Yip lots of warning signs. New Zealand had a 6.1 south of South Island and a 5 between N-S Islands... Definitely a ramp up of disasters.

A massive 7.1 magnitude earthquake has rocked Mexico, approximately 75 miles southeast of Mexico City, near the town of Raboso.

The earthquake comes 32 years to the day after the 1985 Mexico City earthquake that killed as many as 10,000 people, and just 11 days after an 8.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Tres Picos, Mexico, killing as many as 58 people.

The death toll currently stands at 149 and counting, reports CNN.

According to CBS News: “The quake caused buildings to sway sickeningly in Mexico City and sent panicked office workers streaming into the streets … thousands of people fled office buildings and hugged to calm each other along the central Reforma Avenue as alarms blared, and traffic stopped around the Angel of Independence monument.”

Church Releases Statement After Deadly Mexico City Earthquake, Status of All Missionaries Still Unsure

The Church issued the following statement in English and Spanish following the Mexico City earthquake, the second earthquake over a 7.0 magnitude to hit Mexico in the last two weeks:

We are heartbroken to see the destruction and suffering that is occurring as a result of another serious earthquake in Mexico. At this time, it's difficult to understand fully the impact, including to Church members and facilities. The Missionary Training Center in Mexico was not damaged, and the missionaries there are safe. There are several missions in this region, and mission presidents are working to determine the status of all missionaries. Some have reported that all are safe, while others are still assessing the situation. This is complicated by damaged communications systems, large distances, and travel difficulties. Mission presidents will keep families updated as they are able, and we will provide additional details as we learn more. We pray for their safety and invite others to join us in our prayers for Mexico and her people.

Rescuers frantically searched for survivors of a powerful earthquake that killed more than 200 people in Mexico on the anniversary of another massive quake that left thousands dead and still haunts the country.

The death toll as of mid-morning Wednesday was 225, the head of the national disaster response agency, Luis Felipe Puente, wrote.
At daybreak, firefighters, police, soldiers and volunteers were still swarming over the ruins of some 40 buildings that collapsed in the capital.

They had worked through the night after Tuesday's 7.1-magnitude quake, hoping to find survivors beneath the mangled remains of collapsed buildings, in scenes echoed across a swath of central states.
"We are continuing to search for people," Mexico City mayor Miguel Angel Mancera told Televisa TV. At least 40 people have been found alive in two of the collapsed buildings.

The structures of some 600 other buildings whose walls swayed and cracked were being inspected.

The most agonizing search was at a school in the capital where 21 children - aged between seven and 13 - and five adults were crushed to death. At least 30 children were still missing.
The nation's attention was fixed on the school, the Enrique Rebsamen elementary and middle school on Mexico City's south side.
Hundreds of soldiers, police and volunteers wrestled with the wreckage through the night, trying to extract a teacher and two students found alive beneath the rubble.
There were signs of life in the rubble below.

Women are covered in dust after making it out of a building that collapsed.
"It seems that some 20 children are safe with a teacher inside a classroom," a rescuer said as he clambered down from the mountain of bricks, concrete and twisted metal.
There also appeared to be nine lifeless bodies in the debris, he said.
Suspicion was already mounting of shoddy building standards at the school.
The three-story building "ought to have had in-built earthquake resilience," said geoscience professor David Rothery of the Open University in Britain.

A man walked out of the door frame of a building that collapsed after the earthquake and said:
"Had it been properly constructed it should not have collapsed, and I expect questions will be asked about whether the appropriate building codes were adhered to."

Many residents spent the night in parks and plazas, in tents or makeshift shelters, unable or unwilling to return to their homes as authorities reported 22 aftershocks and urged the utmost public caution.
"If you don't feel safe, you are advised not to stay in your home," warned Carlos Valdes, head of the national disaster centre.
The death toll form the quake continues to rise as authorities discovery bodies in the rubble.

