Secret police. Secret courts. Secret government agencies. Surveillance. Intimidation tactics. Harassment. Torture. Brutality. Widespread corruption. Entrapment schemes.

These are the hallmarks of every authoritarian regime from the Roman Empire to modern-day America, yet it’s the secret police—tasked with silencing dissidents, ensuring compliance, and maintaining a climate of fear—who sound the death knell for freedom in every age.

Every regime has its own name for its secret police: Mussolini’s OVRA carried out phone surveillance on government officials. Stalin’s NKVD carried out large-scale purges, terror and depopulation. Hitler’s Gestapo went door to door ferreting out dissidents and other political “enemies” of the state. And in the U.S., it’s the Federal Bureau of Investigation that does the dirty work of ensuring compliance, keeping tabs on potential dissidents, and punishing those who dare to challenge the status quo.

Whether the FBI is planting undercover agents in churches, synagogues and mosques; issuing fake emergency letters to gain access to Americans’ phone records; using intimidation tactics to silence Americans who are critical of the government, or persuading impressionable individuals to plot acts of terror and then entrapping them, the overall impression of the nation’s secret police force is that of a well-dressed thug, flexing its muscles and doing the boss’ dirty work.

Indeed, a far cry from the glamorized G-men depicted in Hollywood film noirs and spy thrillers, the government’s henchmen have become the embodiment of how power, once acquired, can be so easily corrupted and abused.

Case in point: the FBI is being sued after its agents, lacking sufficient evidence to acquire a search warrant, disabled a hotel’s internet and then impersonated Internet repair technicians in order to gain access to a hotel suite and record the activities of the room’s occupants. Justifying the warrantless search as part of a sting on internet gambling, FBI officials insisted that citizens should not expect the same right to privacy in the common room of a hotel suite as they would at home in their bedroom.

Far from being tough on crime, FBI agents are also among the nation’s most notorious lawbreakers. In fact, in addition to creating certain crimes in order to then “solve” them, the FBI also gives certain informants permission to break the law, “including everything from buying and selling illegal drugs to bribing government officials and plotting robberies,” in exchange for their cooperation on other fronts. USA Today estimates that agents have authorized criminals to engage in as many as 15 crimes a day. Some of these informants are getting paid astronomical sums: one particularly unsavory fellow, later arrested for attempting to run over a police officer, was actually paid $85,000 for his help laying the trap for an entrapment scheme.

In a stunning development reported by The Washington Post, a probe into misconduct by an FBI agent has resulted in the release of at least a dozen convicted drug dealers from prison. Several suspects awaiting trial have also been freed, and more could be released as the unnamed agent’s caseload comes under scrutiny. As the Post reports: “The scope and type of alleged misconduct by the agent have not been revealed, but defense lawyers involved in the cases described the mass freeing of felons as virtually unprecedented—and an indication that convictions could be in jeopardy. Prosecutors are periodically faced with having to drop cases over police misconduct, but it is unusual to free those who have been found guilty.”

In addition to procedural misconduct, trespassing, enabling criminal activity, and damaging private property, the FBI’s laundry list of crimes against the American people includes surveillance, disinformation, blackmail, entrapment, intimidation tactics, and harassment.

For example, the Associated Press recently lodged a complaint with the Dept. of Justice after learning that FBI agents created a fake AP news story and emailed it, along with a clickable link, to a bomb threat suspect in order to implant tracking technology onto his computer and identify his location. Lambasting the agency, AP attorney Karen Kaiser railed, “The FBI may have intended this false story as a trap for only one person. However, the individual could easily have reposted this story to social networks, distributing to thousands of people, under our name, what was essentially a piece of government disinformation.”

Then again, to those familiar with COINTELPRO, an FBI program created to “disrupt, misdirect, discredit, and neutralize” groups and individuals the government considers politically objectionable, it should come as no surprise that the agency has mastered the art of government disinformation.

The FBI has been particularly criticized in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks for targeting vulnerable individuals and not only luring them into fake terror plots but actually equipping them with the organization, money, weapons and motivation to carry out the plots—entrapment—and then jailing them for their so-called terrorist plotting. This is what the FBI characterizes as “forward leaning—preventative—prosecutions.”

Another fallout from 9/11, National Security Letters, one of the many illicit powers authorized by the USA Patriot Act, allows the FBI to secretly demand that banks, phone companies, and other businesses provide them with customer information and not disclose the demands. An internal audit of the agency found that the FBI practice of issuing tens of thousands of NSLs every year for sensitive information such as phone and financial records, often in non-emergency cases, is riddled with widespread violations.

The FBI’s surveillance capabilities, on a par with the National Security Agency, boast a nasty collection of spy tools ranging from Stingray devices that can track the location of cell phones to Triggerfish devices which allow agents to eavesdrop on phone calls. In one case, the FBI actually managed to remotely reprogram a “suspect’s” wireless internet card so that it would send “real-time cell-site location data to Verizon, which forwarded the data to the FBI.”

Now the FBI is seeking to expand its already invasive hacking powers to allow agents to hack into any computer, anywhere in the world. As journalist Brett Wilkins warns:

If the proposed rule change is approved, the FBI would have the power to unleash “network investigative techniques” against computers anywhere in the world, allowing the agency to secretly install malware and spyware on any computer, effectively allowing it to control that computer and all its stored information. The FBI could download all the computer’s digital contents, switch its camera or microphone on or off and even control other computers in its network.

And then there’s James Comey, current director of the FBI, who knows enough to say all the right things about the need to abide by the Constitution, all the while his agency routinely discards it. Comey has this idea that the government’s powers shouldn’t be limited, especially when it comes to carrying out surveillance on American citizens. Responding to reports that Apple and Google are creating smart phones that will be more difficult to hack into, Comey has been lobbying Congress and the White House to force technology companies to keep providing the government with backdoor access to Americans’ cell phones.

It’s not all Comey’s fault, though. This transformation of the FBI into a secret police force can be traced back to the days of J. Edgar Hoover. As author Anthony S. Summers points out, it was Hoover who “built the first federal fingerprint bank, and his Identification Division would eventually offer instant access to the prints of 159 million people. His Crime Laboratory became the most advanced in the world.”

Eighty years after Hoover instituted the FBI’s first fingerprint “database”—catalogued on index cards, no less—the agency’s biometric database has grown to massive proportions, the largest in the world, encompassing everything from fingerprints, palm, face and iris scans to DNA, and is being increasingly shared between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in an effort to target potential criminals long before they ever commit a crime. This is what’s known as pre-crime.

If it were just about fighting the “bad guys,” that would be one thing. But as countless documents make clear, the FBI has a long track record of abusing its extensive powers in order to blackmail politicians, spy on celebrities and high-ranking government officials, and intimidate dissidents of all stripes. It’s an old tactic, used effectively by former authoritarian regimes.

In fact, as historian Robert Gellately documents, the Nazi police state was repeatedly touted as a model for other nations to follow, so much so that Hoover actually sent one of his right-hand men, Edmund Patrick Coffey, to Berlin in January 1938 at the invitation of Germany’s secret police. As Gellately noted, “[A]fter five years of Hitler’s dictatorship, the Nazi police had won the FBI’s seal of approval.”

Indeed, so impressed was the FBI with the Nazi order that, as the New York Times recently revealed, in the decades after World War II, the FBI, along with other government agencies, aggressively recruited at least a thousand Nazis, including some of Hitler’s highest henchmen, brought them to America, hired them on as spies and informants, and then carried out a massive cover-up campaign to ensure that their true identities and ties to Hitler’s holocaust machine would remain unknown. Moreover, anyone who dared to blow the whistle on the FBI’s illicit Nazi ties found himself spied upon, intimidated, harassed and labeled a threat to national security.

So not only have American taxpayers have been paying to keep ex-Nazis on the government payroll for decades but we’ve been subjected to the very same tactics used by the Third Reich: surveillance, militarized police, overcriminalization, and a government mindset that views itself as operating outside the bounds of the law.

Yet as I point out in my book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, it’s no coincidence that the similarities between the American police state and past totalitarian regimes such as Nazi Germany grow more pronounced with each passing day. This is how freedom falls, and tyrants come to power.

Suffice it to say that when and if a true history of the FBI is ever written, it will not only track the rise of the American police state but it will also chart the decline of freedom in America: how a nation that once abided by the

Saying he is "perplexed" by the FBI’s failure to provide a timely report on a witness tampering allegation, a federal judge has scheduled a hearing for Thursday in Salt Lake City for the bureau to argue why it should not be found in contempt.

At the hearing, U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups also wants the FBI and Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue — who is suing the agency over records he requested about the Oklahoma City bombing — to discuss the possibility of having a court-appointed special master oversee compliance with court orders in the case.

The tampering claim came up during a four-day bench trial in July on a lawsuit Trentadue filed in 2008 claiming the FBI had failed to conduct a search reasonably calculated to locate all records in the bureau’s possession that he requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The agency has responded that it conducted an "exhaustive" search; Waddoups took the case under consideration and has yet to rule.


On the second day of trial, Trentadue said he had just learned one of his witnesses, John Matthews, was backing out of testifying. According to court documents, Matthews planned to testify that he believed the FBI was monitoring bomber Timothy McVeigh in the run up to the 1995 detonation at the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City — information that Trentadue believes the agency wants to suppress.

Trentadue alleges that Matthews — who he describes as a former undercover operative for the government — was threatened by the FBI with the loss of his disability and other veteran benefits if he took the stand. Department of Justice attorneys, who are representing the FBI, denied any coercion and argued an email Matthews sent to them saying he was not threatened settled the matter.

However, Waddoups disagreed the issue was resolved and scheduled a hearing for Thursday to hear testimony on the allegation. He also ordered the FBI to investigate any communications between the bureau and Matthews and submit a report to the court far enough in advance of the hearing so Trentadue could prepare subpoenas, if necessary.

Waddoups noted the DOJ attorneys had said they planned to file the report on Nov. 3 — 10 days before the scheduled hearing — but had not done so, leaving Trentadue with inadequate time to issue subpoenas. In an order issued Thursday, the judge postponed testimony on whether there has been witness tampering and said the upcoming hearing will be devoted to the contempt and special master issues.

The DOJ attorneys responded that the investigation, which was done by the FBI, took longer than expected but the report has been completed and filed. In a motion filed Friday, they asked Waddoups to cancel Thursday’s hearing, arguing that because the FBI conducted the probe and submitted the report as ordered, "no contempt order is warranted, nor is there any need to appoint a special master."

In addition, they asked Waddoups to find that an evidentiary hearing on the tampering allegation is unnecessary. The information contained in the report "makes clear that no witness tampering occurred and that there is no basis to conduct any further proceedings on this matter," according to the motion.

