Cost of maintenance
Hello!
This is more of a question for Brian who created the Forum. In a different thread (and section, both of which are locked) you mentioned the costs of maintaining this site (at $50 then $100 then $40) I use an adblocker and would like to make a donation based on how much this site costs. I assume costs have gone up much since then.
Others that have gotten much use and information from this forum may also be interested, but how much does it cost each month if you'd be willing to share?
I love this forum and it has been a great resource for me for years - I'd like to keep its costs in mind and donate.

Re: Cost of maintenance
The server related expenses are around $50/month.. but that obviously doesn't account for the time spent related to updates, maintenance, etc (which I do myself because I have that technical expertise).

Re: Cost of maintenance
You should start a Patreon, I'm sure you would get plenty of support. This site seems to get plenty of visitors.

Re: Cost of maintenance
There's already a support link at the bottom of the site that lets people contribute monthly, if they want to. The problem I see with Patreon is that it actually has a liberal/socialist bias. I've heard of multiple people getting kicked off of their platform for being too "controversial" in a conservative/libertarian way.

Re: Cost of maintenance
It definitely doesn't! A number of years ago I started a website that I ended up killing because it took too much time to upkeep. That technical expertise isn't my forte however, so there's that too! Definitely a skill.
Hopefully in the future I'll be able to do more! Thank you very much for this website.

Also, is there a way to donate anonymously? I don't use PayPal too often but from when I have used it it is not anonymous.

Re: Cost of maintenance
If someone wanted to donate anonymously they could mail cash or something (I can provide a mailing address via private message). On The Fringe wrote: ↑February 17th, 2018, 12:27 pm Also, is there a way to donate anonymously?
