Love Notes

I am writing just to tell you folks how much I appreciate you. I enjoy many of the posts. Not too fond of the bickering, but I am fond of many of the posters (including those on the other side of the restorationist/snuffer debate). Many of you have given me insight, and I appreciate you sharing your...

Re: In whose image are we created?

I think it simply means that God and people look like the same species, male and female. God is male and female. We know very little about the female part, though.

Okay, I'll quit teasing. Rachel added a letter. It stands for Strengthening the Members Committee. I see that it is officially called the other, but it is also unofficially called what you called it, also. At some point in time, it was also referred to as Strengthening the Saints Committee iirc. It sounds like you need to cut bait and find a less crazy group of people to be with. I assumed from your original post that you were comparing home teaching and PPIs to surveillance, but I don't think you are. Contact a moderator and they can lock the thread, which will cause it to slowly sink int...

Showers to the People

There's someone going around giving homeless people the opportunity to get free showers. How awesome and kind is that? http://www.showertothepeoplestl.org/ Our flagship program is a Mobile Shower Truck that provides hygiene services and hot showers to the local homeless population of St. Louis. Ever...

This meant the volunteer felt touch on their real hand but watched the brush move in mid-air, say, about 10 centimetres above the rubber hand.
Would they still feel it if they weren't watching it?

Re: Has the Church eased up on the restrictions regarding Temple marriages?

(I thought I had already posted the following) It looks like I may have had it backwards. 1985 handbook says Sealing after Civil Marriage a couple married outside the temple may not re-ceive [sic] a recommend to be sealed until at least one year after the civil marriage. The one-year waiting period ...

Re: Has the Church eased up on the restrictions regarding Temple marriages?

In searching, I came upon this that I found interesting, from the 1963 handbook. All temple recommends expired on July 31st of each year, apparently no matter when they were issued. Also: Where parents are not eligible to enter the temple, and yet insist on witnessing the wedding ceremony of their s...

I would like to point out here that we have no way of knowing: 1. If this young man has really done anything that would even require him to speak to the Bishop. I really doubt his mother would be in a position to know with certainty what is or is not going on between her son and this young woman. E...

What would Jesus do? Simple - let your son alone, let the spirit teach him in this, give him his agency and love him as God and the spirit do their loving perfect work with his child he loaned to you. Triple Amen to this. It is vital for him to learn through his own experiences. It is vital for him...

Re: Has the Church eased up on the restrictions regarding Temple marriages?

I cannot find it in the 2010 CHI, so it is apparently not a current practice. Like I said, I don't remember where I read it, but it was from a Church source. It is possible it was a practice from years ago. I wish I could find it so that I, at least, can know if I really got it from a bona fide sour...

At some point however you must let him find his own way in such matters as this. I would leave it be. This. This. ^ My question is, how do you know (without your son knowing you know) that he's done "basically... everything... except sex" and also that he hasn't worked this out already with the bis...

Re: Has the Church eased up on the restrictions regarding Temple marriages?

In Mexico it is similar to the UK: Government civil registry first, temple the next day. (or up to three days if necessary). So, since the rule is "no sexual relations except with your lawfully wedded spouse", if sex did occur after the wedding, but before the sealing, it would not be breaking any ...

Just to clarify, I am not stating my opinion here. I thought that maybe those who aren't familiar with reading in Spanish would want to know that the article from Mexico presents a different view than the article in English. The English one focuses on how the elders didn't have permission to do the...

What I was thinking. No missionary should ever feel pressure by his/her district/zone leader or MP to baptize a specified # of people in a given time frame! It is not about numbers, it is about planting seeds!!! Heck, they aren't even required to be missionaries... they are volunteering on their ow...
