FBI interviewed dead Boston bombing suspect years ago

The FBI admitted Friday they interviewed the now-deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev two years ago and failed to find any incriminating information about him.

New details emerge on lives of Boston bombing suspects

As first reported by CBS News correspondent Bob Orr, the FBI interviewed Tsarnaev, the elder brother of at-large bombing suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, at the request of a foreign government to see if he had any extremist ties, but failed to find any linkage.

Both Tsarnaev brothers were legal permanent residents of the U.S. There is no evidence so far that either brother received any tactical training.

CBS News correspondent John Miller reports it is likely Russia asked to have the elder Tsarnaev vetted because of suspected ties to Chechen extremists.

The FBI is likely to have run a background check, running his name through all the relevant databases, including those of other agencies, checking on his communications and all of his overseas travel. Miller reports that culminated in a sit-down interview where they probably asked him a lot of questions about his life, his contacts, his surroundings. All of this was then written in a report and sent it to the requesting government.

This is an issue they've had in the past. They interviewed Carlos Bledsoe in Little Rock, Ark., before he shot up an Army recruiting station in 2009. They were also looking into Major Hasan Nadal before the Fort Hood shootings.

However, the FBI has maintained in those incidents that they took all the steps they were asked to and were allowed to under the law.

Although the FBI initially denied contacting Tsarnaev, the brothers' mother said they had in an interview with Russia Today.

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva said her son got involved in "religious politics" about five years ago, and never told her he was involved in "jihad."

She insisted the FBI "knew what he was doing on Skype" and that they counseled him "every step of the way."

Tsarnaeva, who is a U.S. citizen currently in Russia, told Russia Today the FBI had called her with concerns about her elder son, although she did not specify when exactly she was contacted.

Pope Francis has said " I don't have very much time" . Whatever that means. He is also a Jesuit , if you are not up on Jesuit doctrine etc,. it may surprise you . I don't think it will be the FBI that whacks the pope. Who knows?

The Right to Information is the Right to Justice: Declassified Documents and the Assassination of the Jesuits in El Salvador
November 16, 2009

Washington, DC, November 16, 2014 – Twenty five years have passed since the horrifying murders in El Salvador of six Jesuit priests, their housekeeper and her daughter, during a rampage by Salvadoran security forces in the early morning hours of November 16, 1989, on the campus of the University of Central America (UCA) in the country's capital. It has been twenty five years of grieving by the victims' families and the Jesuit community; and twenty five years of waiting for justice to identify and prosecute the killers.

As they have done on so many other anniversaries of the brutal crime, thousands of Salvadorans and international visitors gathered in San Salvador to commemorate the lives of Father Ignacio Ellacuría Bescoetxea, UCA's rector at the time of his assassination; Father Ignacio Martín-Baró; Father Segundo Montes; Father Armando López; Father Juan Ramón Moreno; Father Joaquín López y López; Julia Elba Ramos and her 13-year-old child Celina Maricet Ramos.

But this year's anniversary is a little different. Although the perpetrators have yet to be brought to trial for their role in planning and ordering the crime, human rights lawyers at the San Francisco-based Center for Justice and Accountability (CJA) believe they are closer than ever to achieving some measure of justice. A case that CJA opened in 2008 before the Spanish National Court under the principle of universal jurisdiction is inching forward, with presiding Judge Eloy Velásquez ruling just over a month ago to continue prosecuting the Jesuit killings , despite the reluctance of the Spanish Parliament to allow Spain to pursue international human rights cases. Velásquez has indicted twenty senior members of El Salvador's military for planning, ordering, or participating in the crime .

The National Security Archive has spent the past quarter of a century collecting declassified US documents on El Salvador, including the Jesuit murders. Hundreds of those documents have been entered as evidence into CJA's Spanish case . Thousands are published in two Digital National Security Archive collections. Today, in commemoration of the deaths, the Archive posts ten documents written by US officials on the day of the murders and during the week that followed.

Taken together, the documents indicate the striking initial unwillingness on the part of the United States to acknowledge the possibility that its closest Central American ally — the Salvadoran armed forces — may have been behind the atrocity. Despite overwhelming evidence of the Army's bitter hostility toward the Jesuits — as documented by the UN Truth Commission report — the first reaction of United States officials on the day of the murders was the imprecise speculation that often served as a default US setting whenever political violence struck in El Salvador: that "extremists on either the right or the left may be responsible," as Ambassador William G. Walker wrote in his earliest cable to Washington about the crime.

The theory was expanded in a lengthy CIA memorandum the following day that dwelled on indications that the killers could have been from the guerrilla forces of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), citing such evidence as, "Civilians reported the presence of 100 insurgents eating and resting on the highway behind the Hoescht factory [near] Ciudad Merliot … two kilometers southwest of the University of Central America …. " On the other hand, wrote the Agency, the killers might have been "rightist extremists," an encoded reference to polarizing rightwing politicians such as Roberto D'Aubuisson — a leading member of the ruling party ARENA — who reportedly made threatening comments about the priests in a talk given hours after they had already been killed. Nowhere in the CIA's analysis was the military mentioned as a possible perpetrator.

In addition to ignoring signs that members of the armed forces had carried out the crime, US officials sought to bolster Salvadoran President Alfredo Cristiani as he prepared to face the possibility that his own party's leadership was responsible for what Walker called "a barbarous and incredibly stupid action." On November 19, Ambassador Walker sent an impassioned (and profoundly wrong) telegram to the State Department focusing on the alleged responsibility of ARENA extremists and proposing that he tell Cristiani that "with the USG [US Government], the leadership and majority of the armed forces officer corps, and the decent forces of Salvadoran society on his side, he can and must once and for all separate himself from those responsible for this barbarism." Meanwhile, Secretary of State James Baker asked his ambassador in Madrid to urge Spain not to cut aid to El Salvador, which it had announced it would do in response to the murder of the Spanish-born priests.

As evidence began to emerge pointing to the Army's role in the killings, the US documents reflected the alarm felt in Washington about its implications. Secretary Baker wrote directly to the Director of the CIA William Webster to request his agency's assistance. "We would appreciate on an urgent basis information regarding the military units present in the area at the time of the killings, and the orders issued to such units." US Assistant Secretary of State Bernard Aronson warned Ambassador Walker to hurry the investigations, arguing that allowing them to become drawn out would likely lead to stonewalling on the part of the Salvadoran government and impunity for the killers. Aronson evidently feared the consequences of publicly airing US suspicions about military responsibility for the killings, pressing Walker to keep his findings secret.

"I cannot stress enough the importance of building as solid a case as possible and then working closely with Cristiani on a strategy. We may be asking Cristiani to do what has never been done, actions which may involve moving against elements of his own party and perhaps even divide the Army. Please hold this information very closely."

By the following year, in 1990, the US could no longer hide what its own investigation had uncovered: that the Salvadoran armed forces "at the highest levels" made the decision to kill the Jesuits.

Now, 25 years later, the United States has a decision to make. Although the Salvadoran government has so far rejected Spain's request for the extradition of suspects in the crime, one of the indicted officers — Col. (Ret.) Inocente Orlando Montano — pled guilty in 2012 to charges of immigration fraud and perjury in a Boston courtroom and was sentenced in 2013 to 21 months in federal prison. Spanish Judge Velásquez is seeking the extradition of Montano to Madrid following completion of his jail term. A US ruling in favor of extradition would permit the Spanish case to proceed to trial and offer families of the eight victims a chance at justice in what has been a long and painful odyssey.

U.S. Embassy in El Salvador
Limited Official Use Cable
November 18, 1989

In this official use cable reporting President Cristiani's request for assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the investigation of the recent murders, Ambassador Walker insists that this crime should not go the way of all the other human rights crimes that had occurred in the 1980's, and presses for a "credible investigation."

Document 6: Ellacuria Assassination
DNSA No. EL01047
U.S. Embassy in El Salvador
Secret Cable
November 19, 1989

Ambassador Walker reports finding the "first substantive evidence" that members of the Nationalist Republican Alliance "might have triggered events which led to [the] murder" of the Jesuit priests at UCA. The Ambassador calls on President Cristiani to recognize the truth about "the right" in his party, and stand up for democracy.

Document 7: [Letter from Secretary of State to CIA Director Requesting Help with Investigation of Jesuit Murders]
DNSA No. EL01048
Department of State, Office of the Secretary
Secret Letter
November 20, 1989

Secretary of State Baker requests help from the Central Intelligence Agency in "developing information" about the perpetrators of the murder of Father Ellacuria and his colleagues. Document 8: Government Investigation of Killings in El Salvador
DNSA No. EL00282
Central Intelligence Agency
Intelligence Memorandum, Classification Excised
November 21, 1989

This CIA intelligence memorandum examines political constraints on President Cristiani as he decides how to move against the perpetrators of the Jesuit murders. The document focuses on the "circumstantial evidence" against Roberto D'Abuisson and the ARENA party. The memo states that Cristiani is "highly sensitive to international criticism of human rights abuses in El Salvador."

