Greetings All!

I am sending you this email to cover all bases. Just in case you haven't
heard by now it is important to make sure you are in the loop and please
share this information with your various email lists, facebook, twitter
and the good ole grapevine.

Massachusetts is one of only 6 states that does not have a method to
decertify police officers ie revoke their license to practice law
enforcement after an egregious offense just like lawyers, doctors,
accountants, barbers, contractors, etc. This is a winnable situation in
this state as so many legal experts, politicians and even law
enforcement agree with it. We have the rare issue where politicians,
police, preachers and protesters can all agree on this common sense
reform. In fact, I am happy to report we just got a letter of support
from The International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement
Standards and Training (IADLEST) who maintains the current National
Decertification Index (NDI) which currently contains 20,570 actions
reported by 39 states.

Barack Obama ended opium eradication efforts in Afghanistan in 2009, effectively green lighting Afghan opium production and the Afghan heroin trade. By 2010, all US efforts to eradicate Afghan opium ceased. It has been US policy to allow Afghan opium growing and the heroin trade since. US heroin deaths tripled from 3,036 in 2010 to 10,574 in 2014 as a result.

{**} https://www.youtube.com/music" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; audio {**}

Vanda Felbab-Brown at the Brookings Institution, a liberal think tank that often writes reports supporting the Obama Administration, penned “No Easy Exit: Drugs and Counternarcotics Strategies in Afghanistan” in advance of the April 2016 UN Summit on Drugs (UNGASS). No way out for Uncle Sam is more like it. The report is notable for what it omits, which is any mention of the heroin epidemic, the deadliest illicit drug epidemic in history, or any of the tens of thousands of Americans killed by heroin since Obama took office.

The Bush Administration had an Afghan opium eradication program in effect, carried out by DynCorp. Obama didn’t renew DynCorp’s eradication contracts, effectively ending all US efforts to eradicate opium. (Afghan government eradication efforts in 2014, resulted in 1.1% of the Afghan opium crop being eradicated. The NY Times reported that the Afghan government will no longer eradicate opium crops as of 2016.) Heroin is made from opium.

Ms. Felbab-Brown might as well have said “let them eat cake” to the tens of thousands of Americans killed by heroin since 2009, the millions now hooked on heroin and the tens of millions living in terror because of loved ones now hooked on this deadly poison.

US policy changed to permit opium growing and the heroin trade during Obama’s first year in office, as a way to minimize US troop casualties in Afghanistan. And to maximize US civilian casualties in the US from heroin.

The CIA defines blowback as the ‘consequences at home of operations overseas.’

Since ending eradication efforts, US heroin deaths shot up from 3,036 (2010) to 5,925 (2012) to 10,574 in 2014. The heroin death toll continues to shoot up as does the number of heroin users, from the 1,500,000 US heroin users in 2010 to 4,500,000 users in 2015. As heroin deaths under Obama tripled, so has heroin usage.

There were 7,600 hectares of Afghan opium poppies when the War in Afghanistan began in 2001. (1 hectare = 2.5 US acres.) In 2009, there were 123,000 hectares. By 2014, Afghan poppy fields spread to 224,000 hectares resulting in a bumper crop of 6,400 tons of opium, enough to make 640,000 kilograms of heroin, thanks to Obama. Opium yields far greater profit than foods like wheat or corn, so opium production will continue to rise without serious eradication efforts.

Afghanistan is by far the number one producer of opium and heroin. Total worldwide opium production was 7,554 tons in 2014, of which 85% came from Afghanistan. The remaining 1,154 tons are primarily from Myanmar, Laos, Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam.

Mexico produced 162 tons of opium in 2014, enough to make 16,200 kilograms of heroin. An average heroin addict takes 0.15 kg of heroin a year, meaning Mexican heroin could only supply 108,000 heroin addicts. Heroin from Mexico cannot supply even 10% of US heroin demand.

Yet the DEA claims most heroin in the US is from Mexico. I asked Barbara Carreno and Russell Baer at the DEA questions like how such a mathematical impossibility was told by the DEA. They dodged many questions, claiming only 4% of heroin is from Afghanistan and the rest is mostly from Mexico. Carreno and Baer acknowledged 90% of heroin in Canada is from Afghanistan, but wouldn’t acknowledge that the USA has a border with Canada, only with Mexico.

We’re getting hit with the largest ever illicit drug epidemic in American history and the DEA is asleep at the wheel.

USA’s now #1 for heroin use. US heroin demand is 415,000 kilograms a year. The whole world, except Afghanistan, could only produce 115,400 kilograms of heroin (2014), not enough for even a third of the mushrooming US demand. Most heroin in the US is coming from US-occupied Afghanistan, there is no other mathematical possibility. There is no other physical possibility.

Carreno and Baer stated “we are a small press office with many queries to answer, and your line of questioning is expanding. I’m sorry to have to say that we will not able to assist you further.” I filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for information about what the DEA has been doing (if anything) about Afghan opium and heroin.

I also asked the DEA people if they know how bad the heroin epidemic’s gotten or have any sense of urgency about it, they dodged these questions too. An American now gets killed every 32 minutes by heroin. Carreno and Baer seemed like they couldn’t care less and they don’t feel like answering most questions asked.

Perhaps the DEA people would answer questions (or plead the 5th) at Congressional Hearings.

Basic math shows that Mexico cannot produce enough heroin for even 1/10th of US demand. Besides 4,500,000 American heroin users (2,500,000 addicts and 2,000,000 casual users) and 10,000+ US heroin deaths a year, are the tens of millions of loved ones and neighbors living through hell because of this biggest ever drug epidemic in history.

One New Yorker summed it up “with heroin addicts on every block now, it’s like a zombie invasion.” One small American town has 190 HIV+ people due to IV narcotics use. The War in Afghanistan is the longest ever war in US history and the “collateral damage” of Americans being killed by Afghan heroin is shooting up.

Afghanistan has been known as the Graveyard of the Empires since Alexander the Great. Afghan heroin may yet destroy the American Empire. Since Obama green lighted Afghan opium and heroin, crime’s been shooting up in many places like Baltimore, considered to be ground zero for the heroin epidemic and the canary in the coal mine for the rest of the nation.

False narratives have proliferated recently about the heroin epidemic. One such narrative is ‘the Mexicans did it.’ Mexico, producing enough opium for 16.2 tons of heroin (2014), has enough for only 4% of current US heroin demand. The Mexicans didn’t do th

Mark Lane, 89; lawyer offered evidence for Kennedy conspiracy

 MAY 13, 2016
NEW YORK — Mark Lane, the defense lawyer, social activist, and
best-selling author who concluded in a blockbuster book in the
mid-1960s that Lee Harvey Oswald could not have acted alone in killing
President John F. Kennedy, a thesis supported in part by the House
Select Committee on Assassinations in 1979, died Tuesday at his home
in Charlottesville, Va. He was 89.

The cause was a heart attack,

In its final report in 1979, the House committee went further than any
branch of government to support the central points of Mr. Lane’s
thesis about Kennedy’s murder. It concluded that the FBI and the
Warren Commission investigations of the assassination were flawed.

The committee also found that while Oswald fired three shots, one of
which killed Kennedy, a “high probability” existed that a second
gunman was present and that the president “was probably assassinated
as a result of a conspiracy.” The committee, though, was “unable to
identify the other gunman or the extent of the conspiracy.”

The longtime home of photographer Ernest Withers is well on its way to
becoming only the third single-lot historic district in Memphis.

The Land Use Control Board on Thursday voted to recommend that the
City Council give final approval for the designation.

The action would preserve for posterity what appears as just a typical
ranch-style home of white brick built 63 years ago at 480 W. Brooks
Road in South Memphis' Walker Estates neighborhood.

The landmarks designation also could set the stage for the family's
plan to open the home for tourism.

Withers, who died in 2007 at age 85, was a prolific photographer of
more than six decades of black history in the segregated South.

His images chronicled the Montgomery bus boycott, the Emmett Till
case, sanitation workers strike, Negro League baseball and Memphis
blues and soul musicians. The pictures also captured the more ordinary
lives of black Memphians.

Withers' body of work seems to have outweighed any taint from the
three-year-old revelations that he also worked as a paid informant for
the FBI's investigation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Southern
Christian Leadership Conference.

