Yes, its true. The "awakened" among the LDS faithful are...duped, and must be awakened:

Mormons and the Illuminati & Update: Mormons and the Illuminati (TOZ - The 'Other' Zionists)

In his revealing book, Out of Control, distributed privately among the elite of the Bilderbergers, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission and other groups, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Rockefeller operative and former National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter, declared that the New World Order cannot be built on a foundation of politics and economics alone.

http://www.powerofprophecy.com/012005/i ... infamy.htm

To truly establish ironclad global control over all peoples and nations, Brzezinski explained that the elite must also use the religious element.

Likewise, at his State of the World Forum in San Francisco, former Soviet President, Mikhail Gorbachev, advocated the setting up of a United Nations of Religions organization. Indeed, the establishment of just such an antichrist, global religious order was the goal of the hundreds of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, African Tribalist, and other religious leaders who met a few years ago in Chicago for the World's Parliament of Religions.

Since the end of World War II, the Illuminati have recognized that if their cherished aim of total dictatorial lordship over mankind is to be realized, the spiritual need in man must be channeled and directed. It is not enough to control a man's body and to micro-manage his social and economic environments. Nor is it sufficient to be able to brainwash and hypnotize men's minds. The very souls of men must be molded like some type of psychic clay.

Astonishingly, the Holy Bible prophesied this very thing: That, in the last day, Satan's wicked empire, Mystery, Babylon the Great, would carry on trade and commerce across the globe. All manner of merchandise will be traded and sold, including the "souls of men!" (Revelation 18:13)

Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Advisor and Trilateral Commision insider, advised his Illuminati superiors that the New World Order can be established only be employing religion as a key weapon of global influence

C. I. Scofield, the corrupt lawyer whose "Scofield Bible" became an international "Christian classic," was paid handsomely by wealthy New York Jews for his service to the Illuminati. Thanks to the Scofield Bible, generations of Christians have been trained up and indoctrinated as unholy Judaizers and Zionists.

Joseph Smith, founder of the 15 million member strong Mormon religion, patterned his new religion on the rituals and symbols of Zionist Freemasonry.

Yes, my children, trust no one, suspect everyone:

To capture and manipulate the souls of men, the satanic agents have actually bought and sold Christian pretenders-religious puppets-whom they have installed as leaders of scores of ministries, mega-churches, seminaries, Bible colleges and other religious organizations and institutions.

The Illuminati overseers have raised up and trained their loyal religious disciples to pretend to be Christians and even to feign an intense love of Christ. These false ministers and lying prophets are con artists persuasively speaking to audiences in what appears to be sincere and biblical lingo, all the better to deceive, if it were possible, even the very elect (Matthew 24:24). While they come as angels of light and ministers of righteousness, inside, these deceitful servants of evil are ravenous wolves.

All these strange, revealing logos have Illuminati links. They demonstrate the amazing extent to which the secret societies have infiltrated and now virtually control the entire Christian Establishment.

Illuminati minions of Satan have founded many of the world's largest and best known ministries and groups. The wealthy elite have given their religious puppets the funding and the means to crank up many new religious groups and get them going. In fact, entire new denominations and religions have been founded and are today huge in size, thanks to covert Illuminati assistance.

It is well known that wealthy Illuminati chieftains Henry Luce (Order of Skull & Bones patriarch and head of the Time Life empire) and William Randolph Hearst (Hearst newspapers) puffed up and made evangelist Billy Graham a "star." Knights of Malta magnate, J. Peter Grace (W.R. Grace and Co. Chemicals) and his cronies, such as Ted Turner (CNN), were the prime movers behind Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network apparatus. Other Illuminati helped set up the Crouches and their Trinity Broadcasting Network.

The Rockefellers and the heirs to the Firestone and other fortunes funded Alcoholics Anonymous. An Orthodox Jewish billionaire from Canada and the corrupt but fabulously wealthy Riady family from Indonesia secretly funded both televangelist Morris Cerullo's TV broadcast and Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's PTL Network. The Rockefellers also ponied up millions for the work of the apostate Jesus Seminar scholars and the heretical World Council of Churches organization.

