The end of this year could prove interesting

Postby Original_Intent » Thu Apr 26, 2012 2:21 pm

Saw this article of the Bernanke saying that Congress is steering the economy towards a "fiscal cliff"

http://economywatch.msnbc.msn.com/_news ... cliff?lite

Then add to that Obama and his "open mic" oopsie with the Russian saying that he would be mroe able to negotiate withdrawing our missile defense shield after the election (possible fullfillment of part of George Albert Smith prophecy)

And then also Israel is being urged not to go to war with Iran until after the elections... so many cans getting kicked down the road, and all coming to a head around the time of the Mayan Doomsday....

Oh, and also if Obama is not re-elected, a possible other fullfillment of GAS prophecy with the U.S. getting nuked! :-o

All told, lots of interesting things to be keeping an eye on.

If the wagons circle around Ron Paul and it suddenly looks like he's going to get in then I will start thinking we are in for a major shift.....otherwise it will just be more of the same.

Looks like we are safe until the election then all heck might break loose. Enjoy the little season.

Indeed, but as I point out in the OP, much is being pushed back until after our election.

My sister and I had lunch yesterday. She is not active in the church, but she has ALWAYS been involved in preparedness. And the last couple of years she has been really gearing up. (She is a branch manager for a bank, and sees a bit more of "the belly of the beast" than most of us.) Anyway, at lunch yesterday she told me that she has been getting the impression that if we do not all move to our fallback position, that we are going to end up walking there. I haven;t had THAT impression, but I do feel that I am being nudged to relocate and bunker down. Soon.

To answer your question: Fill your lamp with oil, WHATEVER that means to you (temporal, spiritual, both). For me my only debt is my house, and I am ready to walk away from it if need be.

D@#!% (darn) OI, I'm trying to think happy thoughts and you go and pull a black swan out of the hat. I'm out of debt, I've got my food storage, the oversized garden, too many fruit and nut trees, too many grape vines, berry bushes, 3 years supply of firewood, guns and ammunition (to hunt deer), etc. I don't plan on moving anywhere more remote and I still can't feel good about the future of this country. I need to stop reading this stuff and take a vacation. There's going to be a war?

Ya! It's right before 2013. And we have to be concerned for the number thirteen, it might prove everyone's doom.

Truly though, I think my great grand children have a lot to worry about.
It takes INDEPENDENCE of mind, HONESTY of heart, FAITH in God, FIRMNESS of character to live the life of a LDS in the face of a frowning world and in the midst of trials, troubles and persecution.

There are a lot of baby-boomers with health problems. For me, I'll just have to weather the storm, handle what comes along and see how many more days I can stand on my own two feet and be thankful I'm alive. I can't run anywhere.

One can't go underground. Earthquakes, volcanoes, flooding and lack of money don't help.
Can't run to the mountains. Earthquakes, volcanoes, Nazi groups, plagues and severe thunder storms and upheaval.
Can't run to a different state. Which one will be exempt from chaos, plague, destruction and disaster? Just another set of problems.

Then we have gangs, murderers, thieves, nuts running around who will have lost any sense they may have had, and neighbors who may want to steal your food and belongings.

I guess that leaves a lot of us with the old backup...FAITH!

Like I said a long time ago...Reality is nothing more than fantasy in action. Fantasy will not keep anyone out of danger. Reality dictates the fact that there are those who will hurt or kill you at the drop of a hat, that plague, disaster, the elements and one's own lack of knowledge in outdoor survival can bring about one's demise. But what can we eat or drink once it's been nuked, or hit with a tornado or smashed because of an earthquake? This includes food storage and water.

But, hey, the good side is one might die with a smile on their face, knowing their going to a better place. The ones that have it made are the people who get to live during Christ's reign. No drugs, thieves, murderers, etc, etc. They won't have to worry about stepping on broken glass and getting stitches. They won't have to worry about getting hit by a drunk driver. They won't have to worry about having a child kidnapped, on and on. What would you rather have?
It takes INDEPENDENCE of mind, HONESTY of heart, FAITH in God, FIRMNESS of character to live the life of a LDS in the face of a frowning world and in the midst of trials, troubles and persecution.

If we are bunkered down alone in the middle of nowhere....how do we set a good example for our neighbors in a time of trouble? How do we teach them correct principles when they are now stimulated to listen? How can we be a helping hand if we are in our cave ready to shoot on sight?

Timing is everything, right Legion? And following the spirit.

There is a time to teach and a time to shut up. A time to stay and a time to leave. When and if those apply will likely vary from individual to indivual, locale to locale.

A good reason to have the spirit as your guide.

Reckon it depends on which spirit is the guide. But yea I agree with you....being in tune with the Spirit is the most critical component. The reality also is that we have promised or covenanted to sacrifice everything for the kingdom including our lives if that is needed. If we die we die....its not the end of the world.

If you move to a remote area and live a self-sufficient lifestyle, is that not itself setting a good example? I don't know why anyone would want to live in a bunker, unless by that you mean an earth-bermed structure. In that case the world would be a much better place if everyone lived in one. We'd be much less dependent on expensive energy resources and utility infrastructure that is so easily damaged.