Document 9: Demarche on Spanish Policy Toward El Salvador
DNSA No. 01049
Department of State
Confidential Cable
November 22, 1989

This State Department demarche requests that Ambassador Walker counsel Spain to take caution in steps against El Salvador, after reports of suspended aid and the potential for further "retaliatory actions" in response to the murder of the Spanish-born Jesuit priests. The cable includes talking points that emphasize the idea that "too much pressure at this delicate moment could play into the hands of the FMLN guerillas."

Document 10: Ellacuria Assassination
DNSA No. EL01050
Department of State
Secret Cable
November 22, 1989

Assistant Secretary of State Bernard Aronson urges Ambassador Walker to work with President Cristiani to move the case of the Jesuit murders hastily to its next stage. He states: "drawing it out will give those involved the chance to abort our efforts as they did in Romero assassination," referring to the 1980 murder of Archbishop Oscar Romero by killers associated with ARENA leader Roberto D'Aubuisson. Aronson goes on to say that this may involve asking the president to "do what has never been done, actions which may involve moving against elements of his own party." Aronson closes his note with the addendum: "Please hold this information very closely."

Newspapers Snub the Specter of Assassination:

Was Walter Reuther murdered?

In this paper I am going to discuss the death of Walter Reuther and the
suspicious way that the newspapers covered it. My interest in Walter
Reuther arose in part from my experiences as a member of the United Auto
Workers. While at the Walter and May Reuther Educational and Recreational
Center at Black Lake, I saw a film that depicted much about the life of
Walter Reuther and I was fascinated. I wanted to know more about him and
this paper gave me the opportunity to do just that. After completing my
research, I feel that the newspapers engaged in a conspiracy of silence
while reporting on the death of Walter Reuther: they presented information
about the plane crash along with biographical data, but only one paper
addressed the possibility that he may have been murdered.

Walter Reuther died at the age of 62 in a plane crash. He was the dynamic
and charismatic leader of the United Auto Workers (UAW). This second son of
a German immigrant couple was born on September 1, 1907, in Wheeling, West
Virginia. Walter Reuther was born into the labor movement and during his 35
years as a labor leader, he was instrumental in bringing it to its greatest
expansion in American History. His father, Valentine, a socialist, trained
Walter early in trade unionism and encouraged his natural bent for debate.
Walter Reuther was first and foremost a labor organizer, with an
overpowering sense of social justice that shaped his controversial,
temperamental, combustible, and at times unrelenting character. Reuther
developed his passion for social justice from his father. By nature shrewd
and brilliant, he developed a fiery oratorical style that captured the
imagination of millions of supporters. It was not uncommon for Reuther to
hold an audience mesmerized for three or more hours1. As a member of the
UAW, I now enjoy many of the same benefits that Reuther obtained for its
members.

There are some who believe that Reuther was murdered, most especially his
family. It was a dark and rainy night on May 9, 1970 near Pellston,
Michigan. Walter Reuther, his wife May, the architect Oscar Stonorov, a
bodyguard, the pilot and co-pilot were killed in a chartered Lear jet while
en route to the union’s recreational and educational facility at Black Lake.
This new facility had been designed by Oscar Stonorov and was due to be
opened to the membership within a few weeks of the crash. There were three
witnesses who heard the plane before it crashed and then were subsequently
at the scene. Manuel Suarez, a farmer, said “He (the pilot) came over the
house and sounded awful low. It was right above the house, then the sound
stopped and I looked out the window.” Suarez was the first to reach the
crash site and was soon joined by Donald and Sharon Bonter. Sharon Bonter
said “I saw a huge light from our house. I heard a couple of small booms
before the light.”2

In October of 1968, a year and a half before the fatal crash, Reuther and
his brother Victor were almost killed in a small private plane as it
approached Dulles Airport. Luckily for the Reuther brothers, the sky was
clear and the pilots realized the plane was too low and the altimeter was
malfunctioning. The pilots managed a crash landing that allowed all on
board to walk away without injury. Both incidents are amazingly similar;
the altimeter in the fatal crash was believed to have malfunctioned. When
Victor Reuther was interview many years after the fatal crash he said “I
and other family members are convinced that both the fatal crash and the
near fatal one in 1968 were not accidental.”3

There was only one article in the Detroit Free Press that detailed some of
the previous murder attempts on the lives of Walter and Victor Reuther. I
found it strange that only one of the five newspapers discussed the murder
attempts. This article was printed on May 11, 1970. It concentrates on
the murder attempts that occurred in 1948 and 1949, the investigation, and
the reward for information raised by the union. I believe that the murder
attempt in 1938 had been retribution for his union activities at Ford Motor
Company. The article suggests that the two incidents in 1948 and 1949, were
similar because they had been committed by hidden assailants who stood
behind house-side bushes, and fired shotgun blasts through a window. Some
details of the attempts are:

1) In April 1938, two masked gunmen forced their way into Walter Reuther’s
home and tried to abduct him. One of the dinner guests managed to escape
and call for help. The assailants were caught and acquitted in a trial that
was a sham. One of the defendants provided security for Ford Motor Company.
The jury was packed with Ford supporters and the lawyer for the defense
claimed that Ruether had staged the event.4
2) In April 1948, they tried to kill Walter Reuther with shotgun blasts in
his home. Reuther said: “I went to the icebox to get a bowl of fruit salad,
my wife was just a foot from me. I had just made that step and the dish in
my hand just flew into a thousand pieces. In fact, the impact of the thing
knocked me down on the floor, and I tried to get up and I got my arm tangled
up as thought it had been torn off. I couldn’t get up, and I lay there flat
on my back for a second or two. They shot through the both the regular
window and the storm window in the kitchen, and I just lay there on the
floor until they came and took me to the hospital.” He suffered chest and
arm wounds that never allowed him to recover the full use of his right arm
and hand.
3) Victor Reuther was almost killed in 1949 by what appeared to be law
enforcement officials. The Detroit Police claimed that neighbors had been
complaining about his barking dog. The next evening after Victor had given
the dog to family friends, he was shot in the head while in his home. He
suffered the loss of part of his right eye and parts of his jaw.
4) There was an attempt in 1949 to bomb the UAW’s headquarters in Detroit.
The Detroit Police nor J. Edgar Hoover’s Federal Bureau of Investigation
attempted to discover who the perpetrators were.5
Why doesn’t anyone seem to find it strange that this article was not enough
to spur local or national attention nor any debate in the other newspapers?

If Walter Reuther was indeed murdered or assassinated, there are others with
political enemies and bents toward social justice who have preceded him.
Consider the assassinations of the following individuals:
1) John Fitzgerald Kennedy our 35th president was murdered on November 22,
1963 while visiting Dallas, Texas. Although he and his brother were from a
very wealthy and affluent family, he sought to promote social change and
justice for the victims of discrimination in this country.6
2) Malcolm X was murdered on February 21, 1965. He was labeled a radical
black civil rights activist with ties to the Nation of Islam. He felt that
violence towards those that would do him and his supporters harm was
necessary.7
3) Martin Luther King was murdered on April 4, 1968. He was a black civil
rights activist who advocated change through non-violent means.8
4) Senator Robert Francis Kennedy former Attorney General under JFK’s
administration died on June 6, 1968, one day after he was shot at point
blank range to the head. He had recently announced his candidacy for
president on March 16, 1968 and had just finished giving a speech to his
supporters.9
All of these men were heavily involved in civil rights and the move toward
social justice for all Americans. Why is it that no one seems to find it
curious that some of the major voices for social change were silenced within
such a short span of time?

Father Charles Coughlin was an outspoken Roman Catholic priest at the Shrine of the Little Flower Church in Royal Oak, MI. He founded a weekly publication entitled “Social Justice” and shared his political views during his weekly radio show, broadcast every Sunday. Father Coughlin created a political party, the National Union of Social Justice, in opposition to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and in the late 1930s even called for his impeachment, due to what he viewed as socialist or communist leanings. Sympathy for the fascist politics of Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini resulted in security investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). His papers consist of photocopies, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, of communications produced by the FBI during these investigations.

An F.B.I. Inquiry Fed by Informer Emerges in Analysis of Documents

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's sweeping inquiry into a group opposed to United States policy in Central America was largely fueled by an undercover informer who has said he invented much of his information.

The informer, Frank Varelli, a former evangelist from El Salvador, told a Congressional subcommittee last year that the investigation of supposed terrorist links had simply been an excuse for the F.B.I. to intimidate opponents of American foreign policy.

Although his credibility was questioned at the time and the hearings were quickly dropped, recently released F.B.I. documents show that the thrust of his account was essentially correct. Furthermore, the files suggest, Mr. Varelli helped keep the inquiry going with information that a key Congressman describes as ''laughable.''

How this all came about will be the subject of new Congressional hearings scheduled for later this month.

The F.B.I.'s investigation, which first gained wide attention through release of bureau files late last month, lasted nearly five years and involved thousands of hours of work in at least 52 of the agency's 59 bureaus. It officially ended in 1985 with no indictments, but the consequences promise continuing embarrassment for the Government. Car Burglary and a Lawsuit

Documents show, for example, that Mr. Varelli's cover in the investigation was blown when his supervising F.B.I. agent reported losing everything -gun, badge, files - in a car burglary. Because the files contained information on Mr. Varelli's undercover role and it was not known whose hands they had fallen into, the bureau considered his identity compromised and ended his role in the inquiry.

