Mysophonia

Post by Jonesy »

Does anyone here have it?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia

It's the bane of my existence. I wouldn't believe it to be a real thing if I didn't have it myself. This isn't based on mere annoyances. I know what that is like. This is completely different and causes severe emotional reflexes and often fight-or-flight responses.

Once I received revelation that this condition would be overcome "in due time". I just hope it's not one of those thorn-in-the-flesh weaknesses that I have that will not go away until I die. It's very difficult to progress spiritually when I feel anger on a daily basis, and I'm tired of feeling rage and anger. It's awful, and so self-consuming. I don't know if this is a physiological or emotional disorder, or if it arose from a spiritual malady/sin or what. I had it since I was at least 10.

I'm open to any insights or suggestions.

I'm very sensitive to sounds and vibrations. I often have to go take a break by myself or I feel pretty overloaded with too much sensory input. I remember reading that sounds are picked up by very specific cells in the body while vibrations are picked up by different cells. Hence, deaf people can feel vibrations.
Does your problem deal with sound or vibrations or both?

Just sound. There are also visual triggers. For most people who deal with this issue, the main triggers are chewing/eating noises.

This website describes it better: http://www.misophonia.com/symptoms-triggers/

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by vibrations. I understand what they are, but how do you sense them or how do they affect you?

Energy healing.
That said, ear plugs and especially headphones can be helpful.
Also, avoiding triggers, like perhaps school cafeterias (worst), malls, etc.

For example, thunder- I can feel the vibrations from thunder even if no one can hear the thunder. It can be painful- thunder is very deep.

What type of visual triggers affect you the most?

Jim,
The Chinese Tea is called Jia Wei Xiao Yao San. It’s has to be ordered by a TCM doctor. Understanding the misophonia disorder and how it has to do with an imbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems will help your TCM customize the teas formula. Misophonia is much like PTSD in the fact that any particular sound will send one into the fight or flight stage....

Thank you! I'll look into that. I wish I'd have posted this earlier. I was in Yokosuka just last month.

Anything related to the sound triggers. Hand going up to mouth to bite nails, or to eat, etc.

I've wondered about energy healing. A while ago I looked into genetic or ancestral healing. I can't remember what it's called and I lost the bookmark that I associated with it.

I even met up with Dr. Melvin C. Fish when I was in Utah a few years back. It didn't work. But I shouldn't have invited my wife, because she just thought it was weird. So, I think maybe my faith could have been affected by that.

Every so often I get tinnitus. I do EFT for a few seconds, and it's usually gone.

Here's a list of some that might help:
Chinese Energetics
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Inner Influencing
Zivorad's PEAT/ Deep PEAT 3
Body Code/ Healing Code
Matrix Energetics
Pendulum
BodyTalk

My husband has this and carries earplugs around with him. It's the only thing that works. I believe there is a genetic component as well because one of our children has sensory processing disorder and has similar reactions as him to too much stimuli. We do occupational therapy with her and that helps a lot. I wonder if it would work on adults as well.

When my dog drinks water, he slurps loudly for about 3 minutes straight. It literally drives me crazy. I have to leave the room until he is finished.
