But it's a behavior which can be helpful if it's done in a healthy way. I am an alcoholic. That's a label I put on myself because I've proven to myself that I cannot casually drink alcohol, therefore acknowledging that about myself gives me a recognized weakness which can be stronger in me than it is in others.
If the admission that "I'm a homosexual" meant that people realized they had a problem and were trying to overcome it, I would agree with you. Unfortunately, that is not how this particular title is used.

Serragon wrote: October 13th, 2017, 5:44 pm Yes, you do go around saying "Hi, my name is Daniel and I'm gay" because you have a husband and introduce him as such. By your own admission others know you are homosexual because of this. They know you are embracing your fetish instead of subduing it.

If you had not taken this title upon yourself, then no one would know except the few people you confided in. The focus would be on helping you to subdue this carnal part of yourself instead of reveling in it.

Your final 2 sentences are irrelevant. You can find meaning and value in all manner of relationships. It does not make them moral or appropriate.
I think you're missing my point, but it appears to be little more than a semantic difference to you, so it's not worth arguing over.

Your final paragraph indicates there's little point in continuing the conversation with someone who isn't willing to have a good-faith discussion. I hope no one ever tells you the value you derive from your relationship with your spouse is "irrelevant." That's a pretty rotten thing to say, regardless of feelings of religious superiorty.

I made a change to your comment to reflect how I feel about it. I have a gay married couple who are friends, and this distinction is quite important to them.

They're gay, both of them. He is, and so is she. I am one of the only people who knows about this, though, not even their 3 daughters know (I don't think.) They're both very faithful people, very strong with the Spirit. This has helped them both to adjust to the life they needed rather than the one they wanted. They love and respect each other, and it's been hard for them, but they've made it work.

However, and the importance of this CANNOT be understated, they do NOT wear their gayness as a badge. They were honest with each other before their marriage, and the only reason I became aware of it (though I certainly suspected) was because of the situation of my own excommunication and the wild path my life took to get there.

Daniel2 wrote: October 13th, 2017, 7:33 pm I hope no one ever tells you the value you derive from your relationship with your spouse is "irrelevant."
It's not that the relationship is or isn't important, it's that a person can never have a spouse of the same gender in God's plan. Legal definitions for the terrestrial world can be altered to allow for it, but we've been given clear revelation on this:
"...Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose... God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife..."
-- The Family: A Proclamation to the World
A same sex couple living together in sin is neither more nor less in need of repentance and forgiveness than a heterosexual couple is, but there is a functional difference: A man and woman can repent and be married. A same sex couple cannot be married according to God's proclamation to us. It's not that I think same sex activity is "disgusting" or any of those negative feelings normally associated with SSA, especially in the LDS community (although far more so in the Baptist one) because from my own experience I understand that's a matter of preference and taste. I also recognize that pleasure and perversion can go together just as easily as pleasure and happiness, but perversion and happiness cannot. I recognize that if I pervert the Word of Wisdom with couple of bottles of Grey Goose Citron or Macallan 18 I may get some pleasure out of it, but I'll also get a profoundly corresponding pain eventually.

It's very important that church leaders remind us that we're commanded to share the gospel with love, not with disgust. People with weaknesses need to be accepted and loved and helped. However, there are a couple of bridges the two sides find profoundly difficult to cross:

Religious people, especially those with a Kinsey Scale score of 0 or even 1 have a difficult time finding love and acceptance of the moral differences between hetero- and homo- sexual people. Some people, even some on this board are rabidly, fanatically dedicated to pointing out the perversion of the ways of people with SSA. Ironically, this is often accompanied by a complete blindness to their own sin of pride. I believe it is often these people the church leaders are trying to reach out to so that the gospel can be preached with Christ's love rather than the verbal rack and pincers.

The other side to that coin is that people who are gay will fall back on words aimed to show compassion and claim they actually justify sin. God's commandments on this are clear: Our gender in an inherent part of who we are, being sons and daughters of God. Use of sexual activity is only permitted between a male husband and his lawfully married female wife. It's important that we all accept that not everyone will have the same philosophical views, but that doesn't justify mistreatment of anyone.

