My premise is that Adam and Eve were on God's time. In other words, one hour to them would be 42 years to us. So their time clock ran much, much slower than ours. This due to the fact that their reckoning of time was not in play yet. If they could have had a wall clock, it would have revealed Kolob time, not earth time. Even though they were mortal, their body clocks (aging capabilities) were still on Kolob time. A 105 year old man of today would only be two and one half hours old back then. He would have been in diapers then and many, many years from then on.

Genesis 4
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.

2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: (close quote)

Apparently, the sheep were also sacrificed to the Lord. Perhaps the fleece/hair of sheep (and goats) were used for clothing, blankets, tents. But did they eat animals?

Genesis 3
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. (close quote)

I bet Adam followed the example of the Lord God and killed animals to make clothing. But did they eat animals? Would Adam and his posterity kill an animal for its hide and then leave the meet to rot? Did they feed the meat to their dogs?

Genesis 1
26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (close quote)

Dominion was given to mankind over everything. But did they eat animals?

Let's suppose that the Lord didn't intend for man to eat animals. However, in Noah's day something changed.

Genesis 6
5 ¶ And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (close quote)

Is it possible that mankind and at least some of the animals had become carnivorous? Is this the violence referred to in these verses in Chapter 6?

Cain, the first murderer, probably had little reason to avoid the eating of meat after slaying his brother. Once you've killed a human, there might be few internal barriers to killing a deer or a bird for food.

About three or four years ago, I did a bit of a diversion from my usual study where I decided to do some comparisons with LDS theology and scientific claims. The goal was to illustrate commonality and just illustrate potential areas where allowing for the nuances of terminology and language that there might be shared ground that sustained scientific claims. In other words the standard was the Gospel and I was seeking to show places that science and the gospel were compatible. This became a huge document over time but I will share portions that pertain to the fall.

This will get to the age of Adam and Eve and possible influencing factors but prior to that point are several aspects of the changes expected from a fall which illuminate several of the questions that naturally arise as you consider upon Adam and Eve. If nothing else there are some very good quotes from general authorities if you just read through and find them.

From a logical perspective there were three premises that would have been conditions for the changes we would expect to see in a fall from an eternal state to a mortal state.

It is important to have the theological standard as it provides the perspective from which we can draw our primary concepts for which to compare to our known science base and find where potential for common considerations may exist. As our discussion for this effort is considering the creation of the world and measurements of events since, the scripture provides our very first point for consideration within the first three chapters. These three conditions, all intrinsic in the fall, have the potential to influence the physics that define the dating criteria of the age of the earth and the fossil record. These physical influences on matter would be in a state of flux due to the following:

1.) a fall in space.
2.) a fall in nature of the pure light source of an eternal state.
3.) a fall in quickening.
When the earth was framed and brought into existence and man was placed upon it, it was near the throne of our Father in heaven. And when man fell—though that was designed in the economy, there was nothing about it mysterious or unknown to the Gods, they understood it all, it was all planned—but when man fell, the earth fell into space, and took up its abode in this planetary system, and the sun became our light. When the Lord said—"Let there be light," there was light, for the earth was brought near the sun that it might reflect upon it so as to give us light by day, and the moon to give us light by night. This is the glory the earth came from, and when it is glorified it will return again unto the presence of the Father, and it will dwell there, 20. (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 17:143.)
As the earth’s current rate of the passage of time and its establishment of defining measurement is a by-product of the fall from an eternal sphere to a fallen sphere it seems only prudent to at least ponder that impact. Just presuming to use the traditional measurement of 1 day to God is 1000 years to man actually does not consider all of the factors involved that influence our perceptions of time. We still have to make some allowance for the simple fact that the 1 day is a 1000 years comparison still does not exactly apply to the earth in its pre-fall state. A terrestrial state by eternal design has a lesser ratio to earth time.
(Abraham 3:8-9.)

8 And where these two facts exist, there shall be another fact above them, that is, there shall be another planet whose reckoning of time shall be longer still;

9 And thus there shall be the reckoning of the time of one planet above another, until thou come nigh unto Kolob, which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord's time; which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
We can extrapolate from Abraham 3:8-9 that there is a very precise order to the heavens and the highest state of reckoning of time is that of God’s time which is reckoned after time as it is measured on Kolob. The scriptural record sustains that God’s home is the celestial kingdom. The common reference then of 1 day relative to God’s time is 1000 years to the periods of time reckoned by Abraham is appropriate for measuring the state of time in a celestial sphere. However, as Elder McConkie points out, the Edenic state is that of a Terrestrial sphere and accordingly must operate in a time phase somewhat lower than Celestial but greater than our current telestial state.
It is false to assume that all things have always been the same. For instance: When the Lord created this earth, it was in a terrestrial state, an Edenic state, a paradisiacal state; death had not then entered the world. Adam and Eve and all created things were in an immortal state.(Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3 vols. p3.)