The Vatican's secret societies also were instrumental in furthering the charismatic movement. Rick Joyner, one of the popular charismatic "Kansas City Prophets," was even initiated into the Vatican's mysteriously evil order, the Knights of Malta. Meanwhile, CIA operative Reverend Sun Myung Moon has spread millions of bucks among his favorite evangelical Christian stooges, ranging from Tim and Bev La Haye (Left Behind) to the Crystal Cathedral's positive-thinking guru Dr. Robert Schuller and Christian pop singer Pat Boone. Schuller also was rewarded with big bucks by his Illuminati pal, the late Communist-puppet oilman, Armand Hammer (Occidental Oil Corp). Meanwhile, James Dobson's Focus on the Family moved into a luxurious new Colorado facility a few years ago, paid for by a curiously secret Roman Catholic foundation. All this and more I explain and document in my explosive new video and DVD Tower of Infamy.

But what would any of this be without those darned Jews...

Zionist sources tied to the Illuminati richly rewarded puppet Jerry Falwell with the gift of a multimillion dollar executive jet and set up crooked lawyer C.I. Scofield as a "Bible scholar," a hoax of the century if there ever was one! Zionist Masons also helped organize the heretical Jehovah's Witnesses religion. Mormonism's founder Joseph Smith also organized that false religion on the basis of Freemasonry's rituals and symbols.

In sum, the Christian establishment is not Christian at all. It and its leaders are bought and paid for by the Illuminati. It is an integral and inseparable part of the worldwide Luciferian network of evil: The Tower of Infamy. Now, do you understand why today we have hundreds of new false New Age Bible versions? Can you see why heresies and atrocities abound and proliferate within the so-called Christian world?

The entire Christian world, Protestant, Catholic, LDS, everything, is part of "the conspiracy." The net casts wide. Next is a concise rundown of the standard idea:

Some claim that this particular secret combination is the Illuminati—a secret society founded on 1776 May 01 in Bavaria by Professor Adam Weishaupt using elements of various other secret societies of his era. Although it is now commonly accepted that European police destroyed this society after its exposure in 1784, declassified police records contradict this view and indicate that this society survived into (at least) the first quarter of the nineteenth century. Some folks today associate individuals like David Rockefeller Sr. and Henry Kissinger with the Illuminati, plus organizations like the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bilderberg Group and the Trilateral Commission; and they also believe that the Illuminati are cooperating to establish a "new world order" (or "NWO") that is essentially global socialism (see below) dictated by an elitist world government. Some powerful and/or influential people, whether they are conspiring with each other or not, have clearly been working to establish both global and continental governments to unite our world's nations. In any case, people have written much fact and fiction, all mingled together with plenty of speculation, on such conspiracies, making it challenging for conspiracy investigators to distinguish truth from falsehood about them.

One more... Although the public split occurred between Mormonism and Masonry before the Mormons went to Utah, that was only for public consumption. The leadership have coordinated activities. The Mormon religion is really a high rite of Freemasonry, and this explains why when the Mormons went to Utah, the Mormons held Masonic schools. (Hosea Stout mentions these Mormon Masonic schools in On The Mormon Frontier; The Diary of Hosea Stout, ed. by Juanita Brooks, 2 vols., Salt Lake City: Univ. of Utah Press, 1964, 2: 415, 423.)

One wonders if it is coincidence that the Merovingian's primary symbol, the bee is also the symbol for the Mormon church and Utah. Look at a Deseret Industries (Mormon thrift stores) building in your area and you will see the bee on their side. But not only does Brigham Young have Merovingian blood from at least two lines of blood (and possibly as many as 6 lines of blood back), but he also is related to the Collins (Illuminati family of Massachusetts) Further, Brigham Young is also a blood relative of the Wheelers. If Young's Wheeler relatives are related to the Satanic Illuminati Wheelers, then we have an example of how 3 strains of top Satanic blood have interwoven and resulted in the birth of the Freemason, Witch, and President of the LDS Brigham Young.

After going to Utah, Brigham Young contacted the chiefs of Freemasonry in England and proposed that Mormonism be granted a public charter to become its own Masonic Rite. The hierarchy told him no.