You know...speaking of the devil I've been seeing all this spam on this Weinstein guy for the past week. And I've noticed that some of his victims are now lesbians. I still think that homosexuality is wrong and I trust the scriptures on this.

But I do wonder if some people are like that because of predators like this guy.

Thinker wrote: April 3rd, 2016, 2:10 pm but really, homosexuality is behavior independent of the identity of an individual.
When you label yourself something, self-fulfilling prophecy can happen and it basically makes people stuck either in their minds or in those doing the labeling.
But behavior must be labeled for what it is - if it causes harm and proves to be a disorder (state of confusion) then it is important to not deny the truth, for the sake of well-being of those who believe whatever you say.
"Homosexuality" isn't a behavior... it's "sexual attraction to people of one's own sex." Sexual behavior is behavior.
Yes, it is also behavior:
"homosexuality: romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender."
While we cannot and do not choose to whom we're attracted, we can choose how and when to act upon them.
I agree in part. I also believe that Jesus had some wisdom in giving the higher law - that even if you lust after someone, it will increase, not decrease attraction.
How we choose to define ourselves may or may not be congruent with our inherent sexual orientation.
Now, I strongly disagree. We are not defined by any preferences. I may prefer the mountains over the beach - but that is not who I am.
I was just talking to someone this morning about how I hated hearing in AA/NA meetings, "my name is... and I am an addict." That is not who you are! I'd rather people say, "My name is.... and I am a child of God who has struggled but I am overcoming." Labels are powerful lies that are based on cognitive distortion. Labeling a complex spiritual being having a human experience - as just one tiny detail of one of the many experiences they have - is a form of prejudice.
Many of us who have denied our innate attractions for a long time and dealt with them in unhealthy and dysfunctional ways find a sense of peace and fulfillment in acknowledging that we are, in fact, gay. Doing so isn't always defining ourselves by our sexual behavior, because many of us identify as gay whether we're acting on it or not. Our invocation of the identity as 'gay' or 'lesbian' is a relief, because we finally feel we no longer have to pretend to be or seem like someone we're not.

Even as it cautions people not to define themselves by their homosexuality, the LDS church recognizes that coming out can be valuable and healthy for at least some people and even some of it's own members.
It's understandable to have developed deviated sexual preferences - and then feeling pressure to hide it. Such pressure could actually make it more difficult to really deal with the issue at hand - and why and how such disordered sexual preferences were learned/developed. This is the only potential benefit I see from this homosexual movement. Unfortunately it seems mostly just potential benefit because the movement is spreading such lies associated with it. Ideally, people who struggle with homosexual preferences don't feel excessive shame for their feelings, yet also don't indulge them. Ideally, they (as we all would benefit from doing) search their souls to heal, little by little.

Daniel, you are NOT your sexual preference. That is not who you are at all. The homosexual agenda has made it about who you are - for deviant reasons - mostly the lie that you have no free agency if it's "just who you are." It remind me of this girl I knew in HS who derived her self-esteem from her good voice. You try to talk to her about anything else - music, friends, church - anything - she'd always bring it back about her voice. Not only did she make it her identity - but it became her god. I see sickness in some with homosexual preferences making their sexual preference not only their identity - but also their god, their scapegoat, their excuse.

Deep down, you know that the lifestyle you're living is wrong - not just anatomically - which is painfully obvious, but also psychologically and spiritually. Research has shown (as I linked in the other thread) that homosexual preferences are learned in various ways - often by abuse (physical &/or sexual), and other issues. My grandma was a councilor in an area in CA that had a high percentage of people with homosexual preferences & her findings support such research - every person with homosexual preferences that she counciled had been sexually abused. It makes me so sad. In HS, I stood up for a guy who was being teased for acting feminine. I've also found that friends I've known who have developed homosexual preferences had been sexually abused as a child. It breaks my heart to think of children going through something so horrific like that. Still, the way to overcome and heal is NOT to repeat the abuse, nor to pretend it had no impact - but to learn a better, healthier way.

The reason I post about the medical and statistical facts of homosexual practices - is because I want to limit suffering and promote healing.
Many are telling harmful lies - pretending homosexuality is "gay happy rainbows" when in reality it often leads to sickness and premature death.
I hope you will be honest in how you think of and present homosexuality - for the good of yourself and others.