In an affidavit attached to the motion, retired agent Don Jarrett says Matthews, who he has known since about 1992, called him in early July to say that he did not want to testify. Jarrett says he had not heard of the case and suggested that Matthews contact the FBI’s attorney in the case.

Matthews then contacted the Salt Lake City office four times and talked to Special Agent Adam Quirk, who was the person assigned to handle incoming calls the day of the first call, the motion says. Matthews said he had been asked to testify in a trial involving the Oklahoma City bombing but did not intend to appear unless subpoenaed, Quirk said in an affidavit.

"I was not familiar with any trial matching Mr. Matthews’ description," Quirk said. "I was not sure why Mr. Matthews was contacting the Field Office, but I simply confirmed that, in order for him to be required to testify, he would have to be served with a subpoena."

Quirk said Matthews called three more times saying Trentadue wanted him to testify but that he did not want to.

Three of the four calls and two voice mail messages that Matthews left for Quirk were recorded and they "irrefutably demonstrate that it was Mr. Matthews who initiated contact with the Salt Lake Field Office and that SA Quirk did not threaten or attempt to discourage Mr. Matthews from testifying," the motion says.

Letting terrorists off the hook is dangerous, but inviting a terrorist to dine at the Pentagon is downright dangerous and bizarre. But that’s exactly what happened when Anwar al-Aulaqi, the American-born terrorist ultimately assassinated by President Obama, was asked to speak at a Pentagon luncheon.

The more we learn about what the government knew about al-Aulaqi, the more curious we become as to why this man was courted by those entrusted with our national security.

The same can be said for Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi national with known ties to terrorism who was arrested by British authorities working with the FBI days after the 9/11 attacks. Al-Bayoumi was subsequently released one week later. He remains at large.

Judicial Watch has been investigating the suspicious relationships between suspected terrorists and our federal government because we believe our national security has been compromised by cover-ups, incompetence and pro-jihadist political correctness.

JW recently released 79 pages of investigative reports from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) providing further evidence of ties between terrorist leaders Anwar al-Aulaqi and Omar al-Bayoumi, the government of Saudi Arabia, and FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) counter-terrorism investigations in the days leading up to the 9-11 terrorist attack.

Included in the new documents are dozens of pages of a case-establishing “Letterhead Memorandum” from the FBI’s Washington headquarters and San Diego field office. Limited portions of some of the memos had been previously released, but with many of the key elements heavily redacted. The documents came in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch against the U.S. Department of State and FBI on June 4, 2012.

Among the new revelations contained in the 79 pages of documents are the following:

The FBI had early suspicions about closer ties between Aulaqi and 9-11 hijacker Nawaf al-Hazmi than Aulaqi admitted: “This data suggests a more pervasive connection between al-Hazmi and Aulaqi than he [Aulaqi] admitted to during his interview with the FBI.”

The FBI had confirmed Aulaqi’s nexus with other FBI counter-terrorism investigations: “[Investigations] of Aulaqi reveal further links to other FBI International Terrorist investigations including … the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the United States.”

The documents explicitly state that as far back as 2001, Omar al-Bayoumi was reportedly a Saudi intelligence agent: “An individual who has requested confidentiality has stated al-Bayoumi is believed to have worked for the Saudi Arabian Intelligence Service and reports on dissident Saudis in the U.S. Rental and other records indicate al-Bayoumi consistently indicated his occupation as a student.”

Several pages of heavily redacted investigative reports contain analysis of pen registers of al-Aulaqi calls. These include a reference to an al-Aulaqi nexus with the DEA investigation, as well as contacts between al-Aulaqi and al-Bayoumi: “DEA Analysts are continuing analysis of telephone call activity …” and al-Aulaqi “… was also involved in call activity with … San Diego PENTTBOM subject OMAR AL-BAYOUMI. AL-BAYOUMI cosigned the lease of an apartment rented by [terrorist hijackers] NAWAF ALHAZMI and KHALID ALMIHDHAR.”

Omar al-Bayoumi’s activities while in San Diego, California, were apparently on behalf of the government of Saudi Arabia according to an unidentified FBI source: al-Bayoumi disclosed “to others at the Islamic Center of San Diego (ICSD) he had friends or contacts at the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles, California … [redacted] advised AL-BAYOUMI was extremely close to other ICSD Saudis … believed AL-BAYOUMI was in the United States on scholarship from the Saudi Airport Authority of Saudi Airlines ….” Saudi Airlines is the flag-carrying airline of Saudi Arabia.
Omar al-Bayoumi was one of dozens of other Saudis in the U.S. on similar arrangements: “[Redacted] identified AL-BAYOUMI as a ghost employee of AVCO Oversees … estimated that there were approximately fifty (50) individuals carried on the books and PCA or Dallah and being paid for doing nothing.” Dallah AVCO is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

According to a New York Times article on a secret Congressional report in 2003, Omar al-Bayoumi, a Saudi national, was suspected of being a Saudi intelligence agent who may have reported to Saudi government officials. The article said that al-Bayoumi was employed by a contractor to the Saudi civil aviation authority, and received payments authorized by a Saudi official. According to the Times story, “The payments authorized by the Saudi official increased significantly after Mr. al-Bayoumi came in contact with the two hijackers in early 2000, the classified part of the report states.”

And now al-Bayoumi--the suspected Saudi intelligence agent, who co-signed a lease on behalf of terrorist hijackers and served as a “ghost employee” for a Saudi shell company--is “at large.” Even though he was once in custody by British intelligence and the FBI.

With respect to al-Aulaqi, on September 11, 2013, Judicial Watch released surveillance reports and logs it had obtained from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealing that FBI agents trailed al-Aulaqi to the front doors of the Pentagon on the day he spoke as an invited guest at a Department of Defense luncheon.

The day before the surveillance and luncheon, al-Aulaqi had been identified as a “terrorist organization member,” and an FBI alert had been issued reading, “Warning – approach with caution . . . Do not alert the individual to the FBI’s interest and contact your local FBI field office at the earliest opportunity.” [Emphasis added]

Judicial Watch had previously obtained documents from the U.S. State Department indicating that the (FBI) was aware on September 27, 2001, that al-Aulaqi had purchased airplane tickets for three of the 9/11 terrorist hijackers, including mastermind Mohammed Atta.

Subsequent to the FBI’s discovery, al-Aulaqi was detained and released by authorities at least twice.

These documents suggest that serious questions remain about what an obvious Saudi intelligence asset was doing in assisting the 9/11 hijackers. As these newly released documents confirm, as far back as the 9/11 attacks, the FBI had substantial evidence that both al-Aulaqi and al-Bayoumi were involved in 9/11.

One was not punished for a dozen years, and the other still roams free. We intend to keep digging into this critical issue. Feedback on 9/11 Virtual Walking Tour

She had asked on September’s Teleconference call for feedback concerning the Tour, and several participants on the October call offered their comments and suggestions.

Advancing ballot initiatives, raising money

Nick Guillermo of truthactivism.com presented an ambitious plan to create a clearing house for ballot initiatives and a vehicle for raising money through a Super Pac that would be used to fund the initiatives. The object is to make 9/11 truth and other issues self-sustaining.

Can the American people now learn what it takes to keep someone with Ebola alive?
According to the Washington Post, NY's Bellevue Hospital plans to discharge Dr. Craig Spencer tomorrow. This is great news. Everyone who has been treated in the US, with the exception of Eric Duncan, has survived Ebola. All those we know about (9 people) were diagnosed and treated early, except Mr. Duncan.

This is an 89% survival rate, for a disease that was thought to have a 10-30% survival rate.

Does that mean Ebola is just another disease, and no match for the US healthcare system?

Is early diagnosis and good ICU care all that’s needed to keep someone with Ebola alive? If so, why haven't we been given all the details about how to care for Ebola in America?

I have my doubts things will remain this bright. I have been trying to piece the treatment together from incomplete media reports. As more information accrues, I will report on it.

Here’s what seems to have occurred:

All those who survived got blood products from earlier survivors. Usually this was convalescent serum or plasma. Dr. Brantley donated to at least Dr. Sacra, to nurse Pham and to photojournalist Mukpo. [Why isn’t he (and all the other survivors) on a schedule to donate plasma regularly and freeze it for future cases, instead of calling him up and asking him to give a unit when needed?] Brantley received a transfusion in Africa from a survivor. Nancy Writebol donated blood to Dr. Spencer.

All survivors (and Eric Duncan) received one or more of a variety of experimental drugs or monoclonal antibody products, including TKM-Ebola, ZMapp and brincidofovir. There is no official word whether any of these were felt to be beneficial in their recipients.

At least two people each required renal dialysis for kidney failure and ventilation for respiratory failure. CDC now says that all Ebola patients should be handled in hospitals that can provide continuous renal dialysis.

Many other aspects of the illness caused by Ebola may have had specific treatments, but I have searched and found no information about this. For example:
Cytokine storm is typical of Ebola, with extremely high levels of certain cytokines, like Interferon alpha. Has this been treated with immune suppressors, plasmapheresis or other modalities?
Coagulation abnormalities such as disseminated intravascular coagulation, with both bleeding and abnormal clotting, often occurs. How has this been successfully managed?
Ebola attacks endothelial cells, causing a capillary leak syndrome. Presumably this is managed in the lungs with ventilation. How is it managed in the rest of the body?
Liver failure is characteristic of Ebola, as the virus has an affinity for liver cells. Liver failure is notoriously difficult to manage. Have any special therapies been used in this regard?
Pancreatitis and adrenal cortical necrosis often occur. How are they managed?
I am surprised that even the medical media have failed to discuss the ins and outs of managing an Ebola patient. Hopefully, America's medical journalists will soon get on this.

The “Terrorist” Events of Wednesday October 22nd in Ottawa and two days earlier in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu bear all the hallmarks of a coordinated cross-border one-two punch false flag operation.

The first, the left jab hit-and-run killing of a Canadian soldier, would be the psychological softening up for the follow-up right cross, the killing of another Canadian soldier in Ottawa. Did the FBI tamper with a witness in OKC bombing evidence case?

SALT LAKE CITY — A federal judge has indicated he wants more investigation into allegations the FBI tampered with a witness in a trial over evidence and the Oklahoma City bombing.

At the end of a hearing Thursday, U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups stopped short of finding the FBI in contempt of court. Instead, he indicated that he would appoint a federal magistrate judge to oversee further investigation into the claims.

Judge Waddoups did rule that the FBI failed to file a report on the allegations in a timely manner.