FBI Got Its Man, But Family Seethes
(it was the Kentucky State Police who
solved the crime and arrested Putnam)

POSTED: August 12, 1990
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Before depositing the nude body of his pregnant lover and informant in a weed-covered ravine, FBI agent Mark S. Putnam kissed her on the cheek.
But this single expression of tenderness toward 28-year-old Susan Daniels Smith, whom he later confessed to strangling in a fit of "uncontrolled rage," did not deter Putnam from hiding his crime.
By his own account, instead of turning himself in, Putnam called his wife, Kathy, methodically cleaned the blood out of his blue Ford Tempo rental car and then lied repeatedly to Kentucky State Police investigating Smith's June 8, 1989, disappearance.
A year later, after failing a polygraph test, this churchgoing former soccer champion became the first FBI agent to be convicted of homicide. Putnam, 30, pleaded guilty June 12 in Pike Circuit Court to first-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
For Smith's family, the year between crime and punishment was an emotional roller coaster of frustration, hope and despair. Within two weeks after Smith disappeared, Smith's sister and an FBI agent had provided state police with evidence pointing to Putnam's involvement.
Now, angered by the plea agreement and the reluctance of state and federal authorities to focus on Putnam as a suspect, family members are accusing the FBI of helping to cover up its agent's misdeeds.
"They used her and they killed her and they dumped her out like a bag of garbage," said Shelby Ward, Smith's sister, who said that even Putnam's latest version of the incident is "filled with lies."
Ward, 35, who has filed a wrongful-death suit against Putnam and a similar claim against the FBI, said in an interview that she believed that her sister's killing was a "cold-blooded murder" and that a more zealous investigation would have led to Putnam more quickly and netted him a stiffer sentence.
The FBI has launched an internal review of its handling of the Putnam case, said Bill Cheek, an FBI spokesman in Louisville. "Your questions are premature," he said. "Obviously, it's very easy for a relative to criticize what we've done."
Capt. John Lile, a spokesman for the Kentucky State Police, said that it was unfair to "Monday morning quarterback" the investigation. "The bottom line is, it's the same result: He's in jail and we put him there," Lile said. ''We did what we had to do. We got our man."
*
Susan Smith grew up poor in the Tug Valley, best known for the legendary 19th-century feuding between the Hatfields and the McCoys. Ward said that their great-grandmother's uncle was "Devil Ance" Hatfield, so called for his meanness.
Smith, the fifth of nine children raised by coal miner Sid Daniels and his wife, Tracy, lived in an isolated, wooded creek hollow in Freeburn, an old coal camp near the West Virginia border.
Tracy Daniels remembers her daughter as a good student and a cheerleader. Against her family's wishes, Susan left school after eighth grade and, at 19, married Kenneth D. Smith of Vulcan, W.Va.
The Smiths had a son, Brady, and a daughter, Meranda, and were divorced about six years ago. But, Ward said, Kenneth Smith stuck around his ex-wife, refusing to leave.
They were an odd couple, prone to violent fights, her relatives said. Kenneth Smith, who declined to be interviewed, worked infrequently and had occasional run-ins with the law, including traffic violations and a misdemeanor drug possession conviction. Meanwhile, Susan Smith began operating as a police informant.
One of those she helped was Bert Hatfield, chief sheriff's deputy for Pike County. It was Hatfield who, in September 1987, introduced her to a young FBI agent whose diligence had impressed him.
"He was really everything that you expected of a police officer," Hatfield said of Putnam. "He enjoyed his work. . . . He wasn't a clock- watcher."
Putnam, originally from Connecticut, had co-captained a championship soccer team at the University of Tampa. After completing a training program at the FBI Academy at Quantico, Va., he was given his first assignment in Pikeville.
The father of two, he attended Catholic church and coached soccer at the YMCA. "He was great with the kids. He was really patient with them," said Nancy Short, who was then the YMCA's program director.
From the start, Ward said, Smith's family had warned her against becoming involved with the FBI. "She had all of our lives in danger" because "people don't like rats around here," Ward said.
But, Ward said, "she told me she had to. . . . It was like she was in something that she couldn't get out of, like she knew too much. She told me that she knew things on Putnam and the FBI that could ruin them all."
Putnam's relationship with Smith appeared professionally productive for both of them. Smith helped Putnam convict a one-time friend of hers, Carl ''Cat Eyes" Lockhart, of bank robbery and claimed to have assisted him on other robbery and drug cases. The FBI paid her $9,000 for her troubles, a healthy sum for a woman on welfare.
But Smith wanted more than money. "When she met Putnam, she thought that was the handsomest man she'd ever seen in her life, and she fell in love with him," Ward said.
In his nine-page sworn confession, Putnam said he had sex with Smith no more than four or five times, always in his car.
But Billy Joe Daniels said that his sister gave him $100 or $150 once or twice a week for two years to drive her to what she said were romantic trysts with Putnam in Pikeville, an hour from Freeburn. Ward said that the two made love in motel rooms, an abandoned airport, mountain strip mines, even Putnam's house when his wife was away.
"She would do anything for Putnam. . . . I'd never seen nothing like it in my life - anybody that would fall in love and get so possessed over a guy like she did," Ward said. "And the way she talked, he filled her head that he loved her, too."
Bert Hatfield suggested, however, that much of the affair may have taken place in Smith's mind. "Susan Smith would have said that she was having an affair with President Bush," he said. ". . . She thought every guy was crazy about her."
At the time she died, Smith may have felt she had lost Putnam. "He wanted out," Ward said. Smith had had a miscarriage in January, Ward said, but was again pregnant in February with Putnam's child. Ward said that Putnam's FBI partner, Ron Poole, and probably at least one of his superiors, knew about the pregnancy.
By April, though, Putnam had transferred to Florida. Before he left, Ward said, her sister told him of the second pregnancy. "She said he tried to shove her out the car door then - and the car still running," Ward said.
A worried Ward began to fear for her sis

Armed FBI agents raid home of researcher who found unsecured patient data
Prosecutors allegedly say he exceeded authorization in viewing unsecured FTP server.
May 27, 2016 2:30pm EDT

FBI agents, one armed with an assault weapon, reportedly raided the home of a security professional who discovered sensitive data for 22,000 dental patients was available on the Internet, according to a report published Friday.

Justin Shafer, who is described as a dental computer technician and software security researcher, reportedly said the raid happened on Tuesday at 6:30am as he, his wife, and three young children were sleeping. He said it started when his doorbell rang incessantly and someone banged hard on his door. According to Friday's report:

“My first thought was that my dad had died,” Shafer told Daily Dot in a phone interview, “but then as I went to the door, I saw all the flashing blue and red lights.”

With the baby crying in fear from the racket, Shafer opened the door to find what he estimated to be 12 to 15 FBI agents. One was “pointing a ‘big green’ assault weapon at me,” Shafer told Daily Dot, “and the baby’s crib was only feet from the door.”

The agents allegedly ordered Shafer to put his hands behind his back. As they handcuffed him, his 9-year-old daughter cried in terror, Shafter said, and his wife tried to tell the agents that there were three young children in the house.

Once handcuffed, Shafer was taken outside, still in his boxer shorts, still not knowing what was going on or why.

Over the next few hours, the agents seized all of Shafer’s computers and devices—“and even my Dentrix magazines,” Shafer said. “The only thing they left was my wife’s phone.” The seized property list, a copy of which was provided to Daily Dot, shows that federal agents took 29 items.
Enter Eaglesoft
A FBI agent told Shafer the raid stemmed from an incident in February, when Shafer discovered a file transfer protocol server operated by Eaglesoft, a provider of dental practice management software. The FTP server reportedly stored patient data in a way that made it easily accessible to anyone. Shafer contacted DataBreaches.net and asked for help privately notifying the software maker, and once the patient data was secured, the breach notification site published this disclosure. In a blog post of his own, Shafer later discussed the FTP lapse and a separate Eaglesoft vulnerability involving hard-coded database credentials.

The FBI agent reportedly told Shafer that

WATCH Secret Service Agents May Be Facing Suspension
A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) investigation into the U.S. Secret Service’s disclosure of the personnel files of Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) has resulted in discipline for 41 agents.

The leaker has also resigned, according to a statement by DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson.

The conduct of 57 Secret Service personnel was reviewed, including 11 in the Senior Executive Service level, the highest levels of government. Of those, 41 are receiving some level of discipline, according to the statement by Johnson.

The discipline ranges from a letter of reprimand to suspensions from duty without pay for periods of up to 45 days.

The person who was found to have disclosed the private information the Washington Post, has resigned from the Secret Service, said Johnson.

"Like many others I was appalled by the episode reflected in the Inspector General’s report, which brought real discredit to the Secret Service," said Johnson.

In Oct. 2015, the Inspector General of Homeland Security found that agents dug into the confidential personnel files of Chaffetz, who was leading an investigation into a string of security lapses and scandals at the Secret Service.

The Congressman, who is is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, had applied for a job with the Secret Service years before he was elected to the House and agents were looking for something that might embarrass him, according to the IG report.

The IG found that the internal agency data search was launched just 18 minutes after a hearing chaired by Chaffetz slammed the Secret Service for lax discipline and poor performance.

"This should have never happened and should not happen again," Chaffetz said in a statement in response to

Jess Sundin promotes defense of Rasmea Odeh at Left Forum
By Michela Martinazzi | May 27, 2016

Jess Sundin, of the Committee to Stop FBI Repression speaking at Left Forum. (FightBack!News/Michela Martinazzi)
New York, New York - Every year in New York, leftists gather for the Left Forum. This year, the Left Forum took place May 20-22 and included several hundred workshops on an array of topics - from Venezuela to the current electoral climate.