Now, in another twist, Mr. Varelli is suing the bureau for $65,000 in pay that he says in a court document was ''stolen'' from him.

The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, William S. Sessions, conceded at a news conference last week that the target of the investigation, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, ''was involved in political activities involving First Amendment rights - and not international terrorism.''

Mr. Sessions, supported by President Reagan, vigorously defended the investigation, which was conducted while William H. Webster, now Director of Central Intelligence, was the F.B.I. Director. But neither has explained how the investigation became so large and longlasting. 'Just Got Out of Hand

Putting together the entire picture of the inquiry from the newly released documents alone is a bit like assembling a jigsaw puzzle with two-thirds of the pieces missing. The documents represent only about a third of the 3,756 pages the F.B.I. has concerning the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, or Cispes.

However, information is available from other sources, including the Congressional inquiry at which Mr. Varelli testified at length about his role in the Cispes inquiry, F.B.I. corroboration of key parts of that role in court documents in response to Mr. Varelli's suit for back pay, other Congressional inquiries and information, and an analysis of the disclosed documents themselves.

Together, they provide a rare look into a clandestine Federal investigation that Representative Don Edwards of California, who is planning the Congressional inquiry, said had a legitimate basis at first ''but just got out of hand.'' An Inquiry In Two Phases

The bureau began investigating Cispes in 1981 for possible violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act. That act requires that individuals or agencies acting on behalf of any foreign entity register with the Federal Government.

It was also in 1981, in March, that Frank Varelli became a paid informer for the bureau's Dallas office.

The investigation took 18 months and ended with no indictments or other action against Cispes. But the newly disclosed documents show that the inquiry was renewed a few months later, on March 30, 1983, under the far more sweeping authority of an inquiry into international terrorism.

Such inquiries are allowed under Executive Order 12333, signed by President Reagan in December 1981. The order provides that, unlike other criminal inquiries, no specific suspicion of crime need exist to justify domestic surveillance if there was probable cause to suspect a terrorist threat.

The precise guidelines for such inquiries remain secret. But in a court document, George V. Van Balen, Unit Chief of the F.B.I.'s International Terrorism-Global Unit in Washington, stated that the inquiries covered ''groups and individuals who could possibly represent a terrorist threat within the United States, or aid and abet others who would undertake violent terrorist activities.'' Varied Responses in the Field

When the investigation began to spread from Cispes to a long list of purported ''front'' organizations, including unions and religious groups, some F.B.I. offices were confused, others were lukewarm and still others were eager to pursue the quarry, the files show.

The Denver office observed that ''in spite of attempts by the bureau to clarify guidelines and goals for this investigation,'' the field office is ''not sure of how much seemingly legitimate political activity can be monitored.''

Hoover statue a big bust at FBI ultimate G-man just got busted down to storage.

A waxlike, life-size figure of J. Edgar Hoover, which was recently installed among other memorabilia in the FBI’s New York field office, has been removed because of objections from bureau personnel.

The decision to oust Hoover, who was the FBI’s director for 48 years and served under 10 presidents, is something of a cultural moment for the bureau. Once revered among FBI agents, Hoover is no longer universally admired at the organization he built.

“There are no plans to display him again,” said Michael Kortan, assistant director of the FBI’s Office of Public Affairs.

Today’s agents and other employees dislike the history he represents, which includes secret campaigns to spy on and discredit political enemies, anti-war activists and civil-rights leaders such as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Women were also unwelcome in Hoover’s bureau. By 1928, four years after he became acting director, all three female agents had resigned, and it was not until 1972, the year Hoover died, that women were again invited to apply to be special agents.

Today, about 20 percent of FBI special agents are women.

Current FBI Director James Comey has invoked Hoover’s legacy to warn new agents about the exercise of their powers.

In a speech at Georgetown University in February, Comey said he makes new agents and analysts study the FBI’s relationship with King and visit his memorial so they can ponder the mistakes of the past. Comey also said that he keeps a letter on his desk from then-Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy approving Hoover’s baseless request to wiretap King’s telephone calls.

“The reason I do those things is to ensure that we remember our mistakes and that we learn from them,” Comey said. “So we must talk about our history. It is a hard truth that lives on.”

FBI officials said that sending the Hoover figure to New York seemed to be a harmless idea at first. The figure — a jowly, stern-faced Hoover dressed in a dark suit — was originally on display in Washington at the FBI headquarters building, which is named after Hoover, but the figure had been in storage for

Watch: US Justice System Hits Rock Bottom, Admits It Has Problem

http://www.eastbayexpress.com/Legalizat ... as-problem" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Addiction specialists often say admitting a problem is the first step toward recovery. Well, VICE magazine, in conjunction with HBO, released on Monday for free an hour-long bombshell documentary that depicts the US criminal justice system hitting rock bottom, with both President Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder saying the system is broken.

The president says it could be anyone’s family that can be shattered by this system, which Senator Cory Booker says is set up to “crush” low-income Americans. The criminal justice system is institutionally biased according to race, “particularly when you think about non-violent drug offenses,” Holder says. “It’s not normal.”

In related news, the FBI released new data yesterday showing US marijuana arrests rose to more than 700,000 in 2014. Almost 90 percent of those arrests were for simple possession. One person will be arrested for marijuana about every minute, which means while you read this, someone just got cuffed. Blacks are up to thirty times more likely as whites to be arrested for pot in the United States, despite similar usage rates.

As VICE documents, one out of every three black children born in the United States today will go to jail at least once in their lives. VICE features a former federal judge who says mandatory minimum sentencing laws enacted by Congress in the Eighties and Clinton in the Nineties are wildly unjust. Sex offenders and rapists get far less time than fathers and sons with non-violent drug offenses.

Folks are pleading guilty and serving fifteen years in federal prison rather than face potentially life for “ghost dope” — conspiracy charges based on hearsay evidence. Mandatory minimums are so terrifying, the federal system has a 97 percent guilty plea rate. It is prosecutors, not judges, who now decide time served.

America is also dealing with the generational consequences of fifty years of mass incarceration. The nation has families in which three generations of males have done time. There are 1.1 million fathers behind bars. There are more Black folks in state custody than there were slaves in 1850.

When convicts get out, they’re barred from getting a job, credit, food stamps, college loans, and housing. States are also releasing citizens with huge debts and re-arresting them when they can’t pay them. With no diploma and a record, it’s no wonder 50 percent reoffend within one year. It’s barbaric.

A bipartisan effort is underway in Congress to reform the entire system, due to both its immense fiscal and human costs. We’re spending $80 billion a year on “corrections” systems that do not c

Who would want to assassinate the Pope. I believe that he is in fact a very effective tool promoting socialism and globalism. He has called for action on man-made climate change, called for the US to accept all immigrants wanting freedom and prosperity, and for amnesty for people in the United States illegally. I think he is effective at influencing a soft-thinking majority of people to an agenda that I believe is calculated to lead America yet further away from the principles of what is left of our constitutional republic and into a centralized socialist world government.

As a martyr, maybe, to arouse bitterness toward so-called conservatives.

Public Release: 1-Oct-2015
Coincidence or conspiracy? Studies investigate conspiracist thinking

Association for Psychological Science

In pop culture, conspiracy believers -- like FBI agent Fox Mulder on The X Files or professor Robert Langdon in The Da Vinci Code -- tend to reject the notion of coincidence or chance; even the most random-seeming events are thought to result from some sort of intention or design. And researchers have suggested that such a bias against randomness may explain real-world conspiracy beliefs. But new research from psychological scientists at the University of Fribourg and the University of Paris-Saint-Denis shows no evidence for a link between conspiracist thinking and perceptions of order, design, or intent.

The findings are published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

"We could not confirm our initial hypothesis that the tendency to reject randomness, or to perceive order and meaning where there is only noise, was associated with the endorsement of conspiracy theories," explains lead researcher Sebastian Dieguez. "Although negative findings are usually unpopular in scientific journals, we think our results are valuable because they contradict a widely held and quite plausible idea of what leads to conspiracist thinking. By ruling out a very straightforward and cognitively simple mechanism, we narrow down the range of explanations for the popularity of conspiracy theories."

To investigate the relationship between conspiracist beliefs and perceptions of randomness, the researchers designed three separate experiments in which participants were asked to look at strings of 12 Xs and Os that supposedly represented a series of outcomes.

In the first experiment, 107 university student participants were told that some of the strings were created using a fair coin and were, therefore, random; they were also told that other strings represented non-random outcomes, such as computer calculations or a sports team's wins and losses. The participants were presented with a series of 40 such strings -- for each one, they were asked to rate the randomness of the string on a scale of 1 (certainly random) to 6 (certainly not random).

In a purportedly unrelated "translation" task, participants completed measures that gauged their general belief in conspiracy theories, their belief in specific conspiracy theories (such as the Apollo 11 moon landing

For the FBI to maintain control over the American public using
fear in a intermittent reenforcement schedule is no
easy task if you don't want to be caught.

You would figure if you are the FBI law enforcement
agency investigating the terrorist event you
just committed you can control the flow of
evidence.

Just look at the FBI President Kennedy and
Martin Luther King assassination.

Members of the US Military provided
assistance to FBI agents in the
two latter events.

