As typical of most updates on most websites and software, I don't like it. I think the biggest nuisance is the incredible amount of empty space. I can fit one+ small post on my screen now, where before I could fit 2-3. I could see 10 threads; now I can see 5. That's a lot so scrolling and a lot of getting lost for me.

The side bar takes up a lot of space, too.

But if the "ldsff2015" option remains, I will be very, very happy!

Any specifics would be helpful. What makes it hard to read?

This new design started with a forum template made by someone else and over the past few days I've been customizing it and improving it as I felt was needed. If some people think it's "hard to read" and if there are actual UI/UX (user interface / user experience) issues that make it that way, I would like to improve it.

It's better now. I think one of the above suggestions fixed it.

I don't like the oval cropping on my avatar but that's just personal preference. It looks good on some of the avatars but I don't like it on mine

I think it was intended to be for square avatars - which seems fine.

Hmmm... I cropped another image, resized to 150 X 150 pixels on my paint program (which used to work) but when I try to upload it says it's thousand's of pixels wide and long. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

The site seems faster... Like you moved from outdated webserver technology to newer and better performing technology...

A time machine would be cool. Put in a date and time, and presto you see the recent posts.

Prolly a way to do this manually using search?

What do you mean?

EDIT: That might be resolved for you now, if you were referring to the videos not resizing on smaller/mobile screens. The YouTube videos are responsive now.

Good enough I guess but I wanted a sized down version not a cropped down one
It used to work manually on paint but it doesn't now, I don't expect you to have to intervene every time I change my avatar, but whatever...
Thanks for your help

It's still the same (I use a pc) the video doesn't fit in the comments section, you have to scroll to see the other side of the video and can't see the whole video at once

Maybe your browser cache hasn't updated yet and you're still seeing how it was before I changed it.

Brian, I'm a professional UX/UI/front end/graphic designer and am very skilled with HTML/CSS/LESS. I agree with some of the sentiments about the spacing. While I still thought the old site is fine, I do kind of like many aspects of the new format. I think it can be made to work if we can address some of the issues that others have mentioned. I don't find the sidebar problematic and it can collapse down as well but it is much more convenient I think.

Many aspects are different and they'll take some getting used to but that's how it is with anything. I've been on this forum for almost 10 years or so now I think so I'm definitely used to the old one, but I think an update is a good idea, especially if the experience can be improved on mobile. I might be able to help you with some of these things.

I think we need to get some more feedback from the forum users and take those things into consideration.

The print is so small it is difficult to read. And I still can't see an option to go to my first unread posting in a topic. I'm using an IPad. I don't see the blue dot you referenced above.

That's odd, considering the print is bigger than the older forum design.

* Make more compact: Reduce the padding of virtually every div, sidebar lists, and line spacing in posts (to make more text visible per page and faster to scroll through, thus more friendly for not just mobile but all displays).
* On the index, don't truncate the width of the Last Post column: increase its width and/or wrap its text.
* Quote scrollbars: Annoying but sometimes desired. Add a toggle?

Sidebar:
* Don't crop the sides of the LDSFF logo.
* Make the sidebar bg the blue of the LDSFF logo.

Full editor:
* In "Post a reply," the subject text is currently centered and truncated but scrollable. Instead, align it next to "Subject: " and don't truncate it.
* "youtube": 1. currently overflows from the button, so replace it with a YouTube icon, and 2. edit the tooltip to something like "Embed a YouTube video: ...".
* s: 1. could (still) use a tooltip, 2. should be s, and 3. would better be placed after U.
* "Font colour": Are you Bri'ish? ;)

for the youtube video you could use the bootstrap icon glyphicon glyphicon-facetime-video.

The color for text in quotes and signatures is a really light grey and for me at least, its a strain to read. Can you make it a bit darker or something that contrasts with the background more?

There used to be an asterisk by posts that I've commented on. There doesn't seem to be an indicator of that anymore as far as I can tell.