Jess Sundin, a longtime member of Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) and the Committee to Stop FBI Repression spoke on a panel regarding political prisoners called, “What Has Happened to Leftist Theology and What Has This Got to Do With Political Prisoners in the Day of the & 'trumpocalipse’?” and another panel entitled “The Trump/Clinton/Obama Triumpherate?” She was joined by important speakers, such as Lynn Stewart and Pam Africa.

Sundin spoke about her experience facing political repression and the ongoing case of Rasmea Odeh. Odeh is a Palestinian American leader who is challenging her unjust convicted on a trumped-up immigration charge. Sundin stated, “When the government arrested Rasmea, you know their plan was to have her locked up or deported by now. But they failed. We made them fail. And each day that Rasmea is running around free in Chicago, they fail again. And again we turn their repression into a stage, where we stand with Rasmea, waving the Palestinian flag, advancing the struggle for a free Palestine.”

Sundin speaking about Odeh couldn’t have come at a better time. Odeh’s next day in court will be June 13 in Detroit, Michigan. The Committee to Stop FBI Repression has put out a call to action for folks to go to Detroit and stand in solidarity with Odeh. In New York, there will be a rally around that date.

The facebook event for the New York rally is at https://www.facebook.com/events/1047337341987172/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Funding the FBI
By CHRIS EDWARDS SHARE
On Fox News last night, Megyn Kelly agreed with her guest James Kallstrom that the FBI needs a larger budget. The horrific attack in Orlando has raised the issue of whether the FBI has sufficient resources to investigate potential terrorists.

I don’t know how large the FBI budget should be. The agency does fill a lot of crucial roles, including tackling never-ending corruption in federal, state, and local governments.

But I do know that the FBI has not been starved; its budget has grown rapidly. The chart, from DownsizingGovernment.org, shows that FBI spending in constant 2016 dollars has more than tripled since 1990, from $2.7 billion to $9.1 billion.

Ford Foundation, a philanthropic facade for the CIA

by Paul Labarique

Between 1947 and 1966 the Ford Foundation played a key role in the network of US interference in Europe through the subvention of magazines, scientific programs and non-communist left-wing organizations. The largest philanthropic organization in the world was in fact providing a respectful facade for CIA financial and contact operations. This role was even more possible by the fact that the same persons designed and directed both organizations. Below you will find the first part of our research on the cultural aspects of the Atlantic interventionism.

FBI in Salt Lake City discusses
current threats in wake of Orlando attacks
POSTED 9:32 PM, JUNE 16, 2016,
SALT LAKE CITY -- The FBI office in Salt Lake City has been flooded with calls since the weekend's attack in Orlando.

Eric Barnhart, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Salt Lake City office, confirms their biggest threat is homegrown violent extremists.

"That is our greatest concern," he said. "We've described it as searching for needles in a haystack of needles."

Barnhart admits there are several people under investigation in this region, which includes Utah, Idaho, and Montana, but says there's no reason to be alarmed.

"We have no actionable plans or intent or any indications that anything is imminent," Barnhart said.

Many have raised conce

FBI Contradicts Account Of ‘Miguel’ — Mateen’s Alleged Gay Lover

June 24, 2016 at 3:53pm

In the initial aftermath of the Orlando attack earlier this month, all
that was known was that a 29 year-old man, Omar Mateen, killed 49
people at gay nightclub and had been heard pledging allegiance to
ISIS.

Rumors soon surfaced that Mateen himself was gay, with a man even
coming forward claiming to be Mateen’s gay lover. Univision, who
brought the report, kept the identity of the man private and gave him
the name “Miguel” as an alias. Miguel publicly denounced the notion
that the shooting was an act of terrorism. Instead, he said that it
was a display of revenge following Mateen’s discovery that he was HIV
positive.

Despite these recent claims, so far the FBI has not found any evidence
to support this notion.

After several men also surfaced last week claiming they had been
contacted by Mateen via various gay dating apps, the FBI began a full
investigation into the matter. Many of the men who came forward also
claimed that Mateen had been a regular at the Pulse nightclub where
the shooting took place.

However, according to a senior federal law enforcement source, after
multiple interviews and reviewing evidence collected from Mateen’s
phone, the FBI has not found any concrete evidence

Bradley Commissioner Dan Rawls Says He Has Turned Over Allegations Of
Illegal Conduct Against Sheriff Eric Watson
Friday, June 24, 2016
Bradley County Commissioner Dan Rawls said he has turned over to
authorities what he said are multiple instances of alleged illegal
conduct by Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson.

He said the gave the evidence to District Attorney Steve Crump, the
TBI and the FBI.

Commissioner Rawls said, "And there is still more there. The more you
uncover the more you become appalled."

He said some of the allegations include the disposition of a sheriff's
van, the activity of his wife, Tenille, as a bonding agent, the
sheriff's alleged involvement with a woman who has had several
arrests, and alleged threats toward him made by the sheriff.

Commissioner Rawls said he began to become suspicious after examining
some transactions in the sheriff's department that came before the
commission finance committee.

He said the van that was sold was purchased in excess of $130,000. He
said various high-tech equipment was added to it. He said it was sold
for $20,000 to a bounty hunter in Nashville identified as a friend of
the sheriff's.

Commissioner Rawls said, "At first there was no bill of sale. Then one
was produced that did not have a date on it."

He said local bonding officials were told that Ms. Watson would not be
operating in Bradley County, but in adjacent counties. He said, "That
did not turn out to be the case."

The commissioner said he checked the records and found that for three
recent months Ms. Watson wrote more bonds than several agents did for
the next highest firm. He said, "People at the jail have to be
steering cases her way."
Commissioner Rawls said, "For the sheriff's wife to be in the bonding
business is a flagrant conflict of interest."

Regarding the one who he said was closely tied to the sheriff, he said
she was placed in jail on no bond. Then, he said, she got out on a low
bond after a call from the sheriff's office saying she was working as
a confidential informant.

Commissioner Rawls said, "I was told by someone on the command staff
that she never was a confidential informant and never will be."

The commissioner said he was able to obtain over 100 messages between
Sheriff Watson and the woman. He said the communication included a
number of suggestive remarks.

He said the woman sent the sheriff a photo of herself without a shirt
and wearing a red bra.

He said one discussed them ta

FBI: Give Us the Names of Those Who Question Orlando
FBI: Give Us the Names of Those Who Question Orlando

In a letter dated June 20, 2016, the FBI ‘asked’ local law enforcement and government leaders to report the identities of anyone requesting  information on events during the infamous Orlando Massacre of June 12th.

In an expansion to a previous story by TRUNEWS, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office released a letter received from the FBI instructing them to deny all requests for information and refer news outlets seeking information to the feds.  The letter was authored by Tampa, Florida’s Special Agent in Charge Paul Wysopal.

The letter reads, in part:

As you know, this is an active, on-going investigation being conducted by the FBI. The FBI considers information obtained from state and local law enforcement agencies in furtherance of its investigation to be evidence, or potential evidence. Accordingly, the FBI is concerned that public disclosure of such records or information at this time will adversely affect our ability to effectively investigate the shooting and bring the matter to resolution; could endanger the safety of witnesses, law enforcement officers, and other individuals who have participated in or are otherwise connected with the investigation; and risks unduly prejudicing any prosecutions that may result from the investigation.

However, further in the letter, a darker tone emerges, as not only is the FBI asking for a suppression of the release of the information, but to direct all inquiries for such information to the Bureau.

Then, stunningly, the FBI asks local officials to actually turn over the names of anyone even REQUESTING information regarding the investigation into the Orlando Massacre.  In the following paragraph, the highlighted portion shows Agent Wysopal ‘asking’ local authorities to notify the FBI of any such request:

The FBI, therefore, requests that you direct requesters seeking records or information pertaining to the investigation to the FBI to request such information. We further ask that you immediately notify the FBI of any request your agency receives pursuant to Florida’s Sunshine Law or any equivalent law, or other judicial, legislative or administrative process, for records or information pertaining to the FBI’s active, on-going investigation so that the FBI can seek to prevent disclosure through appropriate channels, as necessary. Finally, to the extent your agency is obligated to respond to a request under Florida’s Sunshine Law for records and information pertaining to the FBI’s pending investigation, including information that your agency has provided to the FBI in furtherance of our investigation, we request you withhold the records pursuant to FLA. STAT. 119.71 and any other applicable exemption to help ensure that the FBI’s investigation can proceed unimpeded.

(TRUNEWS has copies of this letter from Wysopal and local officials in hand)

What that means is that any private citizen, any reporter, or any media outlet that even requests for information related to the Orlando Massacre can have their identities turned over to the FBI.  The implications of having local officials serve as the stifling arm of oppression by an investigative arm of the federal government is chilling.

Are these the earmarks of a new ‘American Gestapo’?

