Cold Sweeps the Southern Hemisphere Major Crop Damage
Record cold engulfs South America decimating crops and leaving a wake of frost destruction and hundreds of thousands with out power. All the while main stream media touts a few degrees over normal in NYC. They forgot absolute anomalous cold and frost event that crossed the entire continent of South America. It was -8C in areas where average temperatures for this time of year are 17C. Crop losses are in the same areas as cold damage to agriculture last year. The 2017 losses will be tallied over the next weeks and it looks at early estimations of nearly 100% losses for fruit inn Southern Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Where is the coverage on this in the main stream media

It's winter right now in the southern hemisphere. Isn't normally cold in winter?
And what crops do they grow in the winter?

Winter wheat can withstand temperatures of -30C, so I don't think so.Silver wrote: ↑July 21st, 2017, 2:18 pmWinter wheat, sir.Robin Hood wrote: ↑July 21st, 2017, 2:05 pmI get that.David13 wrote: ↑July 21st, 2017, 12:41 pmIt is winter in the Southern Hemisphere Robby, but what he is remarking about is an exceptionally cold winter. Actually, if I'm only a bit thick, I'll settle for that.

Off-topic, but a new movie "Dunkirk" is receiving some good reviews here. How about there in the UK? Have you heard of it? If you know anything about it, is the movie close to factual?

I've heard the same as you. Apparently it's very good and re-creates the heroic and miraculous "defeat" at Dunkirk quite well. Inevitably there will be some artistic licence, there always is.Silver wrote: ↑July 21st, 2017, 10:58 pmOne needs a thick skull to protect the precious grey matter nestled inside.Robin Hood wrote: ↑July 21st, 2017, 10:52 pmOops, sorry. I had a client many years ago who was one of the soldiers evacuated from Dunkirk. He said the local French were shooting at them too, but you won't find that in any history book, and probably not in the film either!
There was some comment in the press over here lamenting the fact that none of the lead roles depict women or black people. The PC brigade always have to say something. But there were no female combatants at Dunkirk, and you would be hard pressed to find a black man in the British army at that time. Later in the war soldiers from the West Indies joined British regiments, but not as early as Dunkirk.
But I'm not a film goer as a rule. The last time I went to the cinema was to see The Passion of the Christ, about 12 years ago I think. And before that it was the Matrix.
You'll probably see Dunkirk before I do!
