LOL!

OK, now a seriously positive video, about a young LDS couple facing (and not ignoring) challenges regarding the Bk of Abraham (etc).

Yes, we get to the point in our studies where we can CHOOSE to believe or choose to doubt. Choice, agency, hope, faith. Not certainty (usually), but faith.
I have subscribed to these vids... recommending the one above that I watched in full. Well done.

For the record - I think that long-term grid-out is a likely scenario (unfortunately) in the near future.

One "easy" way it could be done by the terrorists/gads, possibly as false flag, is as follows:
Government Agency: If 9 Substations Are Destroyed, The Power Grid Could Be Down For 18 Months
By Michael Snyder, on March 18th, 2014

What would you do if the Internet or the power grid went down for over a year? Our key infrastructure, including the Internet and the power grid, is far more vulnerable than most people would dare to imagine. These days, most people simply take for granted that the lights will always be on and that the Internet will always function properly. But what if all that changed someday in the blink of an eye? According to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's latest report, all it would take to plunge the entire nation into darkness for more than a year would be to knock out a transformer manufacturer and just 9 of our 55,000 electrical substations on a really hot summer day. The reality of the matter is that our power grid is in desperate need of updating, and there is very little or no physical security at most of these substations. If terrorists, or saboteurs, or special operations forces wanted to take down our power grid, it would not be very difficult. And as you will read about later in this article, the Internet is extremely vulnerable as well.

When I read the following statement from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's latest report, I was absolutely floored...

"Destroy nine interconnection substations and a transformer manufacturer and the entire United States grid would be down for at least 18 months, probably longer."

Wow.

What would you do without power for 18 months?

FERC studied what it would take to collapse the entire electrical grid from coast to coast. What they found was quite unsettling...

In its modeling, FERC studied what would happen if various combinations of substations were crippled in the three electrical systems that serve the contiguous U.S. The agency concluded the systems could go dark if as few as nine locations were knocked out: four in the East, three in the West and two in Texas, people with knowledge of the analysis said.

The actual number of locations that would have to be knocked out to spawn a massive blackout would vary depending on available generation resources, energy demand, which is highest on hot days, and other factors, experts said. Because it is difficult to build new transmission routes, existing big substations are becoming more crucial to handling electricity.

So what would life look like without any power for a long period of time? The following list comes from one of my previous articles...

-There would be no heat for your home.

-Water would no longer be pumped into most homes.

-Your computer would not work.

-There would be no Internet.

-Your phones would not work.

-There would be no television.

-There would be no radio.

-ATM machines would be shut down.

-There would be no banking.

-Your debit cards and credit cards would not work.

-Without electricity, gas stations would not be functioning.

-Most people would be unable to do their jobs without electricity and employment would collapse.

-Commerce would be brought to a standstill.

-Hospitals would not be able to function.

-You would quickly start running out of medicine.

-All refrigeration would shut down and frozen foods in our homes and supermarkets would start to go bad.

If you want to get an idea of how quickly society would descend into chaos, just watch the documentary "American Blackout" some time. It will chill you to your bones.

The truth is that we live in an unprecedented time. We have become extremely dependent on technology, and that technology could be stripped away from us in an instant.

Right now, our power grid is exceedingly vulnerable, and all the experts know this, but very little is being done to actually protect it...

"The power grid, built over many decades in a benign environment, now faces a range of threats it was never designed to survive," said Paul Stockton, a former assistant secretary of defense and president of risk-assessment firm Cloud Peak Analytics. "That's got to be the focus going forward."

If a group of agents working for a foreign government or a terrorist organization wanted to bring us to our knees, they could do it.

In fact, there have actually been recent attacks on some of our power stations. Here is just one example…

The Wall Street Journal’s Rebecca Smith reports that a former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission chairman is acknowledging for the first time that a group of snipers shot up a Silicon Valley substation for 19 minutes last year, knocking out 17 transformers before slipping away into the night.

The attack was “the most significant incident of domestic terrorism involving the grid that has ever occurred” in the U.S., Jon Wellinghoff, who was chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission at the time, told Smith.

Have you heard about that attack before now?

Most Americans have not.

But it should have been big news.