For the OKlahoma City bombing
and 911 the US Military supplied
the FBI with the Satchel Charges for the
Murragh Building collapse.
For the 911 World Trade Center
Nano Thermetic explosive material.
US Military Anthrax and for
the 911 Pentagon attack a cruise missile.
For TWA Flight 800 a stinger missile.
The Boston FBI office supplied the C4
explosives used in the Omargh bombing.

middle of the Quantic Virginia Marine base.

Not on her watch: Terror expert takes lead at FBI's office in Orange County

Oct. 9, 2015

ORANGE – Jill Sanborn brings a particular focus to her new job as assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s 160-plus agent office in Orange County.

Terrorism.

“The biggest thing I want my agents to do is ... take every threat, every tip, every allegation and investigate it so Orange County is safe,” Sanborn said.

There are a couple of reasons for that. The first is the FBI, which has become so focused on terrorism that Sanborn describes it as the agency’s “No. 1 priority.”

The second is Sanborn herself.

At 45, she’s a 17-year FBI veteran and an anti-terrorism specialist. She’s run more than 400 terrorism investigations in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of Southeast Asia.

A key stop in her career was her work at the bureau’s counter-terrorism division in Phoenix.

Her first day on that post?

Sept. 11, 2001.

“At that time, remembering back, America had no idea where it was going to be hit next,” Sanborn said.

That’s still true.

But since the attacks the FBI, and Sanborn, have shifted their mindset. And in the process they’ve gotten pretty good at figuring out who might be coming after us next, and where they might strike.

WorldNetDaily.com

“God I hope there’s no Middle Eastern connection to this.”

So confided an anxious President Bill Clinton to Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating in the immediate aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing in April 1995.

That presidential sentiment--as cited in the in December 2006 report by the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Internationals Relations Committee—would go a long way towards shaping the investigation that followed.

On February 17, convicted OKC bomber Terry Lynn Nichols served up his most detailed public statement since the Oklahoma City bombing, a useful complement to the report by the House subcommittee and its chairman, Congressman Dana Rohrbacher.

True to form, the major media largely ignored Nichols’ declaration as they did the report, but they have done so at the risk of their own credibility. There is a major story brewing here.

Attorney Jesse Trentadue secured Nichols’ signed and sealed declaration as part on his ongoing legal battle to wrangle the truth out of the FBI in regards to the Oklahoma City bombing in general and his own brother’s death in particular. Trentadue is convinced that his brother was tortured and murdered in an Oklahoma prison in August 1995 in the mistaken belief that he was Timothy McVeigh’s accomplice in the bombing.

To be sure, Nichols’ testimony is incomplete and self-serving. Much of what he says cannot be taken at face value. Nevertheless, on many key points, his testimony squares much better with the evidence and with common sense than does the account McVeigh provided for the book, American Terrorist, an account which was more or less echoed by the government at his trial.

In his declaration, Nichols admits his culpability in the OKC bombing. That goes without saying. What is newsworthy is his willingness to “identify others who played a role in the bombing.” His ostensible motive is to bring closure to himself and to the families.

To set the record straight, Nichols claims to have sent a letter to Attorney General John Ashcroft in September 2004. He received no response and contends that he has been thwarted ever since by the FBI, Department of Justice, and the Bureau of Prisons.

This claim is very likely true. In his own investigation into the bombing, which concluded in December 2006, Congressman Rohrbacher complained of comparable obstruction from the FBI and the Department of Justice. “Congressional investigators should not face such resistance in doing their job,” he laments.

Despite the lack of cooperation, Rohrbacher came to the conclusion that Nichols and McVeigh did not act alone. Affirms Nichols, “Congressman Rohrbacher was correct about the others unknown.”

Nichols contends that there are multiple others, some unknown to him. Two of them, however, he chooses to name, both of whom “are now being protected by the federal government in a cover up to escape its responsibility for the loss of life in Oklahoma.”

One of those Nichols names is gun dealer and “government provocateur,” Roger Moore. Nichols makes a detailed and compelling case that Moore provided some of the explosives used in the construction of the bomb.

Nichols contends that Moore, in cahoots with McVeigh, set up the robbery of his own house in part to distance himself from the eventual use of those explosives. Nichols, who had never met Moore, did the actual job so Moore would have added deniability.

During the robbery Nichols took boxes of nitromethane, and afterwards he stashed them under his own house in Herington, Kansas. It was in order to implicate Moore in the OKC bombing that Nichols leaked information about this explosives cache in March 2005. Thanks to a tip from the late Stephen Dresch and his colleague Angela Clemente, this story was first reported in full in WorldNetDaily.

According to Rohrbacher, the FBI did not follow up on Nichols’ leak “until members of Congress were alerted.” As reported here, the FBI delayed four weeks—until late in the day on which Terry Schiavo died—before retrieving the explosives.

The following day, a Friday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced its absurdly lenient punishment of Sandy Berger, a classic “media dump.” With Pope John Paul II dying a day later, the media had all the excuse it needed to ignore both stories.

Curiously, this same DOJ has proved zealous in its pursuit of Scooter Libby and others known and unknown in the Valerie Plame affair, an affair of little consequence that the media have reported with gusto. As I have previously documented, Justice is heavily peopled by careerists with long institutional memories and strong Democratic sympathies.

As to the second named conspirator, Nichols offers some highly provocative hearsay. “McVeigh was extremely upset and angry,” Nichols attests. “There, in what I believe was an accidental slip of the tongue, McVeigh revealed the identity of a high-ranking FBI official who was apparently directing McVeigh in the bomb plot.”

That official was none other than Larry Potts, the one time Deputy Director of the FBI and the bete noire of the populist right. As Nichols recounts his conversation with McVeigh, “Potts had something to do with the change in targets.”

Nichols is likely telling the truth here. He has no reason to lie. It is McVeigh who was almost assuredly prevaricating. McVeigh’s evidence squares with no known evidence and no recognizable logic.

It is altogether possible, if not likely, that the FBI and the ATF had informants in the squirrelly radical community of Elohim City, Oklahoma with which McVeigh was in undeniable contact.

There is, however, a major difference between an informant and an agent, and an agent and a deputy director like Potts. Officials like Potts don’t orchestrate murderous conspiracies. They cover their own backsides when something—like, say, a sting--goes awry.

Potts had in the past proved fully capable of obstruction. Just three months after the OKC bombing, FBI Director Louis Freeh was forced to remove him from his position after the truth surfaced about his inglorious role in the cover-up of the 1992 shooting death of the wife and son of Randy Weaver, radical separatist in Ruby Ridge, Idaho.

.

Much more useful is the light Nichols sheds on the construction of the bomb. As I have reported previously and illustrated in the video Mega Fix, the McVeigh that one meets in American Terrorist is a powerful and creative superman. He somehow taught himself how to build a massive truck bomb and was even prepared to assemble the 7,000-pound monster himself--in one morning.

This would have meant loading onto his rented truck 108 fifty-pound bags of ammonium nitrate, three 400-pound drums of liquid nitromethane, several crates of highly explosive Tovex sausage, spools of shock tube and cannon fuse and the 55-gallon drums to measure and mix these materials in.

As McVeigh told it, Terry Nichols showed up at his Kansas storage facility when he was half way through the loading process and then only because he was afraid of what McVeigh would do to his family if he did not.

The pair then drove to a nearby lake and spent the next three hours mixing the thirteen 500-pound barrels of explosives. When finished, they added seventeen bags of ANFO. Although McVeigh claimed to have been a self-taught bomb-maker, he had no particular mechanical gifts. Still, he managed not only to mix and load all these elements precisely but also to design and perfectly execute a dual-fuse ignition system.

A Washington Post article from a week after the blast—when the truth was still being shared and reported—suggests the improbability of this story.

“Law enforcement sources,” reads The Post, “said the 4,800-pound bomb that caused the explosion probably required at least two to three people to construct and considerable patience and planning. Building such a device ‘would be extremely labor-intensive.’” The bomb that McVeigh described proved to be half again bigger than that and built by two inexperienced guys in one morning.

Nichols throws a ton of cold water on the McVeigh saga. “The bomb that I helped McVeigh build,” he says, probably truthfully, “did not resemble in any fashion the bomb McVeigh described in the book American Terrorist.”

Yes, they loaded the materials on the truck and put the fertilizer and the nitromethane in the plastic barrels, but neither he nor McVeigh “mixed or attempted to mix the fertilizer and the nitromethane.”

The reason was simple enough. This would have taken “a level of expertise and sophistication neither McVeigh nor I had in building a bomb.”

McVeigh’s post-conviction story of his labors largely tracked with the prosecution’s. After constructing the bomb, he allegedly drove alone towards Oklahoma in the loaded truck. After crossing the Oklahoma border, he stopped for the night at a small gravel lot near a conveniently unnamed “roadside motel.”

By his own timeline, however, McVeigh would have reached this motel about 2 PM. That makes for a really long and pointless night. Here, Nichols’ more truthful account opens a critical new line of inquiry.

McVeigh left Kansas with an incomplete bomb, one in a V shape, not in the more potent J shape McVeigh described in American Terrorist. According to Nichols, McVeigh’s bomb “required more bomb making materials than what was in the Herington storage shed.”