The Freeman Bloodline "Yes, Mason's, it is said, were among the mob that murdered Joseph and Hyrum Smith in Carthage Jail. Joseph, leaping the fatal window, gave the Masonic signal of distress. The answer was the roar of his murder's muskets and the deadly balls that pierced his heart". (Mormon Elder Heber C. Kimball, a former Mason, quoted by Orson F. Whitney, Life of Heber C. Kimbal, p. 26) (Fritz Springmeier, The Illuminati Bloodlines)

Had enough? I didn't think so:

http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum ... 809865/pg1

You see, there are other messege boards out there populated by non-members of the Church - evengelical Christians, to be precise - who think very much along the same lines as people in this forum think, with the exception that the LDS church is not excluded from the Satanic darkness. Its exactly the same thinking, but from a non-LDS perspective and with the Church, unlike here, caught in the swirling conspiratorial whirlpool:

Illuminati Manipulates Presidential Election Towards Romney Obama
January 25, 2012
By J. Michael Warner
Illuminati Manipulates 2012 Presidential Election
The New World Order Elites, the minions of the Illuminati, have been manipulating the 2012 President elections towards an Obama/Romney race. Why exactly the Illuminati want to have President Obama and former governor Mitt Romney face off against each other is something of a mystery to me. The only reason I can think of is that either one will do pretty much the same job as the other, which is the bidding of their Illuminati masters.

Pelosi Threatens Gingrich from The Drudge Report

The latest person to surge in the Republican Primaries is Newt Gingrich an Illuminati New World Order elite that has basically destroyed his own political career. Mitt Romney has nothing to fear from Newt Gingrich as he is an unacceptable candidate to most conservative voters. The Illuminati controlled media merely props up Newt Gingrich as a possible alternative to Mitt Romney.

If you think about it, all we have heard from the presstitutes in the main stream media for the last couple of years is “Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee”. A lot of effort has gone into manipulating Republican voters into believing that Mitt Romney is the best choice for President. The biggest hurdle in this manipulation is not even what most people will think. Most think that since Obamacare was a Mitt Romney design for state run health care, that is the primary hurdle in making Mitt Romney President. That is actually a distraction and a minor hurdle. The real elephant in the room is the fact that Mitt Romney is a Mormon. This is actually a bigger hurdle for most main stream Christian voters than it was for John F. Kennedy who was a Catholic. Christians did not question the faith of Catholicism, the big worry Christian voters had in giving their vote to John F. Kennedy was in the question as to where Kennedy’s loyalties would lie. Would Kennedy be loyal to the Catholic Church or the U.S. Constitution. The problem main stream Christians have with Mitt Romney is that they have been taught that the Mormon religion is a cult.

Glenn Beck Illuminati Pawn Makes Mormons Acceptable To Christians

10 years ago Glenn Beck was a comedian talk show host who also happened to have just converted to the Mormon religion. Initially the only time Glenn Beck talked about politics was if some major event was going on or a major election cycle was in progress. The main gist of the Glenn Beck act back then was to make fun of and ridicule everything from foreigners to the handicapped. Not very tasteful, very juvenile. In 2006 as Glenn Beck went through a transformation becoming more political, he was given a TV show at CNN. The Glenn Beck shows on radio and TV took Beck through a transformation from comedian to conservative political pundit. In 2008 Beck announced that he was moving his act to the Fox News Channel. This was supposed to be more in alignment with his political leanings.

I believe that this period of Glenn Becks life, from 2006-2010 was manipulated by the Illuminati in order to get American Republicans to become comfortable with a famous political Mormon. The Illuminati made Glenn Beck famous in order to make their man, Mitt Romney an acceptable Presidential candidate. After four years of watching Glenn Beck crying, talking about Jesus and politics, the Illuminati believed that they had conditioned enough conservative Christians into thinking a Mormon was just like them and acceptable in political leadership positions like the President.

As for Glenn Beck himself, I believe that he became uncontrollable and that is why he lost his show at Fox News. To much connecting the dots on the conspiracy theory shows. The Illuminati can manipulate events and people, but in the case of an Illuminati operative like Beck, in which the operative does not understand they are being manipulated, the operative can end up going in direction that the leaders of the conspiracy do not want. In Becks case this meant the Illuminati had to remove him from TV. Until or unless the Illuminati decide that Mitt Romney and the Mormon Church are no longer of use, they can not entirely get rid of Glenn Beck. If they remove Glenn Beck entirely from the limelight and disgrace him, they will destroy their work in making Mormons acceptable. Look for Beck to become less useful and to disappear from public activities over the next 4 years.