Mexico is prone to earthquakes, being located in a seismically active region. Its last major quake, on September 7, killed 96 people in the southern part of the country.
The destruction revived haunting memories in Mexico on the anniversary of another massive quake in 1985 that killed more than 10,000 people, the disaster-prone country's deadliest ever.
Tuesday's quake struck just two hours after Mexico held a national earthquake drill, as it does every September 19 to remember the 1985 event.
Adding to the national sense of vulnerability, the earthquake struck just 12 days after another quake that killed nearly 100 people in southern Mexico.
Experts said the two quakes did not appear to be related, as their epicenters were far apart.
Mexico sits atop five tectonic plates, making it particularly vulnerable to earthquakes.

The death toll will continue to rise as more bodies are discovered in the rubble.
There were 94 dead in Mexico City, 71 in Morelos, 43 in Puebla, 12 in Mexico state, four in Guerrero and one in Oaxaca, he said.

Rescue workers reported that families were getting WhatsApp messages pleading for help from desperate relatives trapped under debris.
Patients were evacuated from the capital's hospitals, wheeled out on beds and wheelchairs.
Mexico City's international airport closed for more than three hours following the quake. The stock market was forced to shut, but was set to reopen Wednesday.
In Puebla, a picturesque colonial city near the quake's epicenter, several churches were damaged and one collapsed, killing 11 people, officials said."

A strong magnitude 6.1 quake hit off the east coast of Japan early but authorities did not issue a tsunami warning.

It struck 283 kilometres east of the city of Kamaishi on Honshu, the largest Japanese island, at a shallow depth of just 10 kilometres, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said no tsunami warning was in effect and the USGS said only weak shaking would have been felt on Honshu and the risk of damage was likely to be minor.

Japan sits at the junction of four tectonic plates and experiences a number of relatively violent quakes every year.

But rigid building codes and strict enforcement of them mean even strong tremors typically do little damage.

A STRONG 6.4-magnitude earthquake has struck Vanuatu’s Erromango island in the Pacific Ocean, the US Geological Survey says.
It says the quake struck the centre of the island, Vanuatu’s fourth largest, at 7.09am Thursday local time and was fairly deep at 200km, which would have dampened its effect.
Erromango has a population of just under 2000 people.
The Vanuatu archipelago, east of Australia in the Pacific Ocean, is in the so-called Ring of Fire.

UPDATE
September 20, 2017 at 6:15 p.m. MDT
The Church issued the following statement on the Mexico City earthquake:

We have confirmed that all missionaries in the region affected by Tuesday's earthquake in Mexico have been contacted and are safe. Mission presidents have been in contact with families to let them know they are well. Missionary apartments in several missions sustained damage, including a few that are now uninhabitable. Missionaries are eager to participate in the cleanup efforts and will do so as they are able to safely engage. Several Latter-day Saint chapels were also impacted, and teams are assessing the extent of the damage. We continue to pray for the people of Mexico as they recover from this serious earthquake.

"China's seismic service CENC on Saturday detected a zero-depth, 3.4-magnitude earthquake in North Korea, calling it a "suspected explosion".

The epicentre is roughly the same as that of a previous shallow earthquake on September 3, which turned out to be caused by a North Korean nuclear test, the official Xinhua news agency said.

The earthquake comes after days of increasingly bellicose rhetoric between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un's regime over Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions that has raised international alarm.

There seemed to be some initial difference of opinion, however, with Seoul's Korea Meteorological Agency (KMA) saying that it had registered a tremor of a similar size, but judged it a "natural quake".