For the sake of illustration one could say that one day in Eden is 980 years for our telestial state to 1 day for Adam. That is not an actual number as there is no known reference in scripture or prophetic statement that I am aware of that tells us exactly. Nonetheless, regardless of the exact differences, it takes little consideration to realize that an earth falling in space is going to experience multiple changes - environmental, spatial, and the accounting of time amongst others. These changes will impact not only the earth but also the physics of measuring decay.
Tests with atomic clocks have shown that the flow of time is related to the speed of an object. Current theories suggest that the universe is either accelerating or decelerating (depending on who you believe). If this is true then it is safe to say that the Universe is expanding at a different speed than it was 1 billion years ago, i.e. as the earth is in a non-central position in the universe, it is moving at a different speed than 1GYa . This would lead to the conclusion that the flow of time (i.e. the length of 1s) was different 1GYa which leads to decay rates being different and, ultimately the age of the Earth being different that that which can be calculated. Once the varying speeds of the progression of the Galaxy through the Universe, the variance in the rotational speed of the Galaxy as well as those of the local cluster and solar system, the actual age of the Earth could be very different from the 4.54GYa quoted.Kendroche 07:56, 28 July 2010 (UTC) (http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Age_of_the_Earth )
Time dilation is discussed further in the following :
(PhysOrg.com) -- The phenomenon of time dilation is a strange yet experimentally confirmed effect of relativity theory. One of its implications is that events occurring in distant parts of the universe should appear to occur more slowly than events located closer to us. For example, when observing supernovae, scientists have found that distant explosions seem to fade more slowly than the quickly-fading nearby supernovae.

The effect can be explained because (1) the speed of light is a constant (independent of how fast a light source is moving toward or away from an observer) and (2) the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, which causes light from distant objects to redshift (i.e. the wavelengths to become longer) in relation to how far away the objects are from observers on Earth. In other words, as space expands, the interval between light pulses also lengthens. Since expansion occurs throughout the universe, it seems that time dilation should be a property of the universe that holds true everywhere, regardless of the specific object or event being observed. However, a new study has found that this doesn’t seem to be the case - quasars, it seems, give off light pulses at the same rate no matter their distance from the Earth, without a hint of time dilation.
I am going to break this into chunks so as not to make too long of a post.

The previous post kind of deals with the fall in space which must have occurred and is sustained by commentary by Brigham Young. Interestingly, science concurs or acknowledges the possibility.
This is the cosmic puzzle that now confronts astrophysicists. Some scientists are speculating that this could mean that our sun originated from someplace else in the galaxy with much less oxygen, and then somehow moved to its present location. .(In First, NASA Probe Detects ‘Alien Matter’ Entering Our Solar System February 1, 2012 By Michael Ricciardi, http://planetsave.com/2012/02/01/in-fir ... ar-system/
Only possibilities, but as Brigham Young states and the above quote contemplates as well, a different location would potentially indicate differences in light sources and compositions.

This paper has also introduced the brilliance of a pulsar and the cluster of such that is found near the galactic center of the Milky Way. The principle of 3 forming a presidency as also indicated by Brigham Young.

However, as discussed, if the process of a fall is initiated then the implications are that an energy source that is suitable for sustaining pure matter would become progressively more lethal to falling matter. As the matter degrades, the level of purity must as well as we fail to be able to abide the law of an eternal state. This requires a graduated distancing and reduction of the light that is designed to sustain an eternal being. Doctrine and Covenants 88 again provides the source material for a concept that higher levels of glory and subsequently the light of that glory can only be tolerated by those beings that can be quickened to the levels that tolerates the light of that level of glory. Again it is important to bear in mind that this reference of light is the scriptural metaphorical usage as an understanding of the complete aspects of light and how it facilitates the process of quickening are not completely deduced by either religious or scientific disciplines.
(Doctrine and Covenants 88:17-22.)

17 And the redemption of the soul is through him that quickeneth all things, in whose bosom it is decreed that the poor and the meek of the earth shall inherit it.

18 Therefore, it must needs be sanctified from all unrighteousness, that it may be prepared for the celestial glory;

19 For after it hath filled the measure of its creation, it shall be crowned with glory, even with the presence of God the Father;

20 That bodies who are of the celestial kingdom may possess it forever and ever; for, for this intent was it made and created, and for this intent are they sanctified.

21 And they who are not sanctified through the law which I have given unto you, even the law of Christ, must inherit another kingdom, even that of a terrestrial kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom.

22 For he who is not able to abide the law of a celestial kingdom cannot abide a celestial glory.
D & C 88:49 The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not; nevertheless, the day shall come when you shall comprehend even God, being quickened in him and by him.
The term quickening, has as described connotations of operating in a faster phase of existence. Clearly a function of Christ’s role as Savior, the resurrection is the process of uniting the soul, or the body and the spirit and in some way involves the process of being quickened. However, perhaps additional information can be reasonably conjectured. Consider the clues from the above verses. The redemption of the soul involves quickening. It requires sanctification to achieve the state of celestial quickening.

