I guess California's drought is over, unfortunately the there is so much water, the dam couldn't let it out fast enough.
The spillway broke, now the emergency spillway is in use but can't keep up.

It's the spillway that's in danger. It has been suffering damage for days and was being watched. The dam is not threatened, it's just the spillway. That's where they normally let out water.
There is also a large emergency spillway that lets out water when the lake rises to that point. It has been spilling water all day today. That emergency spillway was never activated before in all the years the dam was there. It basically self activates.
If the spillway fails, I don't know how much downstream damage will result.
They are releasing more water and that may work.
We shall see.