At the scene, authorities found "more than 100 fingerprint-free shell casings", and little piles of rocks "that appeared to have been left by an advance scout to tell the attackers where to get the best shots."

So what happens someday when the bad guys decide to conduct a coordinated attack against our power grid with heavy weapons?

It could happen.

In addition, as I mentioned at the top of this article, the Internet is extremely vulnerable as well.

For example, did you know that authorities are so freaked out about the security of the Internet that they have given "the keys to the Internet" to a very small group of individuals that meet four times per year?

It's true. The following is from a recent story posted by the Guardian...

The keyholders have been meeting four times a year, twice on the east coast of the US and twice here on the west, since 2010. Gaining access to their inner sanctum isn't easy, but last month I was invited along to watch the ceremony and meet some of the keyholders – a select group of security experts from around the world. All have long backgrounds in internet security and work for various international institutions. They were chosen for their geographical spread as well as their experience – no one country is allowed to have too many keyholders. They travel to the ceremony at their own, or their employer's, expense.

What these men and women control is the system at the heart of the web: the domain name system, or DNS. This is the internet's version of a telephone directory – a series of registers linking web addresses to a series of numbers, called IP addresses. Without these addresses, you would need to know a long sequence of numbers for every site you wanted to visit. To get to the Guardian, for instance, you'd have to enter "77.91.251.10" instead of theguardian.com.

If the system that controls those IP addresses gets hijacked or damaged, we would definitely need someone to press the "reset button" on the Internet.

Sadly, the hackers always seem to be several steps ahead of the authorities. In fact, according to one recent report, breaches of U.S. government computer networks go undetected 40 percent of the time…

A new report by Sen. Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) details widespread cybersecurity breaches in the federal government, despite billions in spending to secure the nation’s most sensitive information.

The report, released on Tuesday, found that approximately 40 percent of breaches go undetected, and highlighted “serious vulnerabilities in the government’s efforts to protect its own civilian computers and networks.”

“In the past few years, we have seen significant breaches in cybersecurity which could affect critical U.S. infrastructure,” the report said. “Data on the nation’s weakest dams, including those which could kill Americans if they failed, were stolen by a malicious intruder. Nuclear plants’ confidential cybersecurity plans have been left unprotected. Blueprints for the technology undergirding the New York Stock Exchange were exposed to hackers.”

Yikes.

And things are not much better when it comes to cybersecurity in the private sector either. According to Symantec, there was a 42 percent increase in cyberattacks against businesses in the United States last year. And according to a recent report in the Telegraph, our major banks are being hit with cyberattacks "every minute of every day"...

Every minute, of every hour, of every day, a major financial institution is under attack.

Threats range from teenagers in their bedrooms engaging in adolescent “hacktivism”, to sophisticated criminal gangs and state-sponsored terrorists attempting everything from extortion to industrial espionage. Though the details of these crimes remain scant, cyber security experts are clear that behind-the-scenes online attacks have already had far reaching consequences for banks and the financial markets.

For much more on all of this, please see my previous article entitled "Big Banks Are Being Hit With Cyberattacks 'Every Minute Of Every Day'".

Up until now, attacks on our infrastructure have not caused any significant interruptions in our lifestyles.

But at some point that will change.

Are you prepared for that to happen?

We live at a time when our world is becoming increasingly unstable. In the years ahead it is quite likely that we will see massive economic problems, major natural disasters, serious terror attacks and war. Any one of those could cause substantial disruptions in the way that we live.

At this point, even NASA is warning that "civilization could collapse"...

A new study sponsored by Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Center has highlighted the prospect that global industrial civilisation could collapse in coming decades due to unsustainable resource exploitation and increasingly unequal wealth distribution.

Noting that warnings of 'collapse' are often seen to be fringe or controversial, the study attempts to make sense of compelling historical data showing that "the process of rise-and-collapse is actually a recurrent cycle found throughout history." Cases of severe civilisational disruption due to "precipitous collapse - often lasting centuries - have been quite common."

So let us hope for the best.

But let us also prepare for the worst.
Think it through / Ponder / How would your town fare with >18 months of grid-out nationwide (and into Canada)?