Sanctification is another word that has significant spiritual connotations. In simplest terms it is a process of refinement and purification one can be sanctified as part of becoming clean and receiving a remission of sin. Religious principles are patterns of eternity and patterns of the effects of impurity are found throughout scientific study as well. These processes of sanctifications contain imagery of a refiners fire such as is used to purify metals such as gold and silver. Science uses principles that can be demonstrated to have parallels to religious terminologies.

Scriptural verses that deal with quickening define it as relative to being able to abide certain laws of existence. Those of the most pure state are quickened to the state of the highest levels of quickening. These levels of quickening are reserved for those that can abide the law of a celestial kingdom. Another way of looking at this is that all of those that can abide by the laws of a celestial kingdom will in unity operate at the same quickened level. The same level that Jesus Christ is quickened as it is through him that we are quickened in him and by him.
D & C 88:49 The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not; nevertheless, the day shall come when you shall comprehend even God, being quickened in him and by him.
It is a known fact in physics that the inherent capacity of a material to sustain vibration is based on its natural vibration frequency. If that materials capacity is exceeded for too long, it will break. Of addition consideration is that the presence of impurities can also create weaknesses in the material which also result is its destruction.
Every object has a natural vibrational frequency. If that frequency is supplied to the object from an external source, the object will vibrate sympathetically. If the external source supplies enough energy such that the elastic modulus of the object is exceeded, the object will break. You have probably seen opera singers break goblets by singing a tone. No chemical impurities in that glass! No defects either, structural or chemical!! (How do they do it? They vary their pitch until the glass starts to vibrate, then hold that pitch until the vibration exceeds the elastic modulus of the crystal.) Where did the vibration come from? Could be any one of a zillion possible sources... (http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/c ... m00506.htm)
While we can only wonder, this process of vibrational frequency seems potentially like that of being quickened with Christ as the “external source” of the frequency that we match as we become like him. A similar aspect of the force in physics is defined with the term sympathetic resonance, or a process whereby materials of like potential are influenced when brought onto the presence of matter which has a “harmonic likeness” and they begin to resonate with the same vibratory oscillation.
Sympathetic resonance is a harmonic phenomenon wherein a formerly passive string or vibratory body responds to external vibrations to which it has a harmonic likeness. The classic example is demonstrated with two similar tuning-forks of which one is mounted on a wooden box. If the other one is struck and then placed on the box, then muted, the un-struck mounted fork will be heard. In similar fashion, strings will respond to the external vibrations of a tuning-fork when sufficient harmonic relations exist between the respective vibratory modes. A unison or octave will provoke the largest response as there is maximum likeness in vibratory motion. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sympathetic_resonance)
In a study published in Experimental Cell Research, there were noted some very interesting characteristics of cultured heart cells. This study conducted by Barbara Farley at the Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Biology of the Department of Biophysics and Nuclear Medicine and Department of Physiological Chemistry, School of Medicine, University of California was summarized with the following points:
1.Rat heart cells separated by trypsin and grown in vitro continue to beat.
2.Cellsbeating at an independent rate become synchronous upon physical contact, indicating that the communication of rate of beating is through protoplasmic contact.
3.The rate of beating for the synchronous net of muscle cells is determined by the fastest beating cell.
4.Despite the superimposed rate, each cell retains potentially its own inherent rate of beating.
5.Single independently beating cells grow into synchronously beating nets of cells and eventually develop into beating fibers. Synchrony depends upon protoplasmic contact.
6.Two types of cells are seen, independent “leading” cells which may beat spontaneously and “following” cells which beat only upon contact with beating cells.
(In Vitro Studies on Single Beating Rat Heart Cells 1: II. Intercellular communication, Experimental Cell Research, Vol 29, Issue 3 pages 451-465. Summary retrieved from http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/ar ... 2763800087)
These are very interesting findings which indicate several key points perhaps supportive of the idea of our beings synchronizing with other beings of different rates of quickening. That the heart cells beat independently when separated but link up upon contact could be analogous to aspects of our own quickening, which Christ will affect in the resurrection. Again these are not straight apples to apples comparisons but simply patterns that may be able to be extrapolated to a higher order such as whole organisms synchronizing in the harmonizing resonance of celestial quickening. Point 4 and 6 above also have some potentially common association to our individual will and state which may be the case of us submitting our will to God’s - the leading entity to whom we hope to be in unison and interestingly enough the faster rate is the determining rate. It is easy to chalk these things up to coincidence and perhaps not germane to the topic at hand but I always find it interesting to review this thought frequently:

Moses 6:63
63 And behold, all things have their likeness, and all things are created and made to bear record of me, both things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are in the earth, and things which are under the earth, both above and beneath: all things bear record of me.

