I used to love video games but they got too hard and I got too mad at them to play.
I always enjoyed sports games, mostly Hockey. My favourite game of all time is NHL 96 on the Sega Genesis.
Caslevania 4 is a good one though I am awful at the game.

Anybody play "The Oregon Trail"? When I was young teen we inherited an old computer (green screen!) in addition to that game. Although it was ancient at that point, I had fun playing, even when seeing "you have died of dysentery" on the monitor, haha

I remember playing that in elementary school.

We had a home version of the original Pong, the black controller with two dials.

I had a TRS-80 I remember playing a game called Quest II, you wandered around finding quests, trying to win fights, find gold, and overthrow a fort.

In the late 70's and early 80's I would go to video arcades. Some of my favorites were:

When I got home from my mission in 1985, my Ricks College roommate had a computer with a Ghostbusters game, I played it a few times. Meh.

Since then I've lost interest in video games for the most part. I've done a few NES games and a couple of newer systems I don't remember, but they just don't interest me. I do like playing Rummy 500, Mahjong, and Solitaire on my phone occasionally, but I'd rather read, work on my book, or play with my dog. I'm thinking of getting back into blacksmithing, something I tried in my late teens but never really got too interested about.

For the most part, ive mostly "dabbled" in video games on occasion(never been very good); until two things happened: 1. My buddy gave me a PS3 in 2010 as a housewarming gift, and 2. Tron Evolution came out with the sequel Legacy. That was when I discovered the "Grid" actually existed, and I could battle people across the world in arenas using my disc, light cycle, etc...I was hooked. I had to actually get rid of the PS 3 and game, to avoid total addiction. I did purchase a used copy a few years later to play on the kids old Xbox 360, but I keep it at my nephews house, and only play it a few times a year to avoid problems. I just know that with the ever increasing power of evolving game platforms, the day is coming that even this game will be laughably primitively to what comes out with the next Tron movie.

League of Legends has a huge learning curve. One of my sons is into it there are over a hundred champions, and to be any good, competitive you pretty much have to have most of their strengths and weaknesses memorized, and there are upgrade paths within the game that ususally lasts about 20 minutes - you need to know how to properly upgrade whatever hero(es) you play. You can get into it and fool around, obviously, but playing in competitive mode certainly seems to be a major time commitment.

I've seen a lot of people mention the Civ games, and I don;t know how I overlooked it. The original Civ was honestly the first game I remember wanting to just get in "one more turn" and then it was 3:30 in the morning and honestly I had no idea it was that late. I don't love some of the tweaks to the later Civs, like they have different government types in one of them and it is clear that the game creators have a soft spot for Socialism...not a fan of that at all.

We had an Atari as a kid and I loved Pitfall and Qbert. No other versions have been as fun for me.
My best friend got a Nintendo and we spent hours playing Bubble Bobble. Fun game, happy music. Probably my favorite ever.
Lastly, I loved Gauntlet Legends for N64 because my husband and I played it while dating. Such good memories there.

Agreed. We had a group a few years back that would get on and we would play black ops together. Group consisted of a couple bishops a couple of high counselors, young men's president etc. it's a generation thing. Waste of time , yup, but I kind of look at it as a brotherhood. We don't really play any more but often get together and discuss gospel subjects over lunch.

Well, I probably had way more games than I needed as a kid (though most of them were hand-me-downs from relatives, or bought used or at a discount). My uncle gave me his SNES when I was 7, so the first games I played were Super Mario World and the DKC games, which hold a very special place in my heart. I had the manual for A Link to the Past, though no cartridge, so I was stuck with just the manual (which is beautifully drawn) until I eventually got the game and went on to play most of the Zelda games. I've also had the 16-bit Sonic games, Chrono Trigger and some Final Fantasy games.

When I was even younger (starting around 4) I also had some of the Humongous adventure games (Putt-putt, Freddi Fish, Spy Fox, etc) after we got our first computer. These were fantastic (especially the Pajama Sam games, which are still probably some of the most imaginative kid's games you can buy).

I've played video games since I was very little. My older brother bought an NES when I was 4 or 5 and from there I have played every Nintendo console.

There are too many games to name that I love. My favorite franchise is Zelda, with Mario being a very close second. I've played every Zelda game aside of the original Zelda for the NES and Majoras Mask. A couple years ago I went to the Zelda: Symphony of the Godesses concert at Abravanel Hall. That was by far my favorite concert I've been too. Such good music. I also just recently beat Breath of the Wild, which was an amazing game.

I've played nearly every Mario (including all Mario Karts) from the NES to now. I am really excited for Odyssey to come out next month.

When it comes to nostalgia though, aside of Mario and Zelda (since there are too many to name), here are some of my favorites:

Dragon Warrior, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country (1,2,3), Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Little Nemo, Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Street Fighter 2, Halo 2, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Warcraft 2, Luigis Mansion.... etc. This is definitely not all, but a few that I could think of off the top of my head..

The only time I play them is when I have a bunch of friends over.
We get pizza, yammer about all sorts of things and (sometimes) play video games, though board games work too.
By myself it's not too fun, I liked them as a kid, mostly sports games since I was terrible at actual sports lol.
