It is intended to demonstrate, quite graphically, the results for which Americans will one day be judged. Those starving people are suffering due to sanctions and military actions by the US.
No, they are suffering because of civil war largely instigated by Iran. But attributing the problem to Iran is inconvenient because then it might require you to alter your thinking a bit. Much more comforting for you to be able to point the finger of blame in a place that doesn't require you to alter your isolationist fantasies at all.
The blockade is preventing some food from arriving, but is not the reason people are suffering. This is like saying I am suffering due to lack of an aspirin when I have broken my arm. It is false, dishonest, and illogical.
If I am to be judged as an American for children starving in Yemen due to a civil war I have no control over because some food shipments didn't make it there, then I also hope I get credit for each life in Yemen saved because one of the weapons didn't get through to the rebels. But it would be rather silly to judge me for any of that I suspect.
