Austrians Need Constitutional Right to Pay in Cash, Mahrer Says
Austrians should have the constitutional right to use cash to protect their privacy, Deputy Economy Minister Harald Mahrer said, as the European Union considers curbing the use of banknotes and coins.

“We don’t want someone to be able to track digitally what we buy, eat and drink, what books we read and what movies we watch,” Mahrer said on Austrian public radio station Oe1. “We will fight everywhere against rules” including caps on cash purchases, he said.

EU finance ministers vowed at a meeting in Brussels on Friday to crack down on “illicit cash movements.” They urged the European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, to “explore the need for appropriate restrictions on cash payments exceeding certain thresholds and to engage with the European Central Bank to consider appropriate measures regarding high denomination notes, in particular the 500-euro note.”

FEDS PUSH NEW PLAN FOR HOME VISITS TO CHECK ON PARENTS
The federal government is seeking to create a new bureaucracy that would intervene in family life and could even see state-appointed monitors conduct routine home visits to assess a child’s well-being.

The U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has published a draft document which outlines a plan that will treat families as “equal partners” in the raising of children, opening the door for government intrusion at all levels.

The paper describes how government employees will intervene to provide, “monitoring goals for the children at home and the classroom,” and that if parents are failing to meet the standards set, “evidence-based parenting interventions” will be made to, “ensure that children’s social-emotional and behavioral needs are met.”

These Academics Are Pissed There’s Too Much Global Warming ‘Denial’ In Science Classes
Some academics are mad there are too many middle school and high school science teachers questioning the science behind global warming.

As it turns out, there are too many “politically conservative” teachers presenting skeptical arguments about global warming to kids — something that’s really angering researchers because they say there’s no real debate about warming.

“At least one in three teachers bring climate change denial into the classroom, claiming that many scientists believe climate change is not caused by humans,” Josh Rosenau, program and policy director at the National Center for Science Education, said in a statement on a new study he co-authored.

Rosenau and his colleagues surveyed 1,500 public school science teachers from 1,500 across the country and found 30 percent of teachers taught students modern global warming “is likely due to natural causes,” and another 12 percent didn’t emphasize the alleged human causes of recent warming.

Chef Drops Foie Gras From Menu After Vegan Death Threats | TIME
Vegan activists threatened a restaurant in the United Kingdom over its Valentine's Day menu

A chef in the United Kingdom is backing away from including foie gras on a Valentine’s Day menu after receiving death threats from vegan activists.

The chef at Kings Arms at Fleggburgh opted out of serving the decadent dish during Valentine’s Day dinner this weekend after being subjected to “harassment” by activists who threatened to protest the menu, the Guardian reports. Foie gras is traditionally made by force feeding geese until their liver becomes enlarged.

mes5464 wrote:Is a home the new luxury item?
As finances and bad credit prevents homeownership for many, a single-family home may soon be considered a luxury item.

Almost half of those people who don't own a home said their financial situation is standing in the way, according to a report by Bankrate.com released Tuesday. Additionally, 29 percent said they can't afford a down payment and 16 percent said their credit isn't good enough to qualify for a mortgage.

Slightly more than one-third, or 35 percent, of those on the sidelines said they don't own a home, because they simply don't want to.
I don't know anyone who owns a home, or will ever own a home.

Would you bet against sex robots? AI 'could leave half of world unemployed' | Technology | The Guardian
Machines could put more than half the world’s population out of a job in the next 30 years, according to a computer scientist who said on Saturday that artificial intelligence’s threat to the economy should not be understated.

Expert Moshe Vardi told the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS): “We are approaching a time when machines will be able to outperform humans at almost any task.

“I believe that society needs to confront this question before it is upon us: if machines are capable of doing almost any work humans can do, what will humans do?”

Shops' electricity rationed in crisis-hit Venezuela - Yahoo News
Caracas (AFP) - Venezuelans are accustomed to severe shortages of cooking oil, diapers and other staple products. But those hoping to buy what they could find got a new unpleasant surprise this week.

They found malls dark and shuttered under a government electricity rationing regime.

"This is madness, this is not the solution!" said Nataly Orta, 48, at the locked gate of the Lider mall in eastern Caracas.

"It's a drastic measure that will only create more unemployment and worsen an economy already in crisis."

Intelligent robots threaten millions of jobs - Yahoo News
Washington (AFP) - Advances in artificial intelligence will soon lead to robots that are capable of nearly everything humans do, threatening tens of millions of jobs in the coming 30 years, experts warned Saturday.

"We are approaching a time when machines will be able to outperform humans at almost any task," said Moshe Vardi, director of the Institute for Information Technology at Rice University in Texas.

"I believe that society needs to confront this question before it is upon us: If machines are capable of doing almost any work humans can do, what will humans do?" he asked at a panel discussion on artificial intelligence at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Antonin Scalia's Death Could Mark End of Constitution - Breitbart
The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia doesn’t merely mark a tragedy for Constitutional philosophy – it may mark the death of American Constitutionalism as a whole.

Scalia’s philosophy of jurisprudence is well-known and shaped two generations of conservative thinkers: the Constitution ought to be interpreted according to its original meaning. This shouldn’t have been a groundbreaking notion given that most legislation is interpreted according to those rules, but because leftist jurists have spent a century chiseling away at the meaning of the Constitution based on their personal political beliefs, Scalia’s reinvigoration of traditional interpretive methodologies made him a historic figure. Scalia’s brilliant, passionate writing style made him author of some of the most famous dissents in Supreme Court history, and channeled the modern conservative frustration with the continuing abandonment of the Constitution.

Scalia’s jurisprudence also reminded conservatives that there is no substitute for proven Constitutional originalism. Most conservatives ignored that when they greenlit the appointment of cipher John Roberts for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, a point I made when he was appointed. But Scalia provided a consistent reminder that Constitutional philosophy matters. It isn’t just a game of doing whatever you want politically. Constitutional jurisprudence is about recognizing the limits of the federal government – and recognizing the limits of the politicization of the Court itself.

It really doesn't matter. The dems and repubs are exactly the same thing. Their bickering back and forth is only a ruse. Both parties at the end of each spectrum want the same thing, one world government.
When rebubs took over congress many people thought Obamacare would be overturned and thrown out. But the rebubs sold everyone down the river just like the dems. They're both puppets to the Commander and Chief...I mean, Dictator and Thief. He could probably push for a third term and nobody would do a thing to stop it, they certainly haven't had the nerve to impeach him. Does someone have our government by the short hairs?

What about gun owners, don't they have any say so? Are they all just going to turn in the guns or allow militarized agents break into homes and lose the last bit of liberty, or will a civil war occur? As far as the Constitution goes, it will not completely go away. The Elders of Israel are supposed to save it from complete ruin. I believe President Benson when he said the Stars and Stripes would by floating on the breeze when the Savior comes.
Another thing. NRA, Guns of America, or any other organization are only names fore people who want to stand up to tyranny. There will always be a leader and followers. When one leader is lost another one takes over. But the important thing is that the followers band together and kick butt. Without the followers the leaders have nothing but hot air coming from every follower. And some leaders talk the talk but fail to walk the walk. It's going to take patriots to the Constitution to stand up to tyranny from every direction in the country, every walk of life to accomplish saving liberty and freedom, not some guy standing at a pulpit shooting off his mouth.
I applaud all the Sheriffs who have come together and decided to stand up and live by their oath of office.

Well I want to know what you consider a loss of freedom, because I don't think we'd agree on that subject.
