state of the states political advantage by party (moved)

Post by hedgehog »

lets try this again. last time i accidentally dropped it in the wrong place.

Here is a fascinating gallup poll.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/122003/Polit ... d-Far.aspx

Just because your neighbors and church friends are republican or conservative does not mean the world around you is. I wrote in a post some time ago that Utah is the last place to make a stand in terms of state government.... people were generally dismissive. Lots of Utah people may not be "awakened" politically but at least they aren't brainwashed socialist.

Really? Almost everyone I know in the Church is a Socialist as long as their taxes are kept low. Raise their taxes and all of the sudden they become lovers of the Constitution. Create runaway inflation? At least I got my "Cash for my clunker". I bet you every member your (collective your) Ward that bought a car since the program started, took advantage of the program. And that is just the most recent scheme for enslaving our souls that most LDS clamor for.

Yeah, this is somewhat misleading. From the survey:
Bottom Line

Since Obama was inaugurated, not much has changed in the political party landscape at the state level -- the Democratic Party continues to hold a solid advantage in party identification in most states and in the nation as a whole. While the size of the Democratic advantage at the national level has shrunk in recent months, this has been due to an increase in independent identification rather than an increase in Republican support. That finding is echoed here given that the total number of solid and leaning Republican states remains unchanged from last year. While the Republican Party is still able to compete in elections if they enjoy greater turnout from their supporters or greater support for its candidates from independent voters, the deck is clearly stacked in the Democratic Party's favor for now.
I think this survey comes out to scare conservatives, but the bottom line is that more people are becoming independent because they see how sorry Republicans are (how many of us are in that camp--I'm no Republican). We are still a conservative country. This would have been a better survey. I think they used some dubious methodology here to scare conservatives.