Taking down our power grid would be the quickest way for a foreign power to cripple us. Then all they'd have to do is sit back and wait while we die from lack of food and water, or from killing each other over the remaining resources. It would be brutal.

No foreign power will takes us over, though many of us will be cleansed. Our Constitution will not be destroyed though it will come close. Our country will not cease to exist, just many of it's people will cease to exist in mortality And most will go into the Spirit World to be taught, some to teach!

For me, either I stay or I teach, makes no difference to me, I'm prepared for either possibility, and I have no fear!

Maybe...they run the risk that the existing power structure would lose the ability to control the masses. Plague would be much more effective...same risk but with the assurance that most would die rather quickly.

As Bob stated though....let come what comes!

Phones and communications have the same/similar vulnerabilities. Everything goes through a handful of buildings. With similar repair times to power grid stuff. Any of the above (power, phone, probably internet, etc) would be game over for life as we know it!

Interesting, thanks, Bob.

Came across the following - still studying. I've heard James Harris lecture before -- he seems very aware of ancient languages. Very interesting parallel between ancient Nahal language (circa 700 BC) and characters ("caractors" sp) transposed directly from the plates, and shown to Prof. Charles Anthon.

I've long been fascinated by this glimpse provided by the Anthon characters - and now this!

On another thread Dr. Jones made these two statements which caught my attention:

"It is the LORD who commands us to awaken to our awful situation, not man." (Ether 8: 23 ff), and
"I just wish I could do more personally to help people awaken, as I see our once great nation crumbling..."

Steve may have posted this statement to him from investigative journalist Christopher Bollyn elsewhere on the forum, but I think we all would do well to seriously reflect on it:

"As I told you when we met in Provo, the LDS Church has an advantage over other Christian churches in that it has the prophetic warnings of the 'secret combinations' and the Gadianton Robbers taking over the complete control of government. To my mind that makes the LDS Church the most relevant Christian church on the planet. It requires its followers to do something about 'Our Awful Situation' brought on by the Gadianton Robbers.

"As Ether 8:16 says: 'And they [secret combinations] were kept up by the power of the devil to administer these oaths unto the people, to keep them in darkness, to help such as sought power to gain power, and to murder, and to plunder, and to lie, and to commit all manner of whoredoms.'

"Monnett concludes the chapter on secreet combinations with this: 'Further, because the Lord will hold us accountable for upholding and suffering the secret combinations to exist, he will certainly reveal their acts, their purposes, and ways that we may be effective in combating their influence.'

"The Lord has given you the knowledge and wisdom to help reveal the 'secret combinations' behind 9/11 and Our Awful Situation."

Jack Monnett, in his "Book Two Awakening To Our Awful Situation" stated that "Christopher Bollyn wrote what every good Latter-day Saint should already know; that the Saints, via living prophets and Latter-day scriptures, have an edge in understanding national and world events. That "inside knowledge makes the LDS Church the "most relevant Christian church on the planet!"

I commend Dr. Jones and others who wish they could do more to help people awaken to our "awful situation" and see the extent to which our once great nation is crumbling. I think Dr. Jones has done a great service to those able to recognize the truth in what he has exposed thus far. And I also think that BYU may have in ignorance done a great service in bringing so much attention to Dr. Jones' work. Interesting that the Lord has a way of making good from bad.

Thank you, lundbaek - yes, the Lord can turn to good that which was intended to hurt or defame.

A while back, I encouraged Jack to run for Mayor of Spring City, UT. He did so -- and was elected Nov 2013. He now has a community-preparedness committee; approaching Zion perhaps in a small way, but very encouraging!

Next up (IMO) - freedom energy, this year. In the FE community we have observed numerous intriguing effects; now several avenues are blossoming as the rose.

Yesterday Lasersaber showed a significant advancement with the joule-ringer-type circuit we've been discussing (for a few years at least!):

http://www.youtube.com/attribution_link ... ploademail" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He notes:
Quote
"Testing energy recycling with the SJR circuit combined with an Akula type transformer"
So, perhaps the key to energy-recycling/self-running is in the Akula-type transformer -- as he notes, more work is needed.

