on world's animals and plants

To counteract global warming, humans may someday consider spraying sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere to form clouds — and artificially cool the Earth.

The idea behind the process, known as geoengineering, is to keep global warming under control — with the ideal solution still being a reduction in the emissions of greenhouse gases.

However, suddenly stopping that spraying would have a "devastating" global impact on animals and plants, potentially even leading to extinction, according to the first study on the potential biological impacts of climate intervention.

It is coming faster than many of us realize. Utah is planning for it, spending money on it, and paying people to figure out driverless busses and cars. I think it could be here in less than three years.

The century of freedom of movement is over.

Strzok Sent 'Jaw Dropping' Text Mes | The Daily Caller

The FBI’s top agent on the Trump-Russia investigation sent a text message last year that one top Republican senator says suggests he saw no evidence of Trump campaign collusion.

The text message, which was sent by Peter Strzok, is “jaw-dropping,” Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said in a radio interview on Tuesday.

Motel 6 Locations in Phoenix Were Sharing Guest Lists With ICE

A report yesterday noted that two Phoenix, Arizona Motel 6 locations had a habit of providing the names of their guests to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The controversial guest-reporting method apparently led to at least 20 immigration-related arrests at the motels in question over the course of the past seven months. Quoted in the article is an unnamed front-desk clerk, who said:
We send a report every morning to ICE — all the names of everybody that comes in. Every morning at about 5 o’clock, we do the audit and we push a button and it sends it to ICE.
No employees were willing to speak on the record, however, and Motel 6’s corporate office–as well as their media department–ignored phone calls about the issue for “several weeks” before the story broke.

A local ICE spokesperson similarly demurred. Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe, the agency’s Phoenix-area Public Affairs Officer, said, “I wouldn’t be able to confirm how we are getting our information. Those are investigative techniques that we wouldn’t be able to talk about.” O’Keefe then seemed to tip her hand, saying:
If hypothetically we were somewhere — if we did administratively arrest some folks — that happens all the time. We conduct targeted enforcement operations every day.
And, apparently the hints and suspicions were more or less right on the money. A report issued today confirms the guest-reporting activities of at least one Motel 6 location.

After the Phoenix New Times published the initial report yesterday, it ignited a massive backlash and firestorm online. Editorial cartoons were fierce and unforgiving. The ACLU got involved. Motel 6’s social media accounts drew unprecedented amounts of unchecked scorn. Pro-Trump commentators and conservatives celebrated giddily at the news that people’s names were being turned in to the feds.

After all that, Motel 6’s corporate office was prompted to respond–by confirming the report and disavowing the practice of turning guest information over to federal authorities. Via Twitter they wrote:

Sen. Johnson: FBI Informant Says 'Secret Society' Held Secret Meetings

An FBI informant has apparently informed Congress that a secret society at the FBI was holding secret meetings off-site after the election of Donald Trump.

On Special Report with Bret Baier Tuesday evening, Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) called it "corruption of the highest levels of the FBI."

"That secret society — we have an informant that's talking about a group that were holding secret meetings off-site," Johnson said. "There is so much smoke here."

Another Claim: Tamiflu Caused Child To Twitch, Hallucinate, Bang Head « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

ROCKWALL COUNTY, Texas (CBS11) – Another North Texas family is speaking out about what they believe are side effects from a popular flu treatment.

A Rockwall County family said their nearly 2-year-old son was twitching, hallucinating and slamming his head in pain after taking Tamiflu this month. The odd reactions only stopped they said, when they stopped giving him prescribed doses of the drug

Andrea and Josh Wallen had an ambulance take their son Steven to the hospital this month after he experienced seizures at home. After doctors diagnosed him with the flu and started him on treatment, the Wallen’s said their son changed almost immediately.

Federal Spending Set Record During Shutdown

(CNSNews.com) - Federal spending for the fourth Monday in January set a record of $16,596,000,000 for that day in January even though the federal government was shut down, according to the Daily Treasury Statement.

The House of Representatives did not pass the current short-term continuing resolution to fund the government and end the latest shutdown until 6:09 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday. That was after the close of the business day in Washington, D.C., which made Monday the one federal-government business day effected by the lastest shut down. (The other two days of the shut down were a Saturday and a Sunday.)

But the $16,596,000,000 that the federal government spent on Monday--when it was shut down--was more in constant inflation-adjusted dollars than the federal government has spent before on the fourth Monday in January, according to the Daily Treasury Statements (going back to 1998) that are posted on the website of the Treasury Department’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service.

Trudeau: Abortion clause in summer jobs grant application shouldn't put off religious groups
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says religious groups shouldn’t be discouraged from applying to the Canada Summer Jobs program, despite a new clause in the grant application that seems to require that they endorse access to abortions.

The new attestation on the grant application requires that groups indicate their support for individual human rights as laid out in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including “reproductive rights.”

But churches and religious groups across the country are also concerned about the new attestation, which they say is forcing them to endorse a statement that goes against their beliefs.

“Because of our commitment to the sanctity of life and to biblical teachings, our government is discriminating against us,” Brad Jones, the pastor at Woodgreen Presbyterian Church in Calgary, told the Post earlier this week.