Others may be inspired and encouraged by your efforts and move toward and more sustainable and affordable lifestyle for themselves, as well as almost certainly a more virtuous and less worldly environment than is found in most cities, even predominantly LDS cities along the Wasatch Front.

I don't know what you mean by "bunkered down alone in the middle of nowhere", but I can't imagine that being a good way to prepare for anything, unless perhaps you like to be alone and you are wealthy and choose to live that way. I'm sure even for such people there are ways they can help others, and God has ways of helping them develop their talents and make the world a better place.

Sounds like one of those places of refuge Dr. Jones was talking about above.

If you are going by the Spirit does it matter what anyone else thinks? If you are not then you have bigger problems then agreement/disagreement with someone else's opinion.

I don't think simply saying "do as the Spirit leads you" is adequate. How does inspiration work in the first place? Do the scriptures not say that we should study things and search them out in our minds?

If there is no point in discussing, and everyone should just keep to themselves and do what the Spirit leads them to... then what's the point of this forum? For that matter, what's the point of going to Church?

If you are a Second Estate Being, then going to Church and following the scriptures is all you have. If you are an older spirit, than following the spirit is the only thing you can do. Depending on the creation/world your in, in the Fourth Estate will dictate the degree/level of your revelations and the required sacrifice attach. Jonah, Job, Joseph Smith, Yehoshua, Alma the younger, Moroni, Saul/Paul to name a few... their sacrifices are legendary.

It isn't going to happen anytime soon. Not enough good things have been done. We have to do better as members to be ready to build zion. While I think it will be an interesting year, No one is going to need to bug out.

Are we just seeing how big of a jerk we can be? I mean, I've been there, done that, but it is neither productive, nor a way to be happy yourself.

I don't know what your problem is lately bro, and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. But you seem to have a mighty big chip on your shoulder lately.

I am probably partly to blame for this. I've been pushing Legion/Jason/etc pretty hard lately by responding to his many attempts to excuse the violence of the state, or of the state as he would like it to be.

I'm getting a bit tired of it, the discussions don't seem to be very helpful, and I have plenty of work and other things to do... so I'm planning to back off on responding like this. I guess we'll see how well I can keep up with that... ;)

Others may be inspired and encouraged by your efforts and move toward and more sustainable and affordable lifestyle for themselves, as well as almost certainly a more virtuous and less worldly environment than is found in most cities...

Are we just patting ourselves on the back?

I don't know what your problem is lately bro, and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. But you seem to have a mighty big chip on your shoulder lately.

I guess after changing my perspective on Ron Paul I've seen the echo chamber here for myself. The new perspective has been very interesting as I look at other aspects in a new light and compare positions.

A year ago I would have been right there patting myself on the back via patting Dr. Jones on the back. Just over two years ago I would have given him a standing ovation because I was doing the same thing. In fact not that long ago I was convinced the world as we know it was coming to an this year and was posting links on the best places to bug out.

I've changed my viewpoint. Hence the question. I certainly disagree with many of my previous positions now as well as many of those on here. Chip on my shoulder....maybe. I don't see it but that surely doesn't mean its not there. To each their own on judgment.

I guess we'll see how well I can keep up with that... ;)

That state I would like is Zion - righteous people and therefore government with Jesus Christ as King.

The discussions aren't helpful because you are just running off of your assumptions (created by your own paradigm and heavy bias) which aren't accurate....and you haven't taken the time nor asked the questions to even begin to understand what I would like versus where we currently are (wicked and thus the requisite environment/masters - use of force/violence). Instead you want to rant about one aspect of the fundamental problem all while ignoring the other. Its all the governments fault and the people have nothing to do with it. If only Ron Paul could shrink the government all of our problems would be resolved and we could smoke our dope in peace without the threat of violence from government. The poor drug users (legal and illegal) are just feeding chemical needs in their bodies and its not their fault and has nothing to do with their agency....just "the dirty rotten government" (whoever and whatever that might be).

If you move to a remote area and live a self-sufficient lifestyle, is that not itself setting a good example?

It is only an example if there are people around to see you do it, or if you told your family & friends how to do it themselves - maybe set up a website explaining how it is done...in other words TEACH...which means you have to INTERACT with others...

Otherwise, you are just vanishing - and would the Lord consider that hiding your light under a bushel, or burying your talents? At least until the storm actually breaks (or 1 day before the Hurricane hits land). Even so, in a Last Days collapse/tyranny situation...do you also have a responsibility to stand tall & rally those around you - help rescue those from the storm who are trying to escape?

I don't know how any person would live in a totally isolated way (unless perhaps they were retired and not involved with religion/civics/etc), even if they were physically isolated from neighbors. In fact, moving to the country I've found that many people in cities are more isolated socially even though they are physically close to their neighbors.

My personal experience doing this is that most people are quite curious about it and it gets conversations started, especially since I live off-grid and people wonder how things work or how various regular parts of life are handled.

Based on that, I'm not sure what you mean by "just vanishing"... is that something you've experienced (ie either you did or you saw someone else do)? What was it like for you and them?
