Infatuation? Really? As if talking about Trump in an ugly way, spreading every bit of gossip that can be found on the internet and calling him names isn't infatuation? Wow, this really takes the cake!
What a way to justify being over jealous, infatuated, fanatical and obstinate. Merely accuse others of doing what is already being done by the accuser. #-o @-) :-ss

Can't see the forest because trees get in the way, huh?

Let's throw this back and forth Trump issue onto the stoop and see if a cat licks it up. :)) :)) :))

LOL. Why don't you just call me a liar? After all the back and forth with no proof at all from your side, you might as well call me a liar and be done with it.

... The ancient Greeks did not have any equivalent to our modern device of punctuation. Sentence punctuation was invented several centuries after the time of Christ. The oldest copies of both the Greek New Testament and the Hebrew Old Testament are written with no punctuation. ... http://greek-language.com/grklinguist/?p=657

I was surprised several years ago, to learn the Bible was written with no punctuation. The thief on the cross is one conversation recorded, where the placement of a comma, makes a huge difference, and many insist on their placement despite it sounding very awkward when read aloud.

Today I learned it was because punctuation didn't even exist until many years later. Now the thread title has a comma, so thanks to whoever fixed it.

Came here from a totally different thread.

I see what you mean: The sign trumps Wall Petition.

I have a book called Eats, Shoots, and Leaves. It's all about punctuation, and is a delightful book. The panda eats, shoots, and leaves. I want to avoid that panda. The other panda eats shoots and leaves. That panda seems a lot safer (unless you are a baby plant or a leaf).

I saw a headline that said, "Illegal immigrant accused of beheading mother to have charges dropped, report says." It totally confused me: I thought it was saying that his mother had charges against him, so he beheaded her to have the charges dropped. I was like "what the heck?" Putting the correct words in the correct places is as important as correct punctuation.

John Kelly suggests Trump wasn't 'fully informed' when he promised wall across entire border

White House chief of staff John Kelly suggested during an interview Wednesday with Fox News that then-candidate Donald Trump was not “fully informed” when he promised to build a wall along the entire border with Mexico.

Still, Kelly insisted that the president has been committed to building hundreds of miles of new wall on the border as part of a deal with Democrats on immigration.

“This president, if you've seen what he's done, he has changed the way he's looked at a number of things,” Kelly told Bret Baier on “Special Report.”

TRUMP WILLING TO 'SIT DOWN' WITH NORTH KOREA'S KIM JONG UN

Kelly didn’t deny a report in the Washington Post on Wednesday that he told Democratic lawmakers Trump was uninformed on the wall during the campaign.

“There's been an evolutionary process that this president has gone through... and I pointed out to all the members that were in the room that they all say things during the course of campaigns that may or may not be fully informed,” Kelly said.

Kelly said Trump has “adjusted the way he's looked at” a number of issues, including his strategy in Afghanistan and toward DACA, the Obama-era program that shields illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children from deportation.

As for the wall, Kelly said experts talked to Trump about how there “are places where, geographically, a wall would not be realistic.”

Asked about Trump’s famous pledge that Mexico would pay for the wall, Kelly said: “In one way or another, it's possible that we could get the revenue from Mexico but not directly from their government.”

“Campaign to governing are two different things,” Kelly said. “And this president has been very, very flexible in terms of what is within the realm of the possible.”

Speaking to Baier, Kelly also described what Trump would like to see in a deal with Democrats over DACA, saying Trump wants 700 miles of additional border wall and $20 billion in funding.

As for changes to chain migration, Kelly said the president approves of the “nuclear family” of an immigrant being allowed to come to the United States, but not the extended family.

“If they are married, the wife would come in,” he said. “If they had minor children, their minor children would come in. But not the parents, not the extended families. That's where he is right now.”

Why would Senate liberals need to approve a down payment on the wall? Wasn't Mexico supposed to pay for it? :-?
They don’t :P

Trump to do a go fund me for a first section, say from Tucson to El Paso.

Not just a wall but a wall with a train on top as per this Awesome Design.

Crowd founders could buy tickets and other rewards. Once Mexico sees thousands of potential shoppers, they’ll beg to help pay to extend the train/wall from Cali to Florida, where travelers will transition onto cruise ships.

There are a few great videos in the this Awesome Design thread.