I feel very strongly that people shouldn't label themselves as a sin being their identity. Think about what that means. If someone says I'm an alcoholic, they wouldn't say I'm alcohol. They would instead say I struggle against alcohol. Alcohol isn't their identity, being a child of God is our identity. We fill up ourselves with good things and fruits of the gospel, and in the process discover what being a child of God means by simple experiences with truth.

I've noticed that in particular queers, fags, and homos seem caught up in labeling themselves as their addiction more than other groups. They drown each other in sin to make it so they can't even get any air is what it seems to me, but bear in mind I don't struggle with this. But I see their articles on the net and people posting against them. And it seems obvious that they want to label themselves as their sin being their identity. I think this is dangerous.

If I label myself as a particular sin, it prevents me from seeing I'm more than that. My identity as a child of God helps me to see that there's a plan, there's a way out, even if it looks like the world may be trying to drown me with no chance for escape. A child of God can be lifted out of trouble, but trash and sins can't be lifted from their fallen state.

Beware the danger of labeling!

Some of what you wrote reminds me of a spiritual impression I had recently but had kept it to myself, partly out of fear of offending people. I have family & friends with homosexual preferences & as I mentioned, they all have been sexually abused. Some of them are actively working on healing - others seem to be going the opposite direction. For the latter group (as well as others I know who’ve been sexually abused & are repeating hetero abuse) - I felt impressed of the need to protect children. And what you mentioned about being kind but also having boundaries & standards - that is a way to protect children. Some may say that kindness with standards (& the church’s boundaries) is “hateful” but I see it as loving - striving for the best for all involved.

"Students at Grand County High School in Utah were supposed to attend poetry slam workshops on tolerance and acceptance. Instead, students were subjected to political rhetoric, LGBT propaganda and something called “identity mapping.”
Parents told the Todd Starnes Show that one of the workshop leaders announced to the children, “I’m queer and I’m Trump’s worst enemy.”
An untold number of students were directed by workshop leaders to separate themselves intro groups based on their sexual identity and their religious preference.
Parents told the Todd Starnes Show they are livid over the September event.
“I’m sending my daughter to school to get an education, not to learn about the LGBTQ community,” one parent said.
Supt. J.T. Stroder told the Todd Starnes Show the presentations were made to the entire student body during English class by poets connected to Moab Pride, a local LGBT organisation.
“There were some inappropriate examples used in those presentations – asking students to identify certain things about themselves that is protected by law,” the superintendent admitted.
He sent a letter to parents detailing his concerns about what happened at the high school.
“I would not expect an exercise in which individual students are asked to reveal their sexual orientation and gender identity to be part of the English curriculum,” he wrote. “In this case, there was no parent notification that topics relating to sexuality would be discussed outside the approved health curriculum, which was not acceptable.”
Parents want to know why the Moab Pride group was allowed inside the high school and why teachers did not intervene when the group began to solicit personal information from the children.
“I really don’t have an explanation,” the superintendent said. “It caught the school off guard.”
One parent, who asked not to be identified, told me students were divided up by religion, sexual preference and political views.
“Their intention was to plant seeds in the high school. They were trying to indoctrinate the kids. When you have people saying ‘I’m a queer and it’s okay. I’m a lesbian and it’s okay’ – I mean – that’s indoctrination,” the parent told me.
As for the workshop where kids were forced to engage in identity mapping?
“I don’t know what that means,” the superintendent said.
Regardless, the school district said the presenters will not be invited back to the school.
“Every child that walks into that school has to feel safe no matter what their religious views are or their sexual preference,” a parent said. “Instead of it being anti-bullying, the workshops directed pointed them out.”
The folks in Grand County, Utah just learned a very important lesson about the sex and gender revolutionaries. They preach tolerance and acceptance, but the revolutionaries don’t practice what they preach."

They frame it one way these days, like when I was a kid if someone was gay people didn't care but they didn't shove it down your throat and threaten to use the government to throw you in jail if you didn't agree with same sex marriage.
It's not live and let live anymore (if it ever really was, it felt like that when I was young but I am not that old). I grew up in a pretty liberal home and we didn't have gay poetry slams or whatever that is. We didn't have anything like that at school, now it's their way or the highway, they seek you out to demonize you because the left needs to be victims.
If a movement needs to be forced on people vs them taking to it naturally it is a flawed movement.
I never had a problem with gays, but apparently they have a problem with me, because I am straight, white and don't like socialism I am the devil, so to hell with them.