“The report raises questions and is incomplete and insufficient to conclude if the FBI was involved in witness tampering,” he said over objections from government lawyers.

The claims of witness tampering spun out of a trial earlier this year over evidence and records connected to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Jesse Trentadue is suing over the death of his brother, Kenneth, whom he claims was mistaken for a bombing co-conspirator and killed while in federal custody during an interrogation.

Trentadue is seeking records, including videotapes that purport to show convicted bomber Timothy McVeigh pulling a truck in front of the Murrah building and leaving with someone else before the bomb went off. Trentadue has claimed that other person was an FBI operative.

“There’s no doubt in my mind and it’s proven beyond any doubt that the FBI knew the bombing was going to take place months before it happened,” he told FOX 13 outside of court on Thursday. “They didn’t stop it, and then the question becomes: How did you know and why didn’t you stop it?”

The FBI has insisted it had no advance knowledge of the bombing.

As part of his case for the records, Trentadue sought to call John Matthews, whom he claims was an undercover government operative who knew McVeigh. Matthews called the FBI’s Salt Lake City office and told an operator and an agent he did not want to testify.

Trentadue has accused the FBI of intimidating Matthews into refusing to testify, claiming FBI Special Agent Adam Quirk told him he didn’t have to without a subpoena. A report submitted to the court included transcripts of the conversation, which Justice Department lawyer Kathryn Wyer said found nothing inappropriate took place.

“The only reason Mr. Quirk talked to Mr. Matthews is he was the duty agent,” Wyer insisted. “He (Matthews) did not intend to testify.”

The report, which FOX 13 obtained from court records, shows investigators determined no witness tampering took place. However, it did chastise the FBI for not notifying Justice Department about the conversation with Matthews, and Agent Quirk gave a response that “could mistakenly have been construed as legal advice.”

They'll Be Back: PATCON, Oklahoma City, and Jesse Trentadue's Lonely Crusade for Justice

“His name used to be Don Jarrett,” long-time federal asset John Matthews told FBI Special Agent Adam Quirk during a July 9 phone call. Matthews was concerned that he would have to testify in a lawsuit filed by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue seeking the release of long-concealed video tapes from the `1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Trentadue believes that the suppressed tapes would help identify “John Doe II,” a dark-haired, heavy-set man seen by dozens of people in the company of Timothy McVeigh on the day of the bombing.

“John Doe II” remains at large, and the FBI is perversely determined to protect him. For reasons that will be explained anon, Trentadue is convinced that learning his identity is necessary in order to obtain a measure of justice on behalf of his late brother Kenneth, who was killed while in federal custody shortly after the bombing.

Matthews was scheduled to testify during a federal court hearing in Salt Lake City last July. On the basis of what he had told Trentadue, Matthews was expected to describe how the FBI was closely monitoring McVeigh in the hours leading up to the bombing.

The FBI continues to insist – despite abundant evidence to the contrary -- that there was no advance warning of the OKC terrorist attack, and that John Doe II and the "others unknown" referred to in Timothy McVeigh's indictment do not exist.

Trentadue maintains that there is a “strong possibility” that the long-suppressed video recordings captured McVeigh in the company of a second person who would be identifiable as “an FBI undercover operative."

During the July 9th phone call with Matthews, Mr. Jarrett told the jittery federal informant to avoid testifying if he could, and to perjure himself if he must. He was also instructed to call Special Agent Quirk, who eagerly reinforced that advice.

“I ain't goin' and I ain't saying nothing unless somebody issues me a subpoena,” Matthews told Quirk, according to a transcript obtained by Trentadue. Even if “they haul my @#$ to Salt Lake City, I'm gonna set [sic] there on the stand and say I don't recall anything.”

“That's fine,” was Quirk's approving reply to Matthews' announced intent to commit perjury.

In a conversation on the following day, Matthews reiterated his determination to avoid a subpoena.

“Well, yeah, and I mean – worst case scenario, even if you testified you can just – you can say you have, you know – you have nothing to say,” advised Quirk.

Matthews, eager to please a high-ranking officer of the American Cheka, suggested that he might take a trip in order to avoid receiving a subpoena.

“That's fine,” gloated Quirk. “F*ck 'em, right?”

It was during the second conversation with Quirk that Matthews explicitly mentioned his role as an undercover operative in an FBI initiative called called PATCON, or “Patriot Conspiracy.” This was a long-term provocation campaign in which the Bureau sought “to infiltrate and incite the militia and evangelical Christians to violence so that the Department of Justice could crush them,” explains Trentadue.

The man Matthews had known as “Don Jarrett” had been his FBI handler – and apparently still is, given the deference to him shown by Matthews. Now that the Regime has largely shifted its domestic focus from Muslims back to “sovereign citizens,” Jarrett is probably busy orchestrating homeland security theater operations involving the “Radical Right.”

Assuming that "Don Jarrett" is still the name of Matthews' former handler, he may currently be working as an "Independent Insurance Professional" in Florida. According to his vita, Jarrett retired from the FBI in 1998, becoming an insurance investigator and security consultant for the NFL. It's not clear how he wound up in Afghanistan last year: A May 1, 2013 email to Matthews reported that he was in Afghanistan, and that he expected to leave at the end of June.

Using his last known email address, I sent Jarrett a number of questions to which he has not replied. Given PATCON's history the chances are pretty good that wherever Jarrett finds himself, bad things are being done to innocent people.

“Ruby Ridge was a PATCON operation,” Trentadue has pointed out. “Waco was a PATCON operation. And so, too, I believe, was the Oklahoma City Bombing.”

The same is probably true of the little-remembered October 1995 sequel to the OKC Bombing – the derailment of the Sunset Limited, an Amtrak train carrying 248 passengers. Sleeping car attendant Mitchell Bates was killed and 78 others were injured when four of the train's 12 cars careened off a 30-foot trestle.



A rail joint bar supporting a critical section of the track had been removed by a saboteur who also knew how to short-circuit sensors that would have alerted the Amtrak engineer of trouble on the tracks ahead. Typewritten notes on both sides of the track expressed outrage over the familiar litany of federal crimes and claimed responsibility on behalf of a group calling itself “Sons of Gestapo” (SOG).

Publication of the SOG manifesto caused many foreheads to crease in puzzlement: This was a right-wing terrorist group so obscure that its existence was unknown even to Morris Dees and his ever-vigilant comrades, who are sensitive to every tremor of “right-wing extremism” occurring anywhere in the soyuz.

SOG was unknown prior to the derailment, and hasn't been heard from since. The FBI insists that it is continuing to investigate the derailment. For the past seven years, Victor Hooper, an electrical engineer from Anaheim, California, has been telling anybody in the Bureau who will listen that he knows who carried out that attack, and why it was done.

“That derailment was carried out by some of the people who helped McVeigh build the bomb for Oklahoma City,” Hooper insisted during a telephone interview with me. He claims to have known at least two of them as neighbors in Anaheim, where they became involved in drug trafficking as part of a neo-Nazi criminal syndicate –and that John Doe II is actually a young man he has known since childhood.

As Hooper tells the story, the man he identifies as John Doe II and whose identity is known to the FBI, worked closely with Kingman, Arizona resident Michael Fortier, who was involved in the OKC bombing plot and spent ten years in prison after agreeing to testify against McVeigh. According to Hooper, John Doe II told him that “McVeigh was trained in sabotage and taught him how to derail a train.”


He made a deal: Fortier.
Following the bombing, and publication of a composite sketch of “John Doe II,” FBI agents descended on Kingman en masse. Hooper claims that “Doe” and a handful of co-conspirators (who originally called themselves “Kings of Kings,” before adopting the moniker “Sons of Gestapo”) staged the Amtrak attack as a diversion, working in cooperation with another, longer-established neo-Nazi group.

“I heard these guys talking about derailing a train, but at the time I didn’t take it seriously,” Hooper told me. “For years I’ve been trying to get the FBI to act on this, and I’ve been told that the investigation is still open, but they’re not doing anything about this. They moved heaven and earth to get Osama bin Laden, but their investigation into John Doe II has been lackluster, at best. Why are they denying the testimony of twenty witnesses who saw McVeigh with another John Doe, and saying that John Doe II didn’t exist?”

“The FBI says that they’ve investigated the case, and they’ve planted agents around the people involved in the train derailment,” Hooper continued. “But it’s been nearly twenty years now, and they’ve not done anything about it.”

During his conversation with me, Hooper made it clear that he doesn’t hold Jesse Trentadue in particularly high esteem. However, they emphatically agree that the FBI knows the identity of John Doe II, and continues to protect him.

In a motion asking federal District Judge Clark Waddoups to hold the FBI in contempt of court, Tretadue points out that in 1995, Jarrett was involved in the Kingman, Arizona branch of the OKC Bombing investigation. At the time he was involved with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force in Phoenix, which was obsessively focused on "right-wing extremism."

The FBI poured a huge amount of resources into the Amtrak derailment investigation, which it styled "Operation Splitrail." As is nearly always the case, the operation was either a huge failure as an investigation, or a hugely successful effort to avoid solving the crime.

Trentadue learned as much when he was “contacted by a man named Victor Hooper … who claimed to have information about both the Bombing and the Palo Verde train derailment that occurred in Arizona shortly after the Bombing. Hooper told [Trentadue] that the derailment was done to distract the FBI from the Arizona part of the Bombing investigation.”

During a conversation with Matthews in 2013, Trentadue recounted what Hooper had told him. That information was relayed by Matthews to his handler, and a short time later Jarrett contacted Trentadue to tell him that the derailment case “was still open; that the derailment had in fact caused resources to be shifted away from the Arizona portion of the Bombing investigation; and that Jarrett himself was transferred from the Bombing investigation to the [derailment] case.”

Even more importantly, Jarrett demanded that Trentadue “keep the Hooper information confidential because Hooper knew things about how the derailment was carried out that only the perpetrators would have known and that he, Jarrett, or others within the FBI would follow up with Hooper.”

By “follow up,” Trentadue understood, Jarrett probably meant “shut down.” This can mean witness tampering, as in the case of John Matthews. It could mean protecting the identity of key undercover operatives, such as “John Doe II.” In the case of Kenneth Trentadue, it meant killing someone who had been misidentified as an FBI asset with critical knowledge of the Bureau’s role in the OKC bombing plot.

For the better part of two decades, Trentadue has tenaciously pursued the truth about the murder of his brother Kenneth while in federal custody.

On parole after serving prison time for bank robbery, Kenneth was detained in San Diego for a supposed parole violation and transported to the Federal Transfer Facility in Oklahoma City shortly after the bombing. His body was “found” hanging in its cell on August 21.

In body type, facial features, age, and even criminal record, Kenneth was a near-twin of Richard Lee Guthrie, a bank robber who was already in federal custody. Guthrie had been involved in a gang called the Aryan Republican Army (ARA) that staged bank robberies to fund domestic terrorism – including, apparently, the OKC bombing. Along with McVeigh, members of the ARA were frequent guests at a white supremacist commune in Oklahoma called Elohim City, which was overrun by government undercover operatives: German national Andres Strassmeir, Klan activist Dennis Mahon, Robert Millar, and former OKC socialite-turned-ATF asset Carol Howe.

The Feds who detained Kenneth Trentadue and beat him to death thought they were disposing of Guthrie, who knew enough about the government’s role in the OKC bombing to betroublesome. Not long after Kenneth was murdered, Guthrie fell victim to his own oddly staged “suicide.” This would have tied up some critical loose ends – if Kenneth’s family hadn’t found a dangling thread, and pulled on it has hard as they could.

By the time Kenneth's mother Wilma was informed of his death, the crime scene was sanitized and the body prepared for cremation. Through her shock and bereavement, Wilma Trentadue had the clarity of mind to demand that her son's body be preserved for a funeral.

As Wilma and older brother Jesse were finally allowed to see Kenneth's mortal remains, they were further afflicted by the company of Michael Hood, regional counsel for the Bureau of Prisons.

As Jesse later recalled the conversation, the suitably named Hood issued a singularly unsubtle warning: "The Bureau of Prisons, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office -- we're one big Justice Department.”

Jesse was astute enough to understand the import of that remark, and brave enough to treat it with the contempt it deserved. His resolution hardened into fury when he and his mother peeled away several layers of crudely applied makeup and examined the condition of Kenneth’s body.

"My brother had been so badly beaten that I personally saw several mourners leave the viewing to vomit in the parking lot!" Jesse wrote in an August 30, 1995 letter to the Bureau of Prisons that pulsated with tightly controlled rage. "Anyone seeing my brother's battered body with his bruised and lacerated forehead, throat cut, and blue-black knuckles would not have concluded that his death was either easy or a 'suicide'!”



Kenneth had committed crimes in his life and made his full allotment of mistakes, but at the time of his abduction he was the married, honestly employed father of a young child.

Finding himself the hopeless captive of the most despicable human beings defiling the earth, Kenneth defiantly chose to die on his own terms, thereby leaving behind evidence that his death was an act of state-sponsored murder, rather than despairing suicide.

"Had my brother been less of a man, your guards would have been able to kill him without inflicting so much injury to his body,” Jesse pointed out in his letter to the BoP. “Had that occurred, Kenney's family would forever be guilt-ridden over his death. Each of us would have lived with the pain of thinking that Kenneth took his own life and that we had somehow failed him. By making the fight he did for his life, Ken has saved us that pain, and God bless for having done so!"

In 2001, a federal judge ruled that the FBI had lied about the circumstances of Kenneth Trentadue’s death, and had destroyed vital evidence in the case. The family received $1.1 million in damages, $250,000 of which was set aside as a reward for information leading to the prosecution and conviction of Kenneth’s murderers. Jesse Trentadue has continued to pursue civil action against the FBI, beginning with his demand to see the suppressed video footage of the bombing. The Bureau, displaying the resourcefulness of inveterate liars with unlimited funds, has employed every dilatory and diversionary tactic it can conjure, including the remarkable excuse that the recordings are lost somewhere in the trackless depths of the agency’s evidence from the OKC bombing investigation.



Today (November 13) Trentadue was in court seeking to have the Bureau held in contempt, and asking for the appointment of a “special master” to “oversee [the FBI’s] compliance with the court’s orders, particularly relating to the allegations of witness tampering, and with Plaintiff’s FOIA request.” While acknowledging the agency’s misbehavior, and “chiding” them for it, Judge Waddoups declined to sanction the Bureau. That limp rebuke prompted a protest from the FBI’s attorney, Kathryn Wyer, who indignantly insisted that the matter was closed because the Bureau had investigated itself and found no wrongdoing.

In 2007, shortly after filing his FOIA request for the OKC bombing videos, Jesse Trentadue contacted by convicted co-conspirator Terry Nichols, who is serving a life sentence for his role in the bombing and cannot be tried again on capital charges. With Trentadue’s assistance, Nichols filed a deposition in a Salt Lake City federal court.

In that sworn statement, Nichols claimed that McVeigh — who allegedly had been recruited as an undercover intelligence asset while in the Army — had been working under the supervision of Larry Potts, the same FBI official who wrote the murderous “rules of engagement” at Ruby Ridge and later supervised the annihilation of the Branch Davidians at Mt. Carmel, Texas. Coordinating the OKC operation was a Deputy Attorney General named Eric Holder, who later played an important role in covering up the circumstances of Kenneth Trentadue’s death.

Trentadue's legal crusade began as an act of filial loyalty. It has become a struggle to expose the truth about the FBI's ongoing campaign of surveillance, infiltration, provocation, and political murder.

"The reason [the FBI] doesn't want that tape released is ... that one of the people getting out of that truck on the morning of April 19, 1995, was working for the FBI," Trentadue said in an interview with Lew Rockwell. "The FBI had, I now know, at least five or six undercover operatives linked in with McVeigh in Elohim City. What I don't know is the motivation behind the bombing.... What is not clear is whether it was a sting operation gone bad, that the plan was to stop it but the FBI failed, or else they wanted it to happen, as horrible as that sounds.... It's clear that they facilitated the bombing, directly or indirectly. It's clear they didn't stop it."

As is so often the case, the best defense the Regime can make on its behalf is to plead murderous incompetence. In the best Soviet-style tradition of bureaucratic privilege, those most deeply implicated in the crime have been abundantly rewarded.

Today, Larry Potts enjoys a well-compensated sinecure as a Vice President with ambiguous duties for the Scientific Games Corporation. Eric Holder, who reinstated the OKC-inspired domestic terrorism task force in January of this year, is stepping down as Attorney General in anticipation of an even more lucrative reward. John Doe II and his associates remain at large, as does Mr. Jarrett, and countless other members of the FBI’s merry troupe of Homeland Security Theater players. We’ll be hearing from them again.

Boston Bombing Prosecutor: Witnesses ‘Afraid’ to Testify

1The Boston Marathon bombing is much more important than has been acknowledged, principally because it is the defining domestic national security event since 9/11—and has played a major role in expanding the power of the security state. The defense witnesses in the Boston Bombing trial certainly have reason to be afraid to testify, given the long official intimidation campaign against them.

Yet, ironically, it is now the government that is claiming its witnesses are scared and even unwilling to testify. Unsurprisingly, the judge overseeing the trial against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has agreed with the prosecutors.

Since the Boston Marathon bombing last year, WhoWhatWhy has reported on a pattern of intimidation towards people associated with the accused bombers, Dzhokhar and his late elder brother, Tamerlan. Those connected to the case have been intimidated, deported, jailed, and even killed.

It got so bad that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s defense asked U.S. District Court Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. for permission to conceal the names of individual witnesses until the day before they’re due to testify. That’s because, the defense argues, they fear the witnesses will be subject to further FBI harassment.

Unusual Request

Judy Clarke, a member of the defense team, admitted it was an unusual request. “We don’t want to do it,” Clarke told the court. “We’re already struggling to get people to talk to us. We are really worried about losing the slim list of real potential witnesses we have.”

The government countered that it was having trouble convincing bombing victims to cooperate. They are “afraid, if not unwilling, to testify against the man accused of dismembering or traumatizing them in a terrorist attack.” Further, the prosecution argued, keeping Tsarnaev’s witnesses under wraps would hand him an unfair advantage.

On Nov. 12, O’Toole sided with the prosecution, ordering the defense to disclose its preliminary witness list by Dec. 29. He also announced that jury selection will begin on Jan. 5, when an initial 1,200 prospective jurors will be called in to fill out questionnaires over the course of the next three days.

Leaving aside the question of Tsarnaev’s guilt, which has been officially presented as a foregone conclusion with little outside critical analysis of the investigation, his chances at trial are numerically slim.

Civil libertarians are disappointed by the Kentucky senator's vote against debate on NSA reform legislation.

Rand Paul (R-Ky.) introduced the Fourth Amendment Restoration Act, a bill declaring that "the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution shall not be construed to allow any U.S. government agency to search the phone records of Americans without a warrant based on probable cause." The legislation was aimed specifically at stopping the National Security Agency (NSA) and other federal agencies from interpreting the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and the USA PATRIOT Act in ways that allows them to clandestinely collect and winnow through Americans' telephone and other electronic records. I entirely support the bill, but the sad truth is that it has garnered not a single cosponsor and it has gone nowhere.

What has gone somewhere, though this week it was stopped in its tracks, is the USA FREEDOM Act. This bill aims to limit the NSA's bulk collection of Americans' phone data under Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act. Specifically, it restricts the FBI to seeking the records related to specific individuals, phone numbers, and email accounts based on a "reasonable, articulable suspicion" that they are associated with a foreign power or its agent engaged in international terrorism or activities in preparation for such terrorism. The FBI would also no longer be able to engage in electronic dragnets by demanding to see the records of every customer of a telecommunications service provider or everyone who lives in a particular zip code or city.

Other provisions dealt with National Security Letters which are administrative subpoenas that the FBI uses without judicial oversight to directly order companies to turn over the banking, telephone, and Internet usage records of their customers and then gag the companies from telling anyone that they did so. In order to forestall agencies from reinterpreting NSLs to permit dragnet surveillance, the bill set the same standard on NSLs as it did on searches under Section 215, that is, limiting them to specific individuals, accounts, phone numbers, and so forth.

The USA FREEDOM Act would also increase the transparency of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court by allowing it to appoint a privacy advocate in certain cases, seek technical information about the operation of surveillance programs, and require the disclosure of significant decisions relating to Americans' privacy rights.

Earlier this week, the bill needed the votes of 60 senators in order for debate on the bill to proceed. It garnered only 58, and so it did not make it to the floor. One of the 42 voting against was Sen. Paul.

"I think NSA reforms are necessary and I will continue to fight against bulk data collection," Paul explained in an emailed statement. "Last night, I stood on principle by opposing a bill that included a provision reauthorizing elements of the Patriot Act that violate the Bill of Rights. I have always been steadfast against the Patriot Act and I will continue to do all I can to prevent its extension."

Paul specifically objected that the act would extend three provisions of the PATRIOT Act beyond their June 1, 2015, sunset dates to 2017. These include bulk collection of records under Section 215, secret "lone wolf" surveillance of non-U.S. persons not affiliated with any terrorist organization, and roving wiretaps that allow one authorization to cover multiple devices—say, an unnamed suspect's cell phone, computer, and tablet.

Cato Institute policy analyst Julian Sanchez tells me that while the lone wolf surveillance provision is "somewhat concerning," it has never been used. With regard to roving wiretaps, the idea that law enforcement should be able to legally track the communications of an identified terrorism suspect across multiple devices is reasonable. The Patriot Act, however, permits the government to apply for a warrant where they don't know who the target is AND they also don't have the full list in advance of the accounts they want to tap. So far such open ended warrants are not common since the government has generally identified a specific target.* Sanchez makes the further point that the USA FREEDOM Act would actually amend Section 215 to limit bulk collection, so extending it to 2017 would be much less problematic.

Most civil libertarians agree with Sen. Paul that the bill is far from perfect. Nevertheless, they wanted the debate to proceed. "I respect that Sen. Paul has been trying to reform the NSA for a long time, but it is disappointing that he voted against moving forward on the bill," says ACLU legislative counsel Neema Singh Guliani. "It is a huge step back, a huge lost opportunity."

Similarly, Electronic Frontier Foundation legislative analyst Mark Jaycox praises Paul as "a very good advocate on privacy" but adds that "it was disappointing that he voted against debating the bill." Jaycox argues that if Paul thought the bill was too weak and needed strengthening, he could have offered amendments during the debate. If those amendments had failed, the senator could have voted against it at that time. Both Guliani and Jaycox believe the USA FREEDOM Act is a good first step in a long process of ending domestic surveillance abuses.

NSA SpyingEFF"I have not heard a single person plausibly argue that we will get more robust and more far-reaching reform now that this bill has failed," says Sanchez. "I am with him [Paul] in spirit, but I don't see how this works strategically."

On the other hand, Sanchez' Cato colleague Patrick Eddington suggests that the June 1, 2015, sunset date on the three PATRIOT Act provisions will make congressional debate on NSA surveillance reform an urgent matter this coming spring. As that date approaches, NSA enablers such as future Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell may be frantic to save some Section 215 surveillance capabilities.

Eddington believes that there is a strong enough bipartisan libertarian/progressive coalition in the House of Representatives to allow the sunsetting provisions of the Patriot Act die in June, if no agreement on substantial s

The year 2013, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, produced scores of new books about the murder. Two of the best are Reclaiming Parkland and Survivor’s Guilt.
Reclaiming Parkland

James DiEugenio’s Reclaiming Parkland (Skyhorse Publishing) is an excellent example of the work-product of the current generation of academics and responsible researchers who, with a few exceptions, reject the Warren Report’s major conclusions, including its Oswald-was-the-lone-assassin theory, a theory which to their credit most Americans have never believed, anyway. DiEugenio, a leading authority on the assassination, founded Citizens for Truth About the Kennedy Assassination, whose website, ctka.net, is an invaluable source of information on JFK’s murder.

Survivor’s Guilt

Survivor’s Guilt: The Secret Service and the Failure to Protect President Kennedy (Trine Day), was authored by Vincent Michael Palamara, who long has been the preeminent authority on the extraordinary—and strange—acts of omission or commission by the Secret Service which made JFK’s preventable murder possible. Survivor’s Guilt not only catalogs these astonishing lapses (which were covered up for years) but also proves—shockingly—that after the assassination some of agents assigned to protect JFK took part in what Palamara calls a “blame-the-victim crusade,” in which they falsely claimed that JFK had given them directives which thwarted their efforts to protect him. And, Palamara sagely points out, “[t]o blame the deceased President after the fact is very suspicious, to say the least…”
It has long been recognized that the Secret Service failed abysmally in protecting JFK in Dallas, and Palamara thinks it possible that some Secret Service officials might have been part of a conspiracy to murder JFK. Though terrible to contemplate, this view can no longer be airily dismissed. Indeed, when interviewed by a congressional committee in 1978, a Secret Service Agent in Charge in Florida acknowledged “that, for all he knew, someone in the Secret Service could possibly have been involved in assassination.”
Here is a sampling of the disturbing facts Survivor’s Guilt brings to our attention:
• Unusually, both of the agents in charge of the presidential detail, one or the other of whom would always be at the side of JFK on trips, were taking the day off on Nov. 22, 1963, even though the Secret Service was aware of active plots to shoot JFK while he was motorcading, and even though the city he was visiting, Dallas, was known to be a hotbed of right-wing extremism and Kennedy-hating radical reactionaries. Their replacement was an agent who had never before acted in a supervisory capacity on a major presidential trip. It was this agent, sitting in the front passenger seat, who, when the shots rang out, infamously and in violation of regulations made no effort to get to, shield or warn JFK. (President Johnson later said this agent “was about as dumb as an ox.”)
• When the limousine came under fire, the agent driving the car, instead of reacting swiftly, swiveled his head twice to look back at JFK. He also committed two gross violations of regulations: He slowed down rather than speeding up, and he did not swerve the car. (At least 50 eyewitnesses, including Dallas police officers, reported that the limousine either stopped or almost stopped.) Only after JFK’s fatal headshot did the driver accelerate.
• When the shooting began, the agent in charge of the followup car five feet behind the limousine, whose job was to keep JFK in sight at all times, “nstead of offering a shout of alarm, alert or orders to his agents to do something… did nothing to help the wounded president.” In fact, he ordered one of the agents who was about to rush to the limousine to remain on the followup car.
• It is well known that the night before the assassination, in violation of regulations, nine of the agents on JFK’s presidential detail, including four of the agents who ended up in the followup car on Nov. 22, had been out drinking as late as 3 a.m. (It is also now known that presidential detail agents regularly violated the no-drinking rule.)
• Numerous witnesses remarked on the sluggish response of the agents in the followup car once the shooting began. A Dallas newspaper reporter, Mary Woodward, for example, said in an interview: “I could not believe how well-trained Secret Service people could have reacted so slowly… [H]ad there been proper reaction time the man might still be alive today.”
• “JFK’s military aide, Gen. Godfrey McHugh, a devout Kennedy loyalist, was relegated to the distant VIP car in the Dallas motorcade… [McHugh] was asked by the Secret Service for the first time to ride in the back, instead, as normally [he] would do, between the driver and the Secret Service agent [in the front seat].”
• Curiously, George Burkley, JFK’s physician, who usually rode in a car not far behind the president’s limousine, was shoved into a bus located far back in the motorcade.
• In a motorcade, the president’s limousine usually would be immediately preceded by an open car or flatbed truck loaded with press photographers. In Dallas, however, for no known reason, at the last minute the press car was shoved far back in the motorcade. This meant, of course, that when the assassination occurred, press photographers could not record the event on film.
• JFK’s motorcade route through Dallas required the motorcade to proceed through, rather than bypassing Dealey Plaza, which was a dangerous place because it was surrounded by tall buildings and otherwise the perfect site for an ambush. To reach the Trade Mart, where JFK was to speak, driving through Dealey Plaza was unnecessary. Under the Dealey Plaza route, JFK’s limousine had to drive along Elm Street after first making a “slow, 120 degree turn, which was a violation of Secret Service protocol and common sense,” Palamara tells us. To this day, it is unknown who in the Secret Service made the disastrous decision to have the motorcade travel through Dealey Plaza, where JFK was the victim of hidden sniper fire. (Palamara is wrong, however, in asserting that the Dealey Plaza route was the result of a last-minute change of plans occurring between Nov. 18–20. Although it is true that the route had not been finalized as of Nov. 14, the Dealey Plaza route was adopted no later than Nov. 18, four days before the assassination.)
• In violation of regulations, the Secret Service failed to have the buildings along the motorcade route inspected and also failed to check in advance the Dealey Plaza intersection where the limousine had to make the sharp turn onto Elm.
• The day before the assassination, the Secret Service cancelled a Dallas police plan to have a car full of detectives with automatic weapons inserted into the motorcade two or three cars behind the presidential limousine.
• Also the day before the assassination, and most unusually, the Secret Service weakened escort security by ordering that the number of police motorcycles in the motorcade be reduced, and by directing that the motorcycles near the limousine should not flank it but instead position themselves at its rear. This meant that JFK was significantly less protected than he had been the day before when motorcading through San Antonio, a much less dangerous locale. As a congressional committee acknowledged in 1979, “The Secret Service deprived Kennedy of security in Dallas that it had provided a mere day before.”
• Prior to the assassination, the Secret Service knew of recent threats on the life of JFK and of active plots to kill him. In fact, “the White House detail had a pretty good idea that somebody had been stalking [JFK] for a long time.” (Palamara adds: “The odd, preternatural obsession JFK had with death that developed right before Dallas was likely due to his knowledge, directly or indirectly, of the threats on his life.”)
• The Secret Service’s claim that its Protective Research Section disclosed no “subjects of record” who might pose a danger to JFK in Dallas “is simply impossible,” given the city’s “rabid right-wing environment… and countless other threats.”
Reclaiming Parkland and Survivor’s Guilt are among the multiple reasons why it should now be evident to Americans that they were hornswoggled by the Warren Report when it claimed there was no conspiracy behind the JFK assassination and whitewashed the suspicious behavior of the Secret Service before and on Nov. 22, 1963.

It’s Thanksgiving 2014. You’re still here – reading this. So….
Be thankful. Be very, verythankful.
Terrible things have happened. Terrible things are happening. And undoubtedly, terrible things will continue to happen.
But it could be a whole lot worse.
And yes, I know it’s bad. Every week, Jim Fetzer and I bring you a hideously depressing summary of all of the awful things going on in the world. It’s a TV show called False Flag Weekly News, and it goes out live onNoLiesRadio.orgevery Thursday at 8 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Eastern. This week we will be bringing you a special Thanksgiving episode guaranteed to stuff your inner turkey with appallingly demoralizing reports about the most insufferably disheartening happenings.
If you watch False Flag Weekly News regularly, you will be atrociously well-informed about the unbearably hideous events transpiring on this benighted planet.
Even incurably optimistic people have been cured of that dread disease by watching False Flag Weekly News. Two Oklahoma Airports: David Boren, KuwAm, and 9/11

There are many connections between the events of 9/11 and Oklahoma
City. Some of these connections revolve around the alleged 9/11
hijackers, the “20th hijacker” Zacarias Moussaoui, and a couple of
airports around Oklahoma City. Looking closer at the airport
connections reveals startling coincidences with regard to the people
who ran World Trade Center (WTC) security company Stratesec, as well
as CIA Director George Tenet’s mentor, David Boren, who is currently
the co-chairman of President Obama’s Intelligence Advisory Board.

Independent investigators have shown that there are striking links
between the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma
City (OKC) and the events of 9/11.[1, 2] Recently, many 9/11
investigators have become more interested in learning the truth about
the OKC bombing after being exposed to the excellent film A Noble
Lie.[3]

The OKC investigations have revealed eyewitnesses accounts of the
sighting in Oklahoma of Mohamed Atta and five other 9/11 hijacker
suspects.[4] Last year, an article in the Oklahoma Gazette confirmed
that records show Atta, Marwan Al-Shehhi, Nawaf Al-Hazmi and Zacarias
Moussaoui all “either visited or lived in Oklahoma from July 2000 to
August 2001.”[5]

Between February and August of 2001, Zacarias Moussaoui lived in
Norman, Oklahoma and attended Airman Flight School at Max Westheimer
Airport, which is owned and operated by the University of Oklahoma.
Moussaoui even lived in a university dormitory. According to
Moussaoui’s indictment, Atta and Al-Shehhi had visited the same flight
school in July, 2000, but did not take classes there.

Westheimer Aiport is just three miles northwest of Norman and was
originally a U.S. Navy flight training field. A squadron of the Civil
Air Patrol (CAP), a federally supported, non-profit corporation that
serves as the official civilian auxiliary of the U. S. Air Force,
still gathers at Westheimer every week.[6] Coincidentally, several of
the alleged 9/11 hijackers rented apartments in Delray Beach, Florida
from a member of CAP. One of the apartments was said to be “a meeting
ground for terrorists.” The CAP member landlord, Mike Irish, turned
out to be the first intended victim of the October 2001 anthrax
attacks. One of his employees actually died from the anthrax.[7]

In 2005, Airman Flight School shut down due to its inability to pay
rent and the university newspaper revealed the name of the company
that had leased the building. “The airport building is owned by the
University of Oklahoma. A Cleveland County District Court order had
granted possession of the building to the current landlord, Baker
Hughes, Inc., of Houston, which leases the building from OU.” Baker
Hughes is an oil services company that is among an elite few making a
killing off of the Iraq War.[8]

Dale Davis, the vice president of Airman Flight School, said FBI
agents showed up at the facility asking questions about Moussaoui and
had been there before. “Davis said FBI agents had visited his school
just two years earlier to inquire about Ihab Ali Nawawi, who took
flight training there in 1993 and was later charged in connection with
the 1998 US Embassy bombings in Africa, which were blamed on bin
Laden’s group. Davis also confirmed that Atta and another suspected
hijacker, Marwan al-Shehhi, visited Airman Flight School, staying
overnight at the school’s dormitory in the nearby Sooner Inn, before
deciding to train at another facility.”[9]

Weeks after 9/11, however, FBI Director Robert Mueller repeated his
false assertion that federal authorities had no idea that terrorists
were using U.S. flight schools to train for piloting commercial
airliners. ”There were no warning signs that I’m aware of that would
indicate this type of operation in the country,” he said.[10]
Apparently he had forgotten about the famous July 2001 Phoenix memo
and several other related warnings focused on that exact risk.[11]

Established in 1989, Airman Flight School was owned by Jerry Carroll
and Brenda Keene. Apparently Carroll and Keene bilked a number of
their students out of their life savings as the flight school was
going under. But the service was very good in some cases, considering
that — “Flight instructor Juan Carlos [Merida] picked up Moussaoui at
Will Rogers World Airport when he came to Oklahoma and took him back
to the airport when he left.”[12]

Airman’s students sued Carroll and Keene when the business collapsed,
along with KJB Flight Management, an entity of which Keene and David
Batton were principals. KJB had tried to buy Airman and was managing
the school until it closed.[13] David Batton was, at one time, the
Cleveland County Assistant District Attorney. The Panamanian Juan

By all accounts, the unprecedented events of September 11th, 2001 “changed everything”. It is therefore critical that conscientious Americans, as well as all good people around the world, understand these events in detail. Unfortunately the official reports, including The 9/11 Commission Report and the NIST WTC Report, written by those working under the direction of the Bush Administration, fall far short of providing the explanations needed.
Both the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and my former employer, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), seem to have taken the stance that the public does not have a right to know what fire resistance tests were performed on the steel component assemblies used to build the World Trade Center (WTC) towers. But since NIST’s latest story for collapse of the WTC towers depends on the fire-induced failure of these steel components, there is little information that could be more important at this time.
When I worked there, top management at UL made clear to me that UL performed these required tests. They have since stated that there is “no evidence” that any firm tested the steel. Being tax-exempt, due to their status as a public safety-testing organization, UL should be held accountable for being honest and open with the public about the history of their testing.
To help ensure this accountability, my attorneys and have been pursuing legal actions against UL. We hope to gain more information about UL’s role in the testing of the WTC steel assemblies, and any other involvement UL has had with the WTC towers or the NIST investigation. We welcome any information or other support from the public as we attempt to provide this critical public service.

Spurned FBI Agent's Suit Against Agency Revived



An Egyptian FBI agent who says the bureau denied him a counterterrorism position, and placed him instead in a position for which he was overqualified, may have a discrimination case after all, a federal judge ruled.
Bassem Youssef sued former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in 2011, claiming that he was denied an assistant section chief position in the FBI's counterterrorism division because of his race, and in retaliation for his having filed an Equal Employment Opportunity complaint against the agency in 2003.
After U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly dismissed Youssef's racial discrimination claims in January, and a jury returned a verdict against him for his remaining discrimination claim, the D.C. Circuit reversed Kollar-Kotelly's ruling and remanded the case back to her for further proceedings.
This time around, the judge ruled against the FBI, denying its motion to dismiss Youssef's claim that his transfer to the bureau's document exploitation unit was discriminatory.
"Upon careful consideration of the pleadings, the relevant legal authorities, and the record as a whole, the Court finds that while certain evidence and arguments raised by Youssef are either inadmissible or legally flawed, the inferences that a reasonable trier of fact could draw from Youssef's remaining evidence could either support a finding that discrimination occurred or that it did not and, thus, the ultimate question of whether Youssef's transfer to DocEx was motivated by national origin discrimination is best left to a jury," Kollar-Kottely states in her 22-page federal ruling.
Youssef says the FBI denied him the position with the counterterrorism division in the wake of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
"Specifically, Youssef points to the fact that, despite his counterterrorism experience, Arabic language skills, and expressed interest in serving in the Counterterrorism Division, he was not called into service in the Counterterrorism Division immediately after the 9/11 attacks while many agents at his grade level were called into service," the judge writes. "Youssef also points to the fact that, once transferred to DocEx, he was not selected as the Acting Unit Chief for the overall DocEx project, while a lower GS-14 agent was selected for the position."
According to the ruling, Youssef also proffered 12 pieces of evidence that he says reveals the false nature of the FBI's justification for not promoting him.

Nothing but a Northern Lynching’: The Assassination of Fred Hampton

At 4:30 in the morning of December 4, 1969, 14 heavily armed Chicago police officers, acting at the direction of Cook County State’s Attorney Edward V. Hanrahan, raided a tiny apartment on the west side of Chicago where local Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton and eight Party members were sleeping. Minutes later, Hampton and Peoria, Illinois BPP leader Mark Clark lay dead, several of the other Panthers were seriously wounded, and the survivors were hauled off to jail on attempted murder charges.



I was a second year Northwestern law student working at the fledgling People’s Law Office when I received a call that “the Chairman had been murdered” and was directed to come to the apartment. The crime scene was shocking — the plasterboard walls looked like swiss cheese, ripped by scores of bullets from police weapons that included a machine gun, a semi automatic rifle, and several shotguns. A large pool of blood stained the floor at the doorway where Hampton’s body had been dragged after he was shot in the head, and there were fresh blood stains on all the beds in the apartment.

I had met Chairman Fred only months before when I escorted him to the Law School to speak to the student body in venerable Lincoln Hall. He was only 21 years old, but he captivated the audience, as he always did, with his dynamic and analytical speaking skill, a mixture of Malcolm X, Dr. King, and Lupe Fiasco. It was his unique leadership, together with the revolutionary politics he so convincingly espoused, that made him a primary target of law enforcement.

Directly after the raid, State’s Attorney Hanrahan and his police loudly proclaimed that the “vicious Black Panthers” had instigated a “shootout” during which they fired a fuselage of shots at the raiders. The cold and bloody crime scene made lie of this official story, and Panther members led thousands of people on tours of the apartment for the next 10 days while People’s Law Office lawyers and staff documented the evidence that would later establish that the police fired 99 bullets while the Panthers fired but one. A elderly African-American lady best captured this reality when she said, while sadly shaking her head during the tour, that the raid was “nothing but a Northern lynching.”

Confronted with the ballistics evidence, Hanrahan was forced to drop the attempted murder charges against the surviving Panthers. The Richard Nixon Justice Department investigated, but refused to indict. In response to community outrage, a specially appointed Cook County prosecutor subsequently indicted Hanrahan, his first assistant, and a number of the raiding officers, not for murder or attempted murder, but rather only for obstruction of justice. A Democratic machine judge acquitted Hanrahan and his co-conspirators on the eve of the 1972 election, but an inflamed African-American electorate voted Hanrahan out of office, spawning a movement that paved the way for the election of Mayor Harold Washington a decade later.

All the while, the People’s Law Office continued to litigate a civil rights lawsuit in federal court on behalf of the Hampton and Clark families and the survivors of the raid. Through the discovery process, we unearthed FBI documents showing that the FBI’s secret COINTELPRO program was behind the raid. The documents, which were suppressed by the FBI for years, together with independent toxicological tests, further revealed that an FBI COINTELPRO agent supplied a floor plan of the Panther apartment, complete with markings where Hampton slept, to Hanrahan’s raiders; that William O’Neal, the COINTELPRO informant who drew the floor plan, most likely drugged Hampton so that he could not defend himself; and that after the raid FBI director J. Edgar Hoover rewarded O’Neal with a $300 bonus for making the raid a “success.”

In 1983, after an 18 month trial and 13 years of litigation, the City of Chicago, Cook County and the federal government all finally settled with the Hampton and Clark families and the survivors of the raid.

While this financial settlement brought some modicum of justice, no one, except the Panther survivors, ever spent a day in jail. But the murderous raid, once falsely depicted as a shootout, is now rightly considered not only to be a northern lynching, but also an official assassination that was instigated by the FBI. And while we will never know what heights Fred Hampton would have reached as a leader had he lived, we do know, in the words first spoken in eulogy by People’s Law Office attorney Francis Andrew nearly 43 years ago, that the spirit of Fred Hampton continues to live on.

Al Barq was shipped to Jordan and then ended up in Israel — all this time he has been held in secret prisons. I named him about a decade ago after President Bush in a State of the Union address referred to Sufaat and two unnamed assistants.

Ayman Zawahiri’s recently detained representative has been deported to Jordan.

Samar al Barq was a secret prisoner in Jordan before being a secret prisoner in Israel.

The policy issue of torture and rendition is beyond the true crime focus of the blog, but I do note that apart from torture, there is a related issue of rendition to countries who torture.

Representative of Ayman al Zawahiri reportedly captured in Turkey

An operative who was dispatched to Libya by al Qaeda emir Ayman al Zawahiri was reportedly captured in Turkey and is now being held in Jordan.

A Turkish daily, the Milliyet, first reported Azzouz’s capture earlier this month. The Milliyet’s reporting was subsequently picked up by other Turkish press outlets.

Azzouz was handpicked by Zawahiri to oversee al Qaeda’s efforts in post-revolution Libya. According to the Turkish reports, Azzouz was detained in mid-November after the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Turkish authorities located him in the “summer resort” area of Yalova, which is south of Istanbul. Two laptops and a fake passport were captured along with Azzouz.

According to an account by the Washington Post, Azzouz was soon deported to Jordan, where he is currently being held.

Investigative journalist Daniel Hopsicker, producer of the new video, "Mohamed Atta and the Venice Flying Circus," was a guest on the Dec. 15 broadcast of Radio Free America, the weekly call-in talk forum sponsored by American Free Press with host Tom Valentine.

Joining Valentine as co-host for the evening was AFP Correspondent Michael Collins Piper. The two discussed Hopsicker's shocking discoveries - outlined in his video - that prove, beyond any question, that the U.S. government has been officially covering up explosive facts about the activities and associations of reputed 9-11 hijacking ringleader Mohamed Atta.

Valentine:

For all intents and purposes, as your research into Barry Seal has shown - along with the work of many others who have dared to look into the subject matter - the world's largest cargo airline has been run by the CIA. Intelligence officials have a definite link to this little Venice airport, don't they? Some people would argue that it was "just a coincidence" that Atta and the 9-11 boys would come there to learn to fly.

Hopsicker:

It's beyond coincidence at this point. In fact, you'll even find that the owner of the flight school in Venice, Wallace J. Hilliard, was in business with a key figure in the Whitewater scandal, Truman Arnold, a Bill Clinton crony from Arkansas who had been the finance chairman of the Democratic Party.
Arnold's attorney in Whitewater was longtime Washington figure Richard Ben-Veniste, who was just named to sit on the 9-11 investigation panel.

So, Ben-Veniste has ties to people he is supposed to be investigating. So when you are talking, in this case, about the owner of the "terror flight school" you are talking about a person that anyone might naturally consider a possible suspect.

Hilliard, a 70-year-old multimillionaire health insurance executive and a self-styled Mormon bishop, inexplicably went into business three years ago with a Dutch native living in America, Rudy Dekkers, and began buying flight schools which shortly thereafter were flooded with Arab student pilots.

Initially, I thought that Dekkers owned the flight school. But Hilliard was always the true owner of the flight school where Atta and one of the other 9-11 hijackers trained.

There was another hijacker who trained next door at the Florida Flight Training Center which - coincidentally, you might say - is also owned by a Dutch native.

It appears that Zaccarias Moussaoui who is scheduled to go on trial for conspiracy in the 9-11 attacks was also here.

Valentine:

The federal authorities came in and grabbed up all of the records of the flight school.

Hopsicker:

That's right. They flew them out on a plane that also had Jeb Bush aboard.

Valentine:

The federal authorities told the local law enforcement authorities to keep their noses out of the investigation, didn't they?

Hopsicker:

That's correct. I sat down with two Southern lawmen, a current sheriff and his immediate predecessor. These two guys looked me dead in the eye and said that, based on what they have seen with a lot of CIA-connected covert operations in the area, the CIA was somehow involved in, if not responsible for, the World Trade Center attacks.
You might expect some wild-eyed leftist radical to say that. But these are two Southern sheriffs. They have spent years watching CIA activities that they could not interfere with.

Piper:

I'd like to make a comment about your video, "Mohamed Atta and the Venice Flying Circus." I have to say it was riveting. There are a lot of people who are looking into 9-11, focusing on various theories and propositions that run contrary to the official government version of the events.
However, what Daniel Hopsicker has done in this video has taken a very specific set of circumstances and events linked specifically to the people who are alleged by the government to have committed the 9-11 atrocity and has uncovered all of these remarkable facts - not theories. If you look at this aspect of the whole 9-11 story, the portion that Daniel has assembled, and you see all the holes in the "official" story in the context of what Daniel has presented, then you know that there is a much bigger cover-up and a much bigger scandal beyond what Daniel has covered.

Valentine:

Who are these Dutch fellows? How did they get involved?

Hopsicker:

That's the question. Who are these guys? Why were they training hundreds of Arabs here in America to fly? There aren't that many flight jobs in the Arab world, yet they were training hundreds of men for only a handful of jobs. So something else was really going on. And what they did simply did not make business sense. They paid twice what the flight school in Venice was worth, clearly throwing around somebody else's money.

If you were the CIA and you were running some secret operation in this country and you wanted to create plausible deniability, then why not bring in two Dutch men to come to the United States and run the flight school for you?

It's a big story. I will tell you that I have just completed a three-hour taped interview with Atta's American girlfriend.

Valentine:

I didn't even know that Atta had an American girlfriend.

Hopsicker:

Well, there you go again. You have to ask yourself why you didn't know that. Don't you think you would have seen a ton of stories - at least in the supermarket tabloids - about this woman under titles such as "I Dated a Terrorist." The truth is that this woman is in hiding. I had to track her down and convince her to talk to me.

Valentine:

One would normally think that you can sell that to The National Enquirer.

Hopsicker:

I don't think they are interested.

Valentine:

No, they probably are not interested. I think the Enquirer is a front for these operations, too. In fact, my colleague here, Michael Collins Piper, did a pioneering story for the old Spotlight pointing out that all of the tabloids are owned by one company - most people don't realize that - which is controlled by a Wall Street banker named Roger Altman, who, as a deputy treasury secretary under Bill Clinton, was - again - a key figure in the Whitewater scandal.

Piper:

That's correct. The fact is that the tabloids have a long-standing relationship with the CIA that goes back to the early years of both the tabloids and the CIA itself.

Valentine:

So the tabloids probably won't be interested in any stories that might implicate the CIA in any covert activities involving the circles around Atta.

Hopsicker:

Atta's girlfriend was a pink-haired stripper. She lived with him for two months before she kicked Atta out when she found a new boyfriend.

From what she described, we've been able to positively identify five people who were close associates of Atta. I don't mean fellow student pilots. I'm talking about people he went to meetings with. They are all still alive and I will tell you this: they are not Arabs. They are all Germans.

Here's Atta, who spent eight years in a two-year urban planning collegiate program in Hamburg, Germany. What was Atta doing in German for all those years? Didn't anyone in Germany notice that this foreign national had spent eight years in a two-year program? Of course they did. Atta was an intelligence agent.

And from what his girlfriend told me. Atta was psychopathic enough to have done what he is said to have done. And he did hate the United States. I have no proof that he was the guy who flew into the World Trade Center, but everything I have shows that he could have.

Valentine:

Does anyone really have any proof as to who the hijackers are who were aboard those planes?

Hopsicker:

Not to my knowledge. I haven't followed that end of it.

Piper:

All we really know is that persons - using the passports and identities of foreign nationals, mostly Saudis - were aboard those ill-fated planes and that they spoke Arabic. But Israel's Mossad has a long documented record of infiltrating Arab terrorist organizations with Arabic-speaking Jews who pose as Arabs.
And it should be noted that even many Arabs had some real doubts about whether Ramzi Yousef, who organized the first World Trade Center bombing, was really even an Arab.
That fact is not very well known nor is it mentioned by people such as Larry Klayman of Judicial Watch who is trying to connect Yousef and Saddam Hussein to the Oklahoma City bombing.

Valentine:

What is this German connection?

Hopsicker:

I don't have the slightest clue. But then, again, speaking of the Oklahoma City bombing, just ask yourself the question: Who was Andreas Strassmeir, the German national, who was intimately tied to the circumstances surrounding the Oklahoma City bombing?

Valentine:

Strassmeir was the close friend of self-styled "Southern rights activist" Kick Lyons who played a part in the destruction of Liberty Lobby, the populist institution that published The Spotlight.

Piper:

When you mentioned this German connection, I immediately thought of Lyon's friend Strassmeir who - although German and ostensibly a "neo-Nazi" - turns out to be quite fluent in Hebrew, the state language of Israel.

As much as it will surprise many people, the fact is that Israeli and German intelligence are very, very tightly interconnected, going back to the days of German General Reinhard Gehlen (who became a U.S. asset after World War II and who worked quite closely with the Israelis, a point that many people like to forget).

And if you bother to look into the Lavon Affair of the 1950s, when the Israelis plotted terrorist attacks against U.S. installations in Egypt to be falsely blamed on the Muslim Brotherhood, there were Germans involved in that little venture.

Hopsicker:

Well, I will say this: I know some other things that I'm not telling right now. There are ties to the former KGB in all of this. The KGB has been around Hilliard's operation in Venice. I don't know why they were there, but I know that Hilliard knew they were there. And not just the KGB, there were individuals who flew for the Israeli military who were there at the Venice airport.

How much do the local law enforcement authorities in Venice know about all of this?

Hopsicker:

They aren't stupid. But there's a limit to what they can do. I interviewed the local chief of police in Venice and he was totally apologetic about what he was forced to allow to happen in his town. The police were not allowed to touch Dekkers's operation at the Venice airport.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, for example, told the police to stay away. The airport had a "green light," whatever that means.

The chief told me that the Venice airport was the kind of place where it was not unusual to see an American military helicopter touch down at three in the morning and then take off again.

This sounds like the Mena, Ark., airport all over again.

All of the facts that Daniel has presented in his video have been suppressed by every newspaper in the world, except, of course, for American Free Press. All of this information points to one thing: that Atta was not just "working for Osama bin Laden," if he was even working for bin Laden at all. Atta was moving in circles that were under the discipline of the U.S. government's own intelligence community.

Hopsicker:

I'll speculate for a moment: having spent a year in Venice on this investigation, it looks to me as if one of two things was going on here - and frankly, I have no idea which is correct. Either the CIA was running a covert operation and training hundreds of Arab pilots in an effort to place human assets in bin Laden's organization or somebody was trading oil and heroin for guns and training on the southwest coast of Florida from 1999 to 2001.