Mitt Romney Acceptable Mormon Illuminati Power Player

A lot of work has gone into putting Mitt Romney at the top of the Republican ticket for 2012. It looks like the Illuminati have special plans for Romney. Hard to tell just yet if they are finished with Barack Obama or if they are merely hedging their bets and insuring that whomever the American people vote for, an Illuminati controlled politician will assume the Presidency.

http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum ... 831614/pg1

The LDS portion of this video starts at about 6:06. Take note, that the Mormon Church is here understood as a major branch of "Mystery Babylon," or, in our own understanding, The Great and Abominable Church of the Devil. We are the Gadianton Robbers, and the same conspiracy theories used in this forum as a foil against the Church and its faithful members, is in other places used to place the Church within "the conspiracy" and as the enemy of humanity, along with the Illuminati, Masonry, Israel, and all the other boogeymen.

We are a part of the "secret kingdom," and we LDS and our church wield "more economic power" more effectively than even the the focus of most evil in the world, Israel. Its really quite interesting that, depending upon the core perspective and bias of the conspiracy theorist, who's actually a part of and who's not a part of "the conspiracy" quickly becomes extremely difficult to determine. Lines are indistinct and no clear rules for determining who is and who isn't within Satan's grasp seem to exist.

Its all here: one world government, world domination, Satanic plotting in smoke (and root beer) filled rooms, the CIA (to which the Church has "close ties," don't you know) and The Mormon Church as a "branch of the Illuminati."

Is anyone here awakened yet?

The paranoia continues to fester:

http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum ... 754214/pg1

I then took a higher paying Manager's job in Utah, thinking that, maybe things would get better if I settled my family among real Mormons. Little did I know that the Illuminati were just as firmly entrenched among the Mormons there as they were anywhere else. I lived in Catholic communities, and they were there. I lived in Protestant communities, and they were there. I have lived in Mormon communities and they were there. I soon realized that I was at war with an organization that was more highly skilled than anything I had ever imagined. Both national and international in scope.

But even all the above is just warming up:

Mormons – Freemasonry Illuminati Taking Over

LDS Church President commented years ago that the Illuminati had inviltrated the church, even to the very highest levels of the Church. The Illuminati has promised that they would infiltrate every organization.

Organized Evil is taking over America. Every Religious Organization has been infiltrated by the Illuminati and Jesuit Priests. Satanic Worship ceremonies are now performed in Bohemian Groves all over Utah and all over America. Harold B Lee was assasinated while trying to stop the Rothschild Thugs from controlling the Mormon Church.

Our own Church and its Presidents were compromised long ago:

Heber J Grant made a deal with the Rothschild family back in 1916 and 1917 that subjegated the Mormon Church to the Chase Bank. When Harold B Lee became the President of the Church he tried to put a stop to this church enslavement to the Rothschild people and they assasinated him. When Mormon Church members pay their tithing, it all goes through the Chase Manhattan Bank first and then back to the Church.

Even Ezra Taft Benson, who LDS conspiracists have made into an icon for their particular beliefs, was not what they think he was:

Ezra Taft Bensen used to be outspoken about the evil that had taken over America and the LDS Church. Illuminati Thugs wrapped the head of Bensen with pillows and then pounded his head with a hammer until Presidtnt Bensen decided to quiet down his opposition to the satanic illuminati/Jesuit Priests that had taken over the Mormon Church.

Enough? No, not even getting started:

Glenn Pace wrote a private memo once that described that satanic worship was going on in many of the congregations in the Church. This memo was never designed to go public.

In Utah about 1 out of every 3 people are victims to satanic worship ceremonies that go on all over Utah.

A few people claim that Church President Thomas Monson has been seen at these satanic, torture, human sacrifice worship ceremonies.