A quick note --
The location of the park is where, on July 24, 1847, Brigham Young first saw the Salt Lake Valley that would soon become the Mormon pioneers' new home. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that Young had a vision shortly after they were exiled from Nauvoo, Illinois. In the vision, he saw the place where the Latter-day Saints would settle and "make the desert blossom like a rose" and where they would build their State of Deseret. As the account goes, Brigham Young was very sick with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and was riding in the back of a wagon. After exiting Emigration Canyon and cresting a small hill, he asked to look out of the wagon. Those with him opened the canvas cover and propped him up so he could see the empty desert valley below. He then proclaimed, "It is enough. This is the right place. Drive on." The words, "this is the place," were soon heard throughout the wagon train as the Mormon pioneers descended into the valley, their long journey having come to an end. The statement was first attributed to Young by Wilford Woodruff more than thirty years after the pioneer advent.[1]

Over the next several years, tens of thousands of Mormon pioneers emerged from Emigration Canyon and first saw their new home from this same location. A Utah state holiday, Pioneer Day, occurs each year on July 24 to commemorate the Mormon pioneers' entry into the valley.
I understand the suffering that can accompany RMSF - and appreciate that the Lord delivered B Young and me from it!
(Not that I would compare myself with BY, lol, just that we shared the disease. It was awful - so glad to be getting better!)

OK, I've added another video with TWO QUESTIONS awaiting answers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwp4M7b ... e=youtu.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From the caption:
Please provide your explanations for:

1. Two steel balls attracted by ferrite-magnets, I pull on the outer ball. Why does the inner ball go with the outer ball rather than staying with the magnet? (Isn't the magnetic field strongest at the face of the permanent magnet?)

2. What lights the LED? Researcher Russ Gries tests an Ed Leedskalnin device, two years AFTER an electric current flowed in his two coils. Notable experiment by Russ, pulling the "magnetically clampled" bar off the U and seeing an LED light brightly. Afterwards, there is no magnetic "sticking" of the bar to the U (not magnetized).
So -- what lights the LED?

PS -- good work, Russ! I'm not totally sure about your "magnetic current in both directions" explanation, but I really like the experiment and I'm trying to understand it.
This may seem somewhat esoteric -- science is that way when we don't understand fully. AT least I don't! And I've taught physics for many years, first with the Univ of Idaho, then at BYU for over 21 years.

I hope you enjoy the video. I got up real early and did it... To me, this is fun stuff!

More experiments with magnetic clamping!

Re: Magnetic coupling and Leedskalnin's PMH revisited

Progress, I added small ferrite magnets so as to achieve magnetic clamping at 46 uJ.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkHyb01 ... e=youtu.be" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From the video caption:

Quote
Continuation of magnetic clamping experiments. I've added three small ferrite magnets on either side of the I-core and two on the C-core above (about 1.5 cm separation), with fields enhanced in the direction supplied by a current in the 50-foot long speaker wire coil (bifilar wound as previously described).

The energy required to achieve magnetic clamping is greatly reduced. In this demonstration, I find first charge the 1000uF capacitor to approx. 0.33V, so the energy in the cap by 1/2 CV^2 = 54.5 uJ.

I discharge this energy through the coil by brushing the alligator clip on the + leg of the cap. Flyback current drives the cap to -0.13V, so some of the energy in the coil comes back into the cap, 1/2 CV^2 = 8.5 uJ. (Note, the voltage is squared so the energy stored is positive.)

Subtracting gives net energy supplied to cause the clamping, 54.5 -8.5 uJ = 46uJ, 46 micro-Joules!

Next, I apply the (approx) -0.13V back into the coil, but now the current flows in the opposite direction from the first time since the voltage is negative. This tiny negative voltage is sufficient to cause de-clamping of the keeper from the C-core.

I have repeated this experiment several times, with variations in the flyback-generated voltage of course.

A thread I thought was important was locked in the last 24 hours, but I want to retain a pointer to that thread. It has to do with the on-going "sifting" in the Church, which I believe was prophesied by Heber C. Kimball and other prophets. And I hope we recognize the sifting and help each other. It will likely become more difficult to discern the true prophets, (I'm thinking of Samuel the Lamanite and how many rejected him), but Jesus said, "By their fruits ye shall know them."

Here is that locked-thread:
