"Intestinal parasites can be one of the less pleasant realities of pet ownership
Intestinal parasites invade your dog’s or cat’s gastrointestinal tract, often causing digestive issues like diarrhea
Common GI trespassers include microscopic organisms such as giardia, and a variety of parasitic worms
Because there is not one “universal” dewormer for all GI parasites, automatically deworming your pet on an annual basis is a poor choice"

Protest Thugs and the Real Evil in Charlotte:
'Keith Lamont Scott was scum.
He had been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in two different states and convicted of assault in three states. He had been hit with "assault with intent to kill" charges in the 90s. His record of virtue included "assault on a child under 12" and "assault on a female."
The media spin; "Family and neighbors call Scott a quiet 'family man.'"
Nothing says "quiet" like "assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill" and nothing says "family man" like assaulting women and children.
Keith Lamont Scott, the latest martyr of Black Lives Matter and its media propaganda corps, was shot while waving a gun around. He had spent 7 years in jail for "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon."

This vicious monster's career of crime ended when he was shot by Brentley Vinson, an African-American police officer, protecting himself from the latest rampage by this "quiet family man."
Brentley Vinson is everything that Scott isn't. The son of a police officer, Brentley dreamed of following in his father's footsteps. He used to organize his football team's bible studies and mentored younger players. Former teammates describe him as a "great guy" with "good morals." His former coach calls him a "natural leader" and says that, "We need more Brent Vinsons... in our communities."

"Only social Marxists could mistake child murder for a way to save the world, and it’s no surprise that the ancient, man-hating, family destroying, communist- Gloria Steinem would blame babies for the destruction of our planet.

In her defense, we may be generous enough to assume that she is honestly convinced by the claim that 97 percent of climate scientists truly believe in the power grab scam known as Global Warming. We can safely assume, for the purposes of argument, she believes that a claim from authority is not grossly illogical.

We may reasonably take the approach that Steinem does not remember the Global Cooling scare of the 1970s and the fact that satellite data contradicts the tenets of Global Warming.

According to Steinem, “Forced childbirth is the greatest causal factor behind global warming.” She said this at a gala celebrating the Memphis Region’s branch of Planned Parenthood’s Greater 75th Anniversary.

The prominent militant feminist and pro-abortion activist delivered the keynote address at the Planned Parenthood event. She took advantage of the platform to celebrate our nation’s largest and most active provider of abortions.

Her 20-minute long speech began by promoting what liberals commonly refer to as a woman’s ‘reproductive rights.’ As usual, there was no mention of men’s reproductive rights, or the right of a child to live. But hey- she’s got to make a living, right?

“Nothing,” Steinem said, “is more important than assuring the fundamental right of a woman to her reproductive freedom- to the principle that official power stops at the level of our skin.”

It’s interesting that she says; ‘our skin.’ If she meant human beings, she would say ‘the skin,’ but she doesn’t. She’s only talking about female humans, and if you look at the kind of crowds that tend to follow her, you could rightly say she means only white female humans who do not fall below a certain economic and social strata.

Steinem then went on to draw a connection between global warming and what she calls “forced childbirth.” This remark reflects her previous statements made last year with respect to Pope Francis and Climate Change.

In an interview with the fashion magazine, Cosmopolitan, Steinem claimed that global warming is being caused in large part by the Catholic teachings on the sacredness of human life.

She said, “…the human burden on the Earth is the greatest cause of global warming because forcing women to give birth to children they would not choose to have on their own…” …and so on. It would seem that in Steinem’s mind, having unprotected sex is not a choice- but an irrepressible compulsion, from the consequences of which women should be protected.

Steinem’s claims purport to link Global Warming to the words and deeds of Pope Francis himself: “I’m pleased that the Pope spoke about Global Warming. That was helpful, but- I wonder- does he know that he’s helping to cause it?”

Steinem’s unspoken premise is that carbon emissions are causing the globe to grow warmer. What she may not realize is that carbon makes up less than 5 percent of the total greenhouse gasses- many of which are much more effective at retaining heat from sunlight than carbon- and that carbon is the only greenhouse gas that humans create in significant amounts.

What she also does not seem to realize is that C02 is a plant food and is used by farmers to accelerate crop production.

So, if Steinem is right, that more babies mean more C02, then babies should actually be good for the environment- as the C02 production they create would lead to the accelerated greening of our world.

Her cry, of course, is for more abortions, and it fits right in with Planned Parenthood’s goal for the evening. They announced before Steinem’s talk that Planned Parenthood intends to use the money raised from that event to build a new facility in the area- a facility entirely dedicated to performing abortions.

Gloria Steinem is exalted within liberal circles as a transformational feminist champion. She perpetually promotes the access of women to abortion services regardless of the ways that abortion strips the rights of future women away from them- and the fact that many women regret having had abortions.

This enforced arbitrary confabulation of women’s rights with the freedom to slaughter unborn babies is one of the reasons that so many feminists currently identify themselves as pro-life.

The followers of people like Gloria Steinem do not realize that all human flourishing stems from right acting, and that right acting comes only from an abiding sense of moral rectitude and personal responsibility. If the world needs anything now, it’s that."

"SCIENTISTS say the first baby has been born from a controversial new technique that combines DNA from three people — the mother, the father and an egg donor.
The goal was to prevent the child from inheriting a fatal genetic disease from his mother, who had previously lost two children to the illness.
The birth of the boy is revealed in a research summary published by the journal Fertility & Sterility.
Scientists are scheduled to present details at a meeting next month in Salt Lake City.
The magazine New Scientist, which first reported the birth, said the baby was born five months ago to Jordanian parents, and that they were treated in Mexico by a team led by Dr. John Zhang of the New Hope Fertility Center in New York. It’s not clear where the child was born.

The technique is not approved in the United States, but Zhang told the magazine, “To save lives is the ethical thing to do.”
A spokesman for the fertility centre said Zhang was not available for further comment. Others involved in the research referred questions to Zhang.
The mother carries DNA that could have given her child Leigh syndrome, a severe neurological disorder that usually kills within a few years of birth.
Her two previous children died of the disease at eight months and six years, the research summary said.

The technique involved removing some of the mother’s DNA from an egg, and leaving the disease-causing DNA behind.
The healthy DNA was slipped into a donor’s egg, which was then fertilised.
As a result, the baby inherited DNA from both parents and the egg donor.
The technique is sometimes said to produce “three-parent babies,” but the DNA contribution from the egg donor is very small.

The controversial technique, known as mitochondrial donation, is a form of IVF that allows parents affected by rare genetic diseases to have healthy babies. Picture: Drew Berry.Source:Supplied
People carry DNA in two places, the nucleus of the cell and in features called mitochondria, which lie outside the nucleus.
The technique is designed to transfer only DNA of the nucleus to the donor egg, separating it from the mother’s disease-causing mitochondrial DNA.
The research summary identified the mother as a 36-year-old woman and said her pregnancy was uneventful. One of the five eggs the researchers treated was suitable for use.
Critics question the technique’s safety, saying children would have to be tracked for decades to make sure they remain healthy.
And they say it passes a fundamental scientific boundary by altering the DNA inherited by future generations. Mitochondrial DNA is passed from women to their offspring.
Still, last year, Britain became the first country in the world to allow creation of human embryos with the technique.
In the US, a panel of government advisers said earlier this year that it’s ethical to test the approach in people if initial experiments follow certain strict safety steps.
That report was requested by the Food and Drug Administration, which is currently prevented by Congress from considering applications to approve testing the technique in people.

Dr Zhang’s team created five embryos using this technique, one of which survived and was implanted into the boy’s mother.Source:YouTube
Shroukhrat Mitalipov, who has worked with the approach at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, said that given the panel’s conclusion, “We believe it’s time to move forward with FDA-approved clinical trials in the United States.”
Hank Greely, an ethics specialist at Harvard University, said on Tuesday he sees nothing wrong with using the technique if it is safe.
But he called the research leading to the newly reported birth “unethical, unwise, immoral.”
He said the approach “hasn’t been sufficiently proven safe enough to try to use to make a baby.” Dieter Egli of the New York Stem Cell Foundation, who has done work in the area, was cautious about the implications of the new report.
“I wouldn’t go out there at this point and tout the accomplishment because we don’t have enough information,” he said.
“We do not know exactly what was done.”
“We have to wait” for a fuller report, he said.
The child is not the first to inherit DNA from three people. In the 1990s, some children were born after researchers used a different technique. But federal regulators intervened, and the field’s interest now has passed to the new approach."

"An expert involved in the approval process for the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix, is speaking out about the dangers and why you shouldn't risk your child's health in getting them.

Diane Harper, M.D., professor and chair of the department of Family and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Louisville, revealed at the 4th International Conference on Vaccination that HPV vaccines are essentially worthless, because rates of cervical cancer in the U.S. are extremely low anyway.
Her speech was intended to promote the benefits of vaccines, but she changed her mind and went in a different direction in an effort to "clean her conscience about the deadly vaccines," according to The Daily Sheeple.
Dr. Harper, a former vaccine research scientist for Merck, said she wouldn't be able to sleep at night unless she aired the truth about HPV vaccines. In her speech, given in Reston, Virginia, she said that 70 percent of all HPV infections resolve themselves without treatment, and 90 percent do so within two years.

Over 40 young girls reported to have died from HPV vaccines
All safety trials for HPV vaccines were done on 15-year-olds, said Dr. Harper, and not 9-year-olds, the demographic for which the immunizations are now recommended. Furthermore, there is a real risk associated with these vaccines, she added.
More than 15,000 girls have experienced adverse side effects from Gardasil, according to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). A number likely to be far higher in reality, since many vaccine side effects go unreported.
At least 44 girls are known to have died from these vaccines. Some side effects experienced by those receiving the HPV vaccines include seizures, blood clots, brain inflammation, lupus and Guillain Barre Syndrome, a rare but serious autoimmune deficiency that causes the immune system to attack and damage nerve cells.
While the majority of those with GBS recover, the disorder may cause muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, paralysis and sometimes death.
As with most vaccines, parents are usually not made aware of the risks.

HPV vaccines work on only four of the 40 strains of the venereal disease
"About eight in every ten women who have been sexually active will have HPV at some stage of their life," said Dr. Harper during her speech.
"Normally there are no symptoms, and in 98 per cent of cases it clears itself. But in those cases where it doesn't, and isn't treated, it can lead to pre-cancerous cells which may develop into cervical cancer."

Dr. Harper said that while Gardasil and Cervarix are marketed as protecting against cervical cancer, the claim has not been proven and is hypothetical. Research conducted on the drugs show "there is no demonstrated relationship between the condition being vaccinated for and the rare cancers that the vaccine might prevent, but it is marketed to do that nonetheless," she said.
"In fact, there is no actual evidence that the vaccine can prevent any cancer. From the manufacturers own admissions, the vaccine only works on 4 strains out of 40 for a specific venereal disease that dies on its own in a relatively short period, so the chance of it actually helping an individual is about the same as the chance of her being struck by a meteorite."
Her comments though brave, placed Dr. Harper's reputation at risk. Big Pharma's attack dogs quickly sought to destroy her, attempting to dismantle her credibility as a professional research scientist.
Since coming forward with her concerns about the HPV vaccines, a relentless and vicious campaign has been waged against her. The former Merck scientist was made to look like a kook in an article published by The Sunday Express, a British tabloid, which heavily misquoted her.
Hoping to set the record straight, Dr. Harper clarified her position in an interview with CBS News, during which she said that HPV vaccines carry real risks while offering very little benefits.
"The benefit to public health is nothing, there is no reduction in cervical cancers, they are just postponed, unless the protection lasts for at least 15 years, and over 70% of all sexually active females of all ages are vaccinated."
She also added that reported side effects of the vaccine prove HPV vaccines are more dangerous than the cervical cancer its makers say it prevents."

"According to the Food and Drug Administration, the amount of aluminum in modern vaccines that infants are exposed to in their first year is about 4.225 mg, which the agency considers to be low, and thus safe. But some experts believe that there are vaccines being given to children today that contain far more than the FDA-regulated amount of 0.85-1.25 mg per vaccine.
As reported by Natural Health 365, there are some vaccines that, when taken in full, actually introduce 200 times more aluminum into children than is allowed under federal rules. The site reported that researchers at the University of British Columbia noted that aluminum ingestion is a clear cause of neurological problems and disorders in humans of any age.
In 2013, the scientists published a study in the journal Immunologic Research which confirmed that aluminum toxicity has a negative impact on the body's nervous system "across the age span." In adults, over-exposure to aluminum in the system can lead to age-related neurological conditions that resemble Alzheimer's disease. Similar outcomes were observed in laboratory animals, the researchers noted.
Has the government known all along?
Furthermore, Natural Health 365 reported, scientists found that in small children there is a great correlation between the number of aluminum-containing vaccines administered and the increased rate of diagnosed autism disorders. Indeed, several of the signs of aluminum neurotoxicity happen because of autoimmune reactions and inflammation.
There is even evidence that the federal government has known for some time that aluminum administered via vaccines causes health issues. According to this FDA notice dating back to January 2000, the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services announced the "proposed collection of information ... for the labeling requirements for aluminum content in large volume parenterals (LVPs), small volume parenterals (SVPs), and pharmacy bulk packages (PBPs) used in total parenteral nutrition (TPN)." In short, the agencies were seeking information related to aluminum content labeling requirements that were published in the Federal Register on January 26, 2000, because "research indicates that neonates and patient populations with impaired kidney function" could be "at high risk of exposure to unsafe amounts of aluminum."
The document further explained that aluminum "may accumulate" in the bones, urine and plasma of babies receiving TPN. It also stated clearly that a number of "drug products" that are "routinely" used in vaccine therapy "may contain levels of aluminum sufficiently high to cause clinical manifestations."
The agencies acknowledged that, generally speaking, when medications are administered orally the gastrointestinal tract serves as an effective barrier to the absorption of aluminum, with very small amounts of it actually being ingested and entering the body's tissues.
Study finds even neonatal products with lowest amount of aluminum surpass FDA limits
But, "parenterally administered drug products" that contain aluminum naturally bypass the gastrointestinal tract and its protective mechanisms, causing aluminum to circulate within the bloodstream and thus collect in body tissues, the notification stated.
"Although aluminum toxicity is not commonly detected clinically, it can be serious in selected patient populations, such as neonates, and may be more common than is recognized," the agency noted.
Mary Tocco of ChildhoodShots.com, natural care expert and patient coordinator at Real Health Advanced Care, an integrative wellness clinic in Goose Creek, S.C., told Jonathan Landsman, host of Natural News Talk Hour in a June 2014 interview that vaccines are causing damage on the cellular level.
She said that one study involving neonatal babies who were tracked for 18 months found that even when they were given IV nutrition with the least amount of aluminum, it still was not possible to stay under the FDA-recommended limit of 4–5 µg/kg/day. "Neonates still received 1.8 to 3.2 times the upper limit of allowable aluminum exposure from PN if they received the least contaminated products," the researchers concluded."

"A YOUNG mum died after a scratch on her hand that she received while gardening turned septic.
Mum-of-two Lucy Smith, from Billericay, Essex, began to feel ill just days after she scratched herself.
She went to the doctors complaining of a pain in the shoulder. The GP diagnosed a trapped nerve and prescribed antidepressants.
Within a few days the 44-year-old solicitor’s fingers and arms had begun to swell and she was in severe pain.
She was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with sepsis and died a few days later.
Don’t underestimate this prolific killer. and the dangers of the life-threatening condition also referred to as blood poisoning or septicaemia,
which is triggered by an infection or injury.
Every year in the UK there are 150,000 cases of Sepsis, resulting in a staggering 44,000 deaths — more than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined.
Look out for symptoms of the “silent killer.
People don’t realise that there are many causes of sepsis.
For example, from an infection, usually associated with an illness, like diabetes or cancer, or an injury like, in Lucy’s case, a cut or a scrape.
It can, however, also be caused by an infection following a routine surgery or procedure.”

"The most powerful conference uncovering the radical LGBT agenda will be held on Oct. 28 and 29 in Houston. Stand4Truth, now in its second year, has become the epicenter of truth on this critical issue. It includes top experts from across America (including MassResistance). Last year’s initial conference was a blockbuster. But this year’s will even better!
America in 2016 is flooded with lies, misinformation, and unending propaganda on this issue. Sadly, most in the pro-family movement are reluctant – even afraid – to counter it. As a result, pro-family people are left confused and misled. This is your chance to learn the truth.
And this conference is boldly defying the threats, fear, and intimidation from the LGBT movement and its allies against anyone who contradicts them.
If at all possible you should consider coming to Houston and attending either one day or both days. But space is limited. NOTE: Licensed counselors and therapists in Texas can get Continuing Education credits for attending this conference!"

"One of the key principles of the Christian faith is that all human lives are valuable because they are created in the image of God, and therefore killing an innocent human being is a grave evil.
However, a few Christians stray from these teachings and argue that women should have a “right” to abort their unborn child’s life. Neichelle Guidry Jones, a United Church of Christ pastor from Chicago, is one of them. Last week, she praised and prayed for Planned Parenthood as it celebrated its 100th anniversary, Charisma News reports.
“We celebrate today that on Oct. 16, 1916, Margaret Sanger opened the doors of the first Planned Parenthood clinic right here in New York City,” Guidry Jones said. “And with this act of courage and resistance, the doors were opened for women to overcome the silence and the shame and the stigma inflicted on our sexuality.”
She prayed, “The doors were opened for women to rise up against the political, religious and patriarchal machines that sought to undermine our right to choose and decide what happens to our own perfect, beautiful and holy flesh.”
An abortion is not just a decision involving a woman’s “flesh,” though. An abortion destroys an unborn baby’s body and life, and Planned Parenthood has aborted at least 6,803,782 unborn babies in the past 100 years, according to its own annual reports.
Several women also have died after having abortions at Planned Parenthood facilities. Two years ago, the abortion group paid a $2 million settlement to the family of an Illinois women who died from a botched abortion at one of its facilities. The Planned Parenthood facility reportedly waited five hours before sending the woman to the hospital and never called 911.
Pro-life leaders also are looking into another abortion-related death in Michigan involving a young woman named Cree Erwin. Erwin died just three days after she had an abortion at the Planned Parenthood facility in Kalamazoo on June 30, 2016, according to records obtained by Operation Rescue.
More recently, the abortion giant also has faced public scrutiny for possibly illegally profiting off the sales of aborted baby body parts. In connection to the scandal, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office filed a lawsuit against two California companies that allegedly sold aborted baby parts from Planned Parenthood earlier in October.
None of these things were mentioned in Guidry Jones’ prayer. Instead, the pastor asked God to give Planned Parenthood and its supporters the power to continue for another 100 years.
“We can’t do this alone,” she prayed. “We might be many, but with You we have been mighty. So come into our gathering with Your presence and Your insight and Your peace and Your power. Come with Your unity that we might be ready when You call. Call on us to stand, call us on us to press and fight, to speak to move and to march on into the next 100 years of Planned Parenthood.”
Abortion advocates describe Planned Parenthood as a caring, trusted women’s health care provider, but its records and the accounts of former employees point to money as its true goal.
In 2014-2015, the abortion “non-profit” brought in $1.3 billion in revenues while killing 324,000 unborn babies in abortions, according to research by the National Right to Life Committee. And its CEO’s salary is nearly $1 million, double what it was five years ago.
Planned Parenthood does not help women or their babies, and its deadly work is nothing to celebrate. It destroys hundreds of thousands of unborn babies’ lives every year and reaps in millions of dollars doing it."

It is good practise to take regular breaks from the computer and relieve your eyes by using them in a natural manner.

To reduce your risk of tiring your eyes experts recommend that you look away from your screen at least every 20 minutes and gaze at a distant object (at least 20 feet away) for at least 20 seconds. Some eye specialists call this the “20-20-20 rule.” Looking into the distance relaxes the focusing muscle inside the eye and helps reduce fatigue.

"A WOMAN has been awarded more than $US70 million ($A92 million) after alleging that years of using Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder caused her cancer.
It’s the latest case raising concerns about the health ramifications of extended talcum powder use.
The jury ruling today ended the trial that began September 26 in the case brought by Deborah Giannecchini of Modesto, California.
She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012.

The suit accused Johnson & Johnson of “negligent conduct” in making and marketing its baby powder.

“We are pleased the jury did the right thing,” said Jim Onder, a lawyer for Giannecchini. “They once again reaffirmed the need for Johnson & Johnson to warn the public of the ovarian cancer risk associated with its product.”

Earlier this year, two other lawsuits in St Louis ended in jury verdicts worth a combined $US127 million ($A167 million), but two others in New Jersey were thrown out by a judge who said there wasn’t reliable evidence that talc leads to ovarian cancer.
About 2,000 women have filed similar suits, and lawyers are reviewing thousands of other potential cases, most generated by ads touting the two big verdicts out of St. Louis — a $72 million award in February to relatives of an Alabama woman who died of ovarian cancer, and a $55 million award in May to a South Dakota survivor of the disease.

The softest of minerals, it’s crushed into a white powder. It’s been widely used in cosmetics and other personal care products to absorb moisture since at least 1894, when Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder was launched. But it’s mainly used in a variety of other products, including paint and plastics.
Johnson & Johnson has been targeted before by health and consumer groups over ingredients in its products, including Johnson’s No More Tears baby shampoo. The company agreed in 2012 to eliminate 1,4-dioxans and formaldehyde, both considered probable carcinogens, from all products by 2015."

"While often perceived as a healthy choice, or lighter alternative to bread, a new review commissioned by Helga’s and conducted by the University of Newcastle has found the top selling wraps not only contain alarmingly high amounts of salt but a number also contain artificial preservatives.
The review examined the top selling wraps in supermarkets over a 12-month period. The main finding was that the amount of salt found in wraps varied significantly between brands with some wraps containing six times as much salt as others.
Of concern was that popular varieties of wraps could contain more than double the amount of salt than is recommended.
It appears that while consumers are aware of the need to consume high fibre and wholegrain varieties, unfortunately when we choose our wraps, we are not considering the addition of excessive amounts of salt.
As wraps are a food that some of us will eat regularly, we do need to pay attention to how much extra salt is slipping into our diets.
Australians consume far too much salt on a daily basis. In recent years, the National Nutrition Survey found that the average Aussie adult is consuming around 6g of salt per day or 2400mg of sodium, when ideally no more than 1600mg of sodium as an upper limit should be consumed each day.
Some wraps contain more than a third of this amount in a single serve, and that is minus fillings such as processed meat, cheese and sauces which can add significantly more sodium into our diets in just one meal.
High sodium diets are linked to an increased risk of high blood pressure and heart disease long term and fluid retention and bloating on a daily basis.
For this reason, aiming for foods that have no more than 400mg of sodium per 100g is a good reference point, and specifically making sure that the wraps you buy for your family on a regular basis are not packing much extra salt into the diet.
Simply swapping from a high salt to a lower salt wrap can save up to 90 teaspoons of salt from your diet over a 12-month period.
And it also appears we need to be more careful when it comes to the additives found in the wraps we are purchasing.
The University of Newcastle found that 17 of the 22 wraps examined in this report contain artificial preservatives including 200 (potassium sorbate), 282 (calcium propionate) and 281 (sodium propionate).

"Internet of Things means Chinese electronics are threat to National Security
By Kelly -Oct 25, 201621383
Internet outage caused by cheap, unsecured Chinese crap that was weaponised
On Friday, Oct. 21, a massive attack against Dyn, which handles domain name system resolution for large websites like Twitter, SoundCloud, Spotify, Reddit and others, severely disrupted Internet traffic while the company got a handle on the problem.
According to a company statement from Dyn, “At this point we know this was a sophisticated, highly distributed attack involving 10s of millions of IP addresses… across multiple attack vectors and Internet locations. We can confirm, with the help of analysis from Flashpoint and Akamai, that one source of the traffic for the attacks were devices infected by the Mirai botnet. We observed 10s of millions of discrete IP addresses associated with the Mirai botnet that were part of the attack.” The outage lasted a few hours.
Many of devices in question have been traced back to a single company in China, XiongMai, according to Krebsonsecurity.com, “According to researchers at security firm Flashpoint, today’s attack was launched at least in part by a Mirai-based botnet.
Allison Nixon, director of research at Flashpoint, said the botnet used in today’s ongoing attack is built on the backs of hacked IoT [Internet of Things] devices — mainly compromised digital video recorders (DVRs) and IP cameras made by a Chinese hi-tech company called XiongMai Technologies. The components that XiongMai makes are sold downstream to vendors who then use it in their own products.”
In other words, China has apparently been selling us cheap, unsecured “Internet of things” components that are installed in other products — devices that communicate with the Internet like closed-circuit TV digital cameras, DVRs, smart kettles and what not — that are now being weaponised into a massive distributed denial of service attacks by utilising millions of connected devices into a coordinated assault
By legend, Lenin supposedly joked we’d sell the communists the rope they’d hang us with. But maybe it wasn’t a joke.
If these devices can be hacked to turn them into weapons, they can also be hacked into and compromised on their core functions. See, “Hackers remotely kill Jeep on the highway — with me in it,” July 21, 2015 Wired.com piece by Brian Greenberg for a taste of the terror that could be unleashed in our new interconnected world. In that example exploits against components in automobiles can be used to compromise a vehicle’s steering, brakes, acceleration and other critical functions that, nowadays, are entirely digital. Can you say recall?
But it’s not just cars. The range of “smart” devices include infrastructure like train tracks, bridges medical devices and more. How much of our critical infrastructure was made with cheap, unsecured Chinese crap?
Maybe connecting everything to the Internet is not so smart.
But it gets worse. Last month, Internet security expert Bruce Schneier warned the Internet’s infrastructure itself is being probed for weaknesses: “Recently, some of the major companies that provide the basic infrastructure that makes the Internet work have seen an increase in DDoS attacks against them. Moreover, they have seen a certain profile of attacks. These attacks are significantly larger than the ones they’re used to seeing. They last longer. They’re more sophisticated. And they look like probing. One week, the attack would start at a particular level of attack and slowly ramp up before stopping. The next week, it would start at that higher point and continue. And so on, along those lines, as if the attacker were looking for the exact point of failure. The attacks are also configured in such a way as to see what the company’s total defences are.”
Schneier adds, ominously, that “One company told me about a variety of probing attacks in addition to the DDoS attacks: testing the ability to manipulate Internet addresses and routes, seeing how long it takes the defenders to respond, and so on. Someone is extensively testing the core defensive capabilities of the companies that provide critical Internet services.”
Raising the question, if the Internet is being probed for weaknesses, does that imply a state actor is involved in the probing? What are they preparing for?
Perhaps we should be questioning where these devices are manufactured. What if a state military came to be involved in the manufacture of these devices? Ever since the manufacture of IBM personal computers was taken over by Lenovo, a China-based company, a decade ago, it has long been under suspicion of manufacturing hardware Trojans, installing hard-to-find malicious circuits and the like.
In 2014, new Lenovos were coming pre-installed with sophisticated spyware until it was exposed. Begging the question, what else is on these machines?
These concerns are apparently shared by the Pentagon, the Washington Free Beacon’s Bill Gertz reports, and is now warning against plugging any Lenovos into secure networks: “The Pentagon’s Joint Staff recently warned against using equipment made by China’s Lenovo computer manufacturer amid concerns about cyber spying against Pentagon networks, according to defence officials. A recent internal report produced by the J-2 intelligence directorate stated that cyber security officials are concerned that Lenovo computers and handheld devices could introduce compromised hardware into the Defence Department supply chain, posing cyber espionage risks, said officials familiar with the report.”
Disturbingly, the report also details evidence that Lenovo computers are already engaged in cyber warfare: “One official said Lenovo equipment in the past was detected ‘beaconing’ — covertly communicating with remote users in the course of cyber intelligence-gathering.”
“There is no way that that company or any Chinese company should be doing business in the United States after all the recent hacking incidents,” the official said.
But the problem could be bigger than simply devices in Defense networks or even in the U.S. As seen with the Dyn attack, if devices can be remotely commandeered, it might matter less where they are necessarily located. More than 137 million Lenovo computers have been sold commercially the past decade, accounting for about 7 percent of all computers in the world (the total number appears to be about 2 billion at the moment).
As we have been warning, the West is on the frontline in a global cyberwar, mostly orchestrated by Russia, but also by ISIS and Syrian terrorists. And they’re not just using your phones, tablets and computers. We’re looking at the Internet of Things. Nowadays, your fridge or home security camera is just as likely to sabotage us. Using these connected devices, hackers can launch millions of DDOS (Denial of service attacks) and seriously interfere with businesses — as well as threatening our critical infrastructure. ~ Kelly
If millions of low-grade cameras can be leveraged in an attack, why not tens of millions of the best-selling laptop computers in the world connected to the Internet?
Perhaps this is what happens when a great nation outsources critical production infrastructure overseas. Maybe we should be more discerning about what it is we’re importing.
Whether it is insecure components in our DVRs or one-fifth of the current market for personal computers, the military applications are obvious, besides spying. If a state actor were going to take down the Internet, it might be at the same time, or shortly before, say, an attack in order to create confusion on the ground and to cut off communications. Then when the attack happens, access to information could be limited.
It may seem over the top, but if the Internet’s vital infrastructure is currently being probed for weaknesses, then we have to be prepared for the possibility of an attack, too — and the fact that we may have already paid for and installed some of the components that might facilitate it.
If there is a virtual Trojan horse in our midst, as Paris warned, perhaps it would be best to burn it before it’s too late."

"A Canadian university professor ignited controversy by refusing to use gender-neutral pronouns. Is he a villain or a victim?
University of Toronto psychology professor Jordan Peterson had enough of what he saw as a campus culture where "social justice warrior, left-wing radical political activists" ran rampant.
In September he released a video lecture series taking aim at political correctness.
He zeroed in on Canadian human rights legislation that prohibits discrimination based on gender identity or expression.
Dr Peterson was especially frustrated with being asked to use alternate pronouns as requested by trans students or staff, like the singular 'they' or 'ze' and 'zir', used by some as alternatives to 'she' or 'he'.
In his opposition, he set off a political and cultural firestorm that shows no signs of abating.
At a free speech rally mid-October, he was drowned out by a white noise machine. Pushing and shoving broke out in the crowd.
He says the lock on his office door was glued shut.
At the same time, the University of Toronto said it had received complaints of threats against trans people on campus.
His employers have warned that, while they support his right to academic freedom and free speech, he could run afoul of the Ontario Human Rights code and his faculty responsibilities should he refuse to use alternate pronouns when requested.
They also said they have received complaints from students and faculty that his comments are "unacceptable, emotionally disturbing and painful" and have urged him to stop repeating them.
The university is also trying to organise a "civil and respectful" debate, which would include Dr Peterson, to discuss gender provisions in federal and provincial human rights legislation.
Either way, Dr Peterson is not backing down.
Canadian legislators are currently looking at a new law that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity
"I've studied authoritarianism for a very long time - for 40 years - and they're started by people's attempts to control the ideological and linguistic territory," he told the BBC.
"There's no way I'm going to use words made up by people who are doing that - not a chance."
Dr Peterson is concerned proposed federal human rights legislation "will elevate into hate speech" his refusal to use alternative pronouns.
Legal experts disagree.
Bill C-16, currently before Canada's parliament, prohibits discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act on the basis of gender identity and expression. The bill covers the federal government and federally regulated industries like banks or airlines. It also extends hate speech provisions under Canada's criminal code to transgendered people.
"I don't think any legal expert would say using an inappropriate pronoun, while not something that respects the human rights of trans people, would ever result in a criminal conviction," said Kyle Kirkup, a law professor with the University of Ottawa who specialises in gender identity and sexuality law.
But Dr Peterson could face sanction under Ontario's human rights code, which extended protection to trans people in 2012.
Penalties range from fines and damages to mandatory anti-discrimination training.
Dr Peterson says he does not object to trans people or to choosing which traditional pronoun they prefer.
"If the standard transsexual person wants to be regarded as he or she, my sense is I'll address you according to the part that you appear to be playing," he said.
But he argues terms like "gender identity' and "gender expression" are too broad, are the "propositions of radical social constructionists," and are being used to bully opponents into submission.
"There's only two alternatives to that," he said.
"One is silent slavery with all the repression and resentment that that will generate, and the other is outright conflict. Free speech is not just another value. It's the foundation of Western civilization."
Dr Peterson's University of Toronto colleague, Dr Lee Airton, argues he is being alarmist and indulging in "slippery slope fallacies" on the limits of free speech.
"If you actually listen and you parse out the arguments, it becomes very clear that this not about freedom of speech, that this is about reducing transgendered people's needs as excessive and illegitimate."
Dr Airton, who personally asks to be referred to as 'they', recognises people can find alternate pronouns "very jarring", but says if both sides are open to being accommodating, in practice it becomes "no big deal".
"This is not a freedom of speech debate. This is not a scandal," said Dr Airton.
"This is people very publicly working through their own lack of familiarity or understanding of trans people's otherwise fairly ordinary lives.”

"Assange doesn’t identify with any major U.S. political party. He’s not American. He’s an outsider. His goal has always been to expose top-level corruption, regardless of which countries or political parties are involved. And he’s had to pay a price for that.
As a publishing organization, they don’t hire hackers to steal other people’s computer documents and emails. WikiLeaks is a place for whistleblowers. They publish only what they’re given.
In other words, if someone inside the Trump campaign wanted to expose the campaign’s corruption and send a ton of emails to WikiLeaks, they would have published it. The only reason WikiLeaks published Podesta’s emails and the DNC emails was that someone felt the need to blow the whistle anonymously. So far, no one’s felt the need to do the same thing with the RNC or the Trump campaign. That doesn’t mean that Julian Assange must be pro-Trump. It just means that no one’s come forward seeking to out Trump.
It’s important to keep in mind that if our media networks truly were “fair and balanced” and objective and unbiased, there would be no need for a group like WikiLeaks."

"A left-wing charity organization with unknown sources of money is providing the funding for protests around the country — some of which have turned into violent riots — that have threatened a divided nation’s ability to unify after a contentious presidential election.
An ATT truck burns as protests riot in Oakland, California, U.S. following the election of Republican Donald Trump as President of the United States November 9, 2016.
The Progress Unity Fund is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization — the same classification as the Red Cross. The group’s mission is to “provide a progressive alternative to mainstream charities,” according to its IRS filings.
The fund provides the financial backing for Act Now To Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition, a left-wing activist group that began organizing “emergency protests” immediately after Trump’s election.
Cities where ANSWER held protests included: Chicago, New York, DC and San Francisco, among others. Media That Warned Of Trump Riots Now Covers Hillary ‘Protests’.
“In a shock result, Donald Trump has been elected president – but the people can rise up and defeat his bigoted, extreme right wing agenda!” ANSWER said in a post-election statement. “The ANSWER Coalition is mobilizing across the country to organize and take part in emergency actions.”
Progress Unity Fund’s website says the group “creates and funds educational and material aid programs, to challenge the barriers and find solutions to the issues creating division.”
But ANSWER describes Progress Unity Fund as its “fiscal sponsor.” And the group is asking its supporters to financially support the next round of anti-Trump protests — Trump’s January 20 inauguration — by donating to the Progress Unity Fund.
The fund’s 2015 IRS filings list just one payment to ANSWER: $9,700 for “educational programs.”
It’s unclear where Progress Unity Fund gets its money — the fund doesn’t publicly list its donors and didn’t respond to a list of questions submitted by The Daily Caller.
ANSWER will hold at least one more protest in Chicago on Saturday, according to posts on the Chicago chapter’s Facebook page"

"A major corporation that contracted with Planned Parenthood to dispose of baby bodies from the abortion industry giant has given up in its fight against a grassroots organization that launched a campaign to unveil the company’s actions.
The Thomas More Society on Friday announced that a lawsuit brought against the Ohio-based pro-life advocacy group Created Equal and its national director, Mark Harrington, over their speech was being dropped.
The legal team confirmed Stericycle Inc. and its CEO, Charles Alutto, moved to dismiss the complaint it had brought against the citizens group.
The Thomas More Society originally had claimed defamation, false light invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress after the citizens group launched a protest campaign in Lake Forest, Bannockburn and Lincolnshire, Illinois.
The campaign urged Stericycle’s CEO, board members and the public to cease handling the disposal of “medical waste” for Planned Parenthood affiliates around the United States.
Read the tested and proven strategies to defeat the abortion cartel, in “Abortion Free: Your Manual for Building a Pro-Life America One Community at a Time.”
Two months ago, Judge Margarete A. Marcouiller of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois had dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice – except she allowed the emotional distress count to be continued if the plaintiffs filed an amended claim with factual allegations.
“Apparently, the reputed Fortune 500 multinational waste hauling company, headquartered in Lake Forest, and its CEO, himself a Lake Forest resident, chose rather to drop this last part of their lawsuit,” the legal team said.
The lawyers explained, “Created Equal’s campaign included such aggressive tactics as door-to-door distribution of graphic abortion flyers in Lake Forest and its environs which depicted Alutto’s and directors’ photos, juxtaposed with gruesome images of aborted babies’ remains, and slogans such as ‘Killers among us’ and ‘Stericycle enables killing children.'”
The campaign also used postcards and mobile billboards.
Harrington said: “The dismissal of the claims against Created Equal are not just a huge victory for free speech but for also equal protection, in that huge multinational companies cannot be insulated against criticism for their corporate behavior. Stericycle now needs to dump Planned Parenthood as a client and get back to delivering legitimate waste services to authentic health care providers, not for these merchants of death.
“We are pleased to have successfully defended the vital First Amendment rights that were at stake in this case,” said Tom Brejcha, the president of the center.
The disposal company was the object of the publicity campaign because it was seen as the “weak link” that enabled Planned Parenthhood to dispose of baby bodies.
The campaign was launched after the state of Ohio identified a Planned Parenthood business, whose medical waste was handled by Stericycle, as the source of fetal remains illegally dumped at a landfill.
WND reported earlier in the year when the medical-waste handling company demanded in court that its critics be silenced.
The judge noted then that the company has been in the process of discontinuing doing business with customers who refuse to certify that they will comply with Stericycle’s ban on the disposal of fetuses as medical waste.
“After Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine issued a report in December of 2015 that identified a Planned Parenthood location in Ohio that used only Stericycle to dispose of its aborted fetuses, Stericycle renewed its efforts to ensure that its customers had certified that they would not use Stericycle for that purpose.
“In total, as of the date of the filing of the amended complaint, Stericycle has ended business relationships with over 400 customers who did not return the requested certification, including the Planned Parenthood location identified by Attorney General DeWine,” the judge said."

