Rob Knowles: "Most people who claim to be “pro-choice” have no idea what they’re talking about. They’re given sanitized talking points by the Left about “women’s reproductive health,” and “a woman’s right to choose.” These talking points lull them into a false reality where abortion is just like getting a cyst lanced.

There’s a reason the Left uses these terms. If they were to show abortion as it truly is, very few people would support it. That’s why I don’t hold back. I want people to see just how heinous and inhuman abortion is. It’s similar to looking at photos of the emaciated dead from Auschwitz. It’s a horrific thing to see, but in certain situations, imagery is a key component of understanding.

To be sure, there are those who fully understand abortion, and still support it. They see a sickening photo of a pre-term infant with no head, or small body parts floating in a bloody stew, and they don’t bat an eye. Those people are evil.

However, I truly believe that the general population would be horrified if they were shown what abortion really is.

Pro-life group “Live Action” tested this theory in a recent YouTube series.

Live Action approached pro-choice individuals, and had them watch detailed videos explaining various abortion procedures. In the videos, Dr. Anthony Levatino, a man who performed over 1,200 abortions in his career prior to becoming pro-life, details several of the most common types of abortions. His explanations are accompanied by animation depicting the procedures.

For example, Levatino talks about a “D&E,” or “Dilation and Extraction” abortion, frequently performed during the second trimester of pregnancy. A D&E requires 24-48 hours of preparation so that the cervix is wide enough to extract the infant’s body parts. Once that is accomplished, a tube is inserted, which suctions out the amniotic fluid from the uterus.

After the fluid is extracted, a sopher clamp (a serrated gripping device) is used to remove the infant, which by 20 weeks gestation is as long as a adult male’s hand–not including its legs. Using the clamp, the doctor tears off the arms and legs of the infant, as well as its spine, and organs. Then, because the skull is too large to come out intact, the doctor crushes it with the clamp before removing it piece by piece. Finally, the doctor assembles the pieces on a tray to make sure everything was removed properly.When Live Action showed these videos to self-proclaimed pro-choice individuals, their reactions told the whole story. Most appeared to be sickened by what they saw. Having relied on Leftist talking points their entire adult life, they’d simply never been educated. Everyone in the video went away changed in some way.

I believe that in time, we will look back at our history of abortion in horror–not unlike the way in which we look back at our history of slavery. However, it will take much more than sanitized arguments to turn the tide. It is necessary to expose people to the truth–in every way. When it comes to abortion, without a visceral shock, intellectual arguments are useless."
