Then yes, there is no strong conservative party. We are left to seek the Lord to find comfort.

Gad wrote: A bunch of people show up in your land looking for a better life and to escape oppression. Our answer, exploit, abuse and criminalize them. Nephite's answer (during one of their moments of righteousness) - give them a land of their own and support them - even so far as to protect them when they had religious obligations that prevented their military service. (See Anti-Nephi Lehis)

I suggest the Book of Mormon response. I suggest that we have that story in part as an example for this very situation. I suggest that many in the church treat the book lightly.

Or maybe Mosiah 4:17. Do not let the beggar perish. The only excuse for not giving to the beggar is that you do not have enough... well we have plenty. We would have even more if we relied on the Lord for our defense instead of our own arms.
That's a nice sentiment but completely out of touch with reality. We are broke as a nation. We can't provide for our own. We certaintly can't provided for other countries.

Short answer, yes. Long answer, most Hispanics know people personally that would be affected by deportation and therefore take the issue personally. Honestly, most illegal immigrants I have met have been among the hardest working people I know. If the republicans what to stay relevant they are going to have to make peace with this. Hispanics are an otherwise natural fit for the party.
FWIW post mortem McCain was for flat out amnesty and only did a little better than Romney. We could offer free citizenship at the border and still lose the Hispanic vote.

I agree with your last statement. I ask myself "why that is?" Anybody?

SpeedRacer wrote:Living in VA I see candidates like George Allen being put up on the stump against a near worthless opponent. George Allen is the least exciting candidate in history. So the republicans lose. Akon is kept on the ballot and Loses. Scott Brown loses to a known liar in Mass.

These are the easy ones. Then we get to president. There is simply no comparrison between the resumes of Obama and Romney. No sane employer on earth would take Obama. However our country did.

So where does this leave republicans?

Now my issue. I want to vote conservative without "wasting" my vote. How do we create a new party, or take over the leadership in the Republican party and transform it?

While it may not matter, this all may be over in four years anyhow.
Both political parties are basically the same. The far left and the far right are both for socialism at some level.

Ask yourself this question: where does the terms democrats and republicans come from?

Since we are a republic and not a democracy, could this be? ...democracy = democrats...and republicans = republic

Just food for thought.