Still, presuming McVeigh’s timeline is accurate—and Nichols does not correct it--McVeigh would have had of plenty of time to add materials, reshape the bomb and mix the components once he got to Oklahoma, provided, of course, that he had highly skilled help.

Nichols did not accompany McVeigh across the border, and he plays fully ignorant as to “the identities of the individuals seen with McVeigh” either when he rented the truck or when he drove it to the Murrah Building. As part of his posture as a coerced patsy, Nichols offers not a word of insight into any Islamic connection in Oklahoma or in the Philippines.

Indeed, despite his eagerness to tell his story without the FBI present, Nichols refused a second and, this time, private meeting with Rohrbacher because Rohrbacher wanted to talk about his five trips to the Philippines, the last just months before the bombing.

Cognitive dissonance is a fear of the truth
By Jack Ferm -

Some people, if they could, would like to kill the messenger because they’re afraid of the message. Their mind is closed to anything that could disturb their perfectly planned existence or their belief system relating to a specific orientation. They fear it could shake the foundation of their worldview.

This is called “cognitive dissonance.” To hear something that is contrary to their beliefs makes some uncomfortable. It draws out a latent fear of who or what to believe. And to have our beliefs challenged could be frightening and unsettling. But consider that we live at a time of the internet when information is available for those who seek it. What that means for us today is that free speech is more than a right to voice one’s opinion: it carries a corresponding right that also includes the right to receive information and to take the time to consider all aspects of a position.

Today, notwithstanding the mainstream media, more and more information is being exposed. Perhaps it is that we are in an age of enlightenment; it would seem so at least for many of us who have left the dark ages and seek knowledge.

But knowledge is not for everyone, and we should respect the right of those who don’t seek it just as we should respect the right of those that do.

It is said that knowledge was withheld by the Catholic Church for nearly a millennium. They allegedly attacked Galileo because of his assertion that the world wasn’t flat. If this is true, it can be defended that ignorance is a fundamental right of humanity, an extension of the right to be wrong.

“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” -George Orwell

As a writer, I am merely the messenger; that is all I am. I try to advance knowledge and dispel false information by individuals or groups that have some vested interest in their report―or propaganda. I aim to keep challenging my readers to think, not to merely believe.

Be mindful that to attack the messenger is to concede the truth of the message, because when no opposing opinion is advanced in argument, it evidences that the attacker had no opposing facts to present.

When I offer my opinion. you are free to offer an opposing view. That is called “discourse.”

You can not validly reply, “He’s nuts” without corresponding facts as to why he’s nuts. That statement is a mere conclusion that has no foundation unless you supply the missing evidence upon which you rely.

You could argue that in my youth I was crazy because I held a belief that our government was only interested in what was in our best interest. Then I discovered that we were deceived to engage in a war in Vietnam and that the Gulf of Tonkin incident never occurred.

I learned the real reason for the Vietnam War was the CIA drug trade from the Golden Triangle, where the CIA operated its own Air America DC3’s to move drugs into the United States. As a 1993 article in the New York Times stated, the CIA has been involved in drug smuggling since the Korean War. Manuel Noriega was in fact a CIA asset.

What history has been silent about is that the French were there for at least 10 years before us and were themselves embedded in the illicit drug trade. Our CIA was there even then and had made all the connections and introductions to continue after the French left.

A 1971 White House survey found that more then 34 percent of our service members fighting in Vietnam were addicted to heroin.

Truth is a big pill many find hard to swallow.

There will be people who place America and our principles above their own personal safety. We call these people “patriots.”

Drugs were brought back into America in the coffins and even in the body cavities of our mortally wounded veterans. That’s another fact we don’t want to believe, although there are conflicting arguments with Frank Lucas saying he did, and Leslie Atkinson claiming the story was made up. Yet I had an inside source: Ted Gunderson, a former FBI agent in charge of the Los Angeles field office, who said that Lucas told the truth. Ted was my co-host on talk radio for about 10 years and a longtime personal friend.

Ted Gunderson’s report can be found here.

We are in Afghanistan for the same reason: opium. Would you be surprised to learn that our CIA is there guarding opium fields and that we are not allowed to destroy them?

Why is this knowledge important?

It is important because it cautions us against blindly accepting our government as the truth-teller, as our benefactor and benevolent administrator.

Rather, government can be malevolent, as history itself professes.

Those who expose government corruption are eliminated by that very government.

Ted Gunderson was poisoned by arsenic.

Gary Webb, a reporter who also exposed the CIA-drug connection, was destroyed. Although he was shot twice in the head, it was deemed a suicide.

Barry Seal, who was to testify against our own government insiders and the drug trade, was murdered.

The list is as endless as time itself and makes a statement about the dangers of exposing corruption, the current poster child being Edward Snowden. Before him, it was Daniel Ellsberg. There will be others as long as government tries to conceal criminal activity. There will be people who place America and our principles above their own personal safety.

We call these people “patriots.”

Some would argue, as I’ve heard, “My country, right or wrong.” Hitler propaganda! In the real world, it is not only our right to stand against tyranny, even within our own government, but it is also our duty as Americans to do so.

Ergo back to the purpose of my opinions, which is to awaken the sleeping giant that has been lulled back to sleep after the Second World War.

I am reminded of these words spoken many years ago by Theodore Roosevelt: “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

The world has been here before. History repeats itself for one reason: mankind’s failure to learn the lessons in the first and even the second experience.

So history will continue to offer us the experience until we finally see what is going on.

I am only able to give you information from which the choice is yours to believe, to research on your own, or to deny. But these opinions are mine, and they are a valid expression of the evidence I have researched.

What I am not is a propagandist! If I were, I would be writing for one of the alphabet news outlets. I am by design and training a researcher seeking the truth. If you join me, we will together go on a journey of knowledge and traverse the very deep rabbit hole from where your perception of reality may become distorted (or clarified) by facts.

Meanwhile, you are free to believe a false science propagated by the CDC and the medical establishment if that is your choice. But be forewarned: the medical establishment kills more than 1,000 people a day by negligence.

And the CDC and FDA are controlled by the AMA and the doctors, and the CDC and the FDA were at one time paid by the very companies they are there to examine and the vaccines those manufacturers promote.

You are free to believe the reports put out by our current government. You are free to believe guns kill people and not individuals. But to believe this argument, you must recognize that automobiles also kill people, as do knives and hammers. Where do we draw the line and admit killing is a people problem?

Consider this: Autism is a growing problem. Why?

Consider this: Children are being born with impaired thyroids. Why?

Consider this: Our fish are poisoned with mercury and radiation. Why?

Consider this: Our southern borders are still unprotected. Why?

There are so many unanswered questions that my opinions seek to resolve. but you are free to ignore them and to disagree. That is what free speech is all about.

What a world this would be if we all had the same opinion or all wore the same clothes.

We don’t live in a vacuum or a perfect fairy-tale world.

That is the importance of free speech, my opinions, and your right to receive or reject them.

I truly believe, as George Orwell stated: “If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”

2015-11-04-1446667642-391987-machinegunkelly.jpg

The course of history is not always altered by great events or outsized personalities achieving the extraordinary. Often it is the bold and clear-headed actions of ordinary citizens taking decisive action at the moment of crisis that makes an outsized impact on the course of events. One such action occurred in the beastly hot summer of the worst year of the nation's Great Depression as a sense of lawlessness prevailed and desperation spread.

It happened in the early morning hours of July 23, 1933, as J. Edgar Hoover lay asleep in his home in Washington, DC. At that time, he had only tentative hold on the job he had come to know and love. He was Director of the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Investigation. At age 36, he was thought by many to be too young, too inexperienced and too politically unconnected for the job most people in government considered to be barely more than a political patronage appointment. To that point, he hadn't done much to prove them wrong.

His team's investigation of the 1932 Lindbergh baby kidnapping case had been a laughable failure. The case had dragged on with no resolution or notable progress in the 16 months since then-President Herbert Hoover had tapped him to lead the federal efforts to solve the case and find the kidnappers. His initial efforts to get involved in the investigation had been rebuffed by the New Jersey State Police and other law enforcement agencies, who flat out refused to share information, and dismissed his men as inept federal interlopers. Charles Lindbergh himself was barely co-operative.

Hoover's over-reaching in the capture and arrest of an escaped federal prisoner had resulted in the mass murder of four law enforcement officers, including one from his bureau, and the prisoner himself. The machine gun assault had taken place in June of 1933, a month earlier, in the parking lot of Kansas City's busy Union Station in full view of the train station's bustling crowds. Its perpetrators were still at large.

Not only was his competence being called into question by the national press, but his masculinity was as well as they mocked his gait and dandified attire. The new president's wife was said to loath him, and he'd just barely escaped a sacking by Franklin Delano Roosevelt's first choice for Attorney General, Thomas Walsh, who died unexpectedly before assuming the office.

But Hoover was about to receive a phone call that would turn his fortunes around. The call would deliver to Hoover the most effective and co-operative witness in the history of the agency's war against crime. It would set into motion the biggest manhunt in the nation's history and lead to a spectacular trial that would transfix the country and transform the bureau.