Puerto Rico warns its population and economy will plunge - CBS News

Puerto Rico's governor submitted a revised fiscal plan overnight Thursday that estimates the U.S. Caribbean territory's economy will shrink by 11 percent and its population drop by nearly 8 percent next year. The island is continuing to recover from the crippling impact of Hurricane Maria.

The proposal doesn't set aside any money to pay creditors in the next five years as the island struggles to restructure a portion of its $73 billion public debt. The original plan had set aside $800 million a year for creditors, a fraction of the roughly $35 billion due in interest and payments over the next decade.

The five-year plan also assumes Puerto Rico will receive at least $35 billion in emergency federal funds for post-hurricane recovery and another $22 billion from private insurance companies.

The next generation of smartphone cameras could see through walls - High-End Smartphones - PC & Tech Authority

The latest camera research is shifting from increasing the number of megapixels towards fusing data with computational processing
You may be pleased with the camera technology in your latest smartphone, which can recognise your face  and take slow-mo video in ultra-high definition, but these technological feats are just the start of a larger revolution.

The latest camera research is shifting away from increasing the number of megapixels towards fusing camera data with computational processing. By that, we don't mean the Photoshop style of processing where effects and filters are added to a picture, but rather a radical new approach where the incoming data may not actually look like at an image at all. It only becomes an image after a series of computational steps that often involve complex mathematics and modelling how light travels through the scene or the camera.

This additional layer of processing magically frees us from the chains of conventional imaging techniques. One day we may not even need cameras in the conventional sense any more. Instead we will use light detectors that only a few years ago we would never have considered any use for imaging. And they will be able to do incredible things, like see through fog, inside the human body and even behind walls.

Is the humble sandwich a climate change culprit?

Scientists at the University of Manchester have found a surprising global warming culprit – sandwiches. In the first study of its kind, the researchers carried out an in-depth audit of various sandwiches throughout their life cycles and found the triangular meals could be responsible for the equivalent annual carbon emissions of 8.6 million cars in Britain alone.

Couched in anti-immigration language, one of the most Orwellian bills to be proposed in Congress in a long time has been introduced by several Republican House members. The main sponsor of the bill is Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA-6). The bill already has 70 co-sponsors. The bill was introduced on January 10.

H.R. 4760 forces a new bio-metric National ID on every American citizen. One would not be able to get a job, get a loan, open a bank account, or board a plane without this National ID. And as is always the case, there is a total blackout in reporting on this bill by the mainstream media.

Dr. Ron Paul summarizes this draconian bill as follows:

◾Allow federal bureaucrats to include bio-metric identification information on the card, potentially even including fingerprints, retinal scans, or scans of veins on the back of hands, which could easily be used as a tracking device;

◾Be required for all U.S. workers regardless of place of birth, making it illegal for anyone to hold a job in the United States who doesn’t obtain an ID card;

◾Require all employers to purchase an “ID scanner” to verify the ID cards with the federal government. Every time any citizen applies for a job, the government would know — and you can bet its only a matter of time until “ID scans” will be required to make even routine purchases, as well.

Dr. Paul points out:

"For years now, statists in BOTH parties have been fighting to RAM their radical National ID-database scheme into law.

"In fact, this scheme was a key portion of the infamous failed “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” bills BOTH parties tried to ram through during the Obama administration.

"Now, using the momentum behind Trump’s tough talk on immigration and border security, I’m afraid the statists believe the best way to finally enact their National ID scheme is by promoting their bill on Capitol Hill as a “DACA fix” while they sell it to the GOP base as a border “security” measure.

"Of course, that’s nothing more than a buzzword meant to trick Americans from all over the country into thinking that Congress is going to seal our southern border.

"But in reality, it means something far different.

"The “security” members of BOTH parties in the U.S. House want doesn’t target any U.S. border. Instead, it’s meant to create an all-out police state within them."

I will be following this bill closely. Right now, the bill seems to be immensely popular in the Republican caucus and I can detect NO significant opposition.

I cannot stress enough how horrible this bill is!!! We need to start informing everyone we know about this bill and generate LOUD OPPOSITION QUICKLY. ~ Chuck Baldwin

California Considers $1,000 Fine for Waiters Offering Unsolicited Plastic Straws - Hit & Run : Reason.com

Calderon, the Democratic majority leader in California's lower house, has introduced a bill to stop sit-down restaurants from offering customers straws with their beverages unless they specifically request one. Under Calderon's law, a waiter who serves a drink with an unrequested straw in it would face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

"We need to create awareness around the issue of one-time use plastic straws and its detrimental effects on our landfills, waterways, and oceans," Calderon explained in a press release.

DOJ recovers missing text messages between anti-Trump FBI agents Strzok and Page | Fox News

The Department of Justice has recovered missing text messages between anti-Trump FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, the DOJ’s inspector general said Thursday.

In a letter sent to congressional committees, Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz said his office “succeeded in using forensic tools to recover text messages from FBI devices, including text messages between Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page that were sent or received between December 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017.”

“Our effort to recover any additional text messages is ongoing,” Horowitz said. “We will provide copies of the text messages that we recover from these devices to the Department so that the Department’s leadership can take any management action it deems appropriate.”

Fox News has learned from U.S. government officials that the inspector general recovered the texts by taking possession of "at least four" phones belonging to Strzok and Page.