Thanks for sharing that, Elizabeth.
Identity politics is NOT about acceptance of individuals - and is not only illogical but it is dehumanizing.
It's the ultimate of prejudice to say, "Oh, you're a ------? I know all about you I need to know."
Ben Shapiro has some insightful perspectives about identity politics.

Well put, Sirocco. They're really shooting themselves when they treat people so badly. I & others I've seen where we began with sincere questions - but they couldn't handle even that level of inquiry and would take it personal - and attack with bullying. I've gotten anonymously threatened - besides called many names and put downs - just for stating facts they didn't like.

There's a temptation to want to hate them back. But deep down, I consider that many "leftists" - like at Google - are simply going along with insane leftist ideologies so they don't get fired or get a bad grade etc.. And it is encouraging when people like you see it for what it is. I find hope that even if media is trying to over-represent leftist insanity - there are many more very sane people who won't fall for manipulative lies.

I don't consider them dumb, I consider them blind to reality and slaves to their emotions and a false idea of the world and how things are run.
People want to fit in and since that's what in people go that way even if they don't believe in it.

I made a choice and went with what I felt was right and lost quite a few friends, but in the end I think it's for the best.

Good points. I suppose to an extent, we are all tempted to allow our emotions to control us - but with the homosexual movement - it has become like a big religion - "emotional reasoning." Emotions are important - but without reasoning and conscience - it can lead someone to hell. Brain studies show that when we're angry - the brain loses ability to reason. The other day, I was really angry when I took my child's video game away - and I hid it while I was angry - and forgot where I put it! I still don't know where it is - even when I want to find it! haha

I admire that you've prioritized doing what you thought and felt to be right - above being liked.
A true friend wouldn't place such conditions. I've lost some friends because of leftist lies. It hurt and still hurts - but I remind myself that I have good friends who - even when we disagree - can handle it and still be friends.

Hi Sirocco,
Yes, and those LGBTQxyzblabla who struggle with sexual reality also struggle to realize how they are being used as tools to decrease the population. Homosexuality obviously can’t produce offspring, and, those practicing it tend to get sick and die sooner, statistically. But they don’t see how they are being dissed, and maybe are unable to see it. This is why, IMO, those who don’t struggle with sexual distortions but support delusional harmful homosexual behavior are cruel, not loving.

One of the biggest threats to America’s founding principles is limiting free speech, which homosexual fanatics try to do. It is essential to maintain this right, because it allows speakers to face accountability so if something that is not right is said, it will naturally be corrected by feedback. But if that is silenced - then incorrect ideas cannot be refined and that is dangerous- especially then people are lead to follow corruption without question.

So, the definition of homosexuality was changed from being a disorder to being normalized, not because of scientific research, but as a political move by harassing homosexual lobbyists.

The truth found in undeniable statistics is that actions based on homosexual practice make it a disorder (state of confusion) and even one that causes suffering by such confusion:

1. Homosexuality is not ever truly sex but involves fetishes, because sex involves the sexual organs of each, and homosexuality must resort to subsitutes... fetishes. (Fetish: any object or nongenital part of the body that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation. ) Anal sex is such a fetish. Some fetishes cause no harm, but unfortunatley anal sex can cause anal fissures, anal cancer, colon rupture and bacterial infections.

2. According to the United States Center for Disease Control (US CDC), those with homosexual practices are many times more likely to contract STDs than heterosexuals. http://www.cdc.gov/stdconference/2000/m ... ay2000.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

3. According to the United States Center for Disease Control (US CDC), those with homosexual practices are many times more likely to contract AIDS than heterosexuals. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/msm/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

4. Also According to the United States Center for Disease Control (US CDC), those who engage in homosexual practices are more likely to have mental illness. Research also has found that, compared to other men, MSM are at increased risk of: Major depression during adolescence and adulthood; Bipolar disorder; and Generalized anxiety disorder during adolescence and adulthood. MSM are also at greater risk for other health threats that often occur in conjunction with mental health problems (i.e., co-morbidities). These include greater use of illegal drugs and a greater risk for suicide.

