Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
President Nelson quotes
"This is a hinge point in the history of the church. Things are going to move forward at an accelerated pace, of which this is a part," he said, later adding, "The church is going to have an unprecedented future, unparalleled; we're just building up to what's ahead now."
So most of us believe that the endtimes is ramping up, but I'm curious as to this Rome Temple Dedication being a "Hinge point" in church history.
"Hinge Point" is a very bold statement!
Thoughts, feelings, or impressions as to the interpretation of such a statement?

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
Well I am likely all alone in my interpretation but having all our apostles in Rome where we have our first visitors center that includes the original twelve... I'd wager that's no coincidence. My eyesight is fixed on James Zebedee, and though this may not come to light to the church at large soon some of the deepest implications of who these men are on the eternal scale and their roles in the gathering of Israel and the imprisonment of Satan may all be coming to a head whether seen or unseen.
Hinge is an interesting word though isn't it?

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
Interesting Alaris! I'm curious as to your choice of James, the son of Zebedee?
It is believed that he was the first martyr of the 12.
The obvious move to express that Jesus Christ has 12 apostles on the earth today was pushed, and I believe the Italian people (those watching) may have had an ah ha moment, but why a hinge point...
My thoughts:
1. Final testimony as a quorum of 12 and 3. Priesthood quorums have power accociated with them, before the days ahead don't allow them to Be together like they are a bit to be now.
2. The adversary and his armies are gearing up for the final battle, and these special witnesses are putting their chess pieces in place also. (opposition in all things)
3. This years come follow me program centered on the new testament gospels and their authors are being emphasised with the visitors center...
4. I believe the original 12 apostles will play a big part in the days ahead, perhaps from the "hinge point" whether on this side of the veil or the other. Or perhaps both sides.

The door has finally swung, ("hinged", unhinged?) Into full fellowship with the Vatican.

One observation: the statues in the visitor centre are not of the original Twelve. Judas is missing and is replaced by Paul, which is not chronologically correct, as Judas was replaced by Matthias.
I hope Matthias isn't too miffed!

Wish we knew where the 3 nephites were at. Or could hear from them from time to time. It would be nice to receive some words of wisdom from the guys who have the ultimate, "been there, done that ".

Yeah as I wrote that I was thinking, "I'm pretty sure they didn't include Judas." Each of the apostles is carrying something or has some sort of prop, etc. Would Judas have been carrying a bag of silver?Robin Hood wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 5:43 amInteresting.Alaris wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 4:23 am Well I am likely all alone in my interpretation but having all our apostles in Rome where we have our first visitors center that includes the original twelve... I'm guessing they included Paul due to his connection to Rome and contribution to the New Testament.