Considering other facets of this probationary period, it is true that if we pursue a course of willful disobedience we pull further and further away from being like our Savior – we lose potential so to speak. Often we hear of the Hebrew definition of the term repentance which is to turn away as in turn away from doing wrong and make a 180 degree turn and begin doing the right thing. However, it can also have connotations of returning to a former state. Such a state could be that of a little child and the return can be expressed in terms of being submissive or denying one’s own will to serve another.

When we have erred, sinful behaviors push us further from God’s presence while repentance is a process of return. So also, as the earth completes its sojourn from creation through the fall and back again, to its paradisiacal glory and ultimately to its celestial destiny, the earth will have submitted again to the conditions necessary to bring it back into the former place it once occupied in the presence of the creator.
This earth is our home, it was framed expressly for the habitation of those who are faithful to God, and who prove themselves worthy to inherit the earth when the Lord shall have sanctified, purified and glorified it and brought it back into his presence, from which it fell far into space. …When the earth was framed and brought into existence and man was placed upon it, it was near the throne of our Father in heaven. And when man fell—though that was designed in the economy, there was nothing about it mysterious or unknown to the Gods, they understood it all, it was all planned—but when man fell, the earth fell into space, and took up its abode in this planetary system, and the sun became our light. … This is the glory the earth came from, and when it is glorified it will return again unto the presence of the Father, and it will dwell there, and these intelligent beings that I am looking at, if they live worthy of it, will dwell upon this earth. (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 26 vols. [London: Latter-day Saints' Book Depot, 1854-1886], 17: 143.)
Other functions of light as used in scripture, in the all encompassing metaphorical use of any form of influence that can be derived from cosmic emissions, are contained in the vast array of electromagnetic frequencies. The medical profession has particularly benefited from harnessing magnetic resonance as a diagnosis device.

In 1970, Raymond Damadian, a medical doctor and research scientist, discovered the basis for using magnetic resonance imaging as a tool for medical diagnosis. He found that different kinds of animal tissue emit response signals that vary in length, and that cancerous tissue emits response signals that last much longer than non-cancerous tissue.
The medical use of magnetic resonance imaging has developed rapidly. The first MRI equipment in health were available at the beginning of the 1980s. In 2002, approximately 22 000 MRI cameras were in use worldwide, and more than 60 million MRI examinations were performed.
(http://inventors.about.com/od/mstartinv ... /a/MRI.htm)
The ability to use these forces and observe their influences on matter and to be able to distinguish the corrupted matter from the whole also has its parallels in the religious theology already referenced in D & C 88 that in order to abide any kingdom one must be able to abide the glory of that kingdom. If part of abiding the glory of that kingdom was dependent upon a state of degrees of purity ,which we know it is, could not part of the challenge be that we simply could not bear the discomfort for very long of conditions for which we are not adapted to embrace?
The processes then of the plan of salvation that require us to be obedient to commandments and to abstain from destructive behaviors can very well be seen as preparation of our physical temples to be able to abide conditions for which corrupted matter is not suited. Once this standard of purity is imposed upon our being then it is prepared to be affected by other forces that can be imposed on it and instead of destroying it for its corruptness will raise it upward to a higher standard of existence. Bruce R. McConkie comments to a concept akin to this as he discusses one benefit wrought by the atonement of Jesus Christ.
Reconciliation/Salvation comes to those fallen men who reconcile themselves to God. Through Christ and by faith, men may be ransomed from their state of sin and spiritual darkness and be restored to one of harmony and unity with their Maker. Paul expounded this theological concept in this manner: "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature." That is, he has been born again. "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ." Christ is the Reconciler; his atoning sacrifice opened the door so that men could return to God. And the Lord "hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. That ministry and doctrine is "that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them."(Bruce R. McConkie, A New Witness for the Articles of Faith 123.)
Further insight that develops somewhat upon these principles of purification is found in another quote by Bruce R. McConkie
There are three kingdoms of glory in which resurrected men will be saved: the celestial, the terrestrial, and the telestial. "In the celestial glory there are three heavens or degrees." The highest of these is reserved for those who gain eternal life. All others are damned in the sense that their progress is limited. There are restrictions placed upon them; they have reached the "end of [their] kingdom"; they "cannot have an increase." (D&C 131:1, 4.)

The celestial kingdom is reserved for those who sanctify their souls by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. They are the ones whose sins Christ bore. (Bruce R. McConkie, A New Witness for the Articles of Faith 145.)
However, perhaps one of the best indicators of this concept is found in Alma
(Alma 41:2-6.)

2 I say unto thee, my son, that the plan of restoration is requisite with the justice of God; for it is requisite that all things should be restored to their proper order. Behold, it is requisite and just, according to the power and resurrection of Christ, that the soul of man should be restored to its body, and that every apart of the body should be restored to itself.

3 And it is requisite with the justice of God that men should be judged according to their works; and if their works were good in this life, and the desires of their hearts were good, that they should also, at the last day, be restored unto that which is good.