We see this reflected in some of the history of the Nazi regime.  In this article from The History Learning Site,

Hitler’s police state worked on the rule that if you said nothing, no harm, could come to you. If you had doubts about the way the country was going, you kept them to yourself – or paid the price. As nearly 17 million people had not voted for either the Nazis or the Nationalist in March 1933, a large and visible police force was required to keep this sizeable group under observation and control.

In Nazi Germany the police were allowed to arrest people on suspicion that they were about to do wrong. This gave the police huge powers. All local police units had to draw up a list of people in their locality who might be suspected of being “Enemies of the State”. This list was given to the Gestapo – the Secret Police. The Gestapo had the power to do as it liked. Its leader – Reinhard Heydrich – was one of the most feared man in Nazi Germany. His immediate chief was Heinrich Himmler. Both men ran their respective branches with ruthless efficiency.

This ‘request’ by the FBI to law enforcement and other local officials to ‘rat out’ those who are merely seeking truth are draconian and oppressive strategies to stifle freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

Hillary and Vince: a story of love, death, and cover-up Paperback – June 19, 2016

the death by gunshot of Hillary Clinton’s lover, lawyer, and best friend in 1993 was the highest suspicious death of a government official since JFK. Deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster handled the Clinton’s most secretive matters and hired investigators to track down and threaten dozens of women sleeping with Bill. Among the many very questionable items in the investigation of Vince Foster's death are the following: The coroner’s report says x-rays were taken, but the he testified to Senators none were taken. When a paramedic approached Foster’s body, he saw men running away into the woods. The first person to find Foster’s body guarded the entrance to the CIA. Hillary testified she did not see Foster during the month before his death. A staffer testified she was in Foster's office at least four times.

The Man Chronicling Insane Clown Posse and Why the FBI Is Spying on Juggalos

JUL 23 2016
Rock critic Steve Miller has written critically acclaimed books about everyone from Iggy Pop to Johnny Ramone. His new book examines how Insane Clown Posse went from a small Detroit rap group to a band on Disney’s record label to on the FBI’s gang list.

Rock journalist Steve Miller has written acclaimed biographies about musicians like Iggy Pop and Johnny Ramone, but for his latest book, he turns to the "worst band in the history of the world," the Insane Clown Posse and their fans known as Juggalos. Miller'sJuggalo: Insane Clown Posse and the World They Made interweaves two stories: how Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope escaped Detroit's impoverished suburbs to create a new music genre with great financial success and why the FBI has labeled the Juggalos as an organized gang. We sat down with Miller under Mike Busey's tent at the Gathering of the Juggalos to discuss police profiling, the FBI's stupidity, and ICP's musical brilliance.

Boston Bombings: Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s Immigration Records Reveal FBI Bombshell
By James Henry
Global Research, May 12, 2016

Important New Info on Boston Marathon Bombing

WhoWhatWhy has discovered that the FBI secretly flagged at least one of the “Boston Marathon bombers” as a terrorist threat in his immigration records, despite publicly denying it had done so.

This designation existed right up to the time the bombs went off at Boylston St. on April 15, 2013.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s heavily redacted immigration records, known as an A-file (alien file), were released in February under the Freedom of Information Act and posted online by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). FOIA has a “frequently requested record” provision where multiple request for the same record triggers a “reading room” (posted online) treatment of the records. WhoWhatWhy was one of those requesters.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev Photo credit: Adapted by WhoWhatWhy from Dave Newman / Flickr (CC BY 2.0)

For context, it’s important to note that soon after the bombing, uncomfortable questions were raised by WhoWhatWhy when it became clear the FBI had long been aware of Tsarnaev. Even some of the mainstream outlets, which almost uniformly have accepted the government’s version of events, couldn’t ignore this reality.

The Bureau steadfastly maintains that it determined the elder Tsarnaev (who died in an altercation with police three days after the bombing) was not any kind of a national security threat. It also denies ever having asked him to be an informant.

And yet a shadowy program used by the feds to keep individuals deemed a “national security concern” from obtaining citizenship looks like the reason Tsarnaev’s naturalization application was held up — to the very moment of his death. This program is called the Controlled Application Review and Resolution Program (CARRP).

Significantly, CARRP is also used to manipulate foreign nationals (mostly Muslims) to do the FBI’s bidding by — ironically — flagging them as a “national security concern,”according to an extensive ACLU investigation into the program.

Reeled in by CARRP?

So, what is the significance of holding Tsarnaev’s naturalization application under CARRP?

It would mean that, by definition, the FBI had not ruled out whether Tsarnaev was a  “Known or Suspected Terrorist” (KST) by the time of the bombing.

A KST is a designation under CARRP automatically given to anyone listed on the terrorist “watch list,” which

IRS DOESN'T NEED CRIMINAL INTENT TO PROSECUTE

July 27, 2016

It is a well-known fact that nothing happens in Washington DC by accident. There are no coincidences. It was not a coincidence that former president Bill Clinton suddenly appeared on the tarmac when U. S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s plane landed in Phoenix. It was no coincidence that he entered her plane and talked with her for 39 minutes without witnesses. It was no coincidence that the attending FBI agents wanted no pictures taken of the “chance” encounter. It was no coincidence that the FBI interviewed Hillary Clinton the following day. It was no coincidence that a few days later that FBI Director James Comey gave a fifteen minute statement absolving Hillary Clinton of any crime, because he said, there was no “criminal intent” even though she was carelessly negligent and the statutes didn’t require criminal intent. It was no coincidence that U. S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said she would accept the FBI’s recommendation, without her own review of the investigation. They call that a rubberstamp. When, in the history of our great Republic, did the FBI Director become defense counsel, judge and jury?

Was Comey bought off? We don’t know. But ladies and gentlemen it smells so bad as to remove all doubt that a “deal” was made at the highest level of government to save Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid. That is tyranny and corruption by any definition. Whatever respect we had for James Comey was dashed by his obviously political decision. He sacrificed honor for political expediency.

We ask you to view a nine-minute video in an under-oath exchange between U. S. Representative Jason Chaffetz and FBI Director James Comey about Hillary Clinton’s actions as Secretary of State with regard to her treatment of classified material. It will give

Last week we told the story about how former Gov. Bill Janklow made a secret op to visit Bill Clinton at the White House. Janklow was there to lobby Clinton to not release Leonard Peltier, the American Indian Movement activist who was accused in 1977 of murdering two FBI agents.

Janklow used a close personal relationship with Clinton -- and his own experiences with the incident -- to persuade Clinton that Peltier should not be released. Still, when he left Washington on Dec. 7, 2000, Janklow wasn't sure what Clinton would do.
The FBI had also been lobbying Clinton not to release Peltier. Two days before Janklow's visit, FBI Director Louis Freeh had written Clinton asking him to turn down Peltier's clemency petition.

FBI agents caught sexting, dating drug dealers, shoplifting, possessing child pornography, and beating up mistresses...
February 23, 2013

Disciplinary files from the Bureau's Office of Professional Responsibility record an extraordinary range of transgressions that reveal the chaotic personal lives of some of America's top law enforcers.

One male agent was sacked after police were called to his mistress's house following reports of domestic incident. When officers arrived they found the agent "drunk and uncooperative" and eventually had to physically subdue him and wrestle away his loaded gun.

A woman e-mailed a "nude photograph of herself to her ex-boyfriend's wife" and then continued to harass the couple despite two warnings from senior officials. The Bureau concluded she was suffering from depression related to the break-up and allowed her to return to work after 10 days.

But the sexually explicit picture was only one of what FBI assistant director Candice Will described to CNN as a "rash of sexting cases". The network was the first to obtain the logs.

Two other employees, whose genders were not specified, sent sexually explicit messages to fellow members of the Bureau, one a work Blackberry during office hours.

The second employee included a nude photograph which "created office gossip and negatively impacted office operations".

"When you are given an FBI BlackBerry, it's for official use," Ms Will said. "It's not to text the woman in another office who you found attractive or to send a picture of yourself in a state of undress."

During another incident, an employee snapped during an argument with their spouse and went on to snap an e-reader in half. As the situation deteriorated they pointed an "unloaded gun at dog's head while dog was sitting in spouse's lap". The agent was suspended for 45 days.

The logs, which contain incidents from July 2012 to January, also describe how a woman "engaged in a romantic relationship with former boyfriend (now husband) knowing he was a drug user/dealer". She was sacked after lying about the relationship.

Other firing offences included shoplifting, possession of child pornography and hiding a recording device in a supervisor's office during an employment dispute.

The incidents, and many others, were included in quarterly emails sent to all FBI employees to help them in "steering clear of ethical pitfalls and other violations".

Hot Gulf of Mexico Hurls Rain Bombs at Florida and the U.S. Gulf Coast
Rain bomb. It’s a new kind of severe rainstorm that’s capable of overwhelming a city’s flood-handling capabilities in just an hour or two. Of generating 2-inch-plus per hour rainfall events in odd places and at unexpected times. A type of severe storm that’s been enabled by all the added heat and atmospheric moisture loading resulting from human-forced climate change.