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
I predict that President Nelson words about "This is a hinge point in the history of the church. Things are going to move forward at an accelerated pace, of which this is a part," "The church is going to have an unprecedented future, unparalleled; we're just building up to what's ahead now." I predict these words are not positive words of prophesy but negative words apostasy in the LDS church. Look at how President Nelson and Russell M. Ballard oozed with praise of Pope Francis as “Holy Father” and although “we have doctrinal differences the things we have in common are more important” I just wonder if President Nelson kissed the ring of the Pope and exchanged the Luciferian handgrip. Yes, the overkill of how wonderful Pope Francis is, was nauseating to me, like an inch of rich frosting on a humble cake.
I’ve been keeping tabs on Pope Francis the last few years and he is in a precipitous decline as a Pope when compared to all other Popes. He’s changed the Eucharist and allowed it to be administered by clowns—literally. He has said: “there is no hell,” and when asked about the rightness or wrongness of homosexuality he responded—“who am I to judge.” Then he is quoted to have said that “Christ was a sinner” and that “his mission was a failure, because he ended up dead on the cross.” He has also said “it is dangerous to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ outside the context of the church.” Then he introduced the Tango into the liturgy, no kidding people dancing at mass. He has allowed homosexuals and pedophiles to serve as cardinals and bishops. The orthodox members of the Catholic Church are at their wits end as to how to get rid of Pope Francis, there is no protocol in their church on how to get rid of a renegade Pope. Carlo Vigano was a high ranking church official, only 3rd from the Pope himself, and recently demanded Pope Francis resign for all the corruption that fills the Catholic Church “from top to bottom.” Now Vigano has gone into hiding for fear of his life. In this context we have the LDS leadership show up heaping loads and loads of flattery on “his Holiness.” Does anyone see something wrong with this picture. Are you prepared to be absorbed into this vortex via interfaith projects and the ecumenical goal of building bridges and finding common ground with the Devil.
A few years ago I happened upon a short newspaper article that said the Pope Francis was baptized into the Mormon Church. Luckily, I copied it and you can read it below:
VATICAN CITY— In the wake of the worldwide colloquium on the family hosted by the Catholic Church in the Vatican City, religious leaders from all over the world have gathered together to discuss issues regarding marriage and the family.
In attendance is first counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, President Henry B. Eyring, as well as other notable LDS leaders.
Reports are slowly coming in that shed light on the interesting work happening there. Papal spokesman, Dion Algerri stated in a press release, “We are neither confirming nor denying the conversion of Pope Francis to the Mormon Church.”
Senior PR officials for the LDS Church in Salt Lake have confirmed the baptism. “When Brother Francis met President Eyring the two of them hit it off quite nicely. They immediately bonded over their love of traditional family values, Jesus Christ, and their shared haircut.”
President Eyring’s snapchat story shows the two taking a selfie, with the word “#twinners” posted across it.
Brigham Smith Young McKay, another PR official for the Church continued by saying, “The two immediately felt a connection. Brother Francis came to President Eyring’s room where Elder Perry shared the first three discussions. After hearing the truth of the restored gospel, Brother Francis demanded to be baptized immediately.”
“We had to find the closest meeting house in Rome for do the actual baptism”, said Bishop Gérald Caussé. “All of the fonts in St. Peter’s Basilica are made for infants, not grown men!”
It is still not known if Pope Brother Francis will encourage the rest of the world’s Catholics to join the LDS church. President Monson said that all would be welcome, and reiterated the well known truth that Catholics make great Mormons. https://millennialmormon.com/breaking-p ... y-apostle/
Yesterday I went to the link posted for this story and it said the page I wanted has been removed or did not exist. Anyway a few years ago when I first encountered this story I thought it was a hoax so I just squirreled it away and didn’t mention it to anyone. But recently with all the hoopla about the new temple being dedicated in Rome and with all the flattering words President Nelson and Elder Ballard has directed toward Pope Francis, this story has come to the forefront of my mind and I’ve had some thoughts regarding it.
The baptism of Pope Francis into the Mormon Church reeks of a quid-quo-pro arrangement where the Pope is baptized into the Mormon Church with the expectation that since he joined the Mormon Church Pope Francis expects the Mormon leadership to return the favor by joining in the ecumenical movement of the Catholic Church. I think this scenario has been in the planning stages for a number of years because before July 30, 2012 when the ground breaking ceremony for the temple occurred, the Italian government and the Vatican State recognized the Mormon Church as only a “charitable institution” but after that date they were upgraded by these governmental entities and officially recognized as a bona-fide “religious denomination.”
Like I said when I first read this story I initially thought it was a hoax, now I’m not sure because there are pieces of facts interspersed throughout the story, for example, the silent 800 lb. gorilla in the room present—ecumenicalism. Another example is secrecy, secrecy is the hallmark of Satan and if this is not a hoax then this event is indeed secret. Then there is the typical obfuscation indicative of all white-color crime where the article says a Vatican spokesman “neither confirms nor denies the conversion of Pope Francis into the Mormon Church.” Gee, if such an earthshaking event was not true and you wanted to distance yourself from the leprosy of Mormonism you certainly wouldn’t vacillate on whether a rumor this big was true or not. It’s a crystal clear issue, either it happened or it didn’t—no maybe about it!
It’s at least an open question. Is the Pope’s baptism into the Mormon Church payment in exchange for L.D.S. leadership cooperation to play an active role in the Pope’s ecumenical agenda? Or how about an official church endorsement for ecumenicalism, who could possibly be against—unity? Is this what President Russell M. Nelson meant when he told members to “hold on to their hats, get your rest and take your vitamins because things are about to get exciting?”
If the Mormon Church joins the ecumenical movement of the Catholic Church, which could be announced this coming General Conference, then it proves this church is just another harlot daughter to the Great Whore described in the Book of Revelation. If this event turns out to be the case then it follows that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is no longer the only true church on the face of the earth and church laity has been hoodwinked by the clergy into believing the lie that the prophet cannot lead the church astray!
If the above prediction happens it suggests that the thesis of the whistle-blower named “one who is watching” (his internet name) is likely true. His thesis is that the restoration of Christ church is future, not past. So there is no need to give up our hope.

Who can say, though? There is a lot we don't know about.
I like how you said that secrecy is the hallmark of Satan. Right on!!!
I have read a lot at onewhoiswatching.com and it is interesting to ponder what he says.