4 And if their works are evil they shall be restored unto them for evil. Therefore, all things shall be restored to their proper order, every thing to its natural frame—mortality raised to immortality, corruption to incorruption—raised to endless happiness to inherit the kingdom of God, or to endless misery to inherit the kingdom of the devil, the one on one hand, the other on the other—
The principle to expand is found in the word restore. To restore something is to place it back into a state that it was previously in. The long and short of this is that we each develop aspects of the kingdom we ultimately will occupy. We develop a celestial body and then in the resurrection we receive a fullness of the glory associated with that body. Doctrine and Covenants 88:28-29 further reinforces this idea in the following terms:
(Doctrine and Covenants 88:28-29.)

28 They who are of a celestial spirit shall receive the same body which was a natural body; even ye shall receive your bodies, and your glory shall be that glory by which your bodies are quickened.

29 Ye who are quickened by a portion of the celestial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness.
This natural body is the body of mortality and when it is quickened it will simply be the act of taking a mortal body that has achieved a celestial status but lacks whatever it is to have a fullness. Elder McConkie again provides insight:
Now I do not know what happens, but something happens to a human body when the individual concerned lives a celestial law. He becomes, in the language of Alma, a new creature of the Holy Ghost. In the language of many scriptures he is born again, he is sanctified and this sanctified involves the renewing of the body. The body becomes something different, apparently than it was…I am talking about the molecular structure of the body…Now I do not have the faintest idea whether this could ever be discovered under a microscope, I doubt if you could. But from the Lord’s microscope, there would be some way of distinguishing the kind of a body that is involved. (Bruce R. McConkie, Unpublished BYU Lecture series 1967.)

Re: How did Adam & Eve live so long?

Post by brlenox »

The third condition of the fall that is clearly going to influence the nature of the evidence we can observe in our current state of existence is influencing factors related to the state of a quickened existence in an eternal realm versus the conditions and the process that must occur if it is to transition to a mortal state of death. This particular aspect of a fall in scientific terms is not so easily resolved. I have located tangents of scientific observations that will allude to possibilities. Yet even from the scriptural side of the equation there is not much specificity and we will simply have to find a perspective of common potentials.

One term applied to conditions of an eternal nature is called a state of quickening. Doctrine and Covenants 88 references the concept of quickening.
Doctrine and Covenents 88: 25-32

25 And again, verily I say unto you, the earth abideth the law of a celestial kingdom, for it filleth the measure of its creation, and transgresseth not the law—

26 Wherefore, it shall be sanctified; yea, notwithstanding it shall die, it shall be quickened again, and shall abide the power by which it is quickened, and the righteous shall inherit it.

27 For notwithstanding they die, they also shall rise again, a spiritual body.

28 They who are of a celestial spirit shall receive the same body which was a natural body; even ye shall receive your bodies, and your glory shall be that glory by which your bodies are quickened.

29 Ye who are quickened by a portion of the celestial [and terrestrial and telestial] glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness.

32 And they who remain shall also be quickened; nevertheless, they shall return again to their own place, to enjoy that which they are willing to receive, because they were not willing to enjoy that which they might have received.
It is apparent that quickening is not only a state of glory but is also a state of eternal existence. As is pointed out by verse 32, even those who do not attain a kingdom of glory shall be quickened that they can continue in the eternal state of judgment to which they are assigned. A definition as found in Websters 1828 online dictionary defines the term thus:
QUICK'ENED, pp.

1. Made alive; revived; vivified; reinvigorated.

2. Accelerated; hastened.

3. Stimulated; incited.
It’s use in English scripture is illustrated by this selection from William Tyndale’s 1526 edition of the Bible:
Luke XVII:33

Whosoever will goo about to save his lyfe, shall loose it: And whosoever shall loose his life, shall quycken it.
A quickened object operates under rules of existence that in some fashion at least embraces a concept of operating in a faster state. In theory, traceable changes that occur in an eternal state could be accounted for in a fallen state and time paradigm only if a formula was known that embraced two factors of conversion. It has to account for its faster state of being and account for the relationship of the change that occurs relative to the conditions of an eternal state versus the degraded conditions of a declining state that is required to prevent the destruction of matter that is no longer capable of being sustained in that eternal state.

Now this next part is the crux of the entire issue. Earlier I floated a hypothetical of traceable changes in a eternal state. That is not a given in that an eternal state is a state of constant renewal as it is quickened to the fullness of the rate of an eternal kingdom and it is bathed in a pure unadulterated light / life source. The relationship of its state of quickening and the quality of the light source intrinsically create the condition of eternal. Somehow also, perhaps for another day’s discussion members of a celestial level in the highest degree become self sustaining light sources.