"Pro Soccer Career: A Risk Factor for Osteoarthritis in Men
Study also suggests controversial joint injections hike OA risk

WASHINGTON -- Retired male soccer players are more likely than the general population to have knee problems including osteoarthritis (OA), according to researchers from Great Britain, who also identified intra-articular injections as a key risk factor for long-term knee troubles.
These are the first hard data implicating knee OA as a hazard of playing soccer professionally, said the researchers with the University of Notthingham School of Medicine (led by Gwen Fernandes, PhD, and Sanjay Parekh), who shared results from two related studies involving former professional soccer players at the annual meeting of the American College of Rheumatology.
In a case-control analysis, retired players were two to three times more likely to have knee problems than a control group drawn from the general East Midlands population in Britain, and suffered them at younger ages (10-15 years earlier for knee pain; 20 years earlier for OA; 5 years earlier for knee replacement). Nearly two-thirds of the ex-players had sustained a knee injury, compared to about one-quarter of the control group (P<0.001).
And, while the ex-players fared better than controls regarding comorbidities (29.4% vs 45.7%, P<0.001), three significant risk factors applicable to playing days were associated with knee problems later in life: Previous knee injury, arthroscopic or open surgery, and intra-articular injection such as a cortisone shot.
(Providing the latter treatment to athletes has often been debated in sports medicine circles.)
The following were more prevalent in the ex-players than in the general population controls:
• Knee pain (RR 1.84, 95% CI 1.71-2.00, P<0.001)
• Physician diagnosis of OA (RR 2.62, 95% CI 2.32-2.96, P<0.001)
• Knee replacement (RR 2.79, 95% CI 2.42-3.23, P<0.001)
• Radiographic chondrocalcinosis (RR 1.78, 95% CI 1.56-2.02, P<0.001)
The second study involved the same 1,207 ex-players plus 472 others who agreed to undergo bilateral knee radiographs. Overall, about 52% reported knee pain. The analysis identified a number of factors significantly associated with knee pain, including BMI of 25 or greater, digit (2D:4D) ratio, and family history of knee, hip, or hand OA.
Three other factors, however, showed the strongest associations with knee pain in retirement: history of joint injury (OR 4.22, 95% CI 3.26-5.48), joint surgery (OR 4.19, 95% CI 3.23-5.43), and intra-articular injections (OR 2.55, 95% CI 2.01-3.25).
But among these, only a history of surgical intervention was significantly predicted knee OA diagnosis, and none showed even hints of an association with need for knee replacement.
Limitations included possible recall and selection biases, and the study's restriction to British men's pro soccer, the researchers noted.
Nevertheless, Parekh urged that soccer organizations should consider how to minimize risk of knee injury for current pro players. (Other recent studies suggest this as well)."

http://constitution.com/oregon-democrat ... -surprise/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"In 2013 Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian waged a one-man jihad against Aaron and Melissa Klein, the owners of “Sweet Cakes by Melissa” for their refusal to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
FoxNews writes, “Avakian undertook a very public and very ugly assault on the Klein family…They faced boycotts and picket lines and other wedding vendors were threatened with similar action if they did business with Sweet Cakes. The family’s young children received death threats and the store’s social networking platforms were overrun by militant LGBT activists posting obscene and profane messages.”
Avakian, an extreme leftist and self-proclaimed social justice warrior, especially for those who identify as LGBTQIA (ABCXYZ), was unrelenting in his war against Christian beliefs and the First Amendment.
“He doesn’t support freedom” one source noted. “He wants a hammer and sickle to smash and then dissect opposition till there is nothing left. He is nothing but a bully.”
Many Oregonian’s believe that a store owner should be allowed to refuse service to anyone for any reason. It’s their right as Americans. If the business fails as a result, well, that is on them. Let the free market decide.
Hiram Sasser, the Klein’s attorney, told FoxNews, “…Americans should have the freedom to live according to their own conscience without the force of government being used to punish those who disagree with government officials like Avakian.”
But with the power of Oregon’s labor department behind him, Avakian’s office ordered the Klein’s to pay $135,000 in “emotional damages” to the lesbian couple which ultimately led to the Klein’s closing down their bakery.
Desiring to take his Nazi tactics and campaign of terror against the little guy even further, Brad Avakian set his sights on Oregon’s Secretary of State post. But on election night, November 8, the little guy fought back! And though Oregon is considered a “blue state” and offered up its seven electoral votes to Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton by an 11% margin, Brad Avakian lost his bid 4.4%.
His opponent, Republican Dennis Richardson, “is a trial lawyer from Central Point who began a 12-year career in the House in 2003, the same year Avakian came to the House. Richardson worked on the Legislature’s budget-writing committee, but was known as a fierce opponent of abortion and for decrying homosexuality.” — from Oregon Live.
And to make matters worse for Avakian, he is responsible for the first win by a Republican in a statewide election since 2002.
Brad Avakian’s Gestapo tactics and extreme left-wing political views were simply too much for one of the most liberal states in the country.
Voters saw Avakian for who he really was – an anti-Christian bully with no regard for the U.S. Constitution. And nobody likes a bully – especially a liberal bully."