The events would unleash a barrage of publicity that would ultimately put the beleaguered director on course to become not only the most powerful lawman in the nation's history, but the most admired as well. Within ninety days, Hoover would go from a man whose head had been on the political chopping block, to the star performer of the new administration's ambitious plans.

Hoover could not have realized all of this as his bedside telephone rang on that Sunday at 2 a.m. But his life was about to change, and history was about to be made.

Just weeks earlier Hoover had established the country's first national crime hotline—a special number that anyone could call to be put through immediately to the Justice Department headquarters in Washington, DC. It was intended to be used for reporting kidnappings—a heinous crime that was occurring with alarming regularity throughout the country. Hoover hoped his hotline would tip his agents off quickly so they could get on the scene without delay and get control of the investigation before the local authorities could lock things up and freeze them out. So eager was he to get news quickly, that he instructed the telephone operators at the bureau to put calls through to a special line he had installed in his home.

When it rang, rousing Hoover, it brought news of the kidnapping of a wealthy Oklahoma oilman, who'd been snatched off his sun porch just hours earlier. The call was from the victim's wife, who'd read a story about the special hotline just days earlier in Time magazine. Hoover dispatched his men almost immediately.

Within days of his release after the largest ransom in the nation's history had been paid, the victim, Charles Urschel (no relation to the author), led the bureau's agents back to the farm in Texas where he had been held captive, resulting in the arrest four members of the crew that held him captive and legendary bank robber Harvey Bailey, who was hiding out on the farm.

From there they would chase the actual kidnappers, George "Machine Gun" Kelly, his wife, Kathryn, and partner Albert Bates over 20,000 miles and 16 states before their eventual capture. After a spectacular and melodramatic trial that was covered in great detail by members of the press from around the world, the Kellys, Bates, Bailey and Robert and Ora Shannon, who owned the farm where the victim was held, all would be convicted and sentenced to life in prison. George Kelly, Bates and Bailey would eventually end up serving their time on Alcatraz, the federal penitentiary that was opened a year later as a place to house "criminals of the vicious and irredeemable type," in the words of then-Attorney General, Homer Cummings.

Citing the Urschel kidnapping case, Cummings then went before Congress and argued for an expansion of power for the Justice Department's Bureau of Investigation. At the time, the Bureau was basically limited to the pursuit of kidnappers, interstate auto thefts and those transporting women across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. He wanted federal laws against racketeering, the transportation of stolen property across state lines, flight across state lines to avoid prosecution, robbing banks operating under the Federal Reserve System, assault on a Federal officer, regulations on the sale and manufacture of machine guns, and other laws that would expand the enforcement powers of the Bureau. He also wanted the death penalty for kidnappers. With the passage of 1934's Crime Bill, he would get virtually everything he wanted.

A year later Hoover and Cummings would go to the president and suggest a new name for their bureau—a name that would distinguish it from other federal agencies that also had investigative bureaus. They wanted to call the Justice Department's bureau, the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Roosevelt liked the idea, and on March 22, 1935, the name formally took effect.

J. Edgar Hoover, its Director, who less than 2 years earlier was in danger of losing his title, would hold on to it for another 35 years until he died in his sleep on May 2, 1972. Charles Urschel and his wife Berenice would fade into the background, largely forgotten. But had they not taken the actions they did—standing up to the threats of their captors and co-operating with the federal authorities—Hoover would have been denied the landmark trial on which he launched his career, and George "Machine Gun" Kelly would have remained in relative anonymity as a bit player in the saga of America's gangland.

New Evidence Points to TWA-800 Coverup

By Jim Fetzer on May 1, 2015
By William Boardman

New evidence contradicts the U.S. government’s official story and supports the conclusion that an American 747 jet passenger liner was brought down by an explosion outside the airplane, likely a missile, which caused fuel tanks to explode destroying the aircraft, according to a group that includes credible professionals in aviation, investigation, media, and physics.

On June 19, this group formally petitioned the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to reopen its long but inconclusive investigation of the strange mid-air explosion that brought down TWA Flight 800 on July 17, 1996, killing everyone aboard, 230 people from 13 countries. NTSB chair Deborah Hersman declined to discuss the petition. Board spokesperson Kelly Nantel issued a statement indicating that the board would probably respond “within about 60 days.”

The newest challenge to the long-distrusted official story of TWA Flight 800 comes from a group led by six experienced crash investigators, all of whom worked on the original TWA Flight 800 investigation from 1996 to 2000. The nameless group also includes a physicist, a documentary film producer, and a CBS News producer whose coverage of the 1996 story was suppressed by the network at the time. Also supporting the petition to re-open the investigation are a number of eyewitnesses to the explosions and several family members of the victims.

Epix Film Charges Cover-up, Evidence Suppression, Witness Intimidation

The petition to the NTSB is timed to help promote, and directly supported by, a new documentary, “TWA FLIGHT 800,” that tells the story of how, “17 years later, inside investigators finally break their silence.” The documentary premieres on July 17 on Epix, the premium cable channel started in 2009 by Viacom, Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, and Lions Gate Entertainment.

Documentary co-producer Tom Stalcup is a physicist and co-founded the Flight 800 Independent Researchers Organization in 1999 (http://www.flight800.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) to assure the integrity of the NSTB crash investigation, based on the belief that “the FBI unlawfully denied the National Transportation Safety Board access to forensic results and eyewitness interview documents” and continues to do so.

Focusing on whether TWA Flight 800 was brought down by an internal (i.e., gas tank malfunction or bomb) or external (i.e., missile) explosion, physicist Stalcup told Democracy NOW!:

The most significant piece of evidence that we have analyzed, that the NTSB has not analyzed, is the initial detonation that caused the crash. This was recorded by multiple FAA radar sites. And it was consistent [with] and corroborates the eyewitness reports. The eyewitnesses reported something going up, heading out down towards that airplane, a long distance, colliding with it in a perpendicular fashion, detonating near or at the aircraft….

And, yes, in fact, the radar evidence— the radar sites along Long Island picked up that exact event – supersonic debris exiting the right side of the— right side of the aircraft, consistent with the trajectory of that object.

Almost Everyone’s First Thought in July 1996 Was Possible Terrorism

From the start, investigators and witnesses alike suspected the explosion was a terrorist attack, by missile or a bomb aboard the plane. As the CIA summed it up in 2008, “Investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) almost immediately focused on three possible causes: a bomb, a missile, or a mechanical failure.”

Because of these suspicions, the FBI took the lead in the investigation, assisted by the CIA, operating on the assumption that it was a criminal investigation. Officially, the FBI came to categorize its investigation as “Re: UNKNOWN SUBJECT(S); EXPLOSION OF TWA FLIGHT #800; JULY 17, 1996; ACTS OF TERRORISM – INTERNATIONAL TERRORISTS – EXPLOSIVE AND INCENDIARY DEVICES.”

The NTSB, an independent federal agency established by Congress to investigate every civil aviation accident in the U.S., found itself in the unusual position of having to defer to the FBI. The FBI/NTSB working relationship quickly deteriorated, becoming less a collaboration than a culture clash. This failure of cooperation in 1996 contributed directly to widespread skepticism about official narratives, including the present challenge to the reliability of the investigation.

After more than a year, the FBI decided that there were no terrorists involved in bringing down TWA Flight 800. In a nationally televised news conference on November 18, 1997, the agency announced it was suspending its investigation. That news conference featured a CIA-produced animation of the end of Flight 800, “explaining” what the witnesses had seen, whether they thought they’d seen it or not.

You Didn’t See What You Saw, You Saw What the CIA Says You Saw

Titled “What Did the Eyewitnesses See?,” the CIA animation begins with a quick summary of the takeoff, explosion, and crash “into the Atlantic Ocean, nine miles off the coast of Long Island.” Dozens of witnesses saw what looked to them like a missile. “Was it a missile? Did foreign terrorists destroy the aircraft?” the CIA narrator asks ominously. “CIA weapons analysts looked into this possibility.”

“The CIA’s conclusion: the eyewitnesses did not see a missile,” the narrator states. He goes on to describe what different witnesses really saw, according to agency experts. [Excerpts of this animation are on YouTube, “TWA 800: CIA animation: ‘What did the witnesses see?'”] The narrator finally concludes, falsely, “To date, there is no evidence that anyone saw a missile shoot down TWA Flight 800.” [Emphasis in the original.]

What makes the narrator’s statement false is the evidence he himself had just acknowledged – the accounts of witnesses. Those accounts, and the CIA’s analysis of them, are all evidence, none of which has been tested in court or any other adversarial proceeding. There were at least 736 witnesses to at least part of the event and 258 of those witnesses saw something broadly consistent with a missile; of these, 38 described seeing something that closely resembled a missile rising from the ocean and looping down on the plane.

What If the Only Officially Sanctioned Conclusion Can’t Be Proved?

With the FBI and CIA determining that there was no missile and no bomb, the last remaining possibility on the investigators’ list was a mechanical failure of some sort, for which there was no immediately obvious evidence. Although the FBI slowly turned over much of its evidence to the NTSB, the air safety board still took more than four years to issue its report on TWA Flight 800. Even though that was one of the longest investigations the NSTB ever conducted, at a cost of about $40 million, it still could not reach a definitive conclusion.

