Crackers wrote: October 1st, 2017, 6:25 pm Same with EOs. Not sure how they were referenced.
They weren't.

Ballard spoke of energy healings / miracle healings.

He also did not say MLM. But spoke against what I would call 'get rich quick' schemes. That can cover a lot of things - but not specifically MLM.
Listen carefully.
He didn't say "get rich quick" schemes, he said "get rich" schemes. Nothing was mentioned concerning the speed of the wealths arrival.
I know he didn't specifically say that. I said that is what I would call it - what I consider he is referencing. Nothing wrong in getting rich ;) but if the focus is on less work but more money, that can be a problem.

That aside, I did enjoy listening to the smack down on these false prophets. Not that their followers will listen mind you.

Yes
I am constantly being told on here that the US constitution is for everyone, not just Americans.
If that is true, then defending the constitution cannot be nationalism.

The principles of the Constitution -- limited government and personal liberty -- are for everyone. The system set up by the Constitution -- three branches of a federal government consisting of a confederation of sovereign States -- may not be right for every locale.

Probably. This is 2017. Get with the program. :x

My quesiton though:

What is nationalism to Elder Ballard? Shall we embrace globalism?

What is sexism according to Elder Ballard? Shall we all become 3rd Wave Feminists?
I don't know. But those are good questions.
My fear is that they do think they should embrace globalism, because either they don't understand the socialist/communist basis of it, or they think it will be a 'benevolent' socialist/communist agenda, where churches will still be allowed. That's what I think it foolish and fatal.
I don't believe they have gone to 3rd wave fem. But I do fear that they, drifting along the globalist path, will come to some type of "evolution" where they say this is 2022, get with the program, ordain women, women are equal (they are not equal, and never will be, they are complimentary to men. A man and a woman equal one whole, one complete unit).
Then, of course, how far away is homo marriage, etc. After all, get with the program this is 20??
In other words, what happens when those Elders with values and morality die off and the relativists take over?

Well I guess you'll have to put on your thinking cap and decide whether what you are "constantly being told on here" is true.

I think saying the United States Constitution applies to everyone (unequivocally) is a great justification for war. Got to "spread democracy" with blood and horror.

So everyone has had a night to sleep on Elder Ballard's wise counsel.

1. Have the Julie Rowe supporters all repented and forsaken that sad woman?
2. Have the Denver Snuffer followers repented and forsaken that sad man?
3. Have the racists repented?
4. Have the sexists repented?
5. Have the nationalists repented?

By the way, I define the nationalism referred to by Elder Ballard as a philosophy steeped in an elitist attitude which assumes one's own country is better than all the rest and therefore its attempts to dominate others in any way as wickedness and foolish pride. Nationalism is certainly not a love of one's country and its heritage, nor a willingness to defend her.

I'll agree here. Our country started with a good balance of federalists and anti-federalists. The sin of slavery ruined that and gave federalists all of the power. What was supposed to be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people became an oligarchy (it's ironic that statement came to us from the biggest mass murderer in U.S. history.) It's clear that our own government brought about its own destruction by the time our third president came along, in the form of Marbury v. Madison.
Even outside the church i don't see racism other then with the black lives matter group. There seems to be a lot of very angry black people.
You could ever remove the word "black" from your last sentence. Third wave feminazis, neo-Marxists, Clinton supporters, the country is filled with hateful people.

Unfortunately, Ezra is guilty of rather gross generalizations. America as a nation is not responsible for abortions, but only certain individuals within America. This is part of the problem with globalization. It wants to lump everyone into a one size fits all cookie cutter type of government. It's why the phrase it takes a village is so misunderstood. The question is who runs the village? The local villagers, according to local custom, culture, tradition and religion? Or a one size fits all cookie cutter government in "World Headquarters" without regard to local tradition?
They don't seem to realize "globalism" means giving up your religion, personal identity and self determination, and surrendering it all to a "global government".

I cannot understand how you can come out so completely wrong on a simple issue. But you seem to do it frequently.

I think it may be based on some type of inferiority complex you have.

You automatically presume that if I say I prefer to associate with my own kind, that means I am saying that I am better than you. I say, and nationalists say no such thing.

We mere say we want what we want. We want our local customs and traditions.

Globalism seeks to destroy that and force a one size government on all with no individuality, culture, religion, local tradition, etc., to stand in the way of it.

When Brazilians talk about their soccer pride, or their love of Brazil they are not saying they are "superior". Just that they are Brazilian. And not Croatian or Japanese, etc. And that they think they can play the best soccer, which, maybe they can, ... or not.

How many babies does America kill every year with abortions?

How many innocent people are killed in wars we are fighting every year???

It's the pride that's the problem. Blinds people to reality.

Well, Ezra, you then are anti American, an America hater. So it makes sense that you would welcome socialsim/communism. Just remember, it will destroy the church and all religion.

I think you are also totally blind in not being able to see a difference in Nazi Germany and the United States.

Agency, or free will means that, if the country allows the exercise of it, that people will make poor choices, and get pregnant, and have abortions.

Communist China solved the problem of having more than one child, but do you know how? Why not look into it?

From what you have posted here I can only say you have no concept whatsoever of history or political systems.

I think you are completely in left field.

I don't hate America. I don't like the curruption in our government. I don't like the unjust wars. I don't like the horrible things that happen due to our government. Which in part happens due to the blinding effect of nationalism.

I can most definitely see the difference between nazi Germany and the United States. What Nationalism is that you are not seeing is that it is the blind love of a county that allows the atrocities that they commit to happen.

Has America committed atrocities???? Most definitely. How many deaths are due to those atrocities?

I'm not so blinded by my love of my county as to not see the similarities to nazi Germany or china.

I combat socialism and communism. That's why I'm so concerned about the fact that we as a country are quickly heading in that direction. Continually adding more socialistic programs.

It's very interesting that you would attack me for my truthful comments.. are you guilty of being a nationalist that our prophets have just spoken against being???

Some people here are praising Elder Ballard's talk but cannot define what he meant. That is so very ironic.

On the one hand many Church leaders say contention does not invite the Spirit, yet on the other hand many items in talks and the Handbook are so vague that it insures contention.

You genuinely make a good point. My wife has been worried that if I ever lose my job, we won't have health insurance, although it did no good for her degenerative disk disease, which confined her to bed. It wasn't until I prayed to the Lord that I may heal her that she can now get around, wear heels to church and help shovel snow in winter. My bishop, who I love, prefers I first resort to doctors before asking my hometeachers or anyone in the ward to be healed. In my experience, or rather, observation, the only use for priesthood anymore is to exercise authority over one another. I don't agree with energy healing or anything of the sort. My faith to heal and to be healed rests in Christ alone. BUT that said, I don't blame some folks for resorting to whatever means they can when they cannot find anyone with faith enough to heal them.

I am in the camp that the nationalism that both Elder Cook and Elder Ballard were talking about is that nationalism that results from pride wherein people believe they are better than others simply because they are from the United States, or Canada, or Great Britain, or any other country. While it is true the United States Constitution was inspired by God, and went on to inspire many other Constitutions around the world, that inspiration in founding the U.S. does not make a U.S. citizen better than anyone else. Nationalism can be used as an excuse for hate, and that is what the Apostles were condemning. I think the Lord, through His servants, is reminding us to be more humble and charitable to those of other nationalities, faiths, etc. Remember, charity seeketh not her own.
