Ron Paul Disinformation Agent?

I am brand new to the forums and this is my first post ever so I apologize if this topic has been addressed several times in the past. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the allegation by some that Ron Paul is nothing more than a disinformation agent. I read something just now that really threw me back:

Ron Paul praises the Pope for being a man of God and peace and rebukes politicians for not honoring him in such a way
during his life, and for "support [of] policies that are totally at odds with Catholic teachings." He further rebukes them of hypocrisy for having "very short memories."

Well I don't see what the Pope has to do with it. Coming against a religious figure isn't a good idea. To their credit the current Vatican has been trying to save Europe the best they can. They encouraged Europeans to breed, stop using birth control, and stop abortions. No one listened. They advised for Europeans to return to their Christian heritage. No one listened. It's not their fault. Although I do feel the Church has declined since the 2nd Vatican took over.
