Grassfire Nation Update

On December 20, President Obama will use the FCC to seize control of the Internet. If successful, the move could have a devastating impact on the U.S. economy, investments and innovation while squelching your freedom of speech!

The Issue

Undaunted after a stunning loss of control in Congress, liberals are poised to steal the Internet after a new series of Federal Communication Commission rules are introduced on December 20, and likely approved the following day.

Threatened by the Tea Party successes, and determined to continue finding ways to advance their statist agenda, President Obama and his liberal cohorts are attempting to seize the Internet – the greatest mechanism of growth in our history (under the guise of promoting “freedom” for all), and if successful, they will be one step closer to controlling the unfettered access to news and information that we read.

President Obama and Elitist liberals want to seize control of the Internet and they don’t want you, or your elected officials to have a say about it!

Knowing they don’t have the votes in Congress, liberals are instead relying on the Federal Communications Commission to seize control of the Internet through what is called “Net Neutrality” — a series of rules that would empower the federal government to regulate the Internet in the name of “freedom”.

Yeah, that was brilliant of SoS Clinton praising the use of the internet in the M.E. and North Africa to overthrow the governments, and talking up freedom of the internet, etc.--while trying at the same time to get the kill button in place here...
Pure propaganda.
They'll do their best to kill it here.

The Issue
President Obama and his liberal cohorts are set to takeover the Internet beginning November 20, adding yet another troubling chapter to his illegal assault on Free Speech in America.

On November 10, the democrat-controlled Senate voted 46-52 to retain the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) power grab through strict Net Neutrality regulations set to illegally impose strict, job-killing restrictions on the Internet beginning on November 20, 2011. Through this move, the Obama administration has also muzzled the greatest mechanism of growth in our history (under the guise of promoting "freedom" for all), and taken one giant step closer to controlling the unfettered access to news and information that we read.

Many believe the move was fueled, in part to Tea Party successes, and a growing fear among liberals that conservatives needed to be silenced.

The Action
This unconstitutional power grab must be opposed. Grassfire Nation is calling on grassroots Americans mobilizing at least 200,000 citizen petitions opposing this last assault on our freedom through Net Neutrality regulations.

Has anyone else checked the validity of this issue? Any ideas, suggestions or solutions to this problem? If the internet is taken over by government, we will no longer be able to expose the horrific dealings our government is thrusting upon us...Obama being the worst. Sometimes the website listed below is difficult to access, but keep trying.

However, here are some things of interest.
OBAMA EXPOSED
Page 4 Grassire Nation
We have chosen to focus on what has taken place
and what is likely to take place in the near future.
During the election and Obama’s first days in office,
conservatives were wondering if anything or anyone
could stop his progressive agenda. We knew we
could not count on resistance from the Democratic
controlled Congress or the liberal, Obama-loving
media. The business establishment that had been
rocked by real estate busts, bankruptcies and stock
market crashes were already lining up for their
Obama handouts. With unions and our education
system already firmly in Obama’s back pocket, there
seemed little hope, little resistance.
From the electoral ashes arose one final barrier to the
full implementation of Obama’s agenda — millions
of grassroots Americans who cherish their oft-trampled
and forgotten liberties. Outraged by the rapid
statist takeover of our economy and inspired by a
TV host’s call for a new “tea party,” a fresh, spontaneous
and invigorating movement was birthed.
From coast-to-coast we energetically and peacefully
began mounting a patriotic, resilient and conservative
resistance to stop Obama’s transformation of
our nation.
But our work is far from over, in large part because
Obama’s work has really just begun. The statist
makeover of American society continues full-speed
ahead.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality

If your Internet Service Provider is the Post Office and your Internet traffic going to and from your house were boxes. Net Neutrality basically mandates the boxes have to be sealed all the way from your computer to the server you are accessing and back again. It stipulates no restrictions on packet information (what's inside the boxes) and platforms using the network (say, the color of the box).

The opposite of this is "deep packet inspection" where an ISP can open your box, look at what's inside and record it, then seal it back up and send it away.

Which one is freedom?

I can think of nothing to do about this a this point other that advise our congressmen of my concern that the President may institute censorship of the internet and ask that they be alert to the possibility and do what they can to prevent it. Any other suggestions ? Most Americans will not know of it until it happens and take it sitting down.

This is a shock, inasmuch as BYU--only three months ago--dedicated a 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Broadcasting Building and a new Information Technology Building. According to the Daily Herald (Aug. 13, 2011), the Broadcasting Building "features TV production studios, audio and video editing space, production control rooms, master control area, performance studios, radio on-air studios, as well as a variety of offices. . . ." President Henry B. Eyring, who dedicated the facilities, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to reach the hearts and minds of people across the globe."

All of which is to say to freedomfighter (and others), don't believe everything you read/see on conspiracy, fear-mongering media. Believe, instead, in the inspired wisdom of those who lead the LDS Church.

You're right LB

Here we go again. Some people can't see the bigger picture. Aren't these bad...paying for internet service, no restrictions of content, every ISP provider having to use the same Broadband width and people who only use the internet for email usage having to pay a high price for it? There may be more I can't cite here because I would need to find a list of all of them.