Yeah, some really weird stuff has been going on lately. This is only my 2nd prophet, so I don't know for sure. I'd been told that other prophets each have brought changes and their own personality to the position, but is there something a bit unusual about this time? Or am I just being paranoid because I've never gone thru it before?
It does annoy me that Nelson would gush over a self proclaimed socialist. I don't care what the left says: TRUE freedom is in capitalism. SOCIALISM is a form of slavery. There is no right way to do it. It chips away at free will. There is a scripture warning us that in the last days, if possible, even the very elect will be deceived. Something just feels OFF to me.

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
Your stats are very misleading and misused. True the national center for missing children lists 800,000 a year, yet state department statistics put stranger abductions at around 100 a year. That is a big variance in numbers. The one that would be more pertinent to conspiracy theorists though would be the 100 a year. True even one is too many.

President Nelson
"This is a hinge point in the history of the church. Things are going to move forward at an accelerated pace"
Yes, it will.
To the fall of the Gentiles and the church,
and to The Times of the Gentiles being fulfilled.
With fulfilling the words of Isaiah; and words of warning in the Book of Mormon, with "uniting themselves to that great and abominable church";
the church will have fulfilled it's full measure of iniquity and apostasy.
2 Nephi 6
12 And blessed are the Gentiles, they of whom the prophet has written; for behold, if it so be that they shall repent and fight not against Zion, and do not unite themselves to that great and abominable church, they shall be saved; for the Lord God will fulfil his covenants which he has made unto his children; and for this cause the prophet has written these things.
"And when the spirit of persecution, the spirit of hatred, of wrath, and malice ceases in the world against this people, it will be the time that this people have apostatized and joined hands with the wicked, and never until then; which I pray may never come."
Brigham Young, May 31, 1857, JD 4:327.
quote from someone
"If you are in a church organization which looks on world unity and ecumenical efforts as desirable, you are IN the Whore Church, and you will either get OUT of her, or you will be damned to hell and consumed by the wrath of a holy God. "

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
I think that 800k figure must be mainly cases of a parent taking a kid away from the other parent amid some family conflict, which usually gets resolved in a few days.justme wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 9:36 pm Your stats are very misleading and misused. True the national center for missing children lists 800,000 a year, yet state department statistics put stranger abductions at around 100 a year. That is a big variance in numbers. The one that would be more pertinent to conspiracy theorists though would be the 100 a year. True even one is too many.
If there are 400M people in America, 800K amounts to one in 500 people. If kids make up 1/4 the population, that would mean that every year one in 125 kids gets abducted. That would be like 4 kids abducted per year, on average, from every elementary school with 500 kids in it. I think we'd all be more aware of this problem if it were as dire as what the raw statistic suggests.

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
You need to dig into those numbers
The NCMEC says 203,000 children are kidnapped each year by family members. Another 58,200 are abducted by non-family members. Many others are runaways or pushed out of the home by parents.
Despite these huge numbers, very few children are victims of the kinds of crimes that so-often lead local and national news reports. According to NCMEC, just 115 children are the victims of what most people think of as "stereotypical" kidnapping, which the center characterizes thusly: "These crimes involve someone the child does not know or someone of slight acquaintance, who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently."
Of these 115 incidents, 57 percent ended with the return of the child. The other 43 percent had a less happy outcome.

no. not me.
and does it really matter.
you either believe something - or you don't.
whether or not something is true
doesn't have anything to do with who said it.
example
if I told you LDS prophets said the quotes below, I'm sure you would be more open to believing it.
someone used to say this.
"God loves each of us as if there were only one of us"
it was actually from the pope - who took it from St. Augustine.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.
He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
--------------------------------------
here is another one
“People say they love truth, but in reality they want to believe that which they love is true.”
maybe I'll change this a little -
“People say they love truth, but in reality they want to believe in only those which they love to be the truth.”

