It seems that life is intended to be difficult at times because we and others make mistakes and the consequences can be heart-breaking. As much as we want to be or appear "perfect," we have weaknesses, so we can be humble and God can make weak things strong (psychological term: positive disintegration). Maybe the only way to spiritually grow is to have one's heart broken again and again, expanding to a greater capacity to love.