And, from the master of intellectual disaster himself:

http://www.texemarrs.com/012010/mysteries_of_temple.htm

(This essay is fascinating in its own right, but the Church is thrown into the general stew with the Rothchilds, Illuminati, Jews, Israel, Masons, everybody).

Enjoy.

Again, you are dismissing all conspiracy theories because some are not true.

It is important that we do our own research and be informed.

Also we need to subscribe to correct principles.

If we are true to the gospel, the Constitution and freedom we can't be deceived. It is when we trust in the arm of flesh that we get into trouble.

This doesn't change my mind about secret combinations at all. I know that they exist because the scriptures tell me so. I don't know how organized they are. I know they fight among themselves. It is not all orchestrated perfectly, but I know that they do exist.

There is a march to global government. You see the results of that all around us with the European Union being formed and with the SPP being worked on. The New World Order does exist. Leaders are working for a global currency. I can see the results of their work all around me.

They are being pretty successful I would say because they have duped quite a few people.

Exactly, thank you for addressing this Loran. We all agree on the "conspiracy fact" quoted by Ezra Taft Benson, but the continually "looking beyond the mark" has contributed to a rather bizarre conspiracy theory for seemingly every little thing. Once we're off balance and result to inserting radical ideology with scripture then we turn to conspiracy mongers and even question the legitimacy of modern day prophets, seers, and revelators. It's common tale which has been played over time and time again, and many LDS have been deceived and are currently contributing to this awful plague. (Jacob 4:13-14, Ephesians 4:14)

Loran, the following doctrine from Dallin H. Oaks supports this subject perfectly...

Gospel Hobbies
My first example concerns Satan’s efforts to corrupt a person who has an unusual commitment to one particular doctrine or commandment of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This could be an unusual talent for family history work, an extraordinary commitment to constitutional government, a special talent in the acquisition of knowledge, or any other special talent or commitment.
Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve has likened the fulness of the gospel to a piano keyboard. He has told us that a person could be “attracted by a single key,” such as a doctrine he or she wants to hear “played over and over again. … Some members of the Church who should know better pick out a hobby key or two and tap them incessantly, to the irritation of those around them. They can dull their own spiritual sensitivities. They lose track that there is a fulness of the gospel … [which they reject] in preference to a favorite note. This becomes exaggerated and distorted, leading them away into apostasy” (Ensign, December 1971, pages 41–42).
We could say of such persons, as the Lord said of the Shakers in a revelation given in 1831, “They desire to know the truth in part, but not all” (D&C 49:2). Beware of a hobby key. If you tap one key to the exclusion or serious detriment of the full harmony of the gospel keyboard, Satan can use your strength to bring you down.
The Lord warned the first generation of Latter-day Saints to “beware concerning yourselves” (D&C 84:43). I seek to remind each of us of the mortal susceptibilities and devilish diversions that can unite to produce our spiritual downfall.
Lehi taught that “it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, … righteousness could not be brought to pass” (2 Ne. 2:11). In the realm of spiritual progress, that opposition is often provided by the temptations of Satan. We learn in modern revelation that “it must needs be that the devil should tempt the children of men, or they could not be agents unto themselves” (D&C 29:39).
Elder Marion G. Romney of the Quorum of the Twelve taught: “Latter-day Saints know that there is a God. With like certainty, they know that Satan lives, that he is a powerful personage of spirit, the archenemy of God, of man, and of righteousness” (Ensign, June 1971, page 35). President Joseph F. Smith described one of Satan’s methods: “Satan is a skillful imitator, and as genuine gospel truth is given the world in ever-increasing abundance, so he spreads the counterfeit coin of false doctrine” (ibid., page 36).
Satan uses every possible device to degrade and enslave every soul. He attempts to distort and corrupt everything created for the good of man, sometimes by diluting that which is good, sometimes by camouflaging that which is evil. We generally think of Satan attacking us at our weakest spot. Elder Spencer W. Kimball of the Quorum of the Twelve described this technique when he said: “Lucifer and his followers know the habits, weaknesses, and vulnerable spots of everyone and take advantage of them to lead us to spiritual destruction” (The Miracle of Forgiveness, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1969, pages 218–19).
Like the fabled Achilles, who was immune to every lethal blow except to his heel, many of us have a special weakness that can be exploited to our spiritual downfall. For some, that weakness may be a taste for liquor, an unusual vulnerability to sexual temptation, or a susceptibility to compulsive gambling or reckless speculation. For others, it may be a craving for money or power. If we are wise, we will know our weaknesses, our spiritual Achilles’ heels, and fortify ourselves against temptations in those areas.
But weakness is not our only vulnerability. Satan can also attack us where we think we are strong—in the very areas where we are proud of our strengths. He will approach us through the greatest talents and spiritual gifts we possess. If we are not wary, Satan can cause our spiritual downfall by corrupting us through our strengths as well as by exploiting our weaknesses. I will illustrate this truth with several examples.

