Ponderize - 10/4 to 10/10

Post by rewcox »

Omni 1:26 by Amaleki
26 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved.

When I testify of Christ, I feel a confirming spirit. His power makes it possible to redeem each person who comes to Him.

Offer my whole soul, fast and pray, endure.

Talking to my Heavenly Father is a privilege not a task. When my Father died, I was inconsolable, it was not expected and I couldn't believe the pain it caused me. I knew I would speak at his funeral and arrange most of it. I wondered how I would ever do it, the way I felt. Finally I prayed. I asked for His help to be strong, I even asked to speak with my father, and I did. When I rose to my feet, I was strong, I spoke, arranged and was strong the entire time. He answers our prayers, I testify of this.

Yes, accept his celestial law finally-------

"Nevertheless, in your temporal things you shall be equal, and this not grudgingly, otherwise the abunfance of the manifestations of the Spirit shall be withheld."
(D&C 70:14)

See that the endowment held back from the elders, is held back no longer.♡

I hope these threads will continue weekly.

1 Nephi 15:11 Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said? --If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you.

I need revelation on a daily basis. I struggle to know what God's will is in my life so often. I long for more clarity in my life. If I can keep my heart softened and continue to ask in faith, doing my best to follow the guidance I DO receive, that clarity will happen more often.

Rewcox!! You stole my scripture choice: :) always been one of my favorites. I'll have to crank out another.

Ether 12:4

Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which surety cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.

Ether 8? and Jacob 5!

But this one does have a special place in my heart, because I was taught by the spirit regarding it.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

I checked LDS.net to see if someone started a ponderize thread there. Sure enough. And someone also put Omni 1:26. Interesting.

Ways to save these? (Like LDS Library, Notebook)

How do you put the scripture on your lock screen ?

Ok I honestly had to laugh about that.... Glad they did the right thing and took down that site! The only thing worse than profiting from a conference talk is.... well, really, there is nothing worse. /:)

Have you wandered around a Deseret Bookstore, or looked through the most recent catalog lately? More than a few Apostle's conference talks have been turned into books, along with other supporting merchandise. There was an entire display of "honey" items to go along with the One Drop at a Time (Ballard) and the same for Uchtdorf's Forget-Me-Not flower talk.

I don't blame this family even a little bit for thinking up a marketing plan, based on a cute idea in a conference talk. They were just Following the Leaders.

I was going to say I could think of a lot of things much worse, but then with that website making me think of the money-changers in the temple, I realized that the only incident in the scriptures where Christ in mortality raised his hand against someone was for that.

Honestly and personally speaking, as soon as he introduced himself as an investor by profession, I tuned him out. The website was taken down and he apologized.
Yesterday, I had the wonderful privilege to speak in General Conference about a topic that is near and dear to my heart - the pondering of God's word in an extended and deeper manner on a weekly basis. I have been touched at the outpouring of support for my message. Please know of my heartfelt gratitude for the positive responses I have received from so many!

However, I have also received some negative feedback. A week before my address, my son obtained the ponderize.us domain name and subsequently created a website to offer t-shirts and wrist bands to highlight and extend the ponderize message, which we have long talked about in our family. Although we didn't invent the term, as far as we know our use of it is unique. Because of the backlash he received in associating a commercial venture with a General Conference talk, he initially lowered his prices to cover his costs and then decided to keep prices as originally set and to donate the profits to the missionary fund of the Church. Ultimately, he decided to take down the website last night. The site will remain down. I was aware that my son was creating a website related to the topic of my talk. I should have stopped the process. I did not. That was poor judgment on my part. Of course, none of the Church leaders were aware of the site. I offer a sincere apology to any person who was offended in any way by the site.

My message remains the same - overcome evil by choosing to elevate your thoughts by ponderizing God's word every day.

Thank you, again, to so many of you for your kind messages of support and your willingness to accept the invitations given yesterday.-- http://kutv.com/news/local/lds-church-l ... se-website" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
May we be quick to forgive and to forget and to love.

In the spirit of this topic, I will offer up the only passage that comes to my heart right now.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

I also want to add - even though this was indeed poor judgement, a lot of work probably went into setting up the website, creating the items that were going to be offered, etc. AS someone who has struggled to create my own online business, it must be crushing to have to abandon their efforts and basically take a loss on the merchandise they had created. Likely it will end up in Seagull or Deseret Book.

I don;t defend their bad judgement and neither did they apparently. They did the right thing taking the site down, and on top of that likely took a financial loss as well as significant effort - with marc, I hope we can forgive, forget and put this behind us.

Holy humiliating, that's gotta hurt. But doing the right thing isn't always easy. I applaud the integrity of both men for doing the right thing. Let's hope it doesn't kill the Ponderizing! Still think it's a great idea.

Both men...I wonder how old his son is who entered that venture. By the looks of the apology letter, he is a minor in Elder Durrant's household. Probably learning to be an investor, too. But that is conjecture on my part, but it makes sense. Incidentally, I also know what it's like to put countless hours and money into a business website and lose it. But that was the old me--venture capitalist/entrepreneur. Today, however, I loathe money. Sorry, I won't derail this topic anymore. :(

Amazing thing there with the website. I didn't get to see it but I think I get the general idea.
And his apology duly noted.
It should be sufficient.
I would like to get into the ponderizing idea as well. I'm now half way home, in Nevada, so I can't start on it til later in the week.
I will gladly accept suggestions as to which verse should be my starting point.

I don't have the capacity to explain it. The best I can offer is that it is a Telestial tool. That's the short of it.

I will try to explain myself in a write-up but it will take some time to put my thoughts (and scriptures) together into something cohesive for you.

You don't have to on my account. I was just curious. Not a biggee.