*****

(High levels of atmospheric water vapor over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico is fueling the potential for severe, damaging and life-threatening rainfall events across the Gulf Coast this week even as numerous severe flood events occur across the globe. Image source: Earth Nullschool.)

Lately, due in large part to an atmosphere and ocean surface that’s about 1.2 degrees Celsius hotter than 1880s values and related added atmospheric moisture, the powerful, damaging, and life-threatening rain bombs have been going off hard and heavy across the globe. Last week, Ellicott City was hit, killing one and generating damage that will likely take years to repair. Yesterday, about 21 people lost their lives in a freak flood that dumped 20 inches of rain over part of Macedonia. In Sudan on Saturday, the Nile reached its highest levels in 100 years as thousands of homes were destroyed and more than 75 people lost their lives. In Karachi, Pakistan this weekend, 50 percent of the city is without power and ten people have lost their lives due to flooding. In India over the past two weeks, more than one million people have been displaced and 100 killed in devastating floods. And now, a very hot Gulf of Mexico appears to be hurling a number of similarly powerful storms at the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Severe Gulf Rainstorms Begin

There’s a hell of a lot of heat and moisture available to fuel storms over the Gulf of Mexico right now. And this region where ocean surfaces exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit (running from 30 to 33 C, or 1 to 3 C above average) over a broad swath is just now starting to toss

Two more alleged victims have come forward to accuse a former Syracuse cop of sexually abusing them while he was on the job — while a third revealed to the Daily News harrowing details of her alleged encounter with the disgraced officer.

The women all claim Chester Thompson forced them to perform sex acts on him while he was armed and in uniform.

The department booted Thompson in December 2015 after the rogue cop pleaded guilty to official misconduct, a misdemeanor. Under the arrangement with Syracuse District Attorney William J. Fitzpatrick, the disgraced officer ducked any jail time and was instead sentenced to three years' probation.

Arguments were heard Monday in a hearing to determine whether the parents of Kendrick Johnson and their attorney will be required to pay nearly $900,000 in attorney’s fees related to multiple civil suits filed by the family, including a $100 million civil suit voluntarily dropped in March. Kenneth and Jacqueline Johnson filed the $100 million civil suit in January 2015, which alleged local FBI agent Rick Bell, his two sons and 35 state and local officials either directly caused or covered up the cause of their son’s death. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge in the case said he has taken the arguments under advisement and has granted King until Monday morning to file any supplemental briefs.

Former female agent sues FBI claiming sexual harassment, discrimination
FBI agents were loafing on the job or not coming to work, lawsuit says

Denver Post file Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey gestures while speaking during a press conference at the conclusion of a visit to the Denver FBI Field Office on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Denver, Colorado.
BAugust 19, 2016 at 8:20 am
Inappropriate sexual remarks became so commonplace within the FBI ranks of a special drug task force that male agents would often joke about how many zeroes would be on a lawsuit after particularly rancid remarks.

Danielle Marks identified FBI Director James Comey as a defendant in the federal civil lawsuit filed Thursday on her behalf by Denver attorneys Charlotte Sweeney and Kaitlyn Wright.

Marks is asking to be reinstated as an FBI agent, and seeking back pay, compensatory damages and attorneys fees in the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Denver.

Marks became a FBI agent in 2010 and worked as a drug and gang officer in Baltimore, where she received “successful,” and “excellent” marks. She transferred to Denver in 2013, where she joined the MGTF, which is made up of Denver and Aurora police officers and federal agents.

Marks said she notified supervisors as early as September of 2013 that fellow male agents refused to assist her with surveillance on her case even though it was the only open case in the office, the lawsuit says. She named three agents who “behaved inappropriately and made repeated sexual comments around Ms. Marks and other female employees.”

On 20 occasions, the agents failed to attend their surveillance shifts for her wiretap case. The only explanation she would receive is that they were “unavailable.” Agents would ask female agents to expose their breasts or allow them to perform sex acts on them, the lawsuit says.

In fact, the only FBI agents on the task force who had active cases were Marks and two other female agents. The male agents explained they were working a case that had closed in 2013. The male agents failed to come to work on days they were scheduled to work, the lawsuit says.

Although her supervisor assured Marks that he would speak with the three FBI agents about the harassment and failure to work with her, but the agents’ behavior only got worse. They often made derogatory remarks about female FBI agents, including that they shouldn’t be in the FBI. Once, a FBI agent on the unit said he hoped another female agent would quit and “stay home in the kitchen.”

The agents would make lewd jokes about how one of the male agents was having an affair with a female prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Meantime, a supervisory agent was having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female FBI agent, including openly sharing a hotel room during a work conference, the lawsuit says. The supervisor helped the woman get a position as secretary to Special Agent in Charge Thomas Ravanelle, who oversaw the Denver office and recently was transferred to the inspection division at the agency’s headquarters.

Agents would make sexually inappropriate remarks, look at Marks and the other female agent in the unit and say, “I wonder how many zeroes will be at the end of that lawsuit check.” It became so common that they would make a sexual comment and say, “Uh oh, add another zero.”

Marks was routinely ex

FBI Agent Art Gonzales’ Girlfriend Marries Other Agent After Shooting
by 2Paragraphs in Culture | August 19, 2016

FBI Agent Arthur “Art” Gonzales shot his estranged wife Julie Gonzales, 42, in his Strafford, Virginia home in 2013. They were going through a divorce. After an argument, Gonzales says his wife came at him with a knife and in self-defense he shot her four times in the chest. During the police investigation, it was discovered that Gonzales was having a sexual relationship with a fellow FBI employee, a young woman named Cara Kast. One day prior to the shooting, Art Gonzales found provocative photos of Kast with another FBI agent based in Indianapolis. Gonzales’ supervisor, Doug Merel, insists the shooting of Julie Gonzales had nothing to do with Art's obsession with Cara Kast and everything to do with the knife Art says

Cadre of Special Agent Candidates Gather in D.C
Recruiting Event Supports FBI Commitment to a Diverse Workforce

Candidates line up at a recruiting event in Washington, D.C. for qualified special agent candidates of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.

“I want to ensure diversity is a part of the DNA of the FBI...until it becomes who we are.”

So said FBI Director James B. Comey earlier this week at a Bureau-sponsored gathering in Washington, D.C. for qualified special agent candidates of varied racial and ethnic backgrounds. During the Diversity Agent Recruitment event for aspiring agents, Comey told participants that diversity is a priority within the Bureau because a diverse workforce is a strong workforce.

The August 17 information session was designed for highly qualified, diverse applicants from the Washington, D.C. metro area, but drew hundreds of applicants from around the country as well. Participants learned firsthand about the skills and competencies required to become agents. They also had the opportunity to speak with current FBI agents who shared their own on-the-job experiences.

In addition to Comey and other FBI personnel, the event featured a keynote speech from retired former FBI Executive Director Mike Mason, who encouraged applicants to see past any possible mistrust or misgivings about joining law enforcement and follow their passion to serve. “Never give up,” Mason said. “Be the person you know you are.”

This week’s event was one component of the FBI’s overall commitment to building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce in order to connect with the communities we serve. More informational sessions and outreach events are planned for cities and college campuses throughout the country.

“I want to ensure diversity is a part of the DNA of the FBI."

WASHINGTON – Nearly 100 years after a politically motivated criminal conviction on federal mail fraud charges – and on what would have been his 129th birthday – the descendants of Jamaican-born Black activist Marcus Garvey and members of Congress are pushing for his legal exoneration.

Garvey is well-known within the worldwide African Diaspora for developing and advocating a Pan-African philosophy known as “Garveyism” that sought to empower people of African descent.

Young activist
Marcus Mosiah Garvey began his activism when he left Jamaica at the age of 23. He traveled to England, but later returned to Jamaica to found the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in 1914. He came to the United States in 1916 and he organized the UNIA’s New York division the following year.

Garvey promoted the idea of Black people returning to Africa – but not all of them. Many would be “no good there,” he once wrote, according

Judicial Watch: CIA, FBI Officials Advised Nixon to ‘Get Rid’ of Watergate Conspirators

August 30, 2016 | 4:02 PM EDT

– Top officials in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) advised President Richard Nixon to “get rid of the people involved in the [Watergate] cover-up, no matter how high,” according to a newly released CIA document obtained by Judicial Watch under a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit.
“This CIA Watergate report is an extraordinary historical document,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said. “Given it discloses direct CIA involvement in Watergate, it is no surprise it took 42 years and a Judicial Watch lawsuit to force its release.”
The de-classified document entitled “Working Draft – CIA Watergate History” compiled by the CIA’s Office of Inspector General in 1973 and 1974, also revealed that Eugenio Martinez - one of the Watergate burglars - was “actively being paid by the CIA at the time of the arrests on June 17, 1972” for breaking into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C.
On Oct. 12, 1973, a request by the Watergate Special Prosecution Force Staff "to discuss CIA documentation relating to Martinez" was described in the document as "difficult for the Agency - the breaching of trust of an agent" and that "under no circumstances would the Agency give up all records relating to the Agency's relationship with Martinez."
“This means the CIA, at the time of the Watergate break-in, had ‘an agent’ planted on the break-in team,” the watchdog group noted. “The declaration by CIA lawyers of Mar

"Climate change in particular represents the mother of all risks—to business and to society as a whole. And that risk is magnified by the way in which fossil fuel subsidies distort the energy market," said Aviva CEO Mark Wilson. "These subsidies are s

Jury selection will begin Thursday in the trial of two former senior staff members of Gov. Chris Christie’s administration: Bill Baroni, former deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Bridget Anne Kelly, Christie’s former deputy chief of staff.