Not Really Following the Prophet
A desire to follow a prophet is surely a great and appropriate strength, but even this has its potentially dangerous manifestations. I have heard of more than one group so intent on following the words of a dead prophet that they have rejected the teachings and counsel of the living ones. Satan has used that corruption from the beginning of the Restoration. You will recall Joseph Smith’s direction for the Saints to gather in Kirtland, Ohio, then in Missouri, and then in Illinois. At each place along the way, a certain number of Saints fell away, crying “fallen prophet” as their excuse for adhering to the earlier words and rejecting the current direction. The same thing happened after the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith, when some Saints seized upon one statement or another by the deceased Prophet as a basis for sponsoring or joining a new group that rejected the counsel of the living prophets.
Following the prophet is a great strength, but it needs to be consistent and current, lest it lead to the spiritual downfall that comes from rejecting continuous revelation. Under that principle, the most important difference between dead prophets and living ones is that those who are dead are not here to receive and declare the Lord’s latest words to his people. If they were, there would be no differences among the messages of the prophets.
A related distortion is seen in the practice of those who select a few sentences from the teachings of a prophet and use them to support their political agenda or other personal purposes. In doing so, they typically ignore the contrary implications of other prophetic words, or even the clear example of the prophet’s own actions. For example, I have corresponded with several Church members who sought to use something President Ezra Taft Benson was quoted as saying as a basis for refusing to file an income tax return or to pay income taxes.
I have tried to persuade these persons that their interpretation cannot be what President Benson intended, because all who have held that sacred office, as well as all of the other General Authorities, have faithfully filed their income tax returns and paid the taxes required by law. The servants of God are under the Master’s commands to follow him and to be examples to the flock (see 1 Tim. 4:12; 1 Pet. 5:3). We should interpret their words in the light of their works. To wrest the words of a prophet to support a private agenda, political or financial or otherwise, is to try to manipulate the prophet, not to follow him.

All-Consuming Patriotism
Love of country is surely a strength, but carried to excess it can become the cause of spiritual downfall. There are some citizens whose patriotism is so intense and so all-consuming that it seems to override every other responsibility, including family and Church. I caution those patriots who are participating in or provisioning private armies and making private preparations for armed conflict. Their excessive zeal for one aspect of patriotism is causing them to risk spiritual downfall as they withdraw from the society of the Church and from the governance of those civil authorities to whom our 12th article of faith [A of F 1:12] makes all of us subject.

Popular Teachers and the Potential of Priestcraft
Another illustration of a strength that can become our downfall concerns charismatic teachers. With a trained mind and a skillful manner of presentation, teachers can become unusually popular and effective in teaching. But Satan will try to use that strength to corrupt teachers by encouraging them to gather a following of disciples. A Church teacher, Church Educational System instructor, or Latter-day Saint university professor who gathers such a following and does this “for the sake of riches and honor” (Alma 1:16) is guilty of priestcraft. “Priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion” (2 Ne. 26:29).

A Desire to Know All
Another strength Satan can exploit is a strong desire to understand everything about every principle of the gospel. How could that possibly work to our detriment? Experience teaches that if this desire is not disciplined, it can cause some to pursue their searchings beyond the fringes of orthodoxy, seeking answers to obscure mysteries rather than seeking a firmer understanding and a better practice of the basic principles of the gospel.
Some seek answers to questions God has not chosen to answer. Others receive answers—or think they receive answers—in ways that are contrary to the order of the Church. For such searchers, Satan stands ready to mislead through sophistry or spurious revelation. Persons who hunger after a full understanding of all things must discipline their questions and their methods, or they can approach apostasy without even knowing it. It may be just as dangerous to exceed orthodoxy as it is to fall short of it. The safety and happiness we are promised lie in keeping the commandments, not in discounting or multiplying them.

