I think it's supposed to be a very snowy(cold) winter in Utah this year too. We haven't had one for a few years, so we are about due. This early storm in Yellowstone may be an indication of what is to come.

Not unusual for it to snow in Yellowstone in September

Growing up in Idaho in the same general area I remember a blizzard rolling through on the 4th of July.

You all live in temperate climes if that is a "blizzard".
When I was a kid, I remember an overnight snowfall of almost 5' in northern NM. THAT"S a blizzard.
For what it's worth, we shoveled the walks in the morning and carried on. I seem to remember getting 1 snow day out of that event...

Looks rather normal early fall snow to me. What I like even better is the people who try and tie snow in Yellowstone to Julie Rowe "prophecies" about earthquakes in the Salt Lake Valley to snow in Yellowstone which is over 300 miles away and several thousand feet higher in altitude.

Got caught in a snow storm in August a few years ago in Yellowstone. Too bad JR wasn't around to warn me about that.

There were people trying to link the two? I must have missed it.gkearney wrote:Looks rather normal early fall snow to me.