Both were indicted in May 2015 on charges of fraud, conspiracy and civil rights violations for their alleged role in the politically motivated George Washington Bridge lane-closure scheme three years ago this month.

But Baroni and Kelly won’t be the only ones on trial. So, too, will be Gov. Chris Christie, whose insistence that he had nothing to do with ordering the lane closures and knew nothing about them until long after the lane closings occurred

Are Media Exaggerating ‘Reformed Terrorist’ Story to Advance FBI’s Disturbing Agenda?

Posted on Sep 7, 2016

U.S. media outlets are eagerly broadcasting the supposedly redemptive story of Jesse Morton, a Pennsylvania-born former “Al Qaeda recruiter” turned FBI informant and counter-terror expert, transformed into a force for good thanks in part to his run-ins with federal agents. The 37-year-old Morton’s story is capturing attention because he was recently hired as a fellow at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism, which functions as a feeder school and think tank for the federal war on terror and domestic surveillance apparatus. In his new position, Morton will, as New York Times reporter Rukmini Callimachi put it, “research the very ideology he once spread.” Lorenzo Vidino, the director of the GW program, boasts that this is the first time a former jihadist will take an academic post in the United States.

In addition to the Times article, titled, “Once a Qaeda Recruiter, Now a Voice Against Jihad,” Morton was featured in an interview on PBS news hour and covered by publications from CNN to the Washington Post. Each of these stories is remarkably similar, echoing Morton’s narrative of being “rehumanized” by an FBI agent and reformed by reading western philosophers and writers like John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Reporters overwhelmingly take Morton’s story of “de-radicalization” at face value, failing to raise the most basic questions about the federal agents he lauds.

It is easy to understand why the FBI would be thrilled with the positive media coverage its informant program has received, thanks to Morton. The program has been subjected to lawsuits and accusations of gross human rights violations, including mistreatment of the people it coerces into cooperation. It is also worth questioning whether Morton’s story, as it is being told by major media outlets, is entirely true.

A closer look at Morton’s story raises serious questions about his past and the way it has been exploited. Two expert researchers who interviewed Morton before his conviction describe him as a provocateur who had little influence and no operational role in Al Qaeda. With the help of self-styled national security reporters, Morton may be exaggerating his past to advance his career ambitions, while providing the FBI with desperately needed public relations help.

Prolific Al Qaeda Recruiter or Provocateur?

Morton says he was propelled toward extremism by the abuse he endured during his early childhood. After running away at the age of 16 to follow a Grateful Dead tour, he allegedly first came into contact with Islam in 1999 via a man he was

A coalition of 25 military and national security experts, including former advisers to Ronald Reagan and George W Bush, has warned that climate change poses a “significant risk to US national security and international security” that requires more attention from the US federal government.

The prominent members of the US national security community warned that warming temperatures and rising seas will increasingly inundate military bases and fuel international conflict and mass migration, leading to “significant and direct risks to US military readiness, operations and strategy”.

Grand Rapids’ former top cop goes to private sector
Private security firms expanding responsibilities

Published: September 13, 2016, 4:05 pm Updated: September 13, 2016, 6:36 pm

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — After 34 years as a Grand Rapids police officer, including six as the department’s chief, Kevin Belk is returning to familiar territory.
Recently named the senior vice president at DK Security, he’ll be in charge of the agency’s Armed Division, Investigations and Special Operations.
“Another thing we’re looking at doing is creating an emergency response team so we can respond to a larger event — a problem, a crisis,” added Belk, who retired from his post as Grand Rapids police chief in February 2014.
Some of his duties may sound more appropriate for a big city police department than private security firm. But with traditional municipal police departments constantly looking for ways to do more with less, DK’s role and that of other private security firms is expanding.
“Public sector police departments across the country have been reducing their ranks over the last several years and more and more is going to continue to fall on the private sector,” Belk explained.
“Armed security is a whole different level than typical night watchman or guards. We’ve expanded that role,” said John Kendall, a retired U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Michigan, who along with retired FBI Supervisory Agent Bob DuHadway founded DK Security in 1994.
Kendall said he has talked with local police agencies about taking over some responsibilities, like providing K-9 units and crime scene investigation.
“There’s no reason for the police to be tied up with a fender bender for a half hour. We can direct traffic,” Kendall said. “Matter of fact, who do you think we hire? We hired retired police officers.”
Neighborhoods in cities like Detroit and Chicago have gone even further, hiring firms to pick up more of the work load from city police

FBI Analyst Sentenced In Underage Sex Case

Posted: Fri 12:18 PM, Feb 23, 2007

February 23, 2007

A former FBI analyst has been sentenced for having sex with a young Spotsylvania County girl.

Forty four year old Anthony Lesko entered an Alford Plea to the charges in a Spotsylvania County Circuit to nine counts of felony indecent liberties upon a child.

The plea means that Lesko does not admit guilt but believes that there is enough evidence to convict him. Lesko was sentenced to seven years in prison with 15 years suspended under a plea agreement.

Lesko was also ordered to pay 10 thousand dollars in restitution to cover the girl's mental health counseling. According to police Lesko was engaged in nine sexual encounters with the girl, starting when she was nine years old.

Bob Graham: Release more 9/11 records
By Bob Graham, New York Times
Tuesday, September 13, 2016 5:48pm

In July, after approval from the Obama administration, Congress released a 28-page chapter of previously classified material from the final report of a joint congressional inquiry into the Sept. 11 attacks. Saudi Arabia's foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, said that the document had ruled out any Saudi involvement in the attack. "The matter is now finished," he declared.

But it is not finished. Questions about whether the Saudi government assisted the terrorists remain unanswered. Now, as we pass the 15th anniversary of the most heinous attack on the United States since Pearl Harbor, it is time for our government to release more documents from other investigations into Sept. 11 that have remained secret all these years.

The recently released 28 pages were written in the fall of 2002 by a committee of which I was a co-chairman. That chapter focused on three of the 19 hijackers who lived for a time in Los Angeles and San Diego. The pages suggested new trails of inquiry worth following, including why an al-Qaida operative had the unlisted phone number for the company that managed the Colorado estate of Prince Bandar bin Sultan, then the Saudi ambassador.

Some of those questions might be answered if the government released more of the findings of the Sept. 11 commission, the citizens inquiry that followed our congressional inquest. The commission said that it found no Saudi links to the hijackers. But it could satisfy lingering doubts by releasing more of its records. Parallel investigations were also conducted by the FBI and CIA. How much did they look into whether Bandar or other Saudis aided the hijackers?

The government also knows more today about the 16 hijackers who lived outside California than when the 28 pages were classified in 2003. Much of that information remains secret but should be made public. For example, the FBI for a time claimed that it had found

Civil Liberties Groups Call for Stronger Oversight by House ...

Since 9/11, however, it's been obvious that these special intelligence committees have not effectively overseen the NSA, FBI, and other member

Today, we join with Demand Progress, R Street Institute, and FreedomWorks in a white paper calling on the House of Representatives to reinvigorate its commitment to provide a meaningful check on executive-branch surveillance and reform how it conducts oversight over intelligence matters. This paper is complemented by a letter from 33 organizations endorsing stronger oversight of the intelligence community.

Privacy info. This embed will serve content from youtube-nocookie.com
When the House convenes for the 115th Congress in January, it should update its rules to enhance opportunities for oversight by HPSCI members, by members of other committees with related jurisdiction, and by all other representatives. The House also should establish a select committee to review how it engages in oversight.

EFF has previously called on Congress [.pdf] to engage in a thorough review of intelligence community activities based on the model set by the Seventies-era “Church Committee,” and we continue to urge such large-scale review.

But internal reform of House rules that currently make it exceedingly difficult for the vast majority of our elected representatives to know and understand what the intelligence community is doing can also pave the path to meaningful reform.

For example, most HPSCI members lack a personal staffer for their HPSCI work, which requires a security clearance, and instead depend on committee staff—hired by and answerable to the HPSCI chair. Yet when eight HPSCI members sought funding ($125,000) to allow a staffer from each member's personal office to obtain sufficient clearance to assist with intelligence oversight, that request went nowhere, as far as we know.