If matter transitioned from an eternal state to a state where it ceased to be eternal this would necessitate a fall away from it former location this defines the necessity of one aspect of the fall. The second aspect is this piece of a fall in its state of quickening and is most significant and is the key to the measurements of time that depart from the scriptural 7 creative cycles and become the periods of billions of years. Both the claims of scientists and the claims of scriptural time measurements can be reconciles as correct and valid within margins of error from the temporal perspectives. However, to grasp this we must be willing to at least consider the paradigm shifts in thinking from the physics of our current mortal sphere to the physics of a transitioning to mortal sphere. In consideration of measurements of age that indicate antiquity of an organism but show no clear evolutionary pattern when one might expect such many situations of the nature of the article following consistently question evolution and perhaps support variables in perceptions of time:

The discoveries of amber-encased insects in Italy may sound like something out of "Jurassic Park" but these bugs are even older than that. They are about 230 million years old, which puts them in the Triassic time period, and about 100 million years older than what had been the previously known oldest critters trapped in fossilized tree resin, or amber.

Researchers painstakingly examined 70,000 droplets of amber found in northeastern Italy. Stuck in them were two microscopic mites and much of one fly. The mites are too small to be seen with the naked eye and the fly is a tad tinier than a fruit fly, researchers say.
And when Grimaldi compared the ancient mites to their modern day descendants, he was surprised about how similar they are. Except for difference in the mouth and fewer legs, "they're dead ringers for (modern) gall mites," he said. The modern ones can be found in bubbles or galls on plant leaves.

And that's surprising because the world itself has changed a lot from when these bugs were alive. Back then, there was only one giant continent, some early primitive dinosaurs and no flower plants. Mites now live on flowering plants, but their ancient relatives must have stayed on trees, Grimaldi said. (http://www.clarionledger.com/viewart/20 ... ext%7CHome)
Perhaps these two samples of mites are not separated in time as much as they might appear as a result of greater variables in the constants that influence the calculations within the standards of radiometric calculations. These constants have been referenced several times in this document and are the backbone of scientific theoretics, especially those of radioactive decay rates used in the calculations of periods of time since demise. One factor acknowledged in recent years as an influencing agent in decay rates is cosmic rays:
Although we have not discovered where cosmic rays come from, we have taken a major step towards ruling out one of the leading predictions," said IceCube principal investigator and University of Wisconsin-Madison physics professor Francis Halzen.

Cosmic rays are electrically charged particles, such as protons, that strike Earth from all directions, with energies up to one hundred million times higher than those created in human-made accelerators. The intense conditions needed to generate such energetic particles have focused physicists' interest on two potential sources: the massive black holes at the centers of active galaxies, and the exploding fireballs observed by astronomers as gamma ray bursts (GRBs). http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 131431.htm
By definition the fall is a condition of controlled entropy as a perfected sphere falls to a lower state of an imperfect sphere.

I said, “the spirit of the Lord and the Keys of the Priesthood hold power over all animated beings. When father Adam transgressed the law, he did not fall at once from the presence of the Lord but spake face to face with him a long time afterwards. Men continued to sin and degenerate from generation to generation until they had got so far from the Lord that a veil of darkness sprang up between them so that men could no longer speak with the Lord, save it were through a Prophet. During this time the earth and all creation groaned in sin, and enmity increased, and the lives of men and beasts decreased. For this cause the Son of God descended below all things that he might reach every man and that he might return to the Father and have power over all things.
In this dispensation the keys that were committed to father Adam will be restored, and we are to return unto the favor and presence of the Lord. If we cease hostility with the serpents and lay aside all enmity and treat all animals kindly, begin humble and faithful with long suffering and forbearance, no man need ever have a horse or a cow bitten by a snake. The serpents would soon become perfectly harmless so that they could be handled without danger; children could play with them without receiving harm. In my mind at this time, based on the scriptural record it would have to generate a steep falling curve that drops sharply to a point that tapers off rapidly. The point of the turnout for my mind is the flood. Although, I am sure that a very remarkable event is alluded to in these verses in Moses 7:14
(Moses 7:13-14.)

13 And so great was the faith of Enoch that he led the people of God, and their enemies came to battle against them; and he spake the word of the Lord, and the earth trembled, and the mountains fled, even according to his command; and the rivers of water were turned out of their course; and the roar of the lions was heard out of the wilderness; and all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the word of Enoch, and so great was the power of the language which God had given him.

14 There also came up a land out of the depth of the sea, and so great was the fear of the enemies of the people of God, that they fled and stood afar off and went upon the land which came up out of the depth of the sea.
Long ago in the temple I noted that all creation always seems to have a pattern of organization in a sack of water and then to come out of water at birth. There is something about this land that comes up from the sea that I will have to consider upon here after.