Misapplication of Love and Tolerance
Other strengths that can be used for our downfall are the gifts of love and tolerance. Clearly, these are great virtues. Love is an ultimate quality, and tolerance is its handmaiden. Love and tolerance are pluralistic qualities—encompassing all—and that is their strength, but it is also the source of their potential distortion. Love and tolerance are incomplete unless they are accompanied by a concern for truth and a commitment to the unity that God has commanded of his servants.
Carried to an undisciplined excess, love and tolerance can produce indifference to truth and justice and opposition to unity. What makes mankind free from death and sin is not merely love but love accompanied by truth. “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). And the test of whether we are the Lord’s is not just love and tolerance but unity. The risen Lord said, “If ye are not one ye are not mine” (D&C 38:27). To follow the Lord’s example of love, we must remember his explanation that “whom I love I also chasten” (D&C 95:1). And we must remember that he chastens us “that [we] might be one” (D&C 61:8).

It's a good thing we as Latter Day Saints have the spirit of discernment available to us. What an important thing to have that these religious bigots and atheists do not. Hmm.. where would a Latter Day Saint start if he/she wanted to know about the secret combinations that Moroni told us to awaken to? Hmmm.... maybe a book recommended by President Ezra Taft Benson called None Dare Call it Conspiracy. OH NO I DIDN'T!!! OHHH SNAAAP. :-o :-o

Yes, it's a good thing we can access the 'Spirit of discernment' and use the scriptures for our guide, for it seems that Pres. Benson and Elder Oaks don't seem to be saying the same things.

Or maybe the Founding Fathers just got a little too zealous in their Gospel hobbies and didn't understand the 12th Article of Faith.

I actually agree with your statements! Though, like I said, the spirit of discernment is key when we study out the best books available to us for temporal knowledge. Another key may be that when a conspiracy theory goes beyond the parameters of the restored doctrines of the gospel as revealed to us, we can immediately dismiss it. For example: Shape shifting lizard people from planet X. Hence, the reason I assert that a wonderful book to look to understanding secret combinations would be None Dare Call it Conspiracy. Also, The Naked Capitalist and The Naked Communist by Skousen. Spoiler alert: They don't mention anything about Shape shifting lizard people from planet X.

Moonwhim in Red

from President Oak's talk Gospel Hobbies from Kingbmm post above

A related distortion is seen in the practice of those who select a few sentences from the teachings of a prophet and use them to support their political agenda or other personal purposes. In doing so, they typically ignore the contrary implications of other prophetic words, or even the clear example of the prophet’s own actions. For example, I have corresponded with several Church members who sought to use something President Ezra Taft Benson was quoted as saying as a basis for refusing to file an income tax return or to pay income taxes. I don't hear anyone on this forum advocating that.

I don't see any of us on this forum doing or advocating that.

All-Consuming Patriotism
Love of country is surely a strength, but carried to excess it can become the cause of spiritual downfall. There are some citizens whose patriotism is so intense and so all-consuming that it seems to override every other responsibility, including family and Church. I agree and I don't find any on this forum advocating that.

And I don't know of anyone on this forum who advocates that.

So what gospel hobby are you implying that we are guilty of according to Bro Oaks talk?

Bogus as spelled out by the lies or idiocy about Glenn Beck. As someone who listened to Glenn Beck way back in 2002, before he was famous, making only 50k a year. I can tell you he didn't just go through a transformation in 2006, his show was 80% political republican base.

If that article is willing to lie about one thing, why not lie about everthing?

Yes, Oak's talk is an excellent overview of the problems we can encounter in compromising our understanding and living of the gospel when faced with deeply internalized biases and beliefs. Lao Tzu said it, in a general, overall way, as good as it has probably ever been expressed:

"...The sage avoids extremes, excesses, and complacency."

kingbmm wrote:Loran, the following doctrine from Dallin H.
