I love quotes!
Instead of starting a new thread (there are already many "quote" threads), I thought I'd bring back this one.

The following are from Tony Robbins:

"The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you’re in control of your life. If you don’t, life controls you.

Identify your problems, but give your power and energy to solutions.

Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.

People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.

Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.

Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.

Lack of emotion causes lack of progress and lack of motivation.

If you don’t set a baseline standard for what you’ll accept in life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviors and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve.

Commit to CANI! – Constant And Never-ending Improvement.

Where focus goes, energy flows."

some from me...
Humans just lead short, boring, insignificant lives, so they make up stories to feel like they're a part of something bigger. They want to blame all the world's problems on some single enemy they can fight, instead of a complex network of interrelated forces beyond anyone's control.
-Pearl (space rock on kids show).

Don't get hung up on these minor facts. Truth is about more than that, truth is a feeling in your gut that you know is true! Truth is searching for anything that proves you're right no matter how small, and holding on to that, no matter what.

Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem.
~ Ronald Reagan

Now I recall the Recon Marines ragged, filthy cammie shirted young men in green paint who move silent like the fog with deadly purpose in their eyes. Swift, Silent, Deadly. I smile.
~ GYSGT Correll, USMC, Retired Recon Marine

A ship without Marines is like a garment without buttons.
~ Admiral David D. Porter, USN

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marine: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a secondhand opinion.

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!
~ Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. They're aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They've got really short hair and they always go for the throat.
~ RAdm. Jay R. Stark, USN, 10 November 1995

I love the Corps for those intangible possessions that cannot be issued: pride, honor, integrity, and being able to carry on the traditions for generations of warriors past.

You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth, and the amusing thing about it is that they are.
~ Father Kevin Keaney, 1st Marine Division Chaplain, Korean War

The bended knee is not a tradition of our Corps.
~ Alexander A. Vandergrift, USMC

By their victory, the 3rd, 4th and 5th Marine Divisions and other units of the Fifth Amphibious Corps have made an accounting to their country which only history will be able to value fully. Among the Americans who served on Iwo Island, uncommon valor was a common virtue.

Good quotes! Thanks.

Jason,
After witnessing parts of what goes on in bootcamp, my respect for all military was increased.
One of my close friends was in the Marines - he worked so hard and had a lot of pride.
Whatever he did, he put his heart, body and soul into it.
Unfortunately he died in Iraq - served more than asked.
I pray for him and his family - & have sensed his presence at times. Strong spirit!

No Chesty quotes? Really?

At the Chosin Reservoir: "Don’t forget that you’re First Marines! Not all the Communists in hell can overrun you!"

Regarding the Korean war: "There are not enough chinamen in the world to stop a fully armed Marine regiment from going where ever they want to go."

When he first saw a flame thrower: "Where do you put the bayonet?"

Once Chesty came across a lieutenant who had ordered an enlisted Marine to give 100 salutes after that Marine had failed to salute the officer. Chesty said: "You were absolutely correct in making him salute you 100 times, lieutenant, but you know that an officer must return every salute he receives. Now return them all, and I will keep count."

It's 23:21 now and I'm about to go to bed. Good night Chesty, wherever you are.

"I admire men and women who have developed the questing spirit, who are unafraid of new ideas as stepping stones to progress. We should, of course, respect the opinions of others, but we should also be unafraid to dissent–if we are informed. Thoughts and expressions compete in the marketplace of thought, and in that competition truth emerges triumphant. Only error fears freedom of expression…” — Hugh B. Brown

Carl Jung: who saw no dividing mine between spirituality and psychology...

No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell.”

“Depression is like a woman in black. If she turns up, don’t shoo her away. Invite her in, offer her a seat, treat her like a guest and listen to what she wants to say.”

Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism.

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.

The healthy man does not torture others – generally it is the tortured who turn into torturers.

The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living that suits all cases.

There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotions.

A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions has never overcome them.

In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.

It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.

Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.

Knowledge rests not upon truth alone, but upon error also.

Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain.

Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you.

The debt we owe to the play of imagination is incalculable.

The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it.

The pendulum of the mind alternates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong.

The word “happiness” would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.

Who has fully realized that history is not contained in thick books but lives in our very blood?

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

In magnifying/living the 11th article of faith & to see what wisdom may be found, here are some quotes by Buddha. But 1st, realize that Buddhism was taught in Israel for hundreds of years by the time Jesus was born, and Jesus mentioned 3 wise men of the east. Jesus wrote, “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” -Luke 17:20-21 Buddha similarly taught that spirituality is found within not externally.

Other quotes by Buddha:
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”

“You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.”

“To keep the body in good health is a duty...otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.”
