Re: NFL - Sign of the Times?

Playing the national anthem before games or any other entertainment event is stupid. It unnecessarily politicizes the event. And it makes ding dong hyper nationalists exact conformity out of other patrons. The practice ought to be scraped. No. Of course it ought to be. It's nonsense. A perfect tool...

Re: Wealth Must Be Created Before We Can Give It To the Poor

Selfishness, greed, covetousness is a two way street. In Great Basin Kingdom , Leonard Arrington relates the following: ...one early Mormon recalled: "In those days there was a tendency of feeling that each should share alike in everything, so much so that it was impossible for any man to do busines...

Re: Wealth Must Be Created Before We Can Give It To the Poor

Even the Lord recognized inherent inequality: "To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability." In Joseph Smith's time, after initial consecrations, "there was to be freedom of enterprise in production and in the management of properties held as steward...

Re: Denver Snuffer's Remnant scripture project and covenant

It always comes down to whose HG is better/bigger than the other guys HG. I know a Baptist woman who when baptized in the Baptist church, felt fire and the HG. She said she didn't feel anything when baptized in the LDS Church. What does it mean? Who knows. Anecdote vs anecdote. It's kinda weird to ...

Re: On humility

Don't be so sensitive marc. If you're going to have a topic "On __________", I would assume it would entail all facets. For example, wouldn't a topic, "On Faith", include all aspects of faith, including false faith?

So are there any keys to understanding true humility vs false humility?

Re: On humility

No. What I mean is our proclamation of our humility to others. "Wo is me" type stuff. Keep it in the closet. Was Jesus Christ humble? Did He flaunt His humility? Or is the author of this book humble or by writing about the subject declaring himself to be humble? Or do you think I see myself as bein...

I have a pet peeve against self-flagellating humility.
Do you consider the cup that Jesus drank in Gethsemane to the bitter dregs self flagellation?

We all have pet peeves / "stumbling stones of offense".

Re: Denver Snuffer's Remnant scripture project and covenant

Look how easily "spiritual wifery" crept in with John Doe. Look how much disagreement and contention and dissension occurred with the scripture committee and everything to do with that project, as well as the "covenant" proffered by Denver (many people disagreed about it). Look at how many people h...

Re: Wealth Must Be Created Before We Can Give It To the Poor

American capitalism has spurred great wealth yet it fumbles now because of the greed of those who have versus those who have not. Greed is inherent in humanity, not just "capitalism". And the great fumbling isn't capitalism per se, but greedy power seekers. Just because people choose greed, doesn't...

Re: Wealth Must Be Created Before We Can Give It To the Poor

The Creator of this earth, who came and lived amoungst His children, how did he live? For most of his life as a creator of material wealth for others providing carpentry services, which contributed no doubt to the ability to support himself. For the last three years a creator of spiritual wealth. I...
