Which generation are you?

Post by SmallFarm »

Another topic led me to wonder which generations of people frequent this site. It seems on the surface to be mainly boomers and gen x. I included the mini-generations because I for one don't identify with either gen X or millennials (I was born in the over-lap).
Here's links to more info on each generation. It's less about birth year and more about culture:
Silent Generation
Baby Boomers
Generation Jones
Generation X
Oregon Trail Generation
Millennials
Generation Z

I read up on the lost generation, but I think you skipped the G.I. Generation. Future Shock to me be best explains the current situation with 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Slaughterhouse 5 and Holden Caulfield thrown in for good measure.

Reading this article http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stor ... de-guerre/ I learned my little hero saved the Lost Battalion who was part of the Lost Generation. And he did it with only one eye. @-)

I considered including it but didn't think we had any from that era since Bob left the mortal plane.

Fascinating. Turns out that Cher Ami is claimed to be a male pigeon and this by most resources. However, it was discovered when the bird was preserved by the taxidermist that it was actually a female. The original stories were known far and wide and have persisted that it was a male but again we see that it was a "she" that gave her all to save the lives of the troops.

I'm guessing that she had to conceal her identity to enlist as in those days it was not permitted.

Cool, I've often wondered why we humans haven't ventured beyond the moon. Image

... Because NMN also benefits cells exposed to radiation, the excitement about the team’s findings has affected NASA which may be seeing this breakthrough as a potential solution to their problem of keeping their astronauts healthy. Whether short or long, astronauts get constantly exposed to cosmic radiation during space missions. This results in accelerated aging which manifest in symptoms like memory loss and muscle weakness. For longer missions like a trip to Mars, NASA estimates that prolonged exposure to cosmic radiation will cause the death of 5% of astronauts’ cells. Even worse, their chance of getting cancer is almost 100%. With an anti-aging solution that works on radiation exposure-associated cell damage, astronauts may no longer have to deal with these bleak probabilities.

Human trials are expected to begin within the next 6 months. If the tests prove effective, the findings can help push forward the development of therapies that prevent aging-related DNA deterioration. It can also help protect cancer patients from the harmful side effects of chemo and radiation therapy. NASA’s space missions may become purely beneficial as well. Even frequent flyers stand to benefit from this too. ... An Anti-Aging Pill Could Be On The Horizon; Human Trials To Begin This Fall

It's the cosmic rays: shoulda known. Today I learned Cher Ami is a girl too :ymhug:

Ha ha, Oregon Trail Generation... 35 here. Never felt like a millennial and felt too young to be gen x. Man I used to love that game. "You have died of dysentery."