Regarding the mid-air explosion that killed 230 people on TWA Flight 800, the NTSB concluded: “The source of ignition energy for the explosion could not be determined with certainty….”

Despite years of unofficial challenges to the NTSB’s final report on August 23, 2000, the safety board has not improved on its inconclusive conclusion. Officially, the board never closes an investigation, but the TWA Flight 800 investigation has apparently been inactive for 13 years. The 425-page final report is on the NTSB.gov web site. More than 17,000 supporting documents are available by request.

Almost Nobody Talks About the Navy’s Role in the TWA 800 Crash

On July 17, 1996, TWA Flight 800 was flying over an area of the Atlantic Ocean where the U.S. Navy was conducting a live-fire exercise and had closed part of the airspace to commercial traffic, according to Kelly O’Meara, who was then a congressional aide to N.Y. Republican Rep. Michael Forbes.

Among the naval vessels taking part in the exercise were a number of surface ships and three submarines – USS Trepang, USS Wyoming, and USS Albuquerque. In the immediate aftermath of the crash, the nearest Navy surface ship did not attempt any rescue operation, but steamed rapidly away from the crash site. For the next two days, Navy divers worked the crash site while keeping others, including NTSB divers, from joining recovery operations.

According to Jack Cashill of WND (formerly World Net Daily), an anonymous crew member of the USS Albuquerque, whom he calls Mack, said he had loaded secret, “experimental missiles” on his submarine for that exercise. After TWA Flight 800 exploded, Mack told his wife that he hoped it had been a terrorist attack, since the most likely alternative seemed to be a Navy accident.

Cashill and James Sanders co-wrote the 2003 book, “First Strike: TWA Flight 800 and the Attack on America,” in which they argue that the Clinton White House orchestrated the multi-agency cover-up in order to protect his 1996 re-election. The authors conclude that “TWA Flight 800 was brought down by a Navy missile, whose intended target was a terrorist plane on a collision course with the passenger aircraft,” according to Publishers Weekly.

Despite Conspiracy Theories, Legitimate Questions Remains Unanswered

The terrorist kamikaze plane is hardly the only conspiracy theory tied to TWA Flight 800, but the makers of the new Epix documentary don’t theorize – they lay out what they consider to be the critical evidence as the basis for their call for an investigation that will address open questions.

“We are not speculating in the least,” co-producer Stalcup told the N.Y. Daily News. “Based on the evidence, we can push [the NTSB’s] conclusions aside. I think the whole world should listen.”

The NSTB’s inconclusive conclusion is only one issue that Stalcup and his collaborators want to see addressed. Others include:

What was the Navy doing out there that night? Why wasn’t that investigated, or the results of any investigation made public?
Why did the FBI fail to record a single witness interview, preferring to have agents summarize what was said in their own words?
Why did the NSTB choose not to take testimony from any of the 700-plus witnesses to the explosion and crash?
Why did the NTSB choose not to take testimony from the helicopter pilot who was the closest witness to the explosion? Why did they avoid Major Fred Meyer, then an on-duty Major in the National Guard, a Viet-Nam helicopter veteran, who saw the takedown of TWA Flight 800 as a missile strike? “I’m a combat vet, I know what missiles look like. And I know what I saw,” he told McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.
Why did the NTSB consider only a missile that actually hit the plane, and not one that exploded in close proximity, even though the latter hypothesis fits more closely with the evidence?
Why did the NTSB consider only a missile fired by terrorists? Why did an NTSB spokesman tell Business Insurance magazine in October 1996 that “friendly fire has never been something we’ve considered, or believed?

How Welcome Would Whistleblowers Have Been in the FBI or NTSB in 1996?

The original investigators who are now breaking their silence want to explain that silence and the intimidation that enforced it. And they want to expose what they see as the investigation’s incompetence and wrong doing:

Hank Hughes was an NTSB investigator for 42 years. “TWA 800 was a one-of-a-kind event. There was no instance in my entire career that was like it, from the standpoint of the manipulation of the investigation, lack of coordination, and for that matter, the willful denial of information,” he told McClatchy.
Bob Young was an accident investigator for TWA and says the FBI manipulated the investigators and forced th

Prosecutors: Informant led FBI to Chesterfield bombing suspects

Nov 12, 2015 07:59 PM

CHESTERFIELD, VA A tip from an informant led FBI agents to uncover an alleged plot by a pair of Richmond-area men to blow up houses of worship and start a race war, according to testimony in federal court on Thursday.

The special agent from the FBI investigating the case told the court it was an informant who told investigators Robert Doyle and Ronald Chaney III wanted to purchase guns. Prosecutors say the men wanted to rob a Virginia jewelry distributor to raise money to fund a race war. They also say an undercover agent acting as a weapons dealer recorded Doyle describing plans to kill the dealer and dispose of his body.

Investigators say the men met, along with Charles Halderman, at Doyle's home in Chesterfield to come up with a plan for the robbery and to ultimately start a "race war."

Both men have ties to white supremacy groups, prosecutors argued, specifically citing Doyle's alleged ties to the Aryan Brotherhood.

The suspects requested to buy "an automatic weapon, explosives, and a pistol with a silencer," according to prosecutors. It was Chaney who showed up to buy the guns earlier this month, while electronic surveillance showed Doyle was nearby, prosecutors said. Both men were arrested.

A search of Doyle's car found 30 rounds of ammunition and his Chesterfield home contained three ballistic vests and several firearms, prosecutors said. Explosives, firearms and a vest were also found at the Henrico home where he lived with his parents, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors said he has five prior felony convictions and has been on supervised probation since 2007.

While prosecutors say they met at Doyle's home in Chesterfield in September to plot shooting or bombing synagogues and black churches, and also to plan for what they called a "race war," defense attorneys said it isn't clear what exactly took place at the meeting.

The suspects waived their right to a preliminary

Traces of explosives have been found in the debris of the passenger jet that crashed in Egypt last month, the Kremlin announced on Tuesday as it unveiled a $50 million reward in the case.

Alexander Bortnikov, the chief of the country’s FSB domestic security agency, said that a bomb equivalent to 2.2 pounds of TNT exploded on board the aircraft, according to the Kremlin.

“You can definitely say that this is a terrorist act,” Bortnikov told a meeting of Russia’s Security Council on Monday.

The FSB, which is the successor to the KGB, also offered the $50 million reward for information on who brought down the jet.

Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to hunt the perpetrators, saying that “we will find them anywhere on the globe, and punish them.”

John Kerry Calls ISIS ‘Psychopathic Monsters’ After Paris Attacks

TIME

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has labeled the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) “psychopathic monsters” following Friday’s coordinated terrorist attacks across Paris that killed 129 people.

ISIS Calls Anonymous ‘Idiots’ in Response to Hacker Group’s Declaration of …

Newsweek

The Islamic State militant group (ISIS) released a statement on Monday responding to Anonymous’s declaration of “total war,” calling the hacker group “idiots” and offering guidance to pro-ISIS supporters to protect against cyber attacks.

Person suspected of bombing 7K9268 worked at airport loading luggage | 17 Nov 2015 | The head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Alexander Bortnikov, said that the crash of the airliner over Egypt was the result of a bomb, previously installed on Board the aircraft. According to information obtained by LifeNews, the security services have reason to suspect that the explosive device aboard the A321 was placed by an employee of the airport of Sharm El-Sheikh, who had settled there earlier. According to sources, the suspect in the bombing was in the airport of Sharm El-Sheikh loading passengers’ luggage. That’s why he was able to freely smuggle a bomb on Board.

IMO, some long hidden cards…up until now kept very close to the chest…are going to have to be laid upon the table. Double games

“Syrians in Raqqa tell of ‘insane nights’ of air strikes” (my emphasis in red):

“. . . a media activist in Raqqa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that French air strikes had targeted abandoned ISIL bases in the suburbs of the city where there are no civilians or ISIL fighters.

“It has been two insane nights. Abandoned ISIL posts were targeted at the entrance of the city, along with ISIL checkpoints and several other points. Electricity and water have been cut off as supply lines were hit too.

“We can confirm that there were no civilians killed or injured in the latest French air strikes.

“People are horrified and everyone here lives in fear. We are sure that several ISIL fighters at the checkpoints were killed in the air strikes.””

World-class American ‘targeting’. Busy-work by the French, trying to appear to be fighting terror while scrupulously avoiding doing so. If the terror continues (and these was another big real threat today), I imagine even Europeans will eventually start to complain about this Zio-$#!%.

“Lavrov on the dangerous and double game of the US in Syria”:

“The US brought a “dangerous and two-thought game” to Syria, trying at one and the same time to fight the tabu “Islamic state” and yet to use it against President Bashar Assad. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov laid out this view in an on television channel “Russia 1.”

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs, the United States acted in Syria selectively and did not touch those terrorist units, which could cause damage to the government troops.

“The blows delivered to the terrorists, with analysis of these strikes for more than a year, lead to the conclusion that the hits were done selectively, I would say, more gently, and in most cases did not touch those ISIL units, which could seriously oppose the Syrian army. This is a rather dangerous and certainly double game, one not giving a representation of what the US wants,” said Lavrov.”

