The guy from Bosnia answers the questing, +2,000 per caliber. .22LR and air rifle is for hunting birds, rabbits etc plenty in my neck of the woods. In Australia less than 5% of people have guns and all automatics are illegal, if you are one of the 5% you have serous advantage. I purchase three Remington bucket of bullets for AUD $320. Each bucket has 1,400 rounds that is 4,200 roundsfreedomforall wrote:Bob mentioned gangs. This is a realistic notion and probably a more reasonable challenge where the defender has a much better chance of survival. But one still needs protective gear and reinforced shelter of some sort.
But my main question was not addressed. What is a reasonable amount of spare ammo for one gun? 50...100...300...600.....1000? Even a 22 can do serious damage when the rounds are placed properly.
If things get as bad as I am expecting within 6 months large portions of the population would have starved to death.
If you have no firearm two teenagers with cricket bats (baseball) could overpower you. The will choose the softer target, a defended place is not easy to take. If you are forced to flee into the woods firing and moving will give you plenty of time to escape - look at the Jews who hid in the woods from the Germans in Poland they fared quiet well with just a few guns and survived, despite tanks and planes used against them.
The US military will soon have there own problems to deal with like foreign invasion than wasting there time attacking a few civilians with minor resources, so send in helicopters and shoot 10,000 rounds at your house would cost them more than what it is worth. They shoot everything they have at ISIS and Taliban and are loosing the war. You will also be surprised if the US military had to attack civilians they would be spread too thin to be effective and most would desert to go look after their families. The US cant even mange a few rioters with stones and trash cans - just sit and watch their vehicles get tourched.
