Read it last year in one day. Very good book. I echo the prophets words that everyone should read it. He stated this in general conference. How many LDS have done this?

holy crap, i always believed this quote to be a good sounding false doctrine of the philosophy of men.
sometimes its its more EVIL to go to church than to stay home.

SHADOWS OF POWER by James Perloff is what I'd call an updated version of NONE DARE CALL IT CONSPIRACY. During the April 1972 conference address in which Ezra Taft Benson recommended NDCIC he also recommended 2 other books that address secret combinations, MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN by H. Verlan Andersen, and PROPHETS, PRINCIPLES AND NATIONAL SURVIVAL by Jerreld Newquist.

It seems pretty clear to me that most LDS people do not want to deal with with the problem of secret combinations, in spite of admonitions by Moroni, President Benson and President Packer .

Our stake president, who is a BYU graduate. read part of it and told me it is "mostly a bunch of bunk".

So what does he know? I'm a high school grad and I believe it is not bunk. What he is implying is that President Benson was a kook. Typical for many LDS members that have no interest in secret combinations or threats and dangers to our country.