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
NEWS FLASH—About two weeks ago Pope Francis made a stunning announcement on September 12, 2019. Pope Francis summoned the “great men of the earth” (Rev. 18:23)—all political leaders (will Trump be there?), religious leaders (will Mormon leadership be represented?) and economic leaders from all over the world to come to the Vatican in Rome this coming May 14, 2020 for an “urgent” meeting with Pope Francis and his boss—George Soros. These world leaders are expected to sign an agreement conjured up by Pope Francis and George Soros, it’s called the Global Educational Pact; what a benign name, who could be against education? No wonder most people haven’t paid attention to or heard this news.
The world is at variance with Pope Francis and George Soros so they intend to do away with this division and get everyone in the world on the same page by re-educating them in the area of: (1) Climate change and Global warming the cause of which is human, the solution of which is world genocide. (2) Political governance, all governments in the world will be getting their marching orders from the United Nations. Pope Francis recently said: “We must obey the U.N.” (3) Religion, all people are to worship Global unity personified by Pope Francis, this “new unity” is a secular agenda unity driven by Pope Francis, not a religious doctrinal unity. Despite not achieving doctrinal unity the Pope will unite all Christendom in the name of his interfaith humanitarian charity agenda. “First the ground must be cleared of discrimination” said, Pope Francis. Apparently Pope Francis wants the whole world, lead by its leaders who has signed on to this Global Educational Pact, to be united in doing away with hen discrimination, hen discrimination? In other words, we as a Global Community or Global Village—the “new humanism,” must not discriminate against foxes, we then must allow the foxes into the hen house by integrating the criminal culture of Islam into law abiding Christian nations—watch the feathers hit the fan. (4) Economics, the rich nations must give their money to the poor third-world nations and raise their standard of living so that all people can have their own personal bank account to the end that there will be no buying or selling by anyone who is not part of this one world Global digital economy.
Below is Pope Francis’ summons to all world leaders to attend the “urgent” meeting in Rome May 14, 2020. After that there is a commentary on this Global Education Pact by a Catholic nun named Mother Miriam discussing the negative implications of the Pope’s proposals (stop at the 26 min. mark) The third You-Tube presentation is an interpretation of Pope Francis Global Educational Pact by a well informed and knowledgeable Seventh-day Adventist Pastor on the machinations of Pope Francis. (18 min.) This same pastor also put out a You-Tube video entitled: “Antichrist Unity Agenda: Benchmarks of the Beast.” (33 min). These last two videos by Pastor Doug Bachelor pretty much give a fuller context to Pope Francis’ shenanigans in his effort to insert himself as the leader of the world.

I noticed that! It’s not even known, to my knowledge, of Paul ever joined the twelve or if his role was separate.Robin Hood wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 5:43 amInteresting.Alaris wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 4:23 am Well I am likely all alone in my interpretation but having all our apostles in Rome where we have our first visitors center that includes the original twelve...
One observation: the statues in the visitor centre are not of the original Twelve. Judas is missing and is replaced by Paul, which is not chronologically correct, as Judas was replaced by Matthias.
I hope Matthias isn't too miffed!

Not to be negative but just wanted to highlight that these sort of uber-optimistic statements about the future of the Church have been going on since 1830.DJB wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 3:02 am President Nelson quotes

So most of us believe that the endtimes is ramping up, but I'm curious as to this Rome Temple Dedication being a "Hinge point" in church history.
"Hinge Point" is a very bold statement!

Re: Rome Temple dedication "Hinge Point"
I had a reply to this that got deleted with a puter update. I realize I may have already responded to this individually, but here are some whitewashed comments for public consumption.DJB wrote: ↑March 27th, 2019, 4:56 am Interesting Alaris!
James & John were part of the inner circle along with Peter who witnessed the raising of a dead girl, mount transfiguration, and were closer to Jesus in the garden. They were closer to Jesus when He suffered such that it caused the Greatest of Us All to tremble, and bleed from every pour. Why? Why did they have exclusive access? What sets them apart from the 9?
I've said this elsewhere, but I believe if James and John were not present at the Mount of T, then there would have been no cloud surrounding the father. Peter tells us to heed James and John in the endowment. The three are given the keys "of this ministry" until Jesus returns (D&C 7)
John is very specific in his gospel to point out that Jesus never said he (John) would never die. If I am correct about John being the second witness, then this of course would make sense given the two witnesses are martyred in Revelation 11. Discourse on Abbaton confirms that Jesus tells John (on his 40th day post resurrection) that John will in fact die a martyr's death at the end, and that the Angel of the Lord / Abbaton would come to him then as a gentle man (first witness imho.)
Back to your message: # 1 is super interesting. A final witness ... the time of the seraphim comes to an end. Very interesting indeed! The Apostles began the time of the gentiles and they end it. The last one to open such was Peter who has the fullness of the Priesthood imho. And the one who kicks off the gathering is one who receives the fullness for the first time ever - The Davidic Servant.
# 4 - I agree. The 144,000's work is to assist in the gathering. Joseph Smith said both angels and men would work together to this end. This is their final test to see if they can become kings themselves - gather and build a kingdom.
Edit: Could James be the first martyr and John the last? Hrm .... nothing to see here folks!