Really that’s just one of many options, Trump will work a way :!:

by Tyler Durden
Thu, 01/18/2018 - 07:35

In a rare rebuke to hiw Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly, President Trump Thursday morning repudiated claims Kelly had reportedly made during a meeting with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that the president’s views on the wall had "evolved" since taking office.

The details from the closed-door meeting were reported by the Washington Post yesterday, prompting Kelly to take to Fox News to offer a few clarifications. After being quoted as describing the president’s original vision for the wall as “ill-informed”, Kelly explained that, after meeting with experts from the Border Patrol, the administration had decided that building a wall across the entirety of the southern border would be inadvisable.

As Kelly explained, Trump's views on the wall have "evolved", as have his views on DACA, because Trump, like any other politician, has seen his views "evolve" since the days of the campaign.

"...Even the wall. Once we briefed him and told him the real experts...came in and did a survey of the border and there are places where hydrographically or geographically a wall would not be realistic...there are other parts of the southwest border that are so wild or untamed that no traffic that goes through them.

"But there's other places we think about 800 miles additional wall, to include the 600 miles of fencing in place, would suffice. This president is very very flexible in terms of what is within the realm of the possible."

Today, Trump appears to have taken issue with Kelly’s phrasing, insisting that "The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved from the first day I conceived of it." Trump added that the wall had never been meant to be built in an area where natural borders already exist.

"Parts will be, of necessity, see through and it was never intended to be built in areas where there is natural protection such as mountains, wastelands or tough rivers or water,” he added,

Kelly confirmed that the administration was exploring ways to get Mexico to pay for the wall, including funding it with the proceeds from visa applications. But Trump took the opportunity to criticize Nafta, insisting that $20 billion for the wall is “peanuts” compared with Mexico’s trade surplus of $70 billion, adding that the wall would be paid for “directly or indirectly” by Mexico.

"The Wall will be paid for, directly or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement, by Mexico, which has a ridiculous $71 billion dollar trade surplus with the U.S. The $20 billion dollar Wall is “peanuts” compared to what Mexico makes from the U.S. NAFTA is a bad joke!"

Trump said during an interview with Reuters that was published last night that terminating the North American Free Trade Agreement would result in the "best deal" to revamp the 24-year-old trade pact with Canada and Mexico in favor of US interests.

Trump has, of course, used Twitter as a cudgel to push errant members of the administration back in line (a tool he frequently employed when Steve Bannon was still prowling the halls of the West Wing) but Kelly, with his role as gatekeeper to the Oval Office, has typically been above the fray, thanks to his militaristic discipline and unyielding loyalty to Trump.

Could this be the first sign of a major rift between the chief of staff and his boss?

THE WALL: How long is the U.S.-Mexico border?
The Republic | azcentral.com Published 1:49 a.m. ET Sept. 20, 2017 | Updated 8:29 p.m. ET Sept. 20, 2017

How long is the U.S.-Mexico border?

It seems like a simple question: The border between the two countries is one continuous line. There's no significant dispute over its location. But there's not a consistent measurement of its length. Why not?

Many sources, many twists: Most of the line follows the Rio Grande, with its countless twists and turns at the edge of Texas. Those bends may cause some of the difficulty in measuring the length. A lot of entities offer a measurement for the border. They include:

The International Boundary and Water Commission: 1,954 land miles, 1,984 total miles. This bi-national entity regulates the border under international treaty. It says, "The boundary between the U.S. and Mexico extends 1,954 miles, excluding the maritime boundaries of 18 miles in the Pacific Ocean and 12 miles in the Gulf of Mexico."

U.S. Customs and Border Protection: 1,900 miles. This agency, tasked with patrolling the border (both with Mexico and with Canada), typically uses the round number.

Government Accountability Office: 1,991 or 1,954. This research office has published numerous reviews of border security and, in recent reports, has used these figures.

Others vary. The Congressional Research Office and U.S. Census both use the figure 1,933 miles. Another ubiquitous figure is 1,989 miles: Numerous media outlets, Wikipedia and other websites give this number.

The bottom line? The commission's 1,954 figure may be the best one. The twisting Rio Grande makes it difficult to be exact — and there, the exact footage may not matter. In the western deserts, white pillars mark the exact boundary. They can be seen on our video map — along with the border fencing that sits just a few feet north of them.
As a prophet reveals the truth it divides the people. (T)he worldly either want to close the mouth of the prophet, or else act as if the prophet didn’t exist, rather than repent of their sins. Popularity is never a test of truth. Ezra Taft Benson