Given all the bribery and blackmail which is effectively protecting the terrorists, there will have to be real pressure put on the corrupt politicians like Hollande to actually do what they say they are doing. Otherwise a lot more people are going to die. I imagine if people stop going to all the places that politicians have left unprotected, like sports venues, performance venues, and restaurants, something may eventually be done. Until the charade stops, and terrorism is actually combated (which will, amongst other things, involve full and unqualified support for Assad, and real, not phony, attacks on ISIS), terror will continue.

Immediately after the Paris Attacks on Friday Nov. 13th, French authorities and mainstream media wasted no time in expediting the crucial talking point that a Syrian passport was found either on, or near, the body of one of the alleged suicide bombers outside the Stade de France sporting arena in Paris.

This begged the obvious question: why would supposed suicide bombers all pack their passports with them on a one-way jihad?

Public suspicion immediate went viral on social media, as people pointed out how this anomaly directly mirrored similar false flag stunts on 9/11 in 2001, with MH17 in 2014, and with Charlie Hebdo last January.

This seemed to force the mainstream media to pivot, as they ‘walked back’ the Syrian passport leg of their story and take rear guard action before the public copped on to what was likely a planted set-piece at the scene of the crime. At this point, the mainstream choir suddenly U-turned and claimed in unison, that the Syrian passport was indeed a ‘fake’ – but even then, the mainstream media still stood by the assertion that the alleged suicide bomber had sneaked into Europe from Syria undercover the west’s cleverly engineered ‘Migrant Crisis’ in Europe.

If the passport(s) is indeed fake, then how could police be certain that the passport’s carrier was the same as the passport’s legitimate owner? How can they be sure the ‘fake’ passports were not planted at the scene, or did not belong to someone else, a bystander for example? Could the crime scene have been tampered with before or after the event? Interesting questions, and ones which have already netted a number of creative and improbable theories by authorities and their media operatives. Most importantly, the lack of real evidence in this case pretty much destroys the fabricated talking point which fuses together this ‘ISIS terrorist’ event together with the ‘Migrant Crisis’.

If we are to truly believe authorities again, then maybe we are underestimating the true value of these indestructible travel documents. We could be missing out on one of mankind’s greatest, most strongest ever material designs.

[Ed.: Abel Danger has posted and apparently agrees with the conclusion reached by Jim Stone, thus suggesting to some degree that the two are in cahoots, or at least bringing both sites more into the public eye and thus lending each some credibility. I have found them interesting to watch, Abel Danger being more new to me; I find some of their work to be somewhat obtuse, using terms and semantics the reader must dig deeply to understand. Nevertheless, there appears to be some “there” there. Stone I find curious and somewhat off the wall from time to time, but much of his stuff is eminently plausible or at least consistent and coherent with other presentations, but occasionally he lapses into a string of lingo that is vaguley reminiscent of older online persona who have since been relegated to the “disinfo” pile. (Sorcha Faal (“Such a Fool”) comes to mind but it might have been someone else.) Danger and Stone could be having a race to see how far out there they can get, to which we might add others. Myself, I think it never hurts to peek, listen or read, and the degree to which they appear to be “out there” may only be a reflection of the degree to which mainstream media, education and the entirely-engineered system since time immemorial has prevented, censored, obscured and denied. Stone at least has unearthed this FBI tidbit on Joshua Ryne Goldberg.

There is a mini-industry of people purporting to be expert insiders who by virtue of their knowledge, skill, access, etc. can lead us to truth. I once made a comment at Jim Stone’s site — never published, that I am aware of — asking him to post his bona fides (Abel Danger’s are readily available, and accepted in some quarters). Benjamin Fulford equally lurks, trending to credibility, a point made in Greencrow’s recent rant #14 in which she re-vamped her own blogroll for the credibility factor.

[As an aside, I am pleased to note that I made the cut (thanks, Greencrow) and I’ve been a reader since the late great Kenny welcomed her to his neighborhood. Check out thesullenbell.com too…]

I’ve noted the need, and begun without much success, to reach out and establish a “virtual tertulliana” (borrowing on Gabriel Garcia Marquez), wanting more interaction for the express purpose of learning from each other how to keep the waves of voices in the global cacophony properly catalogued. But I’ve digressed…

The remnant from Paris was the picture “of the scene at the Bataclan – and that picture was obviously, from the dryness of the blood, taken at least two hours after the shooting. Two hours after the shooting, the place should be flooded with EMTs and police – yet the entire shooting scene is devoid of people.” You can find these references, echoed by others.

Without getting into an argument with anyone about the specifics, I’ll demur on judgment. I find it somewhat silly — however sharpened or heightened we think our critical thinking, astute skills at observation, or technical relevant skills are — to jump into the fray and think that, like the team of responders from the Internet movie NWO: CSI, we can ascertain critical crime scene truths from a scene thousands of miles away in a different culture, different police/response system , different political system, etc. I’ve done enough research to know a little something about perceptions, silo thinking, et alia. Maybe Jim Stone and Abel Danger are that adept. I know I’m not. It’s one piece of evidence. And I know I ought to be careful when postulating about something that is seen through the distorted lenses of TV news, massed cognitive infilitration, and innumerable layered biases and world-views. Nor am I ready to discern the inner thoughts of Vladimir Putin and the reality of his world-view. I’m 67, and I am still learning.

I’m something of a veteran of this whole old game of watching “ops” and SCADs and reading about them. I’m old. I’ve learned incrementally. I was 15 when Jacqueline’s pink dress was smeared with Jack’s blood. It was years and years later when I discovered that Vincent Salandria had the proper perspective almost immediately on how to decode Dealey Plaza.

What I’ve learned in the many years are that the people who are the “perps” are very very advanced at magical mysteries, at making things appear what they are not, at planting disinformational seedlings, at covering their tracks. Our society is still celebrating and protecting them, for God’s sake, so to think that we have solved the problem within days by examining a photo is perhaps the height of cheeky audaciousness. There are some who are very good at this art, and perhaps these three guys are well up on the list. But the opposition works and thinks in terms of extended time. Perhaps we should too, by teaching, archiving, articulating, and enhancing our skills.

Just below, Joaachim Hagopian at EmpireExposed adds a whole lot more evience, pulling on Stone’s revelations about Nohemi Gonzalez, pointing out a not-so-obvious-but-observable fact about the drummer in the concert band, and adding some juicy tidbits about Facebook and Wikipedia. ]

Long-range bombers to fly anti-ISIS missions from Russia; Putin orders Navy to work with France | 17 Nov 2015 | Russia has deployed its fleet of strategic bombers to double the volume of airstrikes on Islamist targets in Syria, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has announced. Vladimir Putin has ordered a cruiser to coordinate operations with French naval forces in the Mediterranean. Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said that Russia’s Tu-95, Tu-22 and Tu-160 strategic bombers have been brought into the operation, while the Air Force command added that the strike group has been bolstered with 37 new planes, including Su-34 bombers and Su-27 fighter jets.

Look At America’s Convoluted Web Of Terror Watch Lists

BuzzFeed News takes a look at the massive web of watch lists put in place to keep foreign fighters from reaching the U.S. — and the consequences of ending up on one.

In a video reportedly released by a subgroup of ISIS, which claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks that killed at least 129 people on Nov. 13, an armed man in what appears to be rural Iraq vows to “strike America at its center in Washington.”

Other videos released this week also show ISIS fighters warning of more attacks in Paris, as well as Times Square in New York, Italy, and elsewhere.

The threats renewed attention on precautions the United States is taking to keep the threat from reaching the mainland.

The massive network of terror watch lists and databases involved in tracking potential threats across the globe now includes tens of thousands of names, the vast majority of which belong to people who likely have no idea they’ve been flagged.

NBC News reported Tuesday that U.S. terror databases contain more than 2,700 names with connections to France alone, and that 801 of them are considered potential “foreign fighters” who might try to join ISIS in Syria. Several of those people had taken flights to the U.S. out of Paris this year, the network reported, including those who also have citizenship in Pakistan.

But the extensive surveillance apparatus, while allowing authorities to track potential threats, has also proven to be a nightmare for the extremely small percentage of those who find out they are on a watch list, and then try to get off it.

BuzzFeed News took a look at some of their stories and examined just how vast the surveillance network is — and how authorities leverage the system to further intelligence gathering.
The Ever-Expanding No-Fly List

Abe Mashal’s first hint of trouble came in April 2010, when he couldn’t print his boarding pass for his flight to Spokane, Washington.

The next day, within minutes of arriving at Midway International Airport in Chicago, Mashal found himself surrounded by about 30 officers.

“I was in shock,” the veteran told BuzzFeed News. “I had my Marine Corps shirt on.”

A new book on the notorious Boston gangster, James 'Whitey' Bulger, details his meetings with the Provisional IRA in setting up the arms smuggling deal which led to the arrest of Sinn Fein TD Martin Ferris in 1984.

The book also says that Bulger's involvement with the IRA "took off" after he began working as an FBI informer and quotes one of Bulger's associates saying that C4 plastic explosive supplied to the IRA came from a corrupt FBI agent who was supposed to be one of the Irish-American gangster's handlers.

The book is written by Boston Globe journalists Shelley Murphy and Kevin Cullen. Cullen, for