Under our constitution of separated powers, access to information is essential to democratic accountability. We were fortunate that Snowden leaked significant information about surveillance abuses, but oversight by whistleblower revelations is not a sustainable strategy.  Without reform of excessive secrecy and overclassification, the window of transparency provided by the Snowden troves will close as the government creates new surveillance programs protected by secrecy and invulnerable to Congressional oversight.

1. For examples of the abuses, see the Report of the Select Committee to Study Government Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities, also known as the "Church Committee" report, S Rept. 94-755 (1976), detailing assassination plots against foreign leaders, surveillance of domestic political activities and much more, available at http://www.intelligence.senate.gov/churchcommittee.html;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; see also the Pike Committee Report, available in print format from the Library of Congress at http://www.worldcat.org/title/cia-the-p ... lc/3707054" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Baroni was FBI informant during
Christie’s U.S. Attorney Tenure
By Alyana Alfaro • 09/19/16 3:50pm

NEWARK – One of the most unexpected revelations that came during the first day of the Bridgegate trial was that former Senator Bill Baroni worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) from 2006 to 2010. That disclosure came during the opening statement of Baroni’s lawyer Michael Baldassare.

Both Assemblyman John Wisniewski and Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg—the co-chairs of the legislative panel that investigated Bridgegate—told reporters that they found the Baroni revelation surprising. The time period of Baroni’s work with the FBI coincides with when Governor Chris Christie was working as the U.S. attorney from New Jersey.

Weinberg said that she believes the opening statement implied that Baroni was more than just a cooperator with the agency.

“Senator Bill Baroni was an undercover agent for the FBI from 2006 to 2010,” said Weinberg about how she interpreted Baldassare’s opening statement. “He had a handler who was pointed out the in the audience by Mr. Baldassare, I believe. So it sounds like more that just a cooperative. That took me aback.”

According to Wisniewski, the Baroni revelations open room for scrutiny about other Bridgegate findings.

“I learned that Bill Baroni was working as an informant for the FBI, which I did not know about. I learned about some phone call conversations that we did not have access to during our investigation,” Wisniewski said. “Again, it really lays the groundwork on why a legislative investigation needs to continue. During that point in time Chris Christie was U.S. attorney so it naturally raises the question of whether Bill Baroni’s involvement or recruitment with the FBI had anything to do with Chris Christie as U.S. attorney.”

Wisniewski continued: “They were clearly close. How close, I can’t say. But it is one of those coincidences that is hard to explain away.”

When Baldassare and Baroni were l

Annie Dookhan, the former state chemist whose faulty testing of evidence led to widespread issues in the criminal justice system, was released from prison last month, her attorney said.

Dookhan, who had worked at the Department of Public Health, pleaded guilty in November 2013 to charges including perjury, evidence tampering, and obstruction of justice for falsifying drug tests in criminal investigations.

Her actions may have affected up to 40,000 cases, officials said at the time. The state set aside millions of dollars for defendants who challenged the drug evidence used in their convictions. Several hundred people, colloquially known as “Dookhan defendants,” have already had their convictions thrown out on appeal.

Former US Intelligence Officer Arrested in Philippines

A man who claims to be a retired intelligence officer of the United States Air Force was arrested on Monday while in possession of so-called party drugs in Taguig City.

Authorities identified the suspect as Raul Antonio Cisneros, who was nabbed by the Taguig police in his condominium unit around 2 p.m., GMA News’ Steve Dailisan on said in an exclusive report on “24 Oras.”

More than 1,000 tablets of assorted party drugs and P40,000 cash were seized during the raid.

Cisneros said he thought that illegal drugs were legal in the Philippines. “I thought this is (party drugs) is okay here,” he said.

Cisneros, who arrived at the country only in April, did not give details on how he brought the drugs into the country.

He admitted that he was dealing with Filipino distributors.

“I’m not saying these aren’t mine but I’m helping some Filipinos,” he said. “It was given to people who want it.”

Senator Wyden calls for FBI
mail covers review after KGW investigation

September 26, 2016

Portland, Ore.— Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is calling for a review of a government surveillance program that allows postal workers to monitor the mail.

A KGW investigation found over the past decade, more than 3,000 Oregonians have been the target of a little-known surveillance program called "mail covers."

“Given this high volume, it is important to make sure there are strong controls on the program to ensure that this technique is not used improperly,” wrote Wyden in a letter to Postmaster General Megan Brennan.

Read investigation: Secretive mail surveillance program targets Oregonians

Mail covers allow postal workers to record information from the outside of every letter that comes or goes from a particular address.  The information is then turned over the law enforcement agency that requested it.

Unlike other government surveillance programs, like wiretaps, the use of mail covers does not require a judge’s approval.

Records obtained by KGW through the Freedom of Information Act showed the 3,114 requests for mail covers for Oregon addresses came from a variety of state and federal agencies including Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, U.S. State Department and U.S. Marshals Service. Local police and sheriff’s offices also called on postal workers to help snoop.

A 2014 federal audit found the United States Postal Service failed to follow key safeguards while running the mail covers program.

According to the lawsuit, Gonsalves texted Officer Christine Greer with lewd messages, including an "obscene and indecent photograph of his somewhat-erect penis." Other messages included propositions for sex with Greer and her wife, court documents say.

"He was her sergeant and for about a year was texting her and propositioning her for sex," Gilleon said Thursday. "You can't text your subordinate a picture of your penis. He should have been fired."

Court documents say Gonsalves texted Greer multiple times with messages like "Uhm... 3 some?" and "U r too hot! U make everybody think about sex."

Other women were also harassed by Gonsalves, according to the lawsuit.

FBI Believes Russia Is Behind Attempted Hacks of Voting Registration Sites

The FBI believes Russia is behind attempted hacks of voter registration sites in more than a dozen states.

FBI Director James Comey relayed his concerns to a House Judiciary Committee hearing Washington, CNN reports.

“There have been a variety of scanning activities which is a preamble for potential intrusion activities as well as some attempted intrusions at voter database registrations beyond those we knew about in July and August. We are urging the states just to make sure that their deadbolts are thrown and their locks are on and to get the best information they can from DHS just to make sure their systems are secure,” he said.

The FBI sent two agents to attend religious services at a Mormon church in Burns on Jan. 10 as part of its investigation into the takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, according to court testimony Wednesday.

FBI Agent Ben Jones, who belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, said

Lapp also acknowledged that government informant Mark McConnell, who was driving the Jeep in which Ammon Bundy was riding when police stopped it on Jan. 26 and arrested Bundy and other occupation leaders, likely was paid by the FBI for his help.

Lapp wasn't allowed to say how much McConnell was paid, but said he had seen a bureau proposal to pay McConnell.

What’s Behind Time Magazine’s Putin Demonizing?

“Russia Wants to Undermine Faith in the U.S. Election. Don’t Fall For It.” Thus reads the cover ofTime magazine with a photo of Vladimir Putin on the cover staring at me from shelves as I sit in an airport. Genuinely curious, I check out Massimo Calabresi’s article online.

Of course, U.S. elections are almost completely unverifiable and do not even pretend to meet international standards. Jimmy Carter doesn’t even try to monitor them because there’s no way to do it. Much voting is done on machines that simply must be trusted on faith. Whether they accurately count the votes entered is simply unknowable, and reason to wonder is fueled by the machines’ frequently changing a vote visibly just as it’s cast, and by the ease with which people have been able to hack the machines. Never mind all the problems with registration, intimidation, inconvenience, discrimination, etc.

We should undermine our own faith in the U.S. election system. I’d include in that the financial corruption, gerrymandering, etc., but here I’m just referring to the counting of votes. Then we should repair it! Is Russia helpfully pointing out the problem to us? Not that I’ve seen. But the Russia-did-it stories that were used to bury the DNC-rigged-its-primary stories rather shockingly blurted out in major corporate U.S. media what I’ve just been saying. For a while it seemed acceptable to be aware that U.S. elections are faith-based as long as it helps build up hostility with Russia. Now, however, we’re being told of our duty to remain firm in our faith. Time says:

“The leaders of the U.S. government, including the President and his top national-security advisers, face an unprecedented dilemma. Since the spring, U.S. intelligence and law-enforcement agencies have seen mounting evidence of an active Russian influence operation targeting the 2016 presidential election.”

Why the “top national-security advisers”? That’s a euphemism for war counselors. How do they come into this? And where is the evidence, mounting or otherwise?

“It is very unlikely the Russians could sway the actual vote count, because our election infrastructure is decentralized and voting machines are not accessible from the Internet.”

Of the 50 states into which the vote counting is “decentralized” there are only a handful the U.S. media will pay much attention to. Those “swing states” are the ones a hacker would hack. And here’s an interesting Washington Post article I recommend to the editors of Time: “More than 30 states offer online voting, but experts warn it isn’t secure.”

