The Equal Rights Amendment

Post by Joel »

What do the women on the forum think about the new push for the ERA?
The Equal Rights Amendment

Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

I've never understood what rights the Act's proponents believe would be protected by the Act. Courts already apply the Equal Protection Clause to gender, so what more would this do? And wouldn't it repeal many liberal projects, like the VAWA and parts of the Paycheck Fairness Act?

This amendment will give the government the power to outlaw ALL values.

Boys Scouts can't be exclusively for boys.
Women must be ordained to the priesthood.
Doctrine against homosexuality will be criminal.
Practicing homosexuals with temple recommends.

And then later down the road beastiality and pedephilia.
