This fellow wrote a book about his experiences that I bought a number of years ago. Fascinating story. His leaving the mafia was a bit more dicey than indicated in this story, as I recall.

Good to learn he's active as a temple worker in the Detroit temple.

Reminds me of my association w/Joe Licata in the Army. Nick Licata, head of the LA mafia at the time, was Joe's uncle.

My, my. What a ride that will be for any resident still there when the next big SF earthquake strikes. A nephew of mine was living on the 11th floor of a Kobe, Japan, high-rise with his wife and young baby daughter when the Kobe earthquake hit. They thought they were dead for certain.

Within a year they had left Japan for the states, the experience was so unsettling.