“But they can sow disruption and instability up to, and on, Election Day, more than a dozen senior U.S. officials tell TIME, undermining faith in the result and in democracy itself.”

Democracy itself? Egad! Those commies must be against democracy. Perhaps they even hate capitalism! How many of those senior officials have names? Is “senior” in this case a polite way of saying “extremely elderly”? Come on! Nobody has faith in U.S. democracy. That’s undermined every day by the U.S. government, as Time’s own pollsters are perfectly aware. Most U.S. residents believe their government is broken, and they’re perfectly right. Russia’s government could use a lot of improvements too. But only one of the two is building missile bases and engaging in military “exercises” on the other one’s border.

“The question, debated at multiple meetings at the White House, is how aggressively to respond to the Russian operation. Publicly naming and shaming the Russians and describing what the intelligence community knows about their activities would help Americans understand and respond prudently to any disruptions that might take place between now and the close of the polls.”

Gee, there’s an idea. If only there were a journalist in the building!

“Senior Justice Department officials have argued in favor of calling out the Russians, and that position has been echoed forcefully outside of government by lawmakers and former top national-security officials from both political parties.”

Wait, don’t tell me, are these the same guys who sincerely wanted to tell us where the Weapons of Mass Destruction were in Iraq?

“Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. The President and several of his closest national-security advisers are concerned about the danger of a confrontation in the new and ungoverned world of cyberspace, and they argue that while the U.S. has powerful offensive and defensive capabilities there, an escalating confrontation carries significant risks.”

That’s right! Hey, they know best. Accusing Russia without any evidence shouldn’t offend anybody. The Russian government should be grateful. But presenting evidence and seeking to uphold the law, truth, an

Sabre-Rattling with Russia Over Syria - Reigniting the Cold War

06 October 2016 10:40
A recent but very little covered letter to President Obama from a group of concerned military and intelligence professionals provides an interesting contrast to the growing anti-Russia/anti-Putin movement stemming from the White House, Department of Defense and Hillary Clinton.  The group that authored the letter is called Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) and consists of the following individuals:

William Binney, former Technical Director, World Geopolitical & Military Analysis, NSA; co-founder, SIGINT Automation Research Center (ret.)

Fred Costello, Former Russian Linguist, USAF

Mike Gravel, former Adjutant, top secret control officer, Communications Intelligence Service; special agent of the Counter Intelligence Corps and former United States Senator

Matthew Hoh, former Capt., USMC, Iraq & Foreign Service Officer, Afghanistan (associate VIPS)

Larry Johnson, CIA and State Department officer

John Kiriakou, former CIA counterterrorism officer and former senior investigator, Senate Foreign Relations Committee

Linda Lewis, WMD preparedness policy analyst, USDA (ret.) (associate VIPS)

Edward Loomis, NSA, Cryptologic Computer Scientist (ret.)

Ray McGovern, former US Army infantry/intelligence officer & CIA analyst (ret.)

Elizabeth Murray, Deputy National Intelligence Officer for Middle East, CIA (ret.)

Todd Pierce, MAJ, US Army Judge Advocate (ret.)

Coleen Rowley, Division Counsel & Special Agent, FBI (ret.)

Kirk Wiebe, former Senior Analyst, SIGINT Automation Research Center, NSA, (ret.)

Robert Wing, former Foreign Service Officer

Ann Wright, U.S. Army Reserve Colonel (ret) and former U.S. Diplomat

This letter is particularly pertinent given the American withdrawal from the Russian-led talks on a ceasefire in Syria in early October as shown here:

With that background, here are some excerpts from the open letter to President Obama about America's deteriorating relationship with Russia:

"We write to alert you, as we did President George W. Bush, six weeks before the attack on Iraq, that the consequences of limiting your circle of advisers to a small, relatively inexperienced coterie with a dubious record for wisdom can prove disastrous.  Our concern this time regards Syria.

We are hoping that your President’s Daily Brief tomorrow will give appropriate attention to Saturday’s warning by Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova: “If the US launches a direct aggression against Damascus and the Syrian Army, it would cause a terrible, tectonic shift not only in the country, but in the entire region.”

Speaking on Russian TV, she warned of those whose “logic is ‘why do we need diplomacy’ … when there is power … and methods of resolving a problem by power. We already know this logic; there is nothing new about it. It usually ends with one thing – full-scale war.”

We are also hoping that this is not the first you have heard of this – no doubt officially approved – statement. If on Sundays you rely on the “mainstream” press, you may well have missed it. In the Washington Post, an abridged report of Zakharova’s remarks (nothing about “full-scale war”) was buried in the last paragraph of an 11-paragraph article titled “Hospital in Aleppo is hit again by bombs.” Sunday’s New York Times totally ignored the Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s statements.

In our view, it would be a huge mistake to allow your national security advisers to follow the example of the Post and Times in minimizing the importance of Zakharova’s remarks.

Events over the past several weeks have led Russian officials to distrust Secretary of State John Kerry. Indeed, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who parses his words carefully, has publicly expressed that distrust. Some Russian officials suspect that Kerry has been playing a double game; others believe that, however much he may strive for progress through diplomacy, he cannot deliver on his commitments because the Pentagon undercuts him every time. We believe that this lack of trust is a challenge that must be overcome and that, at this point, only you can accomplish this.

It should not be attributed to paranoia on the Russians’ part that they suspect the Sept. 17 U.S. and Australian air attacks on Syrian army troops that killed 62 and wounded 100 was no “mistake,” but rather a deliberate attempt to scuttle the partial cease-fire Kerry and Lavrov had agreed on – with your approval and that of President Putin – that took effect just five days earlier.

In public remarks bordering on the insubordinate, senior Pentagon officials showed unusually open skepticism regarding key aspects of the Kerry-Lavrov deal. We can assume that what Lavrov has told his boss in private is close to his uncharacteristically blunt words on Russian NTV on Sept. 26:

“My good friend John Kerry … is under fierce criticism from the US military machine. Despite the fact that, as always, [they] made assurances that the US Commander in Chief, President Barack Obama, supported him in his contacts with Russia (he confirmed that during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin), apparently the military does not really listen to the Commander in Chief.”

Lavrov’s words are not mere rhetoric. He also criticized JCS Chairman Joseph Dunford for telling Congress that he opposed sharing intelligence with Russia, “after the agreements concluded on direct orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama stipulated that they would share intelligence. … It is difficult to work with such partners. …”" (my bold)

This tells us something very important; there is a very significant policy difference between the White House and the Pentagon when it comes to Syria.  Recent developments in Syria strongly suggest that there is a direct conflict between military and civilian leadership in the United States.

Let's go back to the open letter:

"The door to further negotiations remains ajar. In recent days, officials of the Russian foreign and defense ministries, as well as President Putin’s spokesman, have carefully avoided shutting that door, and we find it a good sign that Secretary Kerry has been on the phone with Foreign Minister Lavrov. And the Russians have also emphasized Moscow’s continued willingness to honor previous agreements on Syria.

In the Kremlin’s view, Russia has far more skin in the game than the U.S. does. Thousands of Russian dissident terrorists have found their way to Syria, where they obtain weapons, funding, and practical experience in waging violent insurgency. There is understandable worry on Moscow’s part over the threat they will pose when they come back home. In addition, President Putin can be assumed to be under the same kind of pressure you face from the military to order it to try to clean out the mess in Syria “once and for all,” regardless how dim the prospects for a military solution are for either side in Syria.

We are aware that many in Congress and the “mainstream” media are now calling on you to up the ante and respond – overtly or covertly or both – with more violence in Syria. Shades of the “Washington Playbook,” about which you spoke derisively in interviews with the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg earlier this year. We take some encouragement in your acknowledgment to Goldberg that the “playbook” can be “a trap that can lead to bad decisions” – not to mention doing “stupid stuff.”

Goldberg wrote that you felt the Pentagon had “jammed” you on the troop surge for Afghanistan seven years ago and that the same thing almost happened three years ago on Syria, before President Putin persuaded Syria to surrender its chemical weapons for destruction. It seems that the kind of approach that worked then should be tried now, as well – particularly if you are starting to feel jammed once again.

Incidentally, it would be helpful toward that end if you had one of your staffers tell the “mainstream” media to tone down it puerile, nasty – and for the most part unjustified and certainly unhelpful – personal vilification of President Putin.

Renewing direct dialogue with President Putin might well offer the best chance to ensure an end, finally, to unwanted “jamming.” We believe John Kerry is correct in emphasizing how frightfully complicated the disarray in Syria is amid the various vying interests and factions. At the same time, he has already done much of the necessary spadework and has found Lavrov for the most part, a helpful partner...

...Therefore, we strongly recommend that you invite President Putin to meet with you in a mutually convenient place, in order to try to sort things out and prevent still worse for the people of Syria.

In the wake of the carnage of World War II, Winston Churchill made an observation that is equally applicable to our 21st Century: “To jaw, jaw, jaw, is better than to war, war, war.”"

The recent developments in Syria and the degradation of