The flood however, makes a physical change in how time is accounted for as the ages of men decay by half. The flood also represents a baptism which is a mark of a new beginning in the lives of those that receive it. Thus this establishes it as a point of leveling out. It is a mark of sufficient maturity to be baptized at the age of accountability. At this juncture the immediate shortening of the potential life spans of men is an indicator of that accountability. The potential length of a lifetime is predicated upon the state of quickening the matter is in at conception of the life form. Thus we see a lifespan range of potentially 900 plus years for man before the flood to a brief phase of life spans in the 500 range until the days of Peleg when they drop to the 200 or less range. After the Exodus it finally reaches a tapering off point consistent with modern age ranges which seems mostly to have remained a constant. It should be noted that potential life span of individuals is not the life expectancy rate of populations and the variables that are reflected in such calculations. What is a fascinating clue to this is a seeming backwards analogy when compared to the lifespan reduction evidence of the Old Testament.
2 Nephi 2:21
And the days of the children of amen were prolonged, according to the will of God, that they might repent while in the flesh; wherefore, their state became a state of probation, and their time was lengthened, according to the commandments which the Lord God gave unto the children of men. For he gave commandment that all men must repent; for he showed unto all men that they were lost, because of the transgression of their parents.
If life spans are decreasing, how do we reconcile this verse with the Old Testament pattern that the days of man were less? This paradox is easily answered in the considerations of quickening. For though our days were less, our sense of perceptions relative to the speed of light of the perfected state from whence our origin was such that we see the passage as equal to a much greater time when viewed in a higher state of quickening. In essence this is an aspect of the theory of relativity.
Relativity applies to very high energy realms: fast moving objects (fast = near the speed of light) and/or large masses (large = solar mass)….Accelerated motion and gravitational fields can "warp" spacetime. (http://www.lasalle.edu/~smithsc/Astronomy/RelQM.html)
The other sciences that could be of value in this consideration is quantum mechanics and particle physics in the area of fundamental interactions but my investigation into the details of the subject seem to conclude that these fields are not defined enough to dependably provide answers and secondly I am not the person that can show how it would be useful in determining actualities. My point will have to be left at the realization that there is a science that deals with aspects of the concepts I am positing and that the things I am describing can be actually realistically considered by those of more extensive background in theses arena’s.

Each of the conditions noted in these transition phases can be the result of settling in conditions of a world that has achieved a place far enough away from the origin point and has begun to settle into a less influenced pattern of revolution around its single sun. This is as opposed to any effecting factors from various points encountered in the fall where gravitational encounters from other influences could cause magnetic shifts, weather pattern shifts etc. As these settling conditions each are less dramatic than the previous the causal clues reduce in magnitude. From initial mass die offs, and extremes in weather conditions culminating in the flood where a major change in the curve is realized. In the days of Peleg, the continental shifting is of lesser catastrophe but massively significant. To finally the lesser plagues or events that occurred to gain the freedom for the children of Israel as a near complete settling in of the earth in its place in the solar system occurred. So many variables can trigger such events in addition to a falling state that I have not considered any means of specificity of what types of variables might be involved. There is the obvious sun activity but easily many more variables exist.

One fascinating direction emerging in physics is concepts around how we perceive time. Multiple personalities are postulating differing aspects of how our perceptions of time. The current effort to bridge the theories of relativity with the theories in quantum physics by expanding upon the possibilities that have presented themselves from the perspective of the various string theories postulates has produced diverse new ways of looking at time and matter and their interactive potentials.

This is an emerging physical science and my point is not to try to grapple with sustaining LDS theology with emerging research. Instead I simply wish to examine the nature of some of the possibilities that are being discussed. This series of quotes is designed in show that while there is much more work to be done the vista’s that are opening are those that are referenced in LDS creational theology. Consider the following:

Here is another quote from the Brian Greene interview that perhaps might be applicable to the state of quickening as used in the scriptures:
…gravity, as you say, is not as fundamental an element of the makeup of reality as we once we thought. The way I like to think about it is temperature. We all know what it means for something to be hot or cold. But the real meaning of hot and cold is not that macroscopic feeling we've learned over the course of 100 years, that if something is hot, its atoms are moving very quickly. Or if it's cold, its atoms are moving very slowly. So temperature is an emergent property of the speed of the constituent particles. And maybe the case that gravity emerges from some more fundamental underpinning in much the same as the temperature emerges from this fundamental idea of the speed particles.
As posited in this document, a state of quickening that would be a requirement of a pre-fall sphere, coupled with a hotter greenhouse earth being nearer either multiple suns or perhaps simply nearer our own sun would be influenced by conditions such as Brian Greene describes. Following is another consideration that is in its genesis concerning observations of an accelerated expansion of the Universe.
If time is indeed related to the expansion of space and our time is slowing down then as we make measurements of light emitted by distant supernova (when time was faster) we will be measuring their frequency changes from our slower time. This will give an illusion that the universal expansion is accelerating. Similarly the pioneer anomaly can be explained by slowing of our time during the period the signal travels from earth to pioneer space craft and back. These predictions are not based on any exotic phenomenon but on Einstein’s relativity and can be easily tested. This new approach in understanding of time, motion, and gravity could bring about a revolution in physics. (http://www.timephysics.com/what-causes-time.html)

I apologize for the length of the forgoing material but I just didn't have time to edit it to make it cohesive. There is a bunch more but the remaining portions deal with the speculation that if Adam's body was created using raw materials of a perfected eternal state and those raw materials were derived from an earth pre-fall then the sheer quality of the matter would provide different properties.

