Does anyone else find it boring?
Yes.

That's why I want fire and damnation talks. A call to repentance. Talks that would slap the pride and hypocritical nature of the members out.

I would love to hear a thus sayeth the lord talks. The lord has told me to say ___________!!!!!!! You need to pray to god and inquire about this___________!!!!

I want some real meat. Some real direction. Some real calling out of the members for how they are astray. Some real reminders of how we should be doing things vs how we are currently. Like peddling off the education of our children to evil socialist public schools where they are being indoctrinated daily vs it being the sole responsibility of the parents to truly educate their children in the lords gospel. In how to be happy. In how to communicate. About politics and the need to stand righteously on the side of the lord on freedoms And what is expected of us to be righteously involved in that battle for our agency that still rages on today from the day when Satan rebelled in heaven.

Talks that people wouldn't be able to fall asleep to because of the amount and boldness of the truths that were being given to them.
"Joseph was a Prophet, and I knew it, and that they might rail and slander him as much as they pleased, they could not destroy the appointment of the Prophet of God, they could only destroy their own authority, cut the thread that bound them to the Prophet and to God and sink themselves to hell."
- Henry B. Eyring, quoting Brigham Young

How's that for a call to repentance, fire and damnation, and all that? President Eyring's message to us, from the Lord, is that we need to support and sustain our leaders - no matter their failings and shortcomings - because the Lord called them Himself.

I see too much complaining and not enough real faith among the saints around these parts, and I for one am getting tired of it. Not calling you out personally or anything, just a general observation, so forgive me for using your post to make the point.

It is clearly fascinating to me how some people hear nothing of significance and others of us find such powerful instruction. I still read Elder Nelson's talk from April 2016 on paying the price for Priesthood power regularly and by applying his counsel I have found my life completely advanced and excelled in ways that it is clear some have no grasp of. Including that conference and this one there will be approximately 80 talks provided and between these two ends there have been multiple talks of significance. President Nelson's has completely opened opportunities I never understood - just one talk out of a potential of many more has changed my life and others out of 80 talks of brilliance have been positive contributors and yet someone can say that they cannot find anything of worth from conference; a sad and bitter commentary that speaks far more to the ears that hear during conference and reflects nothing upon the mouths that speak the words of God.

There is the key from President Nelson.

In October 2016 he followed with Joy and Spiritual Survival

In April 2017 he followed with Drawing the Power of Jesus Christ into our Lives

In October 2017 he followed with the Book of Mormon.

If you are bored, try removing unbelief and increasing faith on those things that are right in front of our face in the Book of Mormon. Brother of Jared. Nephi. Ether 12.

Unfortunately, we don't have a Samuel the Lamanite, Moroni or Abinidi amongst the hierarchy in the church, just a lot of former Attorneys, Doctors and wealthy businessmen trying to run a $30 billion corporation while keeping the feds at bay by not crossing lines from the pulpit. :(
Ya I'm sure the people of the church would gladly donate to pay what ever taxation would be required to not have a 501c3 and be strangled by those rules.
Maybe, maybe not? The fact that we are muzzled by 501c3 makes us a creature of the state and not a mouthpiece of God. We abrogated a sacred duty and responsibility to God and our Savior when we decided to become a slave to the IRS in exchange for tax-free status. And furthermore, man cannot serve both God and Mammon, yet, that is exactly what the church is trying to do right now. :(

I find it tragic that you are an active covenant making member of the Kingdom of God on Earth in this the final dispensation of time yet seem totally clueless to the significance of what that really means in terms of the Lords work and glory for His children. The distractions of the world have apparently overcome you. I hope you can someday see things as they really are. Administrative affairs and tax laws mean absolutely nothing in the eternal realm of things when it pertains to the Lords Kingdom. The souls of mankind are what really are at stake. Seek to obtain Priesthood power as Elder Nelson pleaded and you will change your focus as to what really matters.

I absolutely loved conference yesterday and am so excited for today's sessions--it starts in 10 minutes!

I'm so sorry that some of those on the thread obviously don't enjoy the spiritual feast that I and others do when we hear conference. I understand why some of you don't feel it--I'm certain there are many of you who haven't listened to conference in a long time and some of you are steeped in Denver Snuffer that you can no longer feel the joy and power in the words of truth that you once did. That to me is so sad, but what can be done? We were sent here to make choices and we do that. I'm sorry though, that some have made choices that take them farther from the spirit and less able to be touched to know and witness the simple truths which are shared.

So, I pray that those who make the choice to tune in and listen today will be able to 'taste' and be filled with some of the spiritual feast which is offered, and hopefully some of us will be satisfied with what we've ingested from this wonderful offering. :D

Happy Conference LDSFF :!:

The quote you share here from Elder Nelson is precisely the one that motivated me the most to study the talk and implement his instruction. What he said is truth, the Lord will instruct you if you seek him. And he will instruct in miraculous ways and I do mean with miracles.

I agree! I remember listening to this talk (Yes I watch priesthood session :D ) It hit me like a ton of bricks. The quote is powerful and something truly to take notice in.

brianj wrote: September 27th, 2017, 8:26 pm The most amazing thing happened. Someone invited me over for Saturday afternoon session and an early dinner afterward! I was thinking of going to the Tabernacle for priesthood session just so I could spend a session with other people and not be completely alone. But with a deeply needed invitation I am looking forward to conference with even more excitement!
I would like to give you all a follow-up. I did things differently this time around: I prayed for guidance on specific issues. I also made an effort to take notes in all five sessions. For the two morning sessions I used my computer, which proved too distracting. For the afternoon sessions I used my tablet and a bluetooth keyboard; that worked well. For Priesthood session I took notes on paper, transcribing them to a text file later.

I made a mistake. I thought the invitation was for Saturday afternoon, but it was for Sunday. So I went home Saturday for afternoon session, then drove to SLC and ended up in the conference center for priesthood session. Walking to Temple Square I met a gentleman visiting from Belfast who asked what the tickets everybody wanted were for. I was able to talk with him a little bit, sharing about General Conference, the temple, Temple Square, the cutaway model of the temple in the visitor's center, and direct him to missionaries. Doing a little member missionary work felt GREAT!

All five sessions were a spiritual feast for me. I was able to use some of the things taught to help friends who are struggling. Being invited into a warm home, enjoying conversation with dinner instead of being all alone, receiving a couple deeply needed hugs, and coming to think of people as new friends was a great thing for helping me heal.

I believe that I received the guidance I sought. It is personal and sacred enough that I won't share it here. Much of that revelation came in the presence of my host family, though they were unaware of that personal revelation.

Last week I said that I felt this conference would be particularly significant. I don't know that it was for the rest of us, but it certainly was for me. I do hope it was for you all.
