Advise from a former Congressional Staffer and neighbor Re. contacting Congress

As a former Congressional Staffer, here's some heads up on whether or not your voice will be heard. Petitions are NOT considered unless your name and ADDRESS are included on the petition. Additionally, it is HUGE to CALL YOUR TWO SENATORS AND CONGRESSMAN!! If it is not your state, your voice is not heard. Leave your NAME, ADDRESS, and REQUEST RETURNED CORRESPONDENCE ON HOW THEY VOTE ON THE ISSUE (Unless the staffer assures you he/she supports your interest)!!!! Additionally, if they don't plan on voting in your interest, request a letter stating REASONS WHY. Otherwise, there is no accountability to your member. When calling, speak assuredly and confidently in requesting they support your interest.

Believe me, I've been on the receiving end of constituent calls, and if you don't request and leave the fore mentioned information, it's a wasted phone call. On the other hand, if you do leave that information, it weighs heavily on your Member's vote, especially nearing an election year.