A strong new earthquake has shaken Mexico, toppling already damaged homes and a highway bridge and causing new alarm in a country reeling from two even more powerful quakes this month that together have killed nearly 400 people.
The US Geological Survey said the new, magnitude 6.1 temblor was centred about in the state of Oaxaca, which was the region most battered by a magnitude 8.1 quake on September 7.
It was among thousands of aftershocks recorded in the wake of that earlier quake, which was the most powerful to hit Mexico in 32 years and killed at least 90 people.
US Geological Survey geophysicist Paul Caruso said the new temblor was an aftershock of the 8.1 quake, and after a jolt of that size even buildings left standing can be more vulnerable.
Buildings swayed in Mexico City, where nerves are still raw from Tuesday's magnitude 7.1 temblor that has killed at least 305 across the region. Many residents and visitors fled homes, hotels and businesses, some in tears.
At the Xoco General Hospital, which is treating the largest number of quake victims, workers ordered visitors to evacuate when seismic alarms began to blare.

A magnitude 5.9 has earthquake struck off Mexico's west coast, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says.
The epicentre of the quake was 99 km south-southwest of Tonala, in Chiapas state.

South of Mexico City, the Popocatepetl volcano sent a column of ash into the sky, capping a period of seismic activity that has killed more than 400 people and caused damages of up to $US8 billion ($A10 billion).

I live in Southern Utah, and the local police department just announced an earthquake preparation information meeting. Seems wise. We are right over the fault. I don't know what will happen but I feel peace, thinking back to that rainbow the day before the cloudy eclipse.

Today we had a farewell for two young missionaries, about to preach in Nevada and Mexico. Both are places experiencing quaking, but I guess at this point it's hard to hit a place on the map that doesn't have at least a little quaking. Still, I can't imagine being their mothers, getting ready to send them away during such a time as this. So much faith!

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A powerful magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit the region along the border between Iran and Iraq on Sunday, killing at least 61 people and injuring 300 in Iran, an Iranian official said.

Iranian state TV said Iraqi officials had reported six deaths and 200 injuries inside Iraq, though there was no official comment from Iraq's government.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 19 miles (31 kilometers) outside the eastern Iraqi city of Halabja.

The Islamic Republic of Iran News Network quoted the head of the country's emergency medical services, Pirhossein Koulivand, as saying early Monday that at least 61 had been killed and 300 injured on Iran's side of the border.

Iranian state TV also said Iraqi officials reported at least six people dead inside Iraq, along with more than 50 people injured in Sulaymaniyah province and about 150 in Khanaquin city. No reports were immediately available from Iraq's government.

Koulivand earlier told a local television station that the earthquake knocked out electricity in Iran's western cities of Mehran and Ilam. He also said 35 rescue teams were providing assistance.

Iranian social media was abuzz Sunday night with posts of people evacuating their homes, particularly in Kermanshah and Ghasr-e Shirin.

The semi-official Iranian ILNA news agency said at least 14 provinces in Iran had been affected by the earthquake.

Officials announced that schools in Kermanshah and Ilam provinces would be closed Monday because of the tremor.

Iran sits on many major fault lines and is prone to near-daily quakes. In 2003, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people.

Yesterday, my wife and I served in the KC LDS Temple. Awesome, as usual.
We have a practice of openly the scriptures "at random" and reading what our eyes light upon. I opened to the index, E, and there Lezlee and I both pointed to the topic "Earthquakes", and the prophecies about "earthquakes in diverse places" in the last days.

I've been thinking a lot lately about an observation I stumbled on in my little home-lab experiments. LED lights with zero power draw registered on my power-meter. Fun, really I don't understand how it works or why it varies so much. Later - ciao!

LED lights with zero power draw registered on my power-meter.

I have wondered if space based technology isn't creating enough electromagnetic energy to literally amp the atmosphere with 'hot spots'.

I wonder if you would get the same 'readings' at the same time of day or if there might be fluctuations.

When we were witness to atmospheric testing here in ND during the summer of 2002, NASA put a magnetometer at Sitting Bull College as some silly PR stunt to 'help Indian youngsters feel important'. I suspect it was put there to measure the EMF of what was being tested.

In November 2002, my husband & I arrived home from the Temple around 10:15PM to discover what appeared to be a green 'neon' tipi directly over our farmstead; it was like the Norway spiral only much smaller and compact. There was a small earthquake about 100 miles SE of us about the same time.
