What are current fashions in LA (1937 EQ vision)
One of the most interesting vision I have ever read of an earthquake, it takes out LA. His description is more like an overturned thrust fault. Description of events surrounding earthquake, modern day fashions very accurate. My question do the youth in LA have beards, earnings and have a swaggered walk??
http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/joebrandt.htm
He describes the fashion at the time as "but there were a lot of guys my age with beards and wearing, some of them, earrings. All the girls, some of them keen-o, wore real short skirts. . . and they slouched along—moving like a dance”
“Then, that white car, that baby half-sized one came “
He describes the president “It surely wasn't Mr. Roosevelt. He was bigger, heavier, big ears. “ Does this describe any US politician that we know??.
New York flooded, Black Sea rising, Grand Canon closes?, Suez canal dries up, England flooded, Japan destroyed. Mt. Etna gets shaken, Bolder Dam goes.
"knew—that somewhere in the Atlantic land had come up. A lot of land"

Yes, this is a facinating story. The guy is obviously a good writer, kind of reminds me of John Updike. Even with the "short story feel," I find the story believable. I think it is interesting that Utah is included in the list of places affected.
As for fashions, lots of guys wear earrings, something that definitely would have seemed strange to someone from the 1930's. And beards, yeah, younger guys do wear beards. I actually googled "beard trends" and came up with a whole bunch of results, including this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rob-brook ... 57303.html. I guess young guys wearing beards would have appearred strange, too.

Yup. Mini skirts are all the rage this season. Time is short.

Beards have been very popular here in the south among the younger crowd - I'd say since Duck Dynasty came out, I've seen lots of beards around here.

The swaggered walk is from spreading their legs apart to keep their baggy pants from falling down completely. It looks to me like they've peed themselves.

I think the way he describes them walking and "slouching along" is they way it looks when guys wear the skinny jeans but ride them lower on their hips… This is totally the style of jeans that are big right now in LA. Just my guess…

This has always been one of my favorite dreams. I absolutely believe him.

He might be describing Chris Christie as president. Big guy, but he doesn't have big ears. The current commie-in-chief has some large, Marxist ears, but he's not larger than FDR.

Yeah the president thing stumped me, but something else, what does "keen-o" mean?
Julie rowe hesitated to speak of any president after Obama
. Maybe the next one will look this way (bigger w large ears) but there will be a huge event (game changer?) before or at the me of his entering office?

How about Al Gore? He has big ears and he is very big. He didn't make it the first time he ran; but there's nothing stopping him from running again.SamFisher wrote:He might be describing Chris Christie as president. Big guy, but he doesn't have big ears. It gives me great hope to think hipsters, at least their ridiculous beards, may fade away into the more embarrassing annals of history.wildernessdaughter wrote:Yes, this is a facinating story. Re: What are current fashions in LA (1937 EQ vision)
Keen-o = over eager; that's how I understood it to mean when I first read it, i.e. describing the girls as willing to party and not reserved. But language is not my strong point.
Source of all knowledge urban dictionary 2nd answer. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Keeno
"An individual who expresses an unusual eagerness or enthusiasm to perform an action or task, usually considered undesirable.
The opposite of an ambivalent person.
Yeah man, what a keeno!
You're being such a keeno today!"

Two clowns swagger walking - one with a beard?, trying to explain how to do it. The other more of an arm swing.

Did the writer imply that more of his dreams had been compiled into a book?

I can't believe you "youngsters" don't know what keen-o means. Used in the late 30's, 40's, to mid-50's. Means, very cool, "the cat's pajamas", very fashionable and smart (as in dressed well). We used it the way people use "cool", super, neat, etc. now.

The first video the guy in the dark shirt… picture him with the latest trend of slimmer cut jeans (mens version of skinny jeans) that ride lower on the waist. That is EXACTLY what I imagined the first time I ever read this dream (years ago). Crazy.

At least its not Hillary!
And the light around their heads part is interesting...its obviously cell phones. I dont think anyone could describe people in a way that is accurate and so contrary to the style of his day unless he actually did see this.