I believe that the resignation of both Henry Kissinger and George Mitchell, the co-chairman of the 9-11 probe, points to something critical. I think that once the Iraqi war is over, there will be renewed attention to what happened on 9-11: who did it and why? I think Kissinger and Mitchell quit because they are looking at something that is 10 times bigger than Watergate.

In the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks back in 2008, the then UPA Government had famously released a Dossier with a recounting of all the facts unearthed during the investigation in the days following the attacks. The Dossier split over three parts ran into almost 300 pages. It had a full accounting of the tapped conversations between the Terrorists holed up inside the Taj, Oberoi and Nariman House and their handlers. It also had a recounting of the sequence of events leading up to the attacks based on all evidence collected. The dossier was also noteworthy in its silence of any local support to the Terrorists.

This was of course early January of 2009. By October of 2009 however the picture had dramatically changed.

Our understanding of what led to the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks transformed dramatically with the arrest in Chicago by the FBI of a David Headley a Pakistan origin American agent of the Lashkar-ISI. The FBI’s extensive wiretaps of David Headley’s several conversations with his handlers in Pakistan and his subsequent confessions filled a critical gap in our understanding of the 26/11 attacks – the local prep in India that went into the planning and execution of the attacks.



What was stunning and shameful in the Indian context is that not only were we ignorant of David Headley’s existence, his reconnaissance in India over several years starting 2006 but the damning fact that he dared to visit India again in 2009 even after the Mumbai attacks.

David Headley’s local ops in India under the very nose of our agencies going undetected underlined a critical gap in our surveillance capabilities when in fact the Terrorists had taken to the Internet in a big way.

A federal jury in Milwaukee could decide Monday whether an Iranian national had his civil rights violated, when he was arrested for having knowledge of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.



FBI agents cleared him six days after the 2001 terrorist attacks -- but he was later arrested in Milwaukee and jailed for 88 days.

During his current trial, Khorrami testified that he was beaten by an FBI polygraph examiner after he refused to confess involvement in the September 11th attacks in which planes destroyed the World Trade Center, damaged the Pentagon, and crashed in a Pennsylvania field.


Khorrami came to the U.S. when he was 17, with an interest in flying. He studied aviation, and was later hired into a training program for Milwaukee's former Skyway Airlines.

When it comes to al Qaeda-trained soldier Zacarias Moussaoui, the only person the United States has convicted for the September 11th terrorist attacks, a reality check is tricky.

From his offbeat and offensive behavior in court to his lengthy rants in handwritten motions he filed while representing himself for a time, Moussaoui has displayed a consistent volatility. He was, to quote remarks at sentencing by his trial judge, Leonie Brinkema, “an absolutely impossible defendant.”
Then there was his bizarre trial testimony, when Moussaoui asserted al Qaeda had tapped him to fly a fifth plane on 9/11 into the White House. One of his defense attorneys, Edward MacMahon, told jurors that testimony was “a tall tale, a whopper.”
Now comes word that Moussaoui, who is serving life without the possibility of parole in the nation’s super-maximum security prison in Florence, Colorado, is dangling information to help authorities complete their understanding of 9/11 financing. For starters, he says, a Saudi prince paid for his training to crash an airplane into a building.
“The guy just wants out of his cell. I can’t blame him for that,” says someone familiar with conditions of confinement in Florence, where inmates can be relegated to their isolated cells 23 hours a day. “The super-max makes them lose their mind.”

In a preview of the bedlam that could become a daily event at the terrorism trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, his fans outside waved provocative signs as a Boston Marathon amputee confronted them yesterday, while a supporter inside the courtroom shouted out in Russian, “Be strong, son.”

And that was just for one brief pretrial hearing.

Seeing signs questioning the evidence against Tsarnaev, bombing survivor Marc Fucarile raised his prosthetic leg, saying: “That’s proof right there.”

“You should care that they get the right guy,” a demonstrator replied.

“Get a life, lady. Go to work,” Fucarile shot back, walking in on his cane.

Inside, Elena Teyer, 45, of Savannah, Ga., the mother-in-law of Ibragim Todashev — shot to death by the FBI during an interrogation last year — screamed in Russian, “We’re here for you, Dzhokhar. We know you’re innocent. Be strong, son.”

As she was led out, she yelled at federal officers, “Stop killing innocent boys!”

Tsarnaev, awaiting trial for murdering four people and maiming 260, did not visibly react to the outburst.

Seen publicly for the first time in 17 months, a glowering Tsarnaev, 21, had swaggered into U.S. District Court Judge George A. O’Toole’s courtroom, ignoring the onlookers and media. He responded “Yes, sir,” when O’Toole asked if it was his choice to skip prior hearings, and, “Very much,” when asked if he was happy with his lawyers. Attorney David Bruck told O’Toole, without elaborating, “issues” had arisen in the past 48 hours that will prompt a motion seeking an eleventh-hour continuance of the trial.

Tsarnaev — featured on Rolling Stone’s August 2013 cover as a tormented heartthrob — has emerged in popular culture both as a heartless monster, ungrateful for what this country gave him, and for some as a fall guy or an alienated youth, never fully welcomed and led astray by his older brother.

Expect all of that to be on display as his trial gets underway Jan. 5.

BOSTON BOMBING: No Proof Tying Tsarnaevs to Triple Murder, Feds Admit

The Boston Marathon bombing is much more important than has been acknowledged, principally because it is the defining domestic national security event since 9/11—and has played a major role in expanding the power of the security state. For that reason, WhoWhatWhy is continuing to investigate troubling aspects of this story and the establishment media treatment of it. We will be exploring new elements of the story regularly as the January trial of accused co-conspirator Dzhokhar Tsarnaev approaches.

For nearly any crime requiring a “Whodunnit” answer in Boston around the time of the April 15, 2013, Marathon bombing, the authorities answered: The Tsarnaev brothers.

One egregious crime pinned on them was a grisly Sept. 11, 2011, triple murder in Waltham, Mass.

Now, prosecutors in the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have delivered a shocking reversal. They admit to having no evidence that his dead brother, Tamerlan, was involved in the slayings.

That wasn’t the case right after the bombing: law enforcement fingered Tamerlan as the perpetrator, and suggested Dzokhar may have been involved. Much of the media has presented it as fact ever since.

This is a pattern we’ve seen since the bombing: The government feeds prejudicial information (usually anonymously) to the press, implying Tamerlan and Dzhokhar’s guilt, despite having flimsy or no evidence. In the most extreme example, prosecutors had to completely recant their accusation that the brothers robbed a 7-Eleven.

The Waltham triple murder case got the same treatment. Within weeks of the bombing on Boylston Street, law enforcement officials confidently proclaimed they had a “growing” amount of “forensic evidence,” along with a written confession from a now-dead friend of Tamerlan’s, that implicated Tamerlan in the Waltham slaying.

But now, the government admits that, other than the confession, it “has no evidence that Tamerlan Tsarnaev actually participated in the Waltham murders.” And it turns out that the damning confession has some serious holes in it too.

So, what happened? First, a little history.

Cold Case: The Waltham Murders

On Sept. 12, 2011, the bodies of Brendan Mess, 25; Erik Weissman, 31; and Raphael Teken, 37; were discovered in Mess’s Waltham apartment, their throats slashed, with pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash scattered over them.

Investigators immediately assumed that these murders in a small suburban community outside Boston likely involved some type of illicit drug dispute. But the trail to the perpetrators of the triple homicide soon went cold—until the Marathon bombing.

While the public was still riveted by wall-to-wall news coverage of the bombing, law enforcement began to speculate about the Tsarnaevs’ involvement in the slayings. Tamerlan had been friends and an occasional martial arts and boxing sparring partner with one of the three victims, officials told the media.

But the government’s own story called into question the behavior of law enforcement officials in the same case. Despite the fact that Tamerlan’s link to the murder victims was known then, it appears he was never questioned about the crime. This is just one of the many inexplicable mysteries surrounding Tamerlan’s pre-bombing relationship with authorities.

Pointing the Finger

The Boston bombing somehow changed everything.

Eight days after the attack, the Boston Globe first reported the possible link, and sourced it to an unnamed relative of one of the victims. The families of the victims asked that the investigation be reopened in light of the bombing.

An ABC news report three weeks later upped the ante: Law enforcement had “forensic evidence” tying the brothers to the slayings, the network said, quoting unidentified Massachusetts investigators.

But how solid was this evidence linking the Tsarnaevs to Waltham? All but nonexistent. We know that because Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s defense team in the bombing trial asked prosecutors to share the proof they had of Tamerlan’s involvement in the Waltham murders.

Why does Tamerlan’s participation in a murder have anything to do with his younger brother’s trial for a wholly separate crime, the Marathon Bombing? The defense is trying to gather proof that Tamerlan dominated his younger brother, which would help Dzokhar’s arguments against the death penalty. Presiding Judge George O’Toole ultimately denied the defense request.

Nonetheless, the answer the prosecution gave in court filings demonstrated one thing: that what was leaked to multiple news outlets as evidence was nothing more than innuendo.

In terms of incrimination, all that’s left is the confession by the dead friend of Tamerlan’s, Ibragim Todashev. Which also appears, on close scrutiny, to raise more questions than it answers.

In fact, Boston Magazine uncovered an important inconsistency in Todashev’s description of the crime scene that calls its legitimacy into question. Due to an improper redaction which made the confession public, the magazine was able to compare Todashev’s written description of the victims with what the first eyewitness encountered at the crime scene.

Taped or Not Taped

When referring to the three victims, Todashev wrote in broken English that “we taped their hands up.” (Please see a photo of the handwritten confession here).

But the first eyewitness to the gruesome scene, Hiba Eltilib, girlfriend of Brendan Mess, said otherwise: “None of their hands were tied as I recall,” she said in an interview.

So here we have another example of the authorities’ early assertions about the Tsarnaevs looking suspiciously shaky under close scrutiny. The Tsarnaevs’ imputed connection to the Waltham murders rests on nothing but a questionable confession by a friend — a man who was later shot down by an FBI investigator while being interrogated. And dead men tell no tales.

Meanwhile, as so often happens in these high-profile cases, the initial allegations are still widely circulating in media accounts, while the later, potentially exculpatory information barely registers in the mind of the public.

Certainly there’s a lot of pressure on public officials to solve particularly horrific crimes like the Waltham murders. But a year-and-a-half after the government’s confident claims of Tamerlan’s guilt, we’re finding out that what they really have is next to nothing.

Can this rush to judgment be blamed on expediency, wishful thinking, or something else?