As the earth falls in space it continues to degrade in the quality of the matter it is formed of as it becomes more corrupt as the fall moves towards it's final corrupted mortality state from which it is ultimately redeemed:

Therefore, all things shall be restored to their proper order, every thing to its natural frame—mortality raised to immortality, corruption to incorruption—raised to endless happiness to inherit the kingdom of God, or to endless misery to inherit the kingdom of the devil, the one on one hand, the other on the other—
It is possible that, as the above diagram illustrates, as the matter becomes more corrupted it is different from matter that Adam's body was comprised of. Thus we see the declining ages as a natural result of the process of a fall from states of perfected matter to states of increasingly corrupted matter until we get to where we are now with life spans around 80 years or so.

Cain, the first murderer, probably had little reason to avoid the eating of meat after slaying his brother. Once you've killed a human, there might be few internal barriers to killing a deer or a bird for food.
I think you may be right Silver. Genesis 4:11-12

"11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth."

Since Cain was a tiller of the earth and the earth would no longer yield her strenth to him, he may have had to resort to eating animals to survive.

Life expectancy went way down after the flood, prolly due to a change in the plant life. The animals were aboard the ark, but the plants suffered. Niagen is a concentration of B3 found as in trace amounts in milk and TA65 is a concentration of plants in China where it takes tons of roots to produce a few milligrams, making it very expensive. These are just a couple of the nutrients recently discovered. Image

No, little, or lesser:
cunning plans of wicked men bent on gain at the expense of pain, suffering, and death;
generational traumas being passed down;
earth dying from "natural" causes;
earth dying from wicked and greedy men bent on gain;
electromagentic situations.

If wicked men were bacteria/ viruses, and the earth were a body...?

What an interesting perspective.

Adam was given enough time to accomplish this:

Moses
19 And out of the ground I, the Lord God, formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and commanded that they should come unto Adam, to see what he would call them; and they were also living souls; for I, God, breathed into them the breath of life, and commanded that whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that should be the name thereof.

And so the beasts can come back just like we can, to be renewed.

D&C 29:24 (24–25)
24 For all old things shall pass away, and all things shall become new, even the heaven and the earth, and all the fulness thereof, both men and beasts, the fowls of the air, and the fishes of the sea;

Oh, just what is the "breath of life, or Spirit of life?" Is it literal breath of God? Is it when a spirit enters a body? Is it when a heart begins to pump? Anybody ever wondered?

breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, Gen. 2:7 (Moses 3:4–7, 19; Abr. 5:7).

in whose nostrils was the breath of life, Gen. 7:22.

In whose hand is … the breath of all mankind, Job 12:10.

the breath of the Almighty hath given me life, Job 33:4.

thou takest away their breath, they die, Ps. 104:29.

His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth, Ps. 146:4.

he that giveth breath unto the people, Isa. 42:5.

I will cause breath to enter into you, Ezek. 37:5.

breath came into them, and they lived, Ezek. 37:10.

formeth the spirit of man within him, Zech. 12:1.

giveth to all life, and breath, Acts 17:25.

Spirit of life from God entered into them, Rev. 11:11.

(Phys.org)—A team of researchers with affiliations to several universities in the U.S. has found evidence that suggests that cosmic rays striking balls of ice floating around in interstellar clouds can cause the formation of more complex molecules, possibly including those that are believed to be precursors to life. ... https://phys.org/news/2016-07-cosmic-ra ... ellar.html

I was totally amazed by Niagen when I started taking it a couple of years ago; while still helpful the first year was incredible.

Now there's Basis from Elysium and I just ordered a bottle to check out what adding Pterostilbene does. :-\

It has only 2 ingredients.
Nicotinamide Riboside 250mg
Pterostilbene 50mg ... https://www.reddit.com/r/Nootropics/com ... bel_prize/

Many of these building blocks of life may have been prevalent it plant life before the flood. Image

But then I'd also recommend you read Nibley's 13 part series "A Strange Thing in the Land the Return of the Book of Enoch" from the Ensign for history and correlation first.

And then I can't help but suggest reading The Book of Enoch as well. 😉
Oh my goodness! I loved reading that series!

Brian M used to have a talk available on his other website "latterdayconservative.com' which was a conversation with W Cleon Skousen at his home about a year before he died.

Cleon was totally relaxed and candidly discussed a whole range of subjects, doctrines, some previously unknown areas like what he thought about Bruce R McConkie etc. It was one of the best talks ever.

When the subject of Adam came up, Cleon said that Adam never died, at the end of his earthly mission, which was probably just under a 1000 years, he just sloughed off the earthly matter and returned to glory.
