No. We visited there a few years back, and to be honest, we did not have a positive experience
It was nice for the kids to see a place where there was an LDS chapel on every corner- thats very different than life here- as I am sure it is in many parts of the USA.

The obscene wealth in areas like Draper (?) as in the 3 storey McMansions up on the hill, i guess you get that everywhere

The gray, bleak city- we came around end October.

The temple square which has been encroached by contruction- that really disappointed us. I mean its meant to the THE temple. the sanctuary on earth of gods house, in the mountains, and it was sad seeing apartments over looking it like that.

even down to Cols place (which was our highlight for SLC)- but the whole valley is just depressingly bleak, barren, and devoid of, well, i don't know. its just not the place we'd want to live- aestetically.

plus we went to a ward and well, nice people, but need to get out a bit more to grab a dose of perspective was our thoughts (yeah im sure i need to as well)

and yes, we didn't make it through the tour of the conference centre. that did not square with our experience of what we as a family read in the gospel. we do (as in, when we do) family scripure reading and teach them about king benjamin, and then we see that.

sorry, we'll just do a month of amusement parks where you pay money to go in and you know that Disney ARE going to give you HeartSell (TM), but you know what you are getting in advance ;-)

yeah no.

we DID enjoy music and the spoken word broadcast. we stayed with a really nice family in SLC and they took us to that one sunday and that was a lovely experience. we have more affinity with the "old" conference centre

so 1 month. december. have car. from LA to San Diego to san bernadino...and yes, I know I'll be 5 minutes away from Mark's place- but lets not go there.

It may seem that way, but is it not really, a mansion there is cheaper than a three bedroom fibro wreck in Sydney suburbs. For example, near the Mortdale Chapel... ;) LOL

I lived in Riverside county, and city (right around where you are going) and I have to say that area has the best mormons, IMO. No disrespect to anywhere else. And yes, I have lived in Utah, as well as many other states. Have a fun trip. When you are finished, you should post your experiences and impressions of the church there.

They are beautiful. But unfortunately my favourite is sited on an ancient landslide which may be problematic following water soakage or earthquake activity.

SlC is beatiful in the summer and in the winter, when fresh snow has fallen but it can look quite bleak ,during the inbetween seasons, of fall and early spring.

If you can recommend a ward within 10 miles of Disneyland let me know.

When there are a LOT of small mansions and huge homes with an acre of grass and trees, a tennis court, basketball court, in-home movie theater, etc., you know employers around the area are suppressing the hirelings in their wages (Malachi 3:5). :ymapplause: X( It's an epidemic here - Utah County is the $12/hr. capital of the U.S.! :ymsick:

He and his family were here in November when everything was dead with a little snow on the ground - I hate that time of year too because there is no beauty and it's also when we start to get those valley inversions with smog and haze lasting for days. :p

:) :ymapplause: I'd move there tomorrow if I knew I had a job waiting for me and we could survive as a family - my favorite television show from the mid 1980's was filmed down there (Airwolf)... :) :ymhug:

Looks like it depends on what field you are in...as it did in other states I checked:
