Here is a few recent studies if you care.
Chiropractic for Chronic LBP: Maintenance Care Better Than Short-Term Therapy

By Editorial Staff

Third-party payers, medical-model providers and other health care stakeholders who question the value of maintenance care, particularly for low back pain, should consider findings from a new study published in Spine, which asks (and then answers) the question, "Does Maintained Spinal Manipulation Therapy for Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain Result in Better Long-Term Outcome?"

The study suggests patients with low back pain of at least six months duration experience greater improvement following one month (12 treatments) of spinal manipulative therapy followed by "maintenance spinal manipulation" every two weeks for nine months than subjects who receive one month of SMT only (12 treatments) or 12 treatments of sham SMT for one month. Patients in the manipulation and manipulation-plus-maintenance groups improved with respect to pain and disability after one month compared to the sham group, but after 10 months, only the group receiving maintenance care reported significant improvement, whereas the one-month-only group's pain and disability scores had returned "near to their pretreatment level."

Chiropractic Adjustments are as good as surgery for sciatica, but only cost 1/10th as much.

I just think it's a shame that there has to be such a division when it comes to medicine. It would be nice if more chiropractors worked in concert with physical therapists - muscle work and spinal work together. It would be nice if more traditional doctors were familiar with natural remedies. Oh well.

I'm sorry if I seemed like I was piddling on your profession. You sound like a responsible person who wouldn't sell anyone an overpriced foot soak to cure all their ailments. I admit I have prejudices when it comes to chiropractic care because of the strange ducks I've encountered. It's not fair of me. If I ever do use one, I will come back and give some feedback here.

For the record, my initial visit to a doctor did include a recommendation of a chiropractor as an option. They have reported happy customers from that office.

ChelC, I know you are a fair and good person from reading your posts. It is as I said a sad thing that as DC's we have not taught well enough to convince a fair minded person like yourself that we are of value. I'm glad your feeling better.

There is quite a history of why we don't get along better. If you ever wanted to know more, I would share. There is however some thawing of the ice as you expressed. But it is details, bottom line, we must teach better. I appreciate this thread, even its negative overtones, because it persuaded me that I must not make assumptions. I need to teach better. Thanks for the lesson.

You are so right Chelc! One problem is the Doctors, Physical therapists, and chiropractors only specialize in one thing.
It would be nice if more traditional doctors were familiar with natural remedies.
We need more balance doctors who know a variety of things. We are told we need to have a balanced lifestyle. Well the truth is we need more balanced doctors. We need people who know best of all medicines and natural remedies. Not just specialize in one but know the best of all worlds.

I use to have chronic back pain as well as a torn rotator cuff. I refused to have surgery. The Doc said it would be the only thing that would fix it. He was wrong. For almost 8 years if hurt to put my shirt on. My brother goes to a chiropractor once every 3 weeks. He loves it. I don't however. The first time i went to one i felt like i had been in an accident with a diesel truck. I couldn't move for over a week. A year or so later my brother convinced me to try it one more time because it works for him so well, this time I couldn't move for two weeks. I will never go back. It is just not for me. But it is for my brother. We are all different! What works for one person might not work for another.

I am a big boy. 6'2 240 lbs. All i use to do is lift heavy weights. I tried to lift as much as possible to be as strong as possible. My diet was horrible, consisted mainly protein. I finally decided to change my approach. I had my blood check. I started eating a balanced diet, taking my vitamins. (vitamin F & D. Yes there is such a thing as Vitamin F) I took quite a bit of other stuff. If interested i will list. I changed my workouts from heavy lifting to a more balanced workout, allot more cardio and plyometrics workouts. Instead of weight training i do circuit training. My cousin is a masseuse therapist and gives the best massages. Its affordable for me because I get the family rate. :ymsmug: I get one every other week. Anyway, I lost about 20 lbs(was 260 now 240) and I don't have chronic back & shoulder pain anymore. My arthritis does flairs up when a coming storm approaches. But Its a miracle. I use to be a sprinter but now i can run a marathon. Every person is different but for me it was a little bit of everything, but balance is the key for me. Not just physical, but every part of my life. What I read, how I spend my time. My diet now consist of the do and don't of the word of wisdom. I intake allot of herbs, grains, fruit, vegetables. I hardly ever eat meat. Maybe once a month. I never,ever, ever put anything into my body unless i have done the research and know it does my body good.. I even do the small thing, I don't drink any caffeinated or carbonated drinks. I haven't had fast food in over three years.(i have cheated twice) A few times i have been so hungry I had to have a a fast food burger. My body wont even hold trash anymore. So i don't even bother no matter how tempting it looks. Soorryy. I said to much. Good luck.

18And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;

19And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;

20And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.

21And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

So you could say I have a strong testimony of the word of wisdom.

Also, if you might want to look into Dr. Jack Stockwell's Bone Health Pack. I think it is awsome. He also has a weekly radio show in salt lake, Provo, and Orem on Ktalk radio 630 am Mon-Fri 7am-9am. His shows on (i think) Tuesdays and Thursdays are all health shows which are so informative and useful. I definitely recommend you listen to one. On the other days he talks mainly conspiracy stuff. Federal Reserve, new world order. But you might want to just listen to his health shows. Even though I do like his other ones.

I've heard that problem bro,everybody is questioned about chiro and physical therapy.As I observed, chiropractors are recommended for back injuries and other things like relaxation unlike physical therapy can't cure or we just say for relaxation only.

Anyway, just do some research or ask on your friends and visit in your place.If you want to know more about chiropractors just visit this site http://www.redondofc.com/ Good day man!
