Poll: Is there anything we all agree on?
I thought it might be fun to discover if this forum
has any unitedly shared beliefs.
It's so easy to discover where we disagree.
Is there anything we all agree upon?
This might be a very short or very long-lived
thread depending on your responses. Either
way is OK.
Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion.

Re: Poll: Is there anything we all agree on?
Very good.
Another -
Joseph Smith was a true prophet of the Lord who restored the church in these latter days, and President Monson holds the keys of the gospel (I have some doubts whether all here agree with the latter, since I believe we may have some fundamentalists here).
I think we might all agree that the war in heaven continues today and is still about the same thing - force versus agency, liberty versus slavery.

Since this site is dedicated to a great extent to promoting constitutional principles in government, I suggest that "Next to being one in worshiping God, there is nothing in this world upon which this Church should be more united than in upholding and defending the Constitution of the United States."

I think we all agree on the same principles...and we are actually much closer as a group to understanding truth than the general public. We disagree on how these principles should be applied, or the way in which they are being destroyed. I don't think our disagreements are necessarily over how we all see the world entirely differently.
My quote from RP below is a good example of something I think we all agree on.

I was just discussing this very thing with my wife a couple days ago.ChelC wrote:I think we might all agree that the war in heaven continues today and is still about the same thing - force versus agency, liberty versus slavery.
I've heard MANY times over my life that this life is a continuation of the War in Heaven. The last General Conference, Priesthood Session particularly, again made that very clear. This week we had the t.v. on and there was Obama, making some speech about health care. He's charismatic. He gives a good speech. If you don't think too much about what he's saying, it sounds very very good. It's easy to get caught up in. It was particularly easy for me, taking a step back, to "see" another very charismatic leader giving another very good sounding speech, and having a large crowd cheering for him and what he promised to do for them. It was easy to see how 1/3 of our friends and neighbors could "fall for it" and go along with and even vote for his plan.

Re: Poll: Is there anything we all agree on?
So if I'm understanding y'all correctly,
we so far agree that:
Best Regards,
Sharon (Making the Best of Basics) in Mississippi
we so far agree that:
- Jesus Christ is our Savior.
The war in heaven continues today, on earth.
We all cherish freedom.

no i don't know about that
Job wasn't free from it for a long time
abinadi neither
i think the scripture "thou shalt not leave my soul in hell" and "fear not he who can destroy the body but he who can destroy thy soul in hell" confirms that
the early saints under Nero and others didn't have freedom from tyranny.
i'd say christ taught us that he didn't come to bring peace but a sword
now_eternal_Freedom from tyranny absolutely. but while on earth not always
blessed are they that are cursed for my names sake etc

Re: Poll: Is there anything we all agree on?
I think, for the most part, we are united in wanting to follow Christ. However, we argue from the high end of heaven to the low end of hell about what that means, and are often very free with slinging unkindness and accusations about. We may think we know what following Christ means, but I wonder if any of us (with the possible exception of Marc) even knows what that feels like.