5. Most babies are born healthy, without disorders, including without homosexual preferences. At birth, our brains are only 25% developed. This makes us less intelligent at birth than many other mamals, however it ends up in our best interest because along with more caregiving support, we are better able to adapt to environmental influences. Under various circumstances, some such adaptations result in the development of homosexual fetishes. There is no such thing as a gay gene - as mentioned in the first link above.

Evidence shows that the development of homosexual practices are more linked to environmental influences than to biology. Science does not support the claim that homosexuality is genetic.. Even Homosexual Researchers Debunk ‘Born Gay’ Urban Legend http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/724179/posts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"1. No research has found provable biological or genetic differences between heterosexuals & homosexuals that weren't caused by their behavior. 2. In 2 large studies conducted... Homosexuals overwhelmingly believed their feelings and behavior were the result of social or environmental influences. (Note that the focus of homosexual fetishes is limited to select countries, globally.) 3. Older homosexuals often approach the young 4. Early homosexual experiences influence adult patters of behavior 5. Sexual conduct is influenced by cultural factors - esp. religious convictions 6. Many change their sexual preferences 7. There are many ex-homosexuals"

The homosexual herd is trying to push its way into the public - to make this disorder that statistically proves to be harmful, be accepted, even legally. Don't fall for it. Love people, don't love the sin.
"Tolerance applies to persons, but never to truth. Intolerance applies to truth, but never to persons. Tolerance applies to the erring; intolerance to the error." -F. Sheen
Genes and environment are definitely related in thousands of cases at the very least.

I would bet a million dollars, if I were a betting man, that there are more than one individual on this forum who has their own little "fetish" or fetishes that they keep secret and hidden, too ashamed to admit it and worried that someone might find out, and yet they believe they are superior to and better than the "homosexual". Or, they have rationalized away their own sins by comparing themselves to others or the sins of others.

In short, I would bet a million dollars that there is more than one hypocrite participating in these threads.

(Fetish: any object or nongenital part of the body that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation. ) Anal sex is such a fetish. Some fetishes cause no harm, but unfortunatley anal sex can cause anal fissures, anal cancer, colon rupture and bacterial infections.

2. According to the United States Center for Disease Control (US CDC), those with homosexual practices are many times more likely to contract STDs than heterosexuals. http://www.cdc.gov/stdconference/2000/m ... ay2000.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

3. According to the United States Center for Disease Control (US CDC), those with homosexual practices are many times more likely to contract AIDS than heterosexuals. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/msm/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Evidence shows that the development of homosexual practices are more linked to environmental influences than to biology. Science does not support the claim that homosexuality is genetic.. Even Homosexual Researchers Debunk ‘Born Gay’ Urban Legend http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/724179/posts" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Be prepared to have individuals selectively accept and reject science. Accept when it supports them, reject it when it doesn't. In general, why do people do such things? Prejudice and bias.

Unfortunately what you say here is true as well. What you are describing is happening and this is clearly evil and wrong and I'm 100% opposed to these types of tactics, sentiments, ideologies, and efforts. I believe that this is the reason why we are seeing some of the reactions we are seeing from people. They are reacting to the militant homosexual agenda that is very harmful to freedom and liberty.

But, we do need to make a distinction between what you are describing and the individual who might be struggling. We can't stereotype or generalize. We need to use a scalpel as opposed to a bulldozer.

We do need to make distinctions - as clear as possible because homosexuality is shrouded in so much deception.
Evil behavior is made out to be good. Media & homosexual fanatic bullies push homosexual lies like bulldozers.
While there are exceptions, sickness, statistically common in homosexuality, is pretended to be healthy “gay rainbows.”
It’s imperative to be bold - to cut through bulldozing homosexual lies with the sword of truth.

I think a scalpel of truth would be more effective. An "eye for an eye" is old school. Going all hardcore and militant to combat hardcore and militant will do more harm in the end than good and because it isn't "Good".

Ultimate strength exist in meekness, humility, kindness, gentleness, love, and light.
